The State Verses Derek Morgan Ch 17
At the BAU, Hotch looked at Reid and Shane and said, "give me what you've got again", the two nodded their heads and started telling Hotch the information that they had on the brother/sister team. Hotch said, "okay Shane I need for you to look for footage of the brother and sister, see if you can track them and if you can, track them as far as you can, maybe we'll get lucky".
Shane turned around in the chair and started letting his fingers fly as he started looking through footage, he put the footage on a split screen and watched as both the brother and sister had been seen talking to the same two people minutes prior to their escape. Hotch said, "alright, find out what you can on the people they were talking too, it looks to me like they had help that was brave enough to show their faces to the cameras, let's use that to help find them".
The trio of men turned around when JJ and Emily walked into the room, Hotch looked at his wife and saw that she'd been crying, they both had and he said, "Em, are you alright?", Emily shook her head no and said, "no, I'm far from alright Aaron, far from alright, I don't know if I'll ever be alright again", he then walked over to her and pulled her into his arms and held her tight.
Reid did the same thing to JJ, both women were completely devastated, hell, the whole team was devastated at the loss of Penelope, she was the glue that had held their team together for years and now, now that glue was gone. Shane looked at the two couples and felt so much compassion for them, he knew what it was like to lose somebody that you love, he'd lost too many people and now adding his black queen to the list only made it and him hurt more".
JJ said, "Tasha just called and wanted to know what funeral home we were going to use", Hotch opened his mouth to say something and Dave walked into the room and said, "I've already taken care of it, I've already talked to Tasha and let her know what funeral home will be coming to pick up kitten", JJ and Em looked at Dave and Emily said, "have you already talked to the funeral home?", he said, "I have and I told them that you two would be coming by this afternoon to make arrangements".
Emily reached out and took her friend by the hand and said, "send us the name of the funeral home", Dave pulled out his cell and hit a few keys and sent the name and address of the funeral home to their phones. The women hugged their husbands again and then hugged Dave before turning around and walking out of the room, this would be the final thing they could do for their friend and they would do it for her, they would give her the respect she deserves, the respect the unsub took away from her when he violated her that way and killed her.
As JJ and Emily stepped onto the elevator the tears started flowing again, JJ said, "you and I need to invest in a tissue factory Em", Emily pulled tissues out of her jacket pocket and gave some to JJ as she nodded her head yes. Their friend was gone and no matter what they would find the people that did it and make them pay, they would pay no matter what they had to do to make that happen.
Dave looked at Hotch and said, "how's Derek?", Hotch shook his head and said, "not good, not good at all, he had nightmares all night, he told us what he saw and it sounds to me like he was in the room, with her when she was being killed". Hotch then told Dave, Reid and Shane what Derek had told him and Mia about the nightmares he'd had the night before, Reid said, "no wonder he's having nightmares, he was injected with enough hallucinogens to put down a large elephant",
Shane pulled the men from their conversation and said, "I know who the helpers are, I know who helped the brother and sister escape and it's not good, it's soooooo not good", the men looked down at the screen and at each other. Dave said, "well this information makes things a little more difficult, if it is him, he's got a lot of power, he can pull a lot of strings in this town", Hotch said, "so can we Dave, so can we and it's about time that we show them what real power is".
