Anko took Naruko in off the streets, so that she wouldn't have to endure the hatred of Konoha by herself, because information was leaked about Naruko having the Nine-Tailed Fox sealed away inside her.
Anko was able to figure out by herself, after making eye contact with Naruko, that she was the daughter of Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage, and his wife Kushina Uzumaki, both of whom are now deceased, and this gave Anko extra incentive to take Naruko in and look after her.
As soon as Anko brought Naruko into her home, she immediately made her some scrambled eggs, because Naruko was starving, Anko only had a tray of eggs and some grated cheese left in her fridge, Naruko liked what she fed her, which Anko considered lucky.
After feeding Naruko to tie her over until breakfast the next morning, they went to bed shortly afterwards, Naruko desperately needed a bath, but Anko decided to endure the smell until she could go out and buy some bath produces specifically made for children, they both slept through the night until the following morning.

Chapter 2 – The First Days - Day One

The first morning after she had taken Naruko into her home, Anko woke up to a wet bed. Naruko had wet herself during the night, which meant that Anko had to do laundry first thing in the morning, and while she did the chores, a Shadow Clone she made distracted Naruko.
"For the love of god, I didn't expect to be waking up to having to wash my bedsheets first thing in the morning." Anko complained grumpily. {Note to self, buy Naruko nappies for bedtime until she stops wetting herself.}

It took Anko about an hour to do her laundry, during which she decided to also wash her clothes that needed it, thus killing two birds with one stone, and hung them out to dry on the balcony of her apartment, which wasn't on the ground floor of the apartment complex where she lived, after finishing that Anko went into the kitchen to make breakfast for herself and Naruko.

Anko only had a few eggs and some grated cheese left in the fridge, so she decided to use it all for a cheese omelette, which Naruko liked. {At the very least I know that Naruko likes eggs.} Anko thought smiling warmly at the little girl.
{That's it, I've used up everything I had left in, it should be enough to tie us over until dinner, but I need to go shopping today to buy more food and drinks, because there is literally nothing left for dinner later.} Anko had to help Naruko because she didn't yet know how to use a knife and fork, or how to use her fingers to break her omelette into smaller pieces so it was easier to eat.

After eating breakfast, helping Naruko finish hers and washing the dishes, because Anko likes a clean home, a character trait instilled in her by her mother. Anko creates a Shadow Clone to take care of Naruko so she can go shopping without the whole village trying to pick a fight with her for carrying around the Demon Girl.
At least not today, also Naruko smells really bad. {I know I hate Konoha and would love to see it flattened by an asteroid or something, but I'm not cruel enough to expose it to that smell, how I managed to survive last night only god knows.} Thought Anko, just on the off chance Naruko was a super genius in disguise and understood that Anko had just insulted her.

Grocery Store

Anko visits the nearest grocery store because she literally has nothing in for her and Naruko to eat for dinner, but now that she has a second mouth to feed, she has to buy a whole lot more than what she usually would.
Her second mouth is a baby turning toddler, so she must buy food and drinks suitable for a small child. {Naruko is malnourished and underweight, getting her back to a healthy state is my top priority, but I don't want to give her anything overly processed, and as for feeding her vegetables, my Mum used to hide them in mashed potatoes, which helped mask the taste until I got used to eating them, I'll do something similar with Naruko.} Anko's mind was filled with thoughts revolving around Naruko's health and what she should and shouldn't feed her.
{As for buying drinks, I could make sure we only drink tap water because that would be much cheaper than buying drinks, but I can't help but feel that as being really mean spirited, I would occasionally buy alcohol for myself, but now that I'm taking care of a child, I won't be buying that anymore. I should buy some squash, fresh fruit juice and maybe some milk, I think cereal would be a good thing to have in, rather than me having to cook every morning.} Anko has never had to put so much thought into her shopping before, in the past she'd just buy what she needed and be done with it, but now that she has an extra mouth to feed and a very young one at that, she can't be as carefree about it as she used to be.
Normally Anko would only carry a small shopping basket that the shop provides to use to buy only the things she needs, but now that she's also shopping for a child, she as to use a shopping trolley that the shop also provides to its customers. After shopping, Anko puts everything in scrolls to make it easier to transport it all.
As for paying, Anko uses her snakes to threaten the checkout clerks or the store owners themselves into not ripping her off by overcharging her because they don't like her, and to stop them from undercharging her for things that aren't shown as discounted, because Anko has morals, while it's clear that the villagers of Konoha have none.
Makeup and Body Care Store

Anko's next stop is the nearest make-up and body care shop to buy bath products made specifically for children, as well as to get nappies for bedtime until Naruko stops wetting herself.
{The first thing I'm doing when I get home is giving Naruko a much needed bath, she probably hasn't had one in over a week, certainly not in the last three days, her smell consists strongly of urine and faeces, but there is also a smell of blood in there from being beaten up.} It was a bad smell, Anko could block her sense of smell by directing her chakra away from her nose, hence why she survived last night.

Anko has bought everything she set out to buy, she is making her way home, her Shadow Clone has not yet been dispelled as she hasn't yet received any memories from it, so Naruko hasn't found a way to murder it while she was out shopping, Anko looks at her receipts.
"Thank god for all the extra shifts and missions I've taken on over the years, because I've just learned about the single biggest deterrent to having children, the cost." Anko had to be especially vigilant that the shops didn't overcharge her because they didn't like her, or undercharge her because she isn't scum.
Anko's Apartment

After getting back home, Anko instructed her Shadow Clone to put away everything she had bought while she personally took Naruko into the bathroom to give her a bath, because only god knows how long it's been since she last had one.
Anko washed Naruko thoroughly from head to toe, which she did twice to ensure that Naruko was absolutely clean. During Naruko's bath, Anko noticed that all the injuries Naruko had all over her body had already completely healed. {Her injuries have already healed, is that because of the Nine-Tailed Fox? Is it passively speeding up her healing and recovery rate, I don't know, but it's something I'll need to keep observing.}

"Naruko, I'm about to start washing your hair, you must keep your eyes tightly shut, the shampoo will sting your eyes if it touches them," Anko said with a tone of authority in her voice.
"Kay." Replied Naruko with a smile, she was really enjoying this bath, it was nice and warm and Anko's hands rubbing her all over her body were kind and gentle.
Naruko did end up getting shampoo in her eyes, she began panicking and crying. "It urs, it eelee urs!" Naruko absolutely hated it.
"That's why I told you to keep your eyes closed!" Anko properly shouted at Naruko. "Now keep still so I can make them better!" Anko got Naruko to hold still and with a towel gently rubbed Naruko's eyes to make them feel better until the stinging had gone.
After Anko hugs Naruko because she feels terrible for shouting at her, she wants Naruko to feel loved. "I am so sorry for shouting at you." {I promise that I will only ever scold her when I absolutely have to and for no other reason.}

After giving Naruko a bath, Anko took her into the living room to watch television for a couple of hours with Naruko sitting on her lap.
Anko thought she was going to hate watching the children's television channel, but she enjoyed it. She didn't like the shows themselves, they were mind-numbingly simple, stupid and felt extremely condescending to her, but for a very young child they were fun and stimulating because they encouraged them to engage with the shows.
And Naruko was very much engaging with the shows they watched and that is what made them a pleasure for Anko to watch. Moreover, Naruko's infectious energy poured out of her like water escaping from a broken dam, it was a heart-warming energy that made Anko forget her worries, rid her of her dark thoughts and melted away her negative feelings, Naruko's presence causes Anko to become a pure of heart for the time she is within it.
Anko wasn't only bonding with Naruko at this moment, she also began to develop genuine feelings of love for the little girl she had brought into her home, the little girl who is healing her wounded heart from all the suffering she has endured over the past three years, the feelings of a mother.
Three years if you count the death of Anko's mother and the abuse she's suffered in the village after her father's crimes were exposed, and false rumours of her involvement in them began to spread.

After several hours of watching children's shows on TV and some nature documentaries on a nature channel, Anko made dinner of breaded fish, carrots and mashed potatoes.
In order not to risk Naruko giving her hell for trying to feed her vegetables on their own, Anko put mash potato around each carrot before feeding it to Naruko, which she ate without any problems.
{I was notorious for not eating my vegetables when I was Naruko's age, that was until my Mum came up with this idea of coating the icky, nasty vegetables in mashed potatoes to mask their awful taste, it worked and I started eating them without any problems using this method, it took me a while to be able to eat them without this method, but the moral of the story is that it worked, she told me that when I turned ten years old, hindsight really is a wonderful thing.} Anko reminiscing on happy memories of her mother.
Anko had to help Naruko from the beginning, because she did not want Naruko to use her fingers for this meal and make a huge mess. {Then again I probably ate them because my Dad and I were terrified of my Mum when she got angry, especially when we made a mess in the house, because as they say, there is nothing more fearsome to a child than their mother, in my father's case his wife.} Anko grinned as she remembered how she and her father use to hide in terror together when they made messes in the house, because her mother would seriously scold them for it, which included plenty of slaps.
Anko's Bedroom

After dinner Anko and Naruko watched some Disney movies for a while, Anko didn't want to put Naruko to bed too early, luckily Naruko being an Uzumaki had a lot of stamina so she didn't get tired as quickly as other children, so it will not be difficult to keep Naruko between waking up at seven in the morning and going to bed at eight in the afternoon without taking a nap in between.
Anko put a nappy on Naruko so she wouldn't wet the bed this time. {I'll probably have to wash the bedding again tomorrow morning due to it smelling of urine, but at least they won't be soaked in urine this time.} Anko hopes that the nappies she bought for Naruko aren't completely useless.
Anko put Naruko to bed and stayed with her until the little girl fell asleep, which was quite quickly, Anko then summoned one of her snakes. "Hey Noki, can you watch Naruko for me please, I need to go out for a bit and do some shinobi work but I don't want to leave her unprotected, do you mind doing that?" Anko asked the Burmese Pyphon.
"Yes, I will protect this girl with my life, Princess." Replied Noki faithfully to Anko.
"Thank you, my friend." Said Anko sincerely.
Anko wanted to go out for a while to do some D-rank missions. {I don't want to use up all my savings to look after Naruko, although I'd much rather do harder, more challenging missions, I don't want to be away from her for too long, even if D-rank missions are just glorified chores, what matters is that they bring in money." Anko was not going to be picky about what brought in an income, now that she is taking care of a child.

Two hours after Anko had put Naruko to bed and gone off to complete some D-rank missions, several of which she managed to complete with the help of Shadow Clones, Anko returned home to find Naruko sound asleep and Noki dutifully guarding her.
"Thank you for doing that Noki. you can now return home and get some rest." Anko relieved Noki of his duty and thus returned home.
Anko went to bed, the only problem was that she only had one bed, Anko had a spare bedroom, it just wasn't furnished, which Anko knew she'd have to change at some point in the future, but for now it meant that she and Naruko would be sharing a bed for a while, which worried Anko.
Worried that she might accidentally roll on top of Naruko and crush her in her sleep, but Anko's worries were for nothing, she always woke up before rolling on top of Naruko, once she even woke up because Naruko was having a nightmare which she calmed down by gently massaging the little girl, after which Anko lovingly cuddled Naruko for the rest of the night so both could sleep peacefully, they slept through until the next morning.
