The State Verses Derek Morgan Ch 16
Mia and Derek were talking about what he had done the night of the incident, well the parts that he could remember and Derek was getting upset but who wouldn't have after what he'd been through and she was trying to calm him down when somebody knocked on the interrogation room door.
They both looked around as Mia said, "come in", the door opened to reveal Millie with an envelope in her hands, she walked across the room and handed the envelope to Mia and said, "here you go, sorry that it took so long". Mia said, "what did you find?", Millie said, "alcohol level is almost normal now but the levels of LSD and Mescaline are still really high".
Mia said, "isn't that unusual for them to still be high after almost 48 hours?", she said, "well yes and no" as she took the envelope from Mia and opened it, she then laid the paper on the table so they could see the results. She explained about the absorption rates and how where he'd had multiple injections that would make the medication absorb slower causing the drugs to remain in his system longer", Derek said, "so how much longer will it take before it's out of my system?", Millie said, "it could be 48 to 72 more hours because as you can see the levels are both really elevated".
She pointed to the paper and they could see that the levels were still indeed high, Mia said, "thank you for putting a rush on this for me Millie", she said, "not a problem sooooo I guess I'll get out of your way and if you need anything else just let me know". Mia said, "will do, will do", her and Derek then watched as Millie walked out of the room leaving them alone, Derek then said, "we need to let Hotch know what's going on".
Mia nodded her head yes and pulled her cell from her pocket and laid it down on the table and dialed Hotch's number, after a couple of rings they heard Hotch's voice saying, "what were the results?", Mia said, "alcohol was almost normal but the two drugs he's been injected with, well their levels are still extremely high and they could still take from another 48 to 72 more hours before they are fully out of his system".
Hotch said, "we'll just need to keep a close eye on Morgan Derek sat there listening and said, "watch me for what?", Hotch said, "side effects that didn't initially show up?", Mia and Derek in unison said, "like what?", Hotch said, "if I remember correctly watch for Dyskinesia especially", Derek said, "watch for what?", Hotch said, "tremors in his hands, those are seen most often, especially when the drugs are given in higher amounts".
Hotch had made it to the BAU and was standing with Reid and Shane, he still had his cell on speaker so Derek and Mia could hear Reid and Shane, Derek then said, "pretty boy what other side effects are we looking for?", Reid said, "well you could have short term and long term side effects, especially if your levels remain high for a long period of time".
Derek and Mia listened as Reid said, "mood and emotion swings, sensory perception difficulties, sleeping problems, problems with not wanting to eat or wanting to eat too much, you can have body temperature problems and sexual problems". Derek said, "I'm in jail pretty boy, I don't want to have sex here", Reid laughed and said, "true, true", they listened as Reid continued by saying, "Mia you especially need to watch for trouble with his heart rate, because with high levels his heart rate will fluctuate".
Derek listened as Reid said, "nausea and vomiting, excessive sweating, dilated pupils, paranoia and psychoses, you need to keep an eye out for those and in some rare cases some patients, like 12.34234% will have major strokes".
