CH 27
Tom turn to elle "thank you"
"Your welcome, since your the bride father what are you going to do about the reception"
"I don't know"
"how about when the others return we go around to you place and take a look at your back yard for ideas"
"thanks Elle"
Hour later tom and Elle was in the backyard looking around "Well any ideas"
"Yes there is, for starts this arch needs replacing" they look at the climbing roses that was over the broken arch.
"I was meant to get that sorted out before Neil passed away" elle look at it.
"It can be replaced and rebuilt wider to where the base of the roses are" she pointed to the ground.
"Ok, what else"
"I remember Neil telling me she would love to have a concrete seat in the arch, a place to think or to read a book."
"she told me that to but i didn't have time"
"Tom how about i call Tim he can send Brad over for measurements for a quote"
"Ok, that a great idea."
"I'll go and make the call" she got her cell phone out and called Tim. When she finish the call, she turn to Tom was looking around the back yard
"there was one thing I always want to have and that a gazebo"
"You could have one built and have lights attached to it for outdoor entertainment and if you have a barbeque and it is raining, no problems" tom smile
"that true"
When Tim and Brad showed up she talk to them about the large arch with the seat under it. Then Tom talk about the gazebo that attach to the house. And Elle put in her ideas. Brad wrote it all down then Elle did a rough drawing of the gazebo and the archway.
"what made you want to do this" tim asked
"anna getting married" tom said
"I suggested for her to have it here"
"when the wedding"
"I don't know if it will depend on when Brett parents can make it"
"Ok i'll let you know how much it going to cost and how long it is going to take"
"that would be great thanks Tim"
"no worries Tom" then he give elle a kiss.
"See you later"
"We will talk more tonight"
"ok" then he follows brad out to the side gate.
Elle turn to Tom "Shall we return to see if the station still in one piece" tom laugh
"good idea" When they return the others were joking around while doing their paperwork.
The next day Tim walk into the station "tim this is a surprise"
"Is Tom in"
"Oh i thought you came to see me" she gave him a sad look then the others started joking and teasing Tim which he grins at them then he leaned forward and kissed elle
"It work honey, the quote"
"Ah, I'll let you off since it work related" she kissed him just as Tom door open and he stepped out of his office.
"Tim"
"tom, i got the quote"
"come on in and rest of you back to work"
"Yes boss" they all said just as elle open the gate for Tim.
"elle"
"I know" she turned and walked towards the kitchen where she made Tom and Tim a drink then took them into Tom office
"thank Elle"
"thanks hon"
"I'll leave you two to talk" then she walked out closing the door behind her.
Two days later four workmen showed up at Tom place and started working on the back section. It took five days to do. When it was complete Elle and Tom showed up and check it out since Tom look through the window to look out back but hasn't step outside once. When he saw what was done, he was shocked and amazed by the transformation.
"I love it and I know Neil would also"
"and the arch" he walk over to it
"it's incredible. And the seat" he step ford and saw it was on a large concrete pad. He noticed a heart printed on the concrete pad with Tom and Neil name in the middle of the heart and plus sign.
He smiles at it and turn to Elle "My idea"
"thanks Elle" then they heard a car pull up and doors closing
"that coming from out the front"
"Hello dad"
"Outback Anna" Anna and bret walk around the side of the house and out back
"Oh wow dad, this is incredible"
"you like it Anna" elle asked
"Yeah, i love the new arch dad"
"elle idea"
"This is amazing"
"so what are you two doing here"
"We set a date for the wedding"
"that great, when"
"Saturday week"
"Ok what about a reception and cake"
"Dad"
"how about an Aussie barbeque and a simple wedding cake" elle surgested
"Bret doesn't like icing"
"no problems there" she said smiling. They talk more about the wedding before Elle and Tom return back to the station.
Tom told everyone when the wedding is and that family only which they understand.
On saturday afternoon Anna and bret got married in front of the archway in front of their families. Bret parents, his brother who is his best man and sister. Susan was anna bride maid. Chris from the pub was invited since she has known the family for years and also provided bottles of champagne, wine and beer as wedding gift plus the night in the honeymoon suite. Which they accepted. Elle and tim was also there.
When the wedding was over everyone congratulated them then tim took number of photos since he has been taking photographs as a hobby. They all enjoying drinks and snacks when there was a knock on the front door so Susan went to see who it was
"PJ, Maggie this is a surprise"
"We bought a wedding gift"
"come on out back" then she laugh
"look like the whole police force showed up" they turn to see Adam and Nick showed up with gift in hand as well "come on through. Elle suspect that you might be showing up" they walk through the house and out back
"elle you were right" Every one turn to see who showed up
"what are you lot doing here" Tom asked
"We knock off and st davids turn to be on call, so where is the bride" nick said walking over to anna giving her a hug
"congratulation"
"thanks Nick"
"I'm pleased I did up extra kabara boss" elle said smiling
"that you did" they stayed and enjoy the barbecue that Elle took care of while Anna and Bret opening there gifts which ones from Nick was funny.
They all watch and clap just as Anna and Bret cut there two tier chocolate cake with white mock cream in between layers and around the cake with chocolate hearts around the two layers and heart shaped arch with two doves on top of the cake. Every one enjoys there slice of cake.
"Elle who made this cake is delicious" Maggie said
"I made it myself"
"thank you elle you done an amazing job"
"thanks Anna, it what you and Brett wanted"
"Yeah it is"
It was later when Anna and Bret left following Chris back to the hotel, they got a send off with Nick and Adam putting toilet paper over the car and spray shaving cream on the back window and tying cans to the bumper of the car. Every one wave them off before they got into the car. Anna toss her bouquet over her shoulder and turn to see Maggie catching it.
"Your next Maggie" elle said
"Yes i know" they wave just as Bret and Anna left heading to the pub.
"Well Chris will surely hear them coming," Nick said. Tom shook his head at him while every one laugh.
The next morning everyone return back to work except for Elle since she got Sundays off to spend it with her family.
On monday morning when she saw Tom "Morning boss"
"Morning Elle"
"Have you seen Bret and Anna yesterday"
"Yes I did, they got pulled up by the st david police saturday night"
"Oh no what happen"
"they saw the toilet paper and cans, that is why they were pulled up. The officers left them off if they remove the items from the car. They remove what they could but they end up hosing down the car when they arrived at the pub. Chris saw what Nick and Adam has done and took photos of it before she left but wasn't inspected for them to get pulled up by the cops"
"I guess that will be the one thing they will never forget in years to come"
"no they won't"
Month later Elle arrived at work after Tom called to let her know that there was a bad accident and no one would be at the station. She was doing some paperwork when she heard the door open. She turned around and stood up and walked to the counter
"May I help you"
"Yeah is Tom in"
"you are"
"Dash McKinley, i'm the new probasional constable"
"constable McKindley, the boss been expecting you. He and others are out at an emergency. Come on through"
"thanks, where can i put my bike"
"Out this way" she follow Elle out to where she could put her bike then follow her back into the station then into the locker room
"Here is your locker, I'll let you get change into your uniform"
"thanks, when is Tom due back"
"the boss as we call call him will be back when he got a chance to. And my name is Elle cole"
"Yeah I know who you are, i was born and raised her in mount Thomas"
"Ok, excuse me phone" then she walked out closing the door then walk over to answer the phone. Then she used the radio to call PJ about a burglary.
"PJ let the boss know that the new constable arrived"
"will do Elle"
When Dash walk out of the locker room she walks over to Elle desk. "So what can I do"
"right, let me show you around and tell you what happened here first thing in the morning"
"ok" elle show Dash around the station and explain a few things.
"So that what happens every morning"
"Yes. Now lunch list" Elle wrote down who has what then she pass it to Dash
"write down what you want for lunch. We get the lunch orders from the imperial"
"ok" She wrote down what she wanted.
Then Elle got some money from the tin and pass it to Dash "Take this down to the pub then return, by then the boss would be back"
"Ok" She walked to the door
"Dash have you forgotten something" she thought about it
"Ah no"
"your hat"
"Oh, I forgot," she laughs. she went to the locker room and got her hat then left to take care of the lunches.
When Tom returns to the station "elle"
"how bad"
"three dead five injured"
"was it on that sharp bend"
"Yeah"
"Thought so, here read this and sign it" she pass him a sheet of paper. Tom read what it says then he look up to elle
"Are you sure about the sististics"
"Yes" she passes him a fax sheet. He read what it says
"I didn't realize it that high"
"now you know"
"you did good" he picked up a pen and sign the four sheets since it all the same.
"I'll get these sorted"
"thanks, where is McKinley"
"Lunch run" tom smile
"Ah" then the door open and they turn to see Dash walking in to the station
"morning tom"
"that boss to you constable"
"Na your tom"
"Dash one piece of advice, call him boss, i'm sure you don't want him to call you your real name"
"I hate that name"
"Well the choice is yours"
"come in to my office for a chat"
"now tom." Tom smile
"Yes Deirdre" she groans as she walked into Tom's office. Tom smile at elle as he walk in closing the door behind him
"Now Deirdre" Elle chuckle as she return back to work.
