Kera:

"Aunt Kera!" Beaming with joy, Gohan was suddenly beside her.

"Gohan!" She hugged the boy and remained suspended in the air in front of him. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm just on my way back from Satan City."

"Oh yes, your first day at school. How was it?"

"Pretty okay ... I guess."

Tilting her head, she looked at him. "That doesn't sound very convincing."

"I turned into a Super Saiyan," he muttered.

"Why?"

"Just before I arrived, I witnessed a bank robbery and intervened."

"There's nothing wrong with that."

"A girl in my class was watching me. I don't want my classmates to know that I am ... different. And that I have anything to do with the cell games." Gohan didn't look at Kera.

"I see." She paused. "I don't think you can stand still when you're watching crime. What if you're wearing a mask?"

Gohan thought for a moment. "That might be a solution ..."

Encouragingly, she patted Gohan on the shoulder. "Let's fly to your mother's first. I still have time for tea."

"Where were you off to?"

"To Vegeta and Bulma's. To pick up the baby."

"So you still haven't decided on a name?"

Kera's expression darkened. "It's not that simple. We can't agree on anything. We can't take the name Malaha and Aitor gave her."

"What was it?"

"Penghancura." Questioningly, Gohan raised an eyebrow. "It means destruction. We can't keep that."

"I wouldn't either." Gohan smirked. "I'm sure Mum will be pleased when you come over." Suddenly he looked embarrassed. "There's something else."

"Always out with it."

"Videl, this is the daughter of Hercule has ..."

But before he could finish the sentence, they were already in sight of Chi-Chi's house and Chi-Chi ran towards them with Goten. She hugged Gohan and Kera and immediately started chattering away, bombarding Gohan with questions to which he could hardly answer because she was already asking the next question. Kera had the impression that Chi-Chi herself was much more nervous than Gohan.

"Have you made any friends yet?"

"I ... well ... that girl Videl ..." That was as far as he got.

"A girl?!" cried Chi-Chi indignantly.

"She's Hercule's daughter," Kera quickly interjected, giving Chi-Chi a piece of information Gohan had already told her during the flight. Chi-Chi's mood changed abruptly.

"Oh, Hercule's daughter. That would be quite a match, wouldn't it?"

"What?!" Gohan was shocked.

Quickly, Gohan tried to change the subject and told of the gym class where he had tried to be inconspicuous and then had jumped very high to catch the ball in baseball.

"You'll be fine, my boy," she cheered her son up.

They chatted for a while longer until Kera left to join Bulma and Vegeta.

"I'm coming with you," Gohan called after her.

"Why?"

"I was going to ask Bulma if she had any ideas for a mask," he whispered to Kera, who winked knowingly.

They flew to Bulma and Vegeta. While Gohan explained to Bulma what he wanted her to do, Kera sought out Vegeta in the gravity room. He was training there with Trunks.

Looking through the window in the doorway, she just saw Trunks transform into a Super Saiyan and punch Vegeta in the jaw. She had to smile. The little boy was already showing great talent.

She tapped against the glass before Vegeta could land a counter, catching his attention.

Vegeta nodded at her, turned off the gravity and waved her in.

"Aunt Kera!" Trunks hugged her around the waist. "Did you just see that?"

She leaned down to her nephew. "Yes, I did. You can already transform into a Super Saiyan and you've punched your father. I'm proud of you." She looked to Vegeta. "I hope your father promised you something nice in return."

Vegeta snorted.

"Yes, he did. He's taking me to the fair."

"Great!"

"What are you doing here?" asked Vegeta. Obviously to change the subject.

"Picking up the baby. And I accompanied Gohan here."

"And what's he doing here?"

"He wanted to ask Bulma for a disguise in case he had to transform into a Super Saiyan during school hours."

Vegeta rolled his eyes. "Such bullshit." He took a step towards her. "Do you still have time for a training fight?"

A smile flitted across her lips. "Always."

"Can I watch?" spoke up Trunks.

"Sure, but step aside."

Hours later, Gohan came into the gravity room. Kera and Vegeta wiped the sweat from their foreheads. At 250x gravity, they had been beating on each other without a break. It had done well. She hugged Vegeta before turning to Gohan.

"That was so cool!" Trunks ran up to her.

Kera nodded gratefully at him, then turned to Gohan. "Has Bulma been able to develop something for you?"

He held up his wrist, which had a new watch on it. "Do you want to see it?"

She nodded. Gohan pressed a button on the watch. Within a blink he had a white bandana around his hair, tied in a knot at the nape of his neck. Over his eyes he wore dark sunglasses and new clothes with a long red cape.

"Well, what do you think?"

Kera swallowed. It looked a little ridiculous. "It's ..."

"That looks totally silly," Trunks called out as he passed.

Vegeta, throwing a towel around his shoulders, also had to stifle a laugh.

"I already know what I'm going to call myself, too: The Great Saiyaman," he said, as if he hadn't caught Vegeta's and Trunks' reactions.

"Okay," Kera said, stretching. "Do you want to show your mother?" asked Kera.

"Yeah, I guess so. I'll be off then. Goodbye." With a wave, he stepped outside. Then he came back at a run. "There's one thing I forgot: Videl told me there's going to be another fighting tournament soon."

"You mean one of those tournaments your father used to participate in?"

Gohan nodded. "Hercule, Videl's father, will be hosting it."

"Are you going to participate?"

Gohan stepped from one foot to the other. "Well, reluctantly."

"But?"

"Videl talked me into it. She made assumptions that she knew Goku was my father and she wanted me to teach her how to fly."

Kera had to smile and patted him on the shoulder. "You'll get the hang of it, little one." It was only then that she realised how big Gohan had become. 'Little' didn't even fit anymore. He towered over her by almost a head's length.

Slowly, Gohan nodded and then walked outside.

Kera looked at Vegeta and began to laugh. "I'm so sorry. He's our nephew, but somehow he comes across a lot like Kakarrot sometimes."

"A shame for us proud Saiyans."

Kera sighed. "Vegeta, you don't have to be so grouchy all the time."

"It's alright. Come with me to get the baby."

Kera joined Vegeta. Together they walked down the hall.

"Have you ... ever thought about a name?" she asked cautiously.

Vegeta looked down at the floor. "No."

Was he feeling insecure? Was he thinking about what it had been like when Malaha and Aitor had taken over their bodies? What they had done to their bodies and to the earth?

Kera stopped. "Vegeta?" He stopped as well, but did not turn to her. "Do you think we should talk?"

"About what?"

"About all that happened a few weeks ago. That we were held against our will for months by these ... beings. That we barely escaped being sealed with them." Then quieter. "That we have a child together, even though we're brother and sister." She had to shake herself for a moment.

"Why do you want to talk about this now?"

"I've wanted to talk all along, but you've been avoiding me."

Vegeta remained silent. His shoulders slumped forward. Kera bridged the distance between them and wrapped her arms around him from behind. She felt him stiffen. He just wasn't the type to show his feelings openly. But where would that lead if they just hushed it up?

"It makes me insecure too. I don't know if I can trust my thoughts anymore. She - Malaha - has always been in my mind. I even feel like I miss her, in a strangely messed up way. I don't talk to Piccolo about it because I'm afraid he'll think I'm crazy. But I think he knows how I feel because, after all, he shares his body with Nail and Kami. And I feel his closeness through our bond." She took a deep breath. "What I'm saying is: I understand how you feel. You are not alone. It just ... sucks for all of us."

Vegeta relaxed a little. His breathing calmed. "I hate that we were used like this. What do you suppose Bulma would think of me? A child ..." A slight tremor made his body shake. "What if she really will bring the destruction that was prophesied? We could have stopped it. We are endangering everyone."

Vegeta:

Should he really say it? He took one deep breath. "I miss the power Aitor gave me."

He waited for a reaction from Kera. Had that been too much of a frankness? Did she now think he was completely off his rocker and was already thinking of ways to stop him.

She sighed and pressed herself even tighter against him. "I know. Just before the sealing, I had the feeling that Malaha was no longer a stranger, but a permanent part of me. That power was indescribable. I still thought briefly what it would be like if we could truly rule together, but then the moment passed and she was sealed."

Her voice sounded muffled. She was still pressed against his back.

Vegeta took a step forward and turned to face her. "We must not let these fantasies bother us. We will become stronger. We will train."

He saw a smile flit across her lips and felt the corners of his mouth tug upwards as well. Kera had always been by his side. Knowing she was his sister made him feel good.

"Kera? Vegeta?"

Irritated, they both looked around. "Kakarrot? How ...?"

"King Kai!" shouted Kera.

Vegeta darkly remembered that Kera had once told him that Dende and Menka could contact this King Kai, and then talk to Kakarrot in the afterlife through him.

"I'm glad I caught you two," Kakarrot continued talking. "I went to see ... Gine again." So it wasn't easy for him to refer to her as their common mother either. "I told her this whole thing about Aitor and Malaha. That was what she had wanted to tell us when I had to take you back to King Yenma. She knew the prophecy. She didn't want it to come true, but as we know by now, it was already too late." He made an uncertain sound. "She was not pleased when I told her the baby was still alive, but she could understand you too. She would not have been able to kill it either."

Even though Kakarrot spoke those words, Vegeta felt more reassured. If even Gine said that she would have let the baby live ...

"One other thing, I heard that there will be a fighting tournament on Earth soon."

Kera snorted in amusement. "For being in the afterlife, you sure get a lot out of it."

Vegeta saw Kakarrot in front of him, rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment. "Well, I have my sources. Anyway, I get to come to Earth for 24 hours and participate in the tournament."

Vegeta's eyes widened in surprise. Had he really heard that right? "You're kidding!"

"No, I'm really coming."

Vegeta had to grin. "Don't count on too many chances, Kakarrot. I will defeat you."

He saw Kera roll her eyes slightly, but ignored her gesture. "Then I will also participate!"

"What?!" exclaimed Vegeta and Kakarrot simultaneously.

"The perfect way to test which of us three siblings is the strongest." She winked.

Vegeta snorted. Kakarrot fell to cheering. "Great idea, Kera! And the kids can participate too."

"I'm sure Reyak won't think twice about that." Kera laughed.

"If Reyak and Goten participate, Trunks will want to be there too. I hope Bulma won't grumble," he muttered.

"Then I'll see you in a month!"

Kakarrot's voice disappeared from his mind. He looked to Kera.

"I guess we'll have to train properly so we can both defeat Kakarrot and then I can show that I'm the best of the three of us."

"Ha, you wish!" She nudged him on the upper arm with a smile on her lips. "Piccolo will certainly want to participate too, so we'll take turns training, okay? One day I'll train with him, then the next with you."

Vegeta nodded. "Then let's go get the baby now."

Side by side they entered the large living room.
