When Kara and her daughter, along with Chewie, entered Alex's house the next morning, the bruised teenage Kara was already sitting at the table.
"How are feeling?" Kara asked her niece before hugging her from behind, unwittingly causing her niece to have a momentary flashback. Feeling her tense the older Kara immediately released her niece who said without looking up from her uneaten toast.
"Okay I guess."
"What about Diz?"
"He's back home."
"Already?" The older Kara asked surprised.
"Apparently it was more a of a flesh wound than anything serious. Plus he didn't want to see mom." She then looked over to her aunt and asked. "Did you say anything to mom?"
"About the infirmary?" The older Kara asked, guess she was talking about the kiss. When the teen nodded she said. "No. You mom has enough to worry about for now. You can tell her when you are ready."
"Hi guys." The adult Alex said entering the kitchen with MJ.
"Hi." Her sister replied.
"Kara is staying here today. I don't think there will be any problems, but be careful and look out for each other." She said looking from MJ to the teenage Alex.
"We will." MJ said. "We better go."
"See you later." The teenage Alex said to her mother hugging her goodbye.
"Be careful." The adult Kara said looking at her. "I'll see you tonight."
"You sure you don't want me to stay here today?" Alex asked her daughter once the other two teens had left.
"I'll be okay. Besides Chewie will be here." The teenager said.
"Okay, but I'm not leaving until you have eaten breakfast."
"I'm not hungry." The teenager said.
"You need to eat with the painkillers." Alex reminded her.
"Fine." The teenager said taking a bite of toast.
"Maybe I should stay here." Alex said, not happy with her daughter being alone.
"I'll be okay. I am just going to sleep anyway." The teenager said, not wanting a full fay of interrogation by her mother.
"Are you sure?" Alex pressed.
"Yes." Kara said having another bite of toast.
"Okay. Call if you need anything." Alex said kissing her daughter goodbye.

"You okay? You look tired." Kara commented to her sister as they drove to the DEO.
"Kara didn't get much sleep last night." Alex sighed.
"Not surprising." Kara said. "How are you coping?"
"None of this makes sense. I mean we know that whoever attacked Kara were linked to Kai in someway, because they had the contact lenses. But they weren't dressed like gang members and Kara may have recognised one of their voices." Alex replied.
"She did?" Kara asked.
"Maybe." Alex said. "But she doesn't know from where."
"It may not be Kai. I mean the ones who used the contact lenses before were higher up the chain than just gang members." Supergirl reminded her. "But what gets me is Diz said when he was stabbed they freaked out. The group we saw before wouldn't have cared."
"So you think the contact lenses have got into wider circulation?" Alex asked.
"Or it is someone linked to Sloane Syndicate."
"What if it was Holtz? His father was connected to Sloane who were connected to Kai. What if his father had some of those contact lenses?" Alex asked.
"Is Holtz bright enough to do something like that?" Supergirl asked.
"No idea. But I need to find out what else was found when they raided the homes."
"So you talking to Kendell?"
"I think I have to. I don't see how I can avoid it."
"The IRS." Kara said.
"What?"
"They did some of the raids. You could start with them."
"Why didn't I think of that."
"Because you are tired, stressed and shaken."

"How's Diz?" Supergirl asked Wildcat as she entered the gym for her training session.
"An odd mix between a wounded bear and a lovesick puppy." Wildcat shrugged. "What about Kara?"
"Telling everyone she is fine."
"Alex seems disturbingly calm." Wildcat said.
"Yeah, that worries me." Supergirl said.
"Whoever did this deserves the hell she will unleash on them." Wildcat said.
"True, but we don't know who is behind this and unleashing hell on the innocent won't help anyone." Supergirl said taking up her stance.
"No one is truly innocent." Wildcat said blocking Supergirl's first punch.
"What is it about this place and paranoia?" Supergirl asked.

"How are you feeling?" Alex asked her daughter when she got home that afternoon.
"Okay I guess." The teenage Kara said from where she was lying on the couch with Chewie and her phone.
"Did you get any sleep?"
"Not really."
"Do you want to take Chewie out for his walk. Fresh air may help?" Alex suggested.
"No. I kind of ache all over."
"Let me know if it gets worse." Alex said frowning.
"Sure." The teen said.
"Did you have lunch?"
"No." Kara said sitting up.
"Then you need to have a decent dinner. You can pick what we have." Alex said as she sat next to her daughter. "Want to talk about what happened?" She asked as the front door opened and shut again.
"We're back." MJ announced walking into the room and tossing his bag on a chair, followed by his cousin.
"How was school?" Alex asked.
"Boring." MJ shrugged.
"Can you two take Chewie for a walk?" Alex asked.
"Sure." The teenage Alex said as Chewie excitedly jumped up and down.
"Actually I think I'll go with them." The teenage Kara said standing. "You're right, fresh air may help."
"Okay, but don't push yourself too hard." Alex said.

"Where are the kids?" The adult Kara asked as she came into the house holding a box.
"Walking Chewie." Alex said.
"Even Kara?"
"Yes. But she might be doing that to avoid talking to me. What's in the box?"
"Kara's favourite. Carrot cake from GiGi's." The adult Kara explained.
"Isn't that in Boston?"
"Yes." Kara said.
"I'm sure she'll appreciate it." Alex said.
"So how was she?"
"She didn't really say very much." Alex replied, her tone frustrated.
"She takes after you." Kara reminded her. "She is strong but unbelievably stubborn."
"Are you guys staying for dinner?" Alex asked.
"Do you want us to? Kara questioned.
"Having Alex as well as MJ might help Kara more." Alex said.
"Then we'll stay." Kara said as the three teens and dog returned. "Hi guys." Kara smiled before handing her niece the box explaining. "Carrot cake from GiGi's."
"Thanks." The teenager said taking the box. Taking in where is was from she asked. "You went to Boston?"
"I did." Her aunt smiled.

"I am pretty sure Kara is avoiding me." Alex complained to her sister after dinner, when the three teens had disappeared upstairs.
"If she is like you, which she is, she'll want to avoid talking about what happened, and knows full well you will want to talk about what happened." The adult Kara pointed out as she placed all the dishes in the dishwasher.
"I know you have a lot on right now and I don't want to add to it, but-" Alex started only for her sister to cut in.
"I will be there for Kara, however she needs me."
"Thanks." Alex smiled as her phone rang.
"It's Vasquez." Alex said looking at the screen before answering.
Giving her some space Kara moved to the lounge and sat on the couch waiting. Eventually Alex came in and Kara asked.
"Everything okay?"
"NCPD couldn't get hits from any of the DNA they collected at the scene so handed over copies of the evidence, but we couldn't get hits either. All we know is they were human."
"If there weren't hits doesn't that confirm they weren't Kai?" Kara asked.
"Not really. Not every gang member had a record." Alex said. "All it confirms is we have nothing."
