It's time for Ruby's first Gym battle, well, the prologue to it at least. Let's hope Ruby wins this, I for one know what will happen, but will you? Chapter 6

Striaton to the point

Ruby POV.

Okay, so, roll call. I got Oshawott, Patrat and now, Pansear. Seems like a decent line up. Now, I'm gonna challenge the gym leader in Striaton City. I just hope I've got what it takes and, aha, here we are.

As Ruby entered Striaton city, she could see what looked like a school and a restaurant.

"Hmmm, nice place" said Ruby. She saw the sign on the school. It was a Pokemon trainers school.

"A school for Pokemon Trainers?", Ruby wondered. "I better check this out". She opened the door and walked inside. Upon entering, there were several young people with their Pokemon. And she was shocked to see who was in one of the classrooms looking at a chalkboard. It was Cheren. She opened the classroom door and walked in.

"Oh, hey there Cheren" said Ruby. Chere looked away from the board to see her.

"Oh, hi Ruby", said Cheren. "What brings you here?".

"I was thinking of challenging the Gym here" answered Ruby.

"The Gym?" Asked Cheren.

"Yep", answered Ruby. "Found a badge case in my bag and decided to challenge the league".

"Very nice", said Cheren. "How about we get some practice in?".

"Huh?" Asked Ruby. Cheren then held up a Pokeball.

"You. Me. In a Pokemon battle" said Cheren.

"A battle?", asked Ruby. "Well, uh, sure. I can do that".

"Then follow me to the battle field" said Cheren.

"Battle field?" Asked Ruby. Cheren then pointed to one of the windows. Ruby looked out of it. There, outside, was a large chalk drawn arena with a Pokeball drawing in the centre.

"Whoa" said Ruby in awe.

"So, you up for it?" Asked Cheren. Ruby laughed before she smirked.

"Bring it" she responded. The two then walked to the battle field, Ruby was on the right and Cheren was on the left.

"How does a two on two battle sound to you?" Asked Cheren.

"That is fine by me" said Ruby.

"Excellent", said Cheren. "Purrloin! Let's go!". He then threw his Pokeball and out popped a purple and cream cat with green eyes. Ruby then took out her Pokedex.

Purrloin

The Devious Pokemon.

They are very deceptive, and use their deceptiveness to fool their victims. When cornered, it shows it's claws.

Ruby then put her Pokedex away.

"Okay, so~, I think this would be best", said Ruby taking out a Pokeball. "OSHAWOTT! COME OUT!". Oshawott then came out of it's Pokeball.

"Purrloin! Use Tackle!" Shouted Cheren. Purrloin then charged forward.

"Dodge it!" Shouted Ruby. Oshawott then moved out the way.

"Use Water Gun!" Shouted Ruby. Oshawott then fired a stream of water from it's mouth.

"Use Assist!" Shouted Cheren. Purrloin's right arm was then encased in glowing white energy before two vines came out, blocking the water.

"Use Tackle!" Shouted Ruby. Oshawott then tackled Purrloin.

"Use Scratch!" Shouted Cheren.

"Use Razor Shell!" Shouted Ruby. Purrloin then deployed it's claws and Oshawott wielded her shell. The two then charged at each other, creating a cloud of smoke. When the smoke cleared, Oshawott was standing, while Purrlion was knocked out.

"Oh yeah!", cheered Ruby. "Aha, I won the first battle". Cheren then returned Purrloin to it's Pokeball.

"Not bad", said Cheren. "But it's not over yet. Snivy! Let's go!". He then tossed a Pokeball and Snivy came out.

"Okay, so, Snivy's a grass type", said Ruby. "Which means, Oshawott, return". She then returned Oshawott to her Pokeball.

"Pansear!", shouted Ruby. "Come out!". She then tossed the Pokeball and Pansear came out.

"Snivy! Use Leer!" Shouted Cheren. Snivy then gave Pansear a leering stare, sending a chill down it's spine.

"Use Fury Swipes!" Shouted Ruby. Pansear's fingers glowed and slashed at Snivy.

"Use Tackle!" Shouted Cheren. Snivy then tackled Pansear.

"Grab onto it, Pansear!" Shouted Ruby. Pansear then grabbed onto Snivy.

"Use Incinerate!" Shouted Ruby. Pansear then released a stream of fire from it's mouth at Snivy.

"Now throw it!" Shouted Ruby. Pansear then threw Snivy to the ground.

"Use Incinerate again!" Shouted Ruby. Pansear then attacked again, when the smoke cleared, Snivy was knocked out.

"I. I won", said Ruby before giving a big smile. "I WON! WOO HOO!". Cheren then returned Snivy to it's Pokeball.

"That was a great battle, Ruby" said Cheren. Ruby blushed at this.

"Oh, uh, Thank You Cheren" said Ruby.

"What's next?" Asked Cheren.

"I'm gonna challenge the gym" answered Ruby.

"If you're looking for the gym leader", said Cheren. "He just left here".

"Thanks", said Ruby. "Do you know where the gym is?".

"Sure, it's not far from here", answered Cheren. "Just look for a building that has the same logo as your badge case".

"Okay, so look for a fancy Pokeball, got it" said Ruby. Ruby then walked out of the school.

"Okay, let's see", said Ruby as she looked around. "If I were a gym leader, where would I-aha, there". She then saw a large, fancy building with the same logo that was on her badge case.

"Alright, here we go" said Ruby. "First Gym challenge in the Unova. Here I go". She opened the door and instead of a battle field, he was greeted by a restaurant.

"Um, hello", said Ruby. "I was wondering if-uh".

"Why hello there, young ma'am" a trio of voices said. Ruby then saw three young men walking towards her. Each of them were wearing a waiter's uniform, but they each had different hair styles. One had green hair, one had blue and one had red.

"Oh, hi", said Ruby. "I'm here to, have a gym battle". The three boys just smiled.

"A gym battle, huh?", asked the red head. "Well, this is a nice surprise for today, it has been rather slow today".

"Slow day?" Asked Ruby.

"Quite", said the blue head. "We have been getting customers, but no challengers".

"Indeed", said the green head. "So, allow us to say…".

"Welcome to the Striaton City Gym".
