The State Verses Derek Morgan-Ch 14
The next morning Derek still hadn't fallen back to sleep, he was afraid that he would see the same thing again so he fought sleep all night long and now he was paying the price for it, he was exhausted. The guards came around handing out breakfast trays, Derek watched them as they slid his under the door, he looked up and watched as the guard continued making his way through the room sliding breakfast trays in to the prisoners.
He picked up his tray and set it beside him on the bed, it looked pretty good believe it or not so he tried a few bites, he'd have to get use to eating this food because he'd be in here at least 3 weeks while he was waiting on his trial to start. After breakfast was over the guards came around and picked up the trays and when his tray was cleared an officer walked up and said, "Morgan, you have a visitor, it's your attorneys.
Derek stood up and held his hands through the door so they could put his cuffs on, after they were securely around his wrists he pulled them back inside his cell so that the guard could open the door. He waited until he was told and then he stepped out and fell in line behind one officer as they headed up the corridor that led to the interrogation rooms, he was exhausted but needed to talk to Hotch and Mia, he needed to tell them about his dream, well his nightmare.
When he walked into the room Mia and Hotch were already there waiting on him, the guard uncuffed him and said, "we'll be right outside", Mia said, "thank you", the guards nodded their heads and stepped back out into the hallway, closing the door behind them as they did.
Once they were alone Hotch looked at Derek and could tell that something was off, he leaned in and said, "what's wrong with you, are you alright?, Derek said, "Hotch, man, I had a nightmare last night, it was coming in flashes". Mia said, "tell us about the dreams, what happened in them?", Derek said, "I could see myself doing things to Penelope", Hotch said, "things, what things?", Derek said, "kissing her, holding her down, ripping her clothes and panties off and forcing myself on her", Hotch and Mia looked at each other and then at Derek to see if that was all.
Derek said, "I saw her fighting me, scratching me, my arms, my neck, my back and she hit me a couple of times on my chest", Mia said, "in your dream did you do anything else to her?", Derek looked down at the table and nodded his head yes. Hotch said, "you need to tell us everything Morgan", Derek said, "I hit her, I hit her hard several times and when I wanted to have sex with her and she fought me I, I", Mia said, "you what?", he said, "I put my hands around her neck and squeezed until she stopped fighting me".
Mia said, "did anything else happen i your dream?", Derek said, "I pushed her down on the bed and ripped her panties off and raped her from behind", he said, "I didn't do that to her, right, I didn't hurt baby girl that way, I couldn't, I wouldn't do that, not to her, not to anybody, not ever".
Hotch looked at Mia and said, "what do you think?", Mia said, "between the drugs and the alcohol", Hotch said, "the hallucinogens were strong and he was given 4 different injections so is it possible that they planted those memories into his head?", Mia said, "it's highly likely that's what they did, they were doing that to Penelope and feeding ideas to him and he was picturing it and it manifested in his dreams last night".
Derek said, "so it doesn't mean that I hurt her, right?", Hotch and Mia shook their heads no and Derek gave a sigh of relief", Mia said, "I'm going to ask for more blood work to see if the hallucinogens are out of his system". Derek and Hotch walked her get up and walk out of the room, Derek then looked at Hotch and said, "so how are things going at the BAU?", Hotch said, "so far we haven't found anything, everybody is accounted for, either in prison or deceased but they are looking again today".
Derek sat back in his seat and said, "what am I gonna do if we can't find anything Hotch?", the older man put his hand on Derek's arm and said, "don't worry we will, we will get you out of here and we will get revenge for Penelope". Derek said, "she was the love of my life man and now that she's gone I don't know what I'm going to do", Hotch said, "it will take some time but slowly we'll start to heal, we all will".
Hotch looked at Derek as he said, "even me?", Hotch said, "yes Morgan, even you, it might not feel like it now but you will", Derek weakly smiled and said, "thank you Hotch for not giving up on me", Hotch said, "that's what family's for Morgan, that's what family's for", the two of them sat and waited for Mia to come back to find out if she got the approval for more blood work and when she came back she said, "I got the approval, someone from the lab will be here soon".
Derek blew out a deep breath and said, "if it will help find out the truth I can do it", Hotch and Mia smiled at him as the trio sat there waiting on the lab tech to arrive to draw his blood, as Mia sat there she started thinking. She said to herself, "with the amount of drugs and alcohol that was in his system last night I bet he's still got most of it there, maybe that's what's making him have such vivid dreams".
She was pulled from her thoughts as the tech arrived and walked over and started drawing Derek's blood, when she was finished she said, "I'll put a rush on these, you should get the results in a couple of hours". Mia smiled and said, "thank you Millie", the younger woman smiled and said, "not a problem", she then turned around and walked out of the room, leaving the trio behind to start talking stragedy for when the trial starts.
