A/N: I decided to continue the story. It restarts soon after the end of the last chapter. As a warning it will be slightly slower paced than the last 150 or so chapters, with more focus on some of the family dynamics. But there will still be plenty of angst and later on action.
As Kara threw some bags in the back of her sister's car she looked at her nephew and asked.
"You ready?"
"Yes." He said sounding excited.
"I told mom as you were getting there early you could do all the chores." The adult Alex said to her son.
"What?" He asked looking worried.
"It's only fair." Alex said hugging him before looking at her sister. "We'll see you in a few hours."
"See you soon." Kara said before hugging her daughter. "Sure you don't want me to come back for you?"
"No. Alex said she'll tell me lot's of stories about you on the ride." The teenager said.
"Did she?" Kara asked looking at her sister who shrugged. She then looked at MJ and asked. "Ready?"
"Yes." He confirmed.
"Let's go then." She said changing into her Supergirl costume before grabbing hold of him and taking to the skies.
"Ten bucks says he barfs before they arrive." The teenage Kara said to her mother.
"No, he'll make it all the way, then barf." Her mother said before looking at the two remaining teens. "Okay, let's go." With that the trio and Chewie climbed into the car and started the long drive to Midvale.

"Hello you two." Eliza said hugging her daughter and grandson as they walked into the kitchen.
"Hi Eliza." Kara said as MJ backed out of the hug.
"You okay there?" Kara asked her nephew.
"Yeah, I'm going to warm up." He said leaving the room.
"Is he okay?" Eliza asked.
"Flying is not for everyone. Or he is trying to get out of the chores Alex said were waiting for him." Kara shrugged. "How are you?"
"I'm fine. You don't need to worry about me. You already have plenty of worries of your own." Eliza pointed out.
"I'm fine." Kara said.
"How's Alex, the younger one, dealing with everything?" Eliza pressed.
"Up until three weeks ago Fels was kind of an abstract concept for her. But now she has a hologram of him, which is great. But she has convinced herself that Fels' family are bad and that makes her bad in someway."
"Maybe a break from National City is what you both need." Eliza said.
"I hope so. But it's not just that." She said as MJ came back into the room.
"Feeling better?" Eliza asked her grandson.
"I'm fine." He said.
"Good, because I need to go and pick up some food and I could use a bag carrier."
"Sure." He said.
"We'll be back soon." Eliza said to Kara. "We'll finish this later."

"How fast did you drive?" Kara asked when she met the new arrivals on the drive, hugging her daughter as she did so.
"At the limit." Her sister shrugged.
"When did MJ throw up?" The teenage Kara asked getting out of the car.
"He thew up?" The older Kara asked confused.
"So not on the flight over." The teenager said sounding disappointed.
"Told you." Her mother said passing her daughter a bag from the trunk. "Where are the others?" Alex asked passing more bags out.
"Back in town. Eliza and MJ went shopping for groceries after we got here, but forgot something important so went back." The adult Kara explained. "They'll be back soon. In the mean time Eliza said we could decide sleeping arrangements." She then looked at the two teenagers and said. "I assumed you two would have the strongest preference."
"We'll take the den." The two teens said almost simultaneously.
"I guess we have our old room." The older Alex said looking at her sister. She then looked at the teens and said. "You two go unpack. Then Alex go to the garage and find a board. After MJ gets back we'll go surfing."
-00-
Once both Alexes and MJ had paddled on their boards out into the water the adult Alex looked at her niece and said.
"Good. Okay, the first thing you need to get used to is being under water."
"I thought you surfed on the waves not under them." The teen said.
"You do. But you are going to fall into the water a lot." Alex said. "So first we'll get you used to falling off your board. So when you are ready stand on the board like I taught you then I am going to knock you off."
"Don't worry, it works." MJ assured his cousin who nodded and stood on the board moments before Alex tilted the board sending her into the water.
As the teenage Alex fell into the water she took a moment to get used to the water before kicking towards the surface. As her head broke through the water she saw her aunt looking down at her, ready to help if needed.
"You okay?" The older Alex asked.
"I'm fine." The teenager said getting back on the board.
"Good. Let's go again."

"Why are you looking so stressed?" Eliza asked as she approached her youngest who sat on the beach watching the trio in the water while stroking Chewie.
"Alex is surfing. She has a lot of drowning trauma to get through and I was just thinking what if it induces flashbacks and-"
"Kara she will be fine." Eliza assured her as she sat down next to her. "Right now I am more worried about you."
"Me? Why?"
"Kara you are an incredibly strong person, you have to be after everything you have been through. But everyone has their breaking point and I am worried you are going to approach yours and not even realise it."
"I'm okay." Kara said.
"No you're not."
"No I'm not." Kara confirmed. "But not for the reasons you are saying."
"Then what?"
"Alex was having a nightmare and I went into wake her and suddenly I had this really vivid image in my head of me drowning. According to the DEO information, memory projection might be a power of the Dakran's, which means Alex might have that power and if she does that was her memory. But it wasn't just the image, when I saw it I was terrified, so was she projecting her feelings as well? And if she was, how is she coping with all of this and why hasn't she told me?"
"You rarely talk about your nightmares, even now." Eliza pointed out. "All you can do is be there for her so if she wants to talk she knows she can."
"Grandma." The teenage Kara called approaching them. "Jessica is on the phone." She added holding out Eliza's phone.
"Thanks Sweetie." She said getting to her feet and taking the phone from her granddaughter and heading back towards the house.
"You not surfing?" The older Kara asked her niece.
"No."
"I kinda thought now your leg is better you'd be out there." The older Kara said.
"I never really got into surfing." The teenager said. "When we were up here and mom and I argued, which we did all the time, mom would go surfing to try and calm down and I would go on walks."
"What did Kelly do?" The older Kara asked.
"She sent MJ to go surfing and calm mom down further, while she came to find me and try to get me to admit it was at least partly my fault." The teen said. "She spent so long playing peacemaker. Sometimes I wonder if that made her feel less important in some way."
"When we were growing up in Midvale, and even after that, Eliza and Alex would argue all the time and I spent a lot of the time trying to smooth things over. But that didn't make me feel like I was less important and it never made me feel like I wasn't part of the family." Seeing a tear roll down her niece's face she asked. "Hey, what's wrong?"
"Sorry." Her niece said wiping away the tear. "I just miss her."
"Of course you do." Kara said hugging her. "Do you still find it hard to talk about her?"
"No. I just don't want to make things worse."
"What do you mean?"
"Mom was really struggling, I mean she wouldn't even visit the grave and she always thought that I preferred- It doesn't matter. I was worried if I talked about how much I missed her it would make it worse for her."
"I get that." The older Kara said before pointing to her niece's phone. "Do you have photos on that?" Seeing her niece look at her like she was an idiot the older Kara said. "Okay stupid question. I was just wondering if you wanted to show me some of the things I missed when I was away. I mean I assume you have some great pictures of both of your moms. How about you show them to me and I'll tell you stories of what they used to get up to?"
-00-
As the teenage Alex started to ride a small wave she remained oblivious to the large wave heading towards until it slammed into her sending her flying into the water
As the teen sank through the water she felt the water tug at her and she began to panic at being unable to break through to the surface. But before she had too much time to think about it she felt arms wrap round her and pull her to the surface.
"You okay?" MJ asked as he helped her rest on her board.
"I'm fine. Thanks." She said.
"You two alright?" The adult Alex asked joining them.
"Yes." MJ said.
"Good. You might want to wave at your mom." The adult Alex pointed out having noticed Kara was standing on the beach ready to fly over. Having seen her sister relax Alex looked at her niece and asked. "Want a break?"
"Can we keep going?" The teenager asked.
"Sure." Alex agreed.
-00-
"This brings back memories." The adult Kara said as she lay on her childhood bed that night.
"Yes it does." Her sister agreed.
"So is there hope for Alex and surfing?"
"She is way better than you. And she doesn't cheat. Of course she needs a little more awareness, but that will come." Alex said lying on her back looking at the ceiling. "And well done not flying in for the rescue."
"I was so close. But Kara pointed out Alex wouldn't appreciate it."
"You are taking parenting advice from Kara? As in my daughter?" Alex asked amused.
"Apparently so."
"So that's what you two were talking about?"
"No. Not really." Her sister said cryptically.
"Then what?"
"Kelly."
"She never talks about Kelly." Alex said rolling onto her side and looking at her sister. "Was she okay?"
"I think so. I think she thinks it is not okay to talk about Kelly in front of you." Kara said.
"Why?"
"Because it upsets you." Kara said rolling to face her sister.
"Thank you for being there for her." Alex said while wondering what she could do to fix things.
