Vegeta:

He had felt Kakarrot's energy for a moment. It had been breath-taking. Much more powerful than anything they had seen so far. Probably even more powerful than the sum of it all. And then his energy had been gone again. If he concentrated, he could still feel it, but it was as if it was always shifting between Kakarrot's actual location and another realm.

He looked at Kakarrot's appearance. His body seemed thinner. Did that have something to do with the transformation into the Super Saiyan God? The other transformations to Super Saiyan tended to build up and make the body bulkier.

Beerus and Kakarrot pushed themselves off the deck of the ship to fight in the air. Good thing. Hopefully they wouldn't endanger anyone then. And here over the open ocean, the risk of harming anyone was minimised anyway.

He shook his head. Now he was actually starting to worry about others. He had changed a lot since he lived on Earth.

"I can't feel Father's aura anymore!" exclaimed Gohan.

"That only means that he is indeed a god. The auras of gods cannot be sensed by ordinary mortals," Piccolo replied.

Confused, Kera looked up at her companion. Could she also sense Kakarrot's aura?

"Is Goku strong enough to defeat him now?" asked Bulma cautiously.

"We'll see," was Piccolo's evasive reply.

"I want to see it up close!" Bulma walked quickly to the other end of the deck. What was she going to do? "Come with me!" she shouted while still running.

Most of the people present followed her. Videl remained seated on one of the chairs. She looked a little worn out. Piccolo also remained standing with Gine in his arms.

Then Vegeta saw what Bulma was up to. She was getting on one of the planes and obviously wanted to fly up to Beerus and Kakarrot. Briefly he considered stopping her, but then resigned himself. What this woman had set her mind to, she would carry out.

"Kera, let's watch from up there." Vegeta pointed to one of the chimneys. Kera looked to Piccolo.

"You go ahead. I'll keep an eye on Gine."

"Thanks."

Due to the loss of energy, they could only fly up slowly and Vegeta felt a little out of breath when they reached the top. From here, however, they had the best possible view of the battle.

"What are they talking about so long?"

Kera shrugged. "Probably the usual Kakarrot. If he wins, Beerus won't be allowed to destroy Earth."

Vegeta grinned. That was quite possible.

Now Kakarrot set up for a first attack. A kamehameha. Naturally. What else. It missed Beerus by a few yards, however, and just barely missed the surface of the earth.

"Kakarrot, you better watch out. Otherwise you'll destroy the earth!" shouted Kera angrily.

"Sorry!", Kakarrot shouted back. "These powers are very unusual."

Kera and Vegeta sighed at the same time. "We should have given you the powers instead," Kera grumbled.

"Or you." After a pause. "You're not too fond of your mate right now, are you?"

Surprised, Kera looked at him. "You noticed that?"

"I have eyes in my head. Even at Gohan's wedding, you were strange to each other. How long has this been going on?"

"Shortly after Tarble left."

"Excuse me? That was months ago. What happened? Did he do something to you? Do you want me to have a serious word with him?"

Kera's lips curled into a smile for a moment before she became serious again. "I'm angry. Piccolo suggested after the incident with Tarble's attackers that we bind Gine's powers."

"Bind? You mean she won't be able to use her powers then?"

"Exactly."

"Is that possible?"

"Dende and Menka have done research. It can be done."

"But we don't know what the implications will be."

Kera looked at her brother with wide eyes. He tilted his head. "What is it?"

She blushed. "I honestly hadn't thought of that. I was angry because he didn't talk to me before. Because he sees that as the only way to prevent chaos. Then when he did talk to me, I told him what I thought, but he asked Dende and Menka to keep looking for ways to bind Gine's powers. At Gohan's wedding, I overheard that Dende and Menka had found a solution. In the process, I had slowly calmed down." Kera clenched her fists and looked to the ground.

Vegeta squeezed her shoulder briefly. "I understand you. I would be just as angry. What makes me furious is that we don't know how this would affect Gine herself. What if she can't focus her energy at all then? What if we just make things worse?" He paused for a moment. "Why doesn't your mate trust us to sort this out ourselves?"

She shrugged. "I don't think that's the deciding factor. He just doesn't want chaos to break out." Kera sighed and he saw tears glisten in her eyes.

Vegeta stood closer to his sister and put his arm around her shoulders. "I know I'm not the perfect person to talk to, but you can always talk to me."

Kera nodded and rested her head on his arm. "Thanks."

"If you need some space, you can stay with me for a few days." Again he felt a nod on his arm. "Why didn't you tell me this before?"

"I don't really know. Probably because I thought you would react the same way I did and then go after Piccolo. And I wasn't sure if I could stop you then ... or if I even wanted to at that moment."

"You know me too well." He grinned. "We should ask Tarble again about the lore of Chaos. Maybe he'll know more. Or maybe we're just misjudging 'Chaos'."

"If this comes to a good end, we'll call him."

For a while they watched the fight between Beerus and Kakarrot in silence.

"So he's getting the hang of it," Vegeta remarked after Kakarrot and Beerus had disappeared from their field of vision. They had risen higher and higher and seemed to have almost left the atmosphere. He could no longer see them, but if he concentrated, he could feel Kakarrot's aura. Or maybe just a part of it.

"I hope nothing happens to Bulma and the others," Kera muttered.

"All the kids are with them, and Krillin. They can all fly, can't they? We shouldn't worry our heads about that."

Silence and stillness again. Concentrating, they tried to continue following the fight, but it was getting harder and harder.

Suddenly Kera cried out. Only seconds later did Vegeta realise why she was screaming. Kakarrot fell. He seemed to be badly injured. Kera wanted to fly off to help him, but Vegeta held her by the arm. She turned to him and tried to wriggle out of his grip.

"What are you doing, Vegeta?" she asked him, upset.

"Wait," was all he said.

"That's our brother who fell into the water there, badly hit. We have to help him!" Kera didn't seem to understand why Vegeta wouldn't help.

"Think about it. Kakarrot is a god now." Vegeta loosened his grip on her upper arm a little.

Kera's gaze wandered to the sea. She searched the surface, which now lay there calmly again after Kakarrot had plunged in.

"You mean he can heal himself?!"

Satisfied, Vegeta nodded and put his hand down. Kera smacked her forehead with the flat of her hand.

"Of course! You're right!" she exclaimed.

They waited together and sure enough, just a minute later the water parted and Kakarrot shot up from the flood waters like a rocket. He would continue the fight. He would not give up so quickly.

"I could make your watching a little easier." Whis had come up beside them and was making a projection from the sphere attached above his staff, showing the fight.

Kera and Vegeta ignored him, stubbornly continuing to look up.

Whis turned and floated back onto the deck. "Stubborn Saiyans. Seems to be in the genes," Vegeta heard him still muttering.

"Did you feel that shockwave?"

Kera nodded without lowering her head. She continued to stare upwards, spellbound. "It felt like the whole earth was shaking. I hope those shockwaves don't end up destroying the earth after all, although that's what Kakarrot is trying to prevent right now."

"Shit, the shockwaves have definitely crippled one thing already."

Kera looked to him. Vegeta pointed behind her. Kera's gaze followed his outstretched arm. The plane Bulma and the others were in crashed. Vegeta remained calm. There were enough capable fighters in that plane to protect those who could not fly.

Someone shot a hole in the wall of the plane from the inside, they all got out and had the non-fighters tucked under their arms. They headed for the deck of the ship while Piccolo deflected the crashing plane with a beam of energy so that it fell into the water and not onto the ship. All was well.

Vegeta made sure Trunks and Bulma were all right. She gave him a quick wave and he looked back up.

Kakarrot's fight against Beerus had reached a level that threatened Earth. Hopefully Kakarrot would be able to stand up to him.
