"Morning." The adult Alex said as her sister entered the kitchen the next morning. "How was the aquarium?"
"Good, I guess. I have an idea about the metas." Kara said.
"Kara you are meant to be taking it easy." Alex pointed out.
"I am. This came to me when I was out with Alex last night."
"You mean when you were Supergirl? Don't think I didn't see the news."
"Yeah, that's my point."
"Go on." Alex said sensing she wouldn't win the argument and might as well roll with it.
"When I came back Cat told me about all the metas who were heroes. But when we were at the harbour and no one came quickly it got me thinking. Why?"
"Why what?" Alex asked.
"Why did no hero step in?"
"They don't think they are needed?" Alex asked. "Plus during the battle with Mongul a lot of them showed their true colours."
"What if they didn't? What if someone exploited that situation?" Kara pressed.
"What do you mean?" Alex asked still not following.
"What if they felt they couldn't make a difference here any more so looked for somewhere they could. So they run off to a new city to kick start their hero career. Only they don't, they never make it because someone has taken them."
"You mean Stagg?"
"They'd be perfect candidates for an underground fight club."
"It's worth looking into." Alex said.
"Which is exactly what I am going to do, as Kara. CatCo is going to look into the missing heroes."
"Does Cat know?"
"Know what?"
"That you are about to be promoting heroes that aren't Supergirl?"
"She'll be fine. Probably." Kara said.
"So, how are you doing?"
"Alex was right, I have been neglecting her."
"What are you talking about?"
"She spends so much time at the Aquarium she was able to hold her own with Carter's boss. But I didn't even know she went. And if I didn't know that, what else don't I know?"
"Did you ask Alex about it?"
"She said I had more important things to worry about."
"It sounds like she's trying to protect you." Alex said. "Which doesn't surprise me as she takes after you. And last night she seemed pretty happy, although she knows something is wrong with you. Apparently you were being super happy and then super guilty."
"What did you tell her?"
"The best way to help is to stay out of trouble."
"Are you going to follow that advice too?" Kara asked.
"Said the kettle to the pot." Alex said. "Seriously though, you okay?"
"I think so. Maybe. I don't know. Everything is happening so fast."
"It's okay to take a break." Alex said. "Which is why I don't want to see you at the DEO today." She added as her daughter walked into the kitchen, grabbed a breakfast bar and walked out.
"Where are you going?" Alex asked walking after her.
"It's Sunday so out." The teenager said as she reached the front door.
"Out where?" Alex pressed as MJ shouted downstairs. "Mom! Where are my sneakers?"
"Where you left them." Alex shouted back, turning to face the stairs. As she did so her daughter left the house.
"I will kill her." Alex said looking at the door moments before MJ jogged downstairs, heading straight for the front door. "Where are you going?"
"Out." He said before looking at his aunt and asking. "Where's Alex?"
"Just walking Chewie." Kara said. "She'll be back any minute."
"Okay." He said leaving the house.
"I am so going to get them fitted with trackers." Alex said as her phone rang.
"What?" She barked down the phone. "When? Fine, I'll be right there."
"Problem?" Kara asked.
"Kendell wants to meet. He has information."
"I'll meet you there." Kara said.
"You are meant to be taking it easy." Alex reminded her.
"I am. I am just attending a meeting. Besides with your mood it is probably safer for everyone if I am there."

"Director. Sorry for contacting you on a Sunday, but I thought you'd like to hear the news." Kendell said as he was shown into her office.
"Kinda of depends on the news." Alex said. "What do you have?"
"I looked into the lead you gave me about Central City and you were right."
"You found something?" Alex asked trying to keep a poker face.
"Yes. Well maybe. It's nothing conclusive, but it supports your hunch." He said pointing at chair. When Alex nodded he sat down and said.
"As you know Joiner was in charge of the operation and when we went after him we found he had fingers in several pies. It took awhile to find them all. And it turned out we missed a couple. Probably more. But following your tip off we looked for companies that had once had a connection to Joiner. It turns out way before Sloane Syndicate Joiner funded a group of companies that made components for turbines. Those companies were never brought under the Sloane Syndicate umbrella so weren't investigated. However, my team started to look into them and we found out they own several distribution warehouse. We placed them under surveillance and noticed a lot of traffic. Last night there was an illegal fight club held there. We think it might me a proving ground for the real thing. We will keep the warehouses under surveillance and run further checks on Joiner's past. And of course we will keep you updated and in return, any leads you get I'd appreciate a head's up."
"Of course." Alex said.
"And regarding Lena Luthor did you think about what I asked?"
"I did. But Lena is not involved and she won't be getting involved."
-00-
"You heard that?" Alex asked her sister who entered the office once Kendell had gone.
"Every word. So what now?"
"It confirmed my suspicions that he can't be trusted. But I'm amazed he fell for it. Unless he is testing us. But technically we can't investigate, we have no jurisdiction. But if we don't look into it he will get suspicious. So I will get some of my team to follow the lead and find the evidence that points to it being planted. It might give us a way in. On that note I am going to go brief the team."
"Okay, I'll wait here."

Noticing Supergirl had disappeared Alex headed down to the gym where she saw her sister in a red lamp room attacking a punch bag.
"You okay?" Alex asked entering the room.
"Just working out some stress."
"I thought you'd gone." Alex said.
"No where to go. Alex has gone to the movies with MJ and some guys from school." Kara said.
"Did she mention Kara?" Alex asked.
"No. Maybe she is at the library studying." Her sister suggested.
"I think you need to eat something, clearly your blood sugar has plummeted so low that you are saying crazy things."
"I am hungry." Kara agreed.
"Let's go get some lunch." Alex said. "I'll drive, you see if Lena is free."
-00-
"Do you want me to contact Lex?" Lena asked as the trio ate lunch.
"No." Alex said.
"Besides if we really wanted to get his attention I'd go see him." Kara said.
"Which is not happening." Alex and Lena said in almost unison.
"Lex craves attention. If you go see him he'll see it as a victory." Lena explained.
"Besides now Kendell has all but proved he is corrupt we can be fairly confident Lex isn't involved. Unless it is a double bluff. Either way you aren't seeing Lex." Alex followed up.
"Fine I won't see him." Kara said holding her hands up defensively.
"Do you want me to look into Kendell?" Lena asked. "I still have plenty of investigators on my payroll."
"We can't do anything that will make it look like we are onto him." Alex said.

"How was the movie?" Kara asked when her daughter returned home.
"Okay I guess. MJ liked it, but it seemed to be the same as one we saw last month, car chases, gun fights, fist fights."
"That is why you should watch the classics." Kara said.
"Where they break out singing every two minutes?"
"That's one genre, but there are plenty of others." Kara pointed out.
"How come you are back?" Alex asked.
"Aren't I allowed to be?"
"Sure. But in your message you said you were going to see Lena."
"And I did, but now I am back, so we can hang out."
"Is this because of what I said to you?" Alex asked feeling guilty.
"In part." Kara said. "But the bigger part is I like spending time with you. And I want you to be happy."
"You know I need time to get used to change. And I like having cousins. And I like having a home we aren't going to leave in a few weeks. But sometimes I miss seeing you so much." The teen said.
"I know it has been hard and I know I have spent less time with you, but that isn't because I don't want to."
"I know."
"Do you?" Kara asked.
"Yes."
"Really, beca-" Kara started to say only for Alex to cut her off.
"I know I was horrible to you and I know you want to talk about what I said. But I didn't mean it. But if you really want to talk about it I will, but only if you first tell me what you would you have said me if you got to me when you were on Red-K." The teen said. "Or we can just drop it and take Chewie for a walk."
On hearing the w world Chewie jumped up and ran to the door.
"Looks like Chewie has given you a way out." The teen said. "You coming?"
"Sure." Kara said wondering if Alex had a future career in law waiting for her.
As Kara grabbed her jacket her daughter said.
"Mom."
"Yes." Kara said facing her.
"I love you."
"Love you too." Kara said hugging her. "But not enough to let you pick dinner."
