As the teenage Kara walked through the school corridor the next day she was acutely aware of the pointing and the whispering. Sighing she grabbed her books and went outside hoping to find some peace. As she walked towards the football field she became aware of how deserted the area was. But despite that she suddenly felt like she wasn't alone and she wasn't safe. Causing her to turn walk back towards the main building only to walk into MJ and Alex.
"We were looking for you." MJ said oblivious to his sister's stress levels.
"You were? Why?" Kara asked trying to look calm.
"I need you to tell mom I'll be back late."
"Where are you going?" His sister asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
"Out with the guys. I won't be back as late as you after your dates with Diz."
"They weren't dates." She said before looking at her cousin. "You going to?"
"No." The teenage Alex said.
"I thought you were?" MJ said confused.
"I've got some assignments I need to finish. I'll go straight home."
"What assignments?" MJ asked getting more confused.
"The book assignment."
"That's not due for three weeks." MJ said.
"And I have chess matches coming up."
"You are such a nerd. But suit yourself." He said.
"I'll meet you by the gate after school." The teenage Alex said to Kara.
"Sure."

"What are you doing?" Supergirl asked approaching her sister who was sat at her desk.
"The IRS gave me their records of the searches. I am trying to figure out if anything was found that might be relevant."
"Like a box of contacts marked, 'for mind control of teenagers'?" Kara asked.
"Something like that." Alex said.
"And?"
"The IRS log like accountants."
"They are accountants." Kara reminded her.
"Yeah well they have logged everything right down to paperclips, it will take me years to go through this."
"Here." Supergirl said holding out her hand causing Alex to pass her the tablet. Once Alex had passed it to her she started to scroll through the information using superspeed.
"Hmm." Supergirl said after a minute.
"What?"
"This is the list of what they took from Holtz's senior, both home and office."
"And?" Alex asked. "You found something?"
"No. I found the lack of something."
"What do you mean?" Alex asked.
"Like you said the IRS list everything, but there is no mention of the will, there is very little jewellery. I think there is a hidden safe somewhere."
"We should go look."
"We can't just go in there and look." Kara said. "Even with your fake FBI credentials."
"But you could look from the outside." Alex said.
-00-
"You didn't have to walk home with me." The teen Kara said to her cousin as they started their walk home.
"You looked like you didn't want to walk alone." The teenage Alex said.
"I guess I'm still a little jumpy. But I would have been okay. But thank you."
"Sure." The teenage Alex said. "Want to talk about it?"
"Not really" The teenage Kara said. "What about you?"
"What about me?"
"What's bothering you?" The teenage Kara pressed.
"It doesn't matter."
"Right now I want to not think about what happened." Kara said. "So maybe if I focus on your problems it will take my mind of mine."
"What do you think is wrong with mom?" The teenage Alex asked.
"What do you mean?"
"She's acting differently. You've seen it too. You even asked her about it the other night when you crept in late into the apartment."
"You heard that?" The teenage Kara asked.
"Yes."
"Then you also heard your mom's reply."
"Did you believe it?" Her cousin asked.
"I don't know."
-00-
"This is a bad idea." Kara said as she sat in Alex's car.
"No it's not. All you have to do is look into the house using your x-ray vision. No one will ever no."
"And if I do see something safe like?"
"Then I will ask the IRS why they didn't find it."
"Okay, but I am not going inside."
"I'm not asking you to." Alex reminded her.
"I don't have unlimited range." Kara reminded her.
"So we need to get closer?"
"How can we get closer? I mean there is a gate." Kara reminded her.
"I don't know." Alex conceded.
"Stay here." Kara instructed getting out of the car and walking up to the house.
"What are you doing?" Alex asked no one in particular as she watched her sister disappear.
-00-
"Let's go." Kara said when she got back into the car fifteen minutes later.
"What were you thinking?" Alex asked driving off. "What happened to you plan of not going inside?"
"I couldn't see. And if I hadn't gone in you would have done something stupid."
"No I wouldn't." Alex protested, but when she saw the look her sister was giving her she said. "Fine, I may have done something stupid. How did you get in?"
"I played the reporter card. I said CatCo was investigating hat happened and wanted to give them the chance to tell their side of the story."
"And they bought it?"
"Well the maid did and she showed me into the lounge where I could then use my x-ray vision before Holtz's wife came in and kicked me out of the house. But I was right there is a safe, under the floorboards of the bedroom. So what now?"
"I'll talk to the IRS and ask why they didn't find the safe. They may be able to do another raid. If they can't then we'll do something else."
"That sounds like you are planning something illegal." Kara pointed out.
"When did you get a law degree?" Alex asked. "Don't worry, it will be fine."
-00-
"Hi guys." Kara said entering her sister's house and seeing two teens.
"Hi mom." The teenage Alex said as her niece said.
"Hi."
"I thought you were hanging with MJ tonight?" The adult Kara asked her daughter.
"I changed my mind." Her daughter said.
"Everything okay?" The older Kara asked.
"Yes, I just wanted to finish an assignment."
"Okay." Her mother said before looking at the teenage Kara and asking.
"How's Diz?"
"I haven't seen him."
"I'm sorry, I thought Earth had phones and emails." The adult Kara teased. "Or do you only communicate via physical contact?"
"Hi." The adult Alex said entering the kitchen, but seeing how flushed her daughter was looking she frowned and asked. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
"You sure? You look flushed. Maybe you are getting MJ's cold." She said.
"I'm okay." The teenager repeated.
"Well, take it easy." Alex said. "Ahh, damnit. I left my phone in the car. I'll be back in a minute." As Alex walked out the adult Kara turned to her niece and asked.
"So how is Diz?"
"He says he is fine." The teenager replied.
"That's all he said in the messages?" Kara pressed.
"All I'm going to share."
"Well that's got my interest." The adult Kara said as her sister came back into the kitchen, phone in hand. Seeing her daughter still looking red she asked.
"Are you sure you are okay?"
"I'm fine." The teenager repeated before asking. "Any progress with the investigation?"
"Not yet, but I will find them." Alex said.
"Why don't we walk Chewie?" Kara suggested to her daughter, wanting to give her sister and niece some space.
-00-
"You sure everything is okay?" Kara asked her daughter as they walked Chewie.
"Yes, why?"
"Because you came home rather than hanging out with MJ. Are you still worried about the Red K?"
"No." The teenage Alex said before explaining. "Kara wasn't comfortable walking home alone so I said I had an assignment and walked home with her."
"That was nice of you."
"She would have done it for me." The teen said. "Besides it can be seen as payment for your teasing about Diz."
"I don't tease." Kara protested. "Seeing you don't have an assignment due why don't we do something?"
"Like what?"
"I can fly us anywhere." Kara reminded her.
"I know. But I think we should get back. I think Kara will be getting really stressed."
"With what?"
"The interrogation."
"Good point. Let's go."
-00-
"How are doing?" Alex asked her daughter.
"Fine."
"It's okay not to be." Alex pointed.
"Good to know." The teenage Kara said with more than a hint of sarcasm.
"But talking may help." Alex pressed on. "I know when-"
"Mom." Kara snapped. "I am trying to catch up on all the school work I missed yesterday. That is easier to do without all the questions."
"Sorry." Alex said. "Do you want some help?"
"I want some peace." Kara said packing up her books. "I'm going to finish this upstairs." She said walking off.
"Well that could have gone better." Alex muttered to herself.
