CH 26
The next morning PJ drop Maggie off at her place then he went to the station where he did a follow up on Robbie's death.
Later that morning Maggie walk into the station which shocked everyone there. "Maggie what are you doing here" tom asked
"Is PJ in his office"
"Yes he is, are you ok"
"In time boss" she walked over and open the door and walk in closing the door behind her.
PJ was on the phone when she walked in he held out his hand to her and she walks around his desk and leaned against it while holding onto his hand till he hugged up.
Then he stood up while looking at her. "What wrong"
"Dad and Mick, they argue when i return this morning, Mick left while I was in the shower. Then dad left after we had a fight, he went back to melbourne. It upset me, Robbie dead and they still argue like he was still alive" she started to get upset so he pulled her into his arms.
"I'm here for you"
"I know" Tom walk into PJ office seeing them in each other's arms.
PJ shook his head slightly so Tom knows that he PJ comforting her. Tom showed him the fax. PJ read what it said.
"Mags" she pulled back
"what" then she turns around to see Tom there
"boss" PJ took the sheet out of Tom hand
"it ok Maggie"
"Maggie, the drugs that we brought back from the bust, it was bad drugs, the same ones that were in Robby system"
"My gosh and those three was just about to take it themselves"
"Yeah, here break down on what in the drug, it a cocktail of heroin, speed and couple of powerful chemicals, no wonder it turned out to be a bad batch."
"what about fingerprints" Maggie asked
"from the plastic bag that the drug came in there six different fingerprints, two from when we arrested them, the other four unknown, same with the syringe that was next to Robbie body but the prints match between the syringe and bag"
"hopefully the drug squad can find out who they belong to" tom said
"I agree"
"Are you ok doyle"
"Family problems boss"
"Is you dad taking care of Robby furnal"
I don't know"
"Why don't you go and take care of it and spend some time with Pat"
"If I do go down I'll be staying at a hotel, dad left after we had an aurement"
"You know what he like"
"i know"
"Let me know when the funeral is"
"I will boss" Tom walk out leaving them alone.
Maggie stay for another half an hour before returning home to pack then she drove down to Melbourne after she call to book reservations at a hotel that she and PJ last stay at while they were down there for a couple of days.
Maggie sorted out Robby furnal and went to the station and up to the floor where the drug squad is. She let them know when Robbie furnal is before leaving to go to Robby apartment to sort out his uniform then take it to the undertakers. That next night PJ showed up after Maggie told him which room she was in. He stayed with her for the night holding her in his arms.
The next day PJ was next to Maggie during the service. Mick and Pat didn't show up for it which upsets Maggie and other family members. Tim and Elle showed with every one from mount thomas police. Even Chris Relyer showed up for support.
After the service they all went to the cemetery where robbie was buried next to Cathrine, there mother. Then they went to the local hall for the wake. Maggie talk to her family and introduce PJ to them. PJ stayed with Maggie that night but he was heading back to mount thomas the next day which she understands.
Maggie was left to take care of Robby will and all his things. It took a week to sort everything out then she return back to mount thomas late that afternoon. She went home and called PJ to let him know that she home. So he showed up that night and stay with her for the night.
"Are you ok Mags"
"I will be" she said when she was snuggling up in his arms.
"Sorry I couldn't stay longer"
"I know but you being there for those few days help"
"any time, and now" she turned to look at him
"I'm pleased you here for me"
"I do it because I love and care about you"
"I love you to" they both kiss.
"In Robbie will he left me his police benefits, his life insurance money in his bank account"
"Police benefits that three hundred thousand dollars"
"I know and another two hundred and fifty thoudands from his life insurances and three throusand dollars in his bank account"
"what about Pat and Mick"
"He left them nothing which is a shocker"
"any idea why"
"Dad always gave robbie a hard time while we were growing up and he and Mick never got on well either."
"but he got on well with you his little sister"
"Yeah we did"
"what are you going to do with the money"
"don't know yet"
the next morning both Maggie and PJ went to see Tim about the design of the house. Tim show them the design of the house that one of the artcutects did up for both inside and outside.
"Well PJ is this what you wanted"
"Ah yeah, Maggie" he turned to her
"It exactly what i would love to have as a house"
"that great since you wanted it in stone brick, I did warn you PJ that it will cost more than normal red brick home"
"How much" PJ asked. Tim pass a sheet of paper to PJ. he and Maggie look at the price. Magie saw the shocked look on his face.
"PJ" he turned to her.
"How much were you thinking it would cost"
"About six hundred thousand, sorry Mags" he put his hand into her's
"don't be we still can have the house and our wedding"
"Are you sure" she leaned over and kissed him
"I'm sure, you giving up a normal house for my dream home"
"I'm doing this because I love you"
"I love you to" he said smiling at her. Then he turned to Tim "Let's do it"
"Great so question will it be in your name PJ or both of your names"
"can it be done in both of our names" Maggie asked
"yes it can be" PJ turn to Magiee
"Tim put it in both of our names"
"Ok, let's get the paperwork started" he said smiling at them
When they walk into the station together they were talking about wedding dates. "Nice for you two to come in and welcome back Doyle"
"thanks boss. We went to see Tim this morning"
"tim" Tom was confused
"elle husband, he show up the design of our house"
"Ah"
"It what we both wanted both inside and out" PJ said
"that great news, now that you two are back, there a burgery on Kent street" Tom pass them a piece of paper
"thanks boss" Maggie said taking the piece of paper out of his hand then she follow PJ out the door once again while they were talking about who is going to be driving which made Tom smile as he returns back to his office.
Month later Elle return back to work and kids are in day care now that they are six months old. Plus at the same time PJ moved into Maggie place while there house is being built.
When Elle walk into the station she went and did what she normal do with the cleaning for starts then return home to shower and used the breast pump for the milk for the twins and get them ready while Tim got the triplets sorted out and they cook and have breakfast together with the kids before leaving.
Tim went to work while Elle who upgraded her wagan after the twins were born, she dropped them off with bags at day care before driving to work for the day. Tom welcome her back with stacks of paperwork
"thanks for the welcome back boss"
"Your welcome" then she got started on the paperwork when others started walking into the station welcoming her back.
Two months later tragedy hit the mount thomas police when Wayne was killed outside the station. He was seeing a solo mum who just broke up with him when he was walking across the road when he was hit and killed by a car. Everyone heard the screeching of tires and thump then screaming. They all ran out to find out what was going on. Elle was in office when it all happen she stood up just as Tom did and look out the window in shocked.
Elle then turn around and pick up the phone and called for an ambulance. Then she and Tom walk outside where they saw PJ hugging Maggie. He looked over to Tom and Elle shaking his head just as they heard the siren. They knew he died. Elle look at the solo mum and her two kids they were crying and shocked with what they had just witnessed.
The street was corden off and investigators from st davids was called in. Word got around town that another police officer has been killed in the line of duty. Tom called tim an hour after the accident. He showed up to comfort Elle while Tom told him what had happened.
Three days later some of ST David officers where at mount thomas while PJ and the others officers including Tim, Elle and Chris drove down to Melbourne for Wayne police furnal. They were shocked to see Roz and her parents at the funeral. Before the funeral Roz and her parents walk over to them
"We don't want you here, you go back to mount thomas" Roz mother said
"Wayne parents ask us to come and these officers are the pull berries and i know that the devorice was finalized last month So you have got no right to tell us or any one else who can and can't come here today. Got to remember Wayne isn't your family any more so you got no rights" elle said. Then she Tim, Tom and Chris walk in to the church and sat down.
"That Roz mum" Chris asked quietly
"Yep, now you know what she is like"
"Yeah" After the service they all meet up at the hall for food and drinks.
Tim and Elle spoke to Wayne parents and introduce them to PJ and the others. Week later Wayne parents showed up to take care of Wayne's things and Nick move into the watch keepers place.
Month later it was the triplets fifth birthday. There was a big party on at Tim and elle place with kids friends and parents being there for the day. Kids love the food and games. Elle and Tim got them their own backpacks. Nick, Tom, PJ, Maggie and Adam put money together and got them pencil cases with pencils and colouring pencils and books which they all loved.
On monday morning Tim and elle showed up at the school with the triplets. They were shown to their classroom and meet their school teacher. They could see how happy their kids are with their friends, so they left them to it and left for work since Elle already drop the twins off at daycare.
Week later Elle was at the station by herself when she saw who walk in
"anna, Bret this is a surprises"
"Is dad in"
"no he was called away like everyone else, but he should be back soon, come on through"
"thanks" Elle open the gate and let them through
"would you two like a drink"
"no thanks"
"so what has been happening with you two"
"We getting married"
"Hey congratulations, when the big day"
"We are planning on getting married tomorrow in Melbourne"
"tomorrow" she said shocked
"Yeah we not big on weddings" anna said.
"Why not have it here"
"You know what dad is like"
"Yes i do and if my dad was alive he would be over the moon and he would wanted to walk me down the aisle and give me away. Any dad would want to do the same"
"but dad he will want a big wedding"
"You want something simple less hassle"
"Yeah, mum she would understand"
"you miss her"
"I do, she would know what to do and how to handle dad" elle smile while thinking.
"How about having it here in mount thomas in your mum back garden, just invite who you want to invite, like your parents Bret your best man, susan. Just close family"
"That is a great idea, it small and simple" Bret said
"And it one way to be close to you mum Anna and do you think she would be happy that one of her daughters getting married in her garden"
"Your right Elle"
"Well there you go, so what dress are you going to wear"
"Normal dress"
"anna, Bret when you go down to Melbourne, I would like for you two and whoever your bridesmaid and best man is. Go to this shop i know. I know the owner" she open her bag got got out a thick diary address book she flick through the pages then she wrote down a name and address. Then she pass it it Anna. "Give her this and she will look after you both"
"wow i've seen her dresses, they are incredible" Anna said
"and expensive" Bret said
"call it a wedding gift from me" they were shocked and Anna hug Elle
"thank you"
"Your welcome, ah now you can break the news to him now"
"anna, Bret" they turn around and smile
"hi dad" she gave him a hug.
"This is a surprise and break what news"
"We getting married" anna said
"what, when"
"Well it was going to be tomorrow"
"tomorrow" tom said in shocked
"Boss, let her finish before you put your foot in your mouth" elle said making anna laugh.
"She right dad. Bret and I were going to get married tomorrow, but Elle made a great suggestion which we both agee"
"what surgestion is this"
"Us getting married in mum garden, it one way that she is part of it"
"Oh Anna" he hugged her
"She would love that"
"I know" they pulled apart.
"It's going to be a small wedding, just family. We don't want any thing big and fancy"
"Are you sure"
"Yes we are Tom" Brett said
"Ok so when the big day"
"soon as we get everything sorted out"
"and when my family can make it"
"that great, let me know"
"We will dad" elle watch them talk for another five minutes before anna and Bret walk out of the station.
