Author's note.

So, looks like Ruby's gonna challenge the Pokemon League. And yeah, you know Team Plasma's gonna get in the way some how. But for now, let's have Ruby enjoy herself before those Plasma Jerks try to ruin her fun. Now then, leave a review, sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

Chapter 5

Pansear see, Pansear do

Ruby POV.

Hmmm, challenging the Pokemon League? I like the idea of that. But I'm gonna need more Pokemon if I want to do that. So, I got a Water type and a Normal type. Hmmmm. What kind of Pokemon should I catch next?

As Ruby walked across Route 2, she heard the sound of fighting.

"Huh? Who's there?" She asked. Ruby then saw something get flung into the air. It then got closer and closer until it hit her in face, knocking her to the ground.

"Ugh, what was that?" She groaned as she sat up. She looked down and saw a tiny monkey with yellowish and red fur. It had bruises and looked pretty banged up.

"You don't look so good" Ruby said. She then got an idea.

"Oh, I know" she said. She then reached into her bag and pulled out a purple and blue spray bottle.

"Hope this works" said Ruby. She then started to spray the wounds. The wounds started to slowly fade. After about 7 minutes, the Pokemon had been completely healed.

"You okay there, little guy?" Ruby asked. The Pokemon then sat up and responded with "Pahpahpahpansear".

"Let's see what Pokemon you are" said Ruby as she took out her Pokedex.

Pansear

The High Temp Pokemon

Pansear live in caves in volcanic areas, mostly volcanos, the tuff on it's head can reach 600 degrees Fahrenheit, especially when angry. They use this heat to cook berries they find.

"Oooooh, a fire type", said Ruby as she put her Pokedex away. "And a cute one at-". She was interrupted when she heard the sound of a stomach growling. She looked at Pansear and saw that it was holding it's stomach.

"You hungry, little guy?" Ruby asked.

"Papan" said Pansear with a nod.

"I know just the thing" said Ruby. She reached into her bag and pulled out a small purple tub and a food bowl. She then placed the food bowl on the ground, opened the lid on the purple tub and poured out it's contents; food pellets.

"It's not much", said Ruby. "But hey, it's better then nothing". Pansear walked over, picked up one of the pellets, sniffed it, then ate it.

"PAN~SEAR~!" Pansear said happily before chowing down. Ruby couldn't help but smile as Pansear chowed down on the Pokemon food. Eventually, Pansear had finished the food.

"I take it that you enjoyed your food?" Asked Ruby.

"Papan" answered Pansear with a nod.

"So, why were you falling?" Asked Ruby. Pansear then got sad and stood up. It picked up a stick and started drawing in the sand. It was about 9 minutes before Pansear stopped. Pansear had drawn three drawings in the sand.

"Okay, so, if I'm reading these right", said Ruby. "You were gathering food".

Pansear nodded.

"Someone attacked you, knocking you out".

Pansear nodded again.

"And then, they flung you away".

Again, Pansear nodded.

"What did that do you?" Asked Ruby. Pansear merely shook it's head and shrugged it's shoulders. There was the sound of screaming coming from the trees. Ruby looked towards the trees, which was where the screams came from.

"What was that?" Asked Ruby. She then ran into the trees, with Pansear in tow. Eventually, Ruby found that the screams came from a wild Minccino, and it was surrounded by leaves and sticks.

"Oh man", said Ruby taking a potion bottle out of her bag. "This Minccino doesn't look so good". She then started squirting the bruises with the contents of the spray bottle. When she finished the Minccino stood up.

"You okay?" Asked Ruby.

"Minccino!" The Pokemon replied. Ruby then looked towards the tree that Minccino had been lying against. It had claw marks on it.

"Wonder what made these?" Wondered Ruby. The marks were thick and deep, whatever did this, must've been huge. Pansear's ears then perked up and looked deep into the forest. It then ran off in that direction.

"Hey! Where are you going?!" Shouted Ruby. She then ran after it. She followed the little fire monkey Pokemon for about 11 minutes, until Pansear stopped. Ruby placed a hand on on a tree and one on her knee, panting from the run.

"What? *pant*", panted Ruby. "Are you *pant* running *pant* for-huh?". Ruby looked to see a nest filled with Berries and Fruit, guarding it, was a large brown feathered vulture decorated with bones.

"Wh-What's that?" Asked Ruby as she took out her Pokedex.

Mandibuzz

The Bone Vulture Pokemon.

Mandibuzz have keen eye sight, allowing to see weakened prey from over a mile high. It makes it's nest out of bones it collects.

"Oh man", said Ruby. "And it does NOT look friendly". She put away her Pokedex and walked up to Mandibuzz.

"HEY!", she shouted. "WHAT'S THE BIG IDEA STEALING FOOD FROM THESE POKEMON?! THEY DID NOTHING TO YOU!".

"Dibuzz", squawked the Mandibuzz before swing one of it's wings to form a ball made up of energy that was black and purple. "MAAAAAAAAANNNNDIBUZZZZZZ!". It then flung the ball towards Ruby and Pansear. Both of them screamed as they dodged it.

"Okay, THAT does it", said Ruby as she angrily pulled out a Pokeball. "Oshawott! Come help me!". She then tossed the Pokeball and Oshawott came out.

"Use Razor Shell!" Shouted Ruby. Oshawott then pulled the Scalchop of her chest and a blue, energy blade formed from the tip. She then charged forward and slashed at Mandibuzz with it, scoring a bullseye.

Mandibuzz growled as it and started flapping it's wings, releasing energy cuts.

"Move out of the way, Oshawott!" Shouted Ruby. Oshawott then jumped out of the way.

"Use Water Gun!" Shouted Ruby. Oshawott then fired a stream of water from it's mouth, but Mandibuzz flew up. It's wings then turned pure white and charged forward, striking Oshawott and sending it flying into Ruby's arms.

"You okay?" Asked Ruby.

"Osha Osha" groaned Oshawott. Mandibuzz was now flying towards her, Ruby hugged Oshawott, waiting for the impact, but it never came. Ruby smelled fire and saw that Pansear was breathing fire from it's mouth, deflecting Mandibuzz.

"Thank you, Pansear" said Ruby. Mandibuzz then flew up, and then straight down, with a blurry streak behind it. It then struck Pansear, sending it to the ground. Mandibuzz then stood over it, claws ready. Ruby was now panicking, she had to do something. Suddenly, lasers shot out of her eyes, hitting Mandibuzz. This action shocked the Pokemon.

"Leave him alone, you, you, uh, bonehead" said Ruby. She then fired her laser eyes again and again. Eventually, the Mandibuzz flew away.

"Yeah, that's right!", shouted Ruby. "You better fly away". She then walked over to Pansear.

"I don't know if that thing is gonna come back", said Ruby. "So, grab your berries and fruit and head home". Pansear only jumped and hugged her.

"Oh, uh, thank you", said Ruby. "Uh, would you like to join me?". Pansear nodded excitedly. Ruby then took out a Pokeball.

"Welcome to the team, Pansear" said Ruby. Pansear then tapped the Pokeball and went inside. After a few seconds, the Pokeball stopped beeping and flashing.

"Our Family just got bigger, because I just caught, Pansear!" Cheered Ruby. She then returned Oshawott to her Pokeball.

"Okay, if I go along this path", said Ruby. "I should make it to Striaton City. Wonder what it's like?".
