Author's note.
Well, that could be interesting. Three guesses on who Veronica was talking to. Now that the set up is done, it's time to get the story rolling again with chapter 3. So, leave a review, sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
Chapter 3
A Starter to a Great Adventure
Ruby POV.
Wow, haha, this is, I can't even describe it. The places I could go, the people I could meet. Sounds much better than being. Suck. In. Oceanside. *Sigh* Mom, Dad, Sam, Ness, Grandmama, I hope you guys are okay. If I can't find a way back, I'll always remember you. Veronica said that people are coming over today; wonder who they are?

As Ruby laid in her bed, Minccino scampered up to her, jumped on the bed and tickled her nose. Ruby's nose then twitched before she sneezed, she opened her eyes and saw Minccino.
"Hello, Minccino" said Ruby waking up.
"Minccino Minccino Min" said Minccino waving it's tiny paw. Ruby then sat up in bed and walked downstairs. There, Veronica was setting the table for breakfast.
"Good to see you're up" said Veronica.
"Morning Veronica" said Ruby. They sat down for breakfast and Minccino was eating Pokemon food. By the time they were finished, Veronica heard a frantic knock at the door.
"I'll get it" said Veronica. She got up from the table and opened the door. On the other side were two teenagers, 'round about Ruby's age. The first one was a boy with semi-short, black hair with a cowlick at the top. He had grey eyes, glasses with a red bridge, a white shirt with red down the centre and around the collar, a blue jacket, black trousers and blue shoes with black soles.
The second one was a girl with blonde hair that reached her chin and wore a green hat with a white band on the top of her head. She had green eyes, wore a white shirt with puffy shoulders underneath an orange vest, a white dress-skirt that reached her ankles, orange ankle socks and yellow shoes. Hung over her shoulder as a green bag.
"Oh, you two made it", said Veronica. "Ruby! We have guests!".
"I'm coming" called Ruby from the dining room. She then walked towards the door and saw the guests.
"Oh, hello" said Ruby.
"Ruby", said Veronica. "Say hello to-". She didn't get the chance to finish as the girl ran in and grabbed Ruby by the hands.
"Hellooooooooooooo therrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeee" the girl said in a super chipper voice.
'Oh my gosh, did my little brother get transported here, get aged up AND turn into a girl?' Ruby thought.
"My name's Bianca", the girl continued excitedly. "I heard all about you. You have some nice skin, never seen it in blue before. And your hair *gasp* it's so smooth. You HAVE to tell me what you use and-". The boy then placed his hands over Bianca's mouth.
"Bianca, please", said the boy. "Don't get up in her face, okay?".
"Okay" Bianca answered muffled. The boy then removed his hands.
"Sorry about Bianca", the boy said. "She's just VERY energetic and excitable. I'm Cheren".
"Nice to meet both of you", said Ruby. "I'm Ruby, Ruby Gillman. So, why did you call them here?".
"Basically", said Veronica. "Today is a VERY important day for you three. For today, is the day you'll get to choose your starter Pokemon and begin your journey as Pokemon trainers". Ruby, Cheren and Bianca cheered at this.
"Now, follow me, and we'll head to Professor Juniper's lab" said Veronica. They then followed Veronica to a large rectangular building with lots of windows and an orange roof.
"This the place?" Asked Ruby.
"This is the place" answered Veronica. They then walked in through the automatic doors.
"Professor Juniper!", called Veronica. "Are you here?".
"I'm coming" called a voice. Soon, a woman who looked to be about the same age as Veronica came into view. She had a head of light brown hair done into a smooth ponytail, green eyes, wore a white shirt and green skirt underneath a baby-blue lab coat and red and white sneakers.
"Hello there", she said. "I'm Professor Juniper, and I welcome you to my Pokemon research lab". Ruby was in awe as she looked around the lab.
"This place is awesome", said Ruby. "The science geeks in my school would be jealous of this".
"Well, anyways, I think it's time for you to choose your starters", said Professor Juniper. "Come on out you three!". She then tossed three Pokeballs into the air and each one opened up releasing streams of light. The first one was an orange pig with black highlights and a red orb at the end of it's tail. It then said 'Tepig' in an oinkish voice.
the second one was a white headed sea otter with white arms, dark-blue ears, feet and tail, a baby-blue body, an orange nose and a seashell on its's stomach. He then said 'Oshawott'.
The final one was a green snake with red-eyes and yellow highlights. It also had arms and legs with a leaf at the end of it's tail. It then said 'Snivy'. Upon seeing them, Ruby got stars in her eyes.
"Awwww, they're soooo cute", said Ruby. "I could just hug them". Professor Juniper giggled.
"Alright, calm down, Ruby", said Professor Juniper. "But, before you meet your starters, I'd like to give you these". She then held out three phone-like devices with Pokeball logos on them. Each device was a different colour, one was grey, one was blue and one was pink.
"These are your Pokédex's", said Professor Juniper. "Just hold them up to a Pokemon and you'll learn everything about them. You can also use them to check for moves". Ruby then picked the Blue Pokédex.
"Would you mind if I, uh, use it?" Asked Ruby.
"Not at all" answered Professor Juniper. Ruby then walked up to Oshawott and held up her Pokedex. A second screen appeared and it turned on.
Oshawott
The Sea Otter Pokemon.
Oshawott uses the Scalchop on it's stomach as a blade during combat as well as a way to crush and break hard berries.
She then turned to Tepig.
"Let's have a look at you" she said.
Tepig
The Fire Pig Pokemon.
When battling, Tepig shoots flames from it's snout, but it shoots out smoke if it is unwell.
She then turned to Snivy.
"And lastly" she said.
Snivy
The Grass Snake Pokemon.
Snivy are usually calm and collected, they use photosynthesis to gather energy with their tail.
Ruby then turned the Pokedex off.
"All of them look so cool and cute", said Ruby. "But, to only pick one? Hmm". She then felt something rub on her leg. She looked down and saw Oshawott hugging her leg and rubbing his head against her leg.
"Awwww, she likes you" said Professor Juniper. The more Ruby looked at Oshawott, the more it reminded her of her little brother, Sam. She gave a smile and picked her up.
"Hey there buddy", said Ruby. "Wanna be my first Pokemon?". Oshawott then stared at Ruby for a bit before giving a reply of "Oshawott, Oshawott Osha".
"Then it's settled", said Professor Juniper before handing Ruby a Pokeball. "Here's Oshawott's Pokeball, take good care of her".
"Are you talking to me or my Pokemon?" Asked Ruby.
"I call dibs on Tepig" said Bianca.
"Then I guess that leave me with Snivy" said Cheren.
"You all look so wonderful with your Pokemon", said Veronica. "Now, before you go, I have some gifts for you three. First off". She then handed them each a yellow and blue box.
"These are your maps", said Veronica. "You can use these to help you navigate the Unova region. Next". She handed them each 5 Pokeballs.
"Some extra Pokeballs for you all, remember, you're only allowed to have 6 Pokemon with you. And finally." She then pulled out a watch-like device, two were blue and one was red.
"They are you XTransceivers", said Veronica. "You can talk to each other over long distances".
"Sweet" said Ruby as she put her on.
"Oh, Ruby", said Veronica. "You, might need to change clothes. You can't go out in your nightwear. I also got a gift for you Ruby". Ruby cocked an eyebrow.
They then went to Veronica's house and Bianca and Cheren were waiting outside.
"What's taking her so long?" Asked Cheren.
"Don't you know it's impolite to rush a girl?" Asked Bianca. They then heard the door open.
"How do I look?" Asked Ruby. Cheren and Bianca stared at her.
Ruby was now wearing a white hat with a blue rim and a blue Pokeball symbol on the front, she wore a pale, green vest underneath a black, sleeveless jacket, violet jean-shorts with the pockets sticking out, white socks that went up to her knees and purple boots with black laces. Thrown over her shoulder, was a blue bag.
"Wow", said Bianca. "You look incredible".
"I must admit, you do look nice" said Cheren.
"Thanks for the new clothes, Veronica" said Ruby.
"You are more than welcome, Ruby", said Veronica. "You remind me so much of myself from when I was younger, so, take care out there".
"Don't worry", said Ruby. "We will". They then walked to the exit of the town.
"So, this is is?" Asked Ruby.
"Yep", answered Cheren. "The second we walk onto Route 1, our Journey begins".
"Then let's get started" said Ruby. They then ran onto Route 1, and their journey began.
