Ikki roams the school grounds during lunchtime. He spots a ghostly figure, and he goes after it. Then he grabs someone's wrist and receives a slap to his face. Undaunted, he notes the one who did is Kyoko from 1B. When she calls out to Ikki, he initially avoids her. However, she inquires why he attempted to grab her, and he clarifies that it was not his intention. The two eventually sit down on a bench and share lunch together. She expresses interest in seeing him again.
The weather for today is sunny.
This week concludes the April chapter.
Ever since he's stuck in dormitory quarantine, Ikki has to find a way to distract himself. One of these is going to the courtyard during lunch, where he buys a soda can from the vending machine. After consuming the soda, he sees a ghostly dark figure gliding nearby that's somewhat familiar. Ikki then follows the figure and catches up to it by grabbing its wrist but receives a slap to the face. He speaks up without a flinch.
Ikki - What a way to make an impression.
The girl with the long navy hair turns around.
Tall student - Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry! I thought someone was trying their way with me. Are you okay?
Ikki - What do you think?
Tall student - Wow, you're unaffected.
Ikki walks away.
Tall student - Where are you going?
The girl then follows him.
Ikki - It's none of your business.
Tall student - It is! You approached me for a reason.
Ikki - Something caught my attention. That's all.
Tall student - Really now?
Ikki - If you don't mind, go away.
Tall student - That's not nice.
She continues to follow nonstop, catching up to him.
Ikki - You're awfully persistent, are you?
Tall student (shocked) What's with you?!
After walking in circles, they settle near the dorm and sit on a bench.
Kyoko - We should introduce ourselves. I'm Kyoko Sakaki from 1B.
Ikki (sighs) I'm... Ikki.
Kyoko - I've seen your name before. It's in the newspaper: the Galaxian Wars! You're the bad one who stole the gold armor.
Ikki - Geez! Thanks for the reminder that I never asked for.
Kyoko - So, are you new? I haven't seen you around.
Ikki - I live in a dorm, and I'm stuck.
Kyoko - What do you mean?
Ikki - It means I can't be in the school building because they think I'll go berserk and burn the building to the ground.
Kyoko - You're stuck because you stole the gold armor? That's weird.
Ikki - It is what it is.
Kyoko unwraps a colorful lunch box filled with all kinds of arranged food. Ikki stares as if he's mesmerized.
Kyoko - You're staring at my food.
Ikki (blush) It's just... well...
Kyoko - Do you want some? We can share.
Ikki - You don't have to offer...
Kyoko - Here's a spoon. I eat with chopsticks, but I keep one just in case.
Ikki (receives spoon) I don't know which ones to pick.
Kyoko (pointing) Try this one.
At her recommendation, Ikki eats the yellow-shaped roll.
Ikki - This is really good! Who made this?
Kyoko - I did!
Ikki - You did? Are you an orphan?
Kyoko (surprised) I live by myself in an apartment. My parents are still alive, though. It's just that I moved here from the countryside. My uncle owns the building and lent me a place to stay.
Ikki - That makes sense.
Kyoko - But I have to work in exchange, so he made his friend hire me as a clerk at a grocery store. I can't join clubs because of this. I don't mind. I like getting paid. And certainly, it's much better than living in a dorm.
Ikki (smiles) That's quite admirable.
Kyoko (light blush) Aw, thanks.
They finish the lunch box as the bell rings.
Kyoko - Aw, lunchtime is over. Hey! I want us to keep meeting. Can we?
Ikki - I'll consider it if you keep bringing box lunches.
Kyoko - Then it's a deal. Keep in mind I may not always be available, especially during midterms and final exams.
Ikki - Don't worry. I get it. I have my own lunch.
Kyoko (nods) Thank you.
Ikki (meta) Kyoko's odd but better her than some random kid. And here I thought she revived. They look so much alike.
