"Hi mom." Alex called as she entered the apartment the next evening.
"Hi." Kara said hugging her. "You're back early."
"No I'm not." The teen said.
"Wow, it is already after five." Kara said looking at her watch.
"Well I guess time flies when you are searching for missing metas." The older Alex said stretching.
"You still looking?" The teenager asked.
"How did you know I was looking?" The older Kara asked.
"You leave files round the apartment." The teen said before asking. "Have you asked Diz about any metas he knows?"
"He said something about being tested by Kai. Metas were sent in one direction and Non-metas in another. I was so focused on Kai and what happened to them I never followed up on the metas." The adult Alex said feeling guilty. "I think it is time for another conversation with Diz."
"Because you think he may know something or you just want to scare him?" The older Kara asked before her daughter jumped in and suggested.
"Or you want to mess with Kara?"
"When did you get so cynical?" The older Alex asked her niece.
"That wasn't a denial." The teen pointed out as her aunt's phone rang.
"Danvers." She answered. "Okay, I'll be right there."
"There is an emergency down town." She said looking at her sister who immediately looked at her daughter.
"Go."
"Are you sure?" Kara asked, feeling guilty for leaving her.
"Go." She repeated hugging her.
"I'll be back as soon as I can." Kara said hugging her before changing and flying off with her sister.

"Ma'am." Agent Torres greeted when Supergirl landed with Alex. "I didn't think you did field work anymore."
"Consider it an evaluation." Alex said. "What have we got?"
"They were excavating for the new subway line when they found a ship. We have secured the area. The team that found it are in quarantine. So far they aren't showing any signs of well anything."
"Any readings from the ship?" Alex asked.
"No ma'am, it seems dead."
"Where is it?" Supergirl asked.
"Over there." The Agent said pointing.
"Do not enter it or touch it." Alex warned her sister.
"I'm just looking." Supergirl said walking towards the ship.
A few moments later she returned and explained. "I can't see into it, there must be some sort of lead lining. But I did recognise the writing on the side. It is written in Heleeth. It is called Foundation."
"Who are the Heleeth?" Alex asked not recognising the name.
"Peaceful planet, famous for their ship building." Supergirl said.
"So the owners could be anyone?" Alex guessed.
"Yes." Kara agreed. "There were no more markings on the outside that gives any more clues."
"I take it there weren't any windows to peer through?" The Agent asked.
"No. The Heleeth were such good ship builders because they prioritised functionality over aesthetics. Windows on a spaceship are a huge structural weakness. Plus on the slower ships some races got really depressed from seeing endless nothing. So the Heleeth made ships have no windows. But the entire shell will be covered in sensors that feed inside the ship. So if there is someone in there they will see everything we are doing." Supergirl explained.
"Good news is no one has opened fire yet." Alex said trying to see the bright side of the situation.
"Weapons could have been damaged in the crash." The Agent pointed out. "So what now?"
"Let's get it shipped to a secure area. After that we will open it up." Alex said she then looked at Supergirl and said. "I want you as an escort."
"Of course." Supergirl nodded.
"Let's move." Alex ordered looking round. "Remember we don't know if the threat will come from inside that ship or from outside, so everyone keep your eyes open."

"Kara!" MJ shouted at his as her sister as she thrashed in her sleep.
As Kara woke she lashed out and punched her perceived attacker sending MJ to the floor.
"Last time I try to wake you." MJ complained from the floor.
"MJ? What the hell?" Kara asked.
"Why are you yelling at me? You were the one who punched me." He said sitting up.
"I did?" Kara asked, her heart still beating fast.
"Yes. You were having a nightmare. I tried to wake you and thump." He said rubbing his jaw.
"Sorry." Kara apologised before looking at her brother. "You should get some ice on that. I'll get you some." She said getting out of bed.
"You okay?" MJ asked standing.
"No." Kara replied leaving her room and jogging downstairs to the freezer.

"All secure." Supergirl said to Alex a few hours later as the ship was moved into secure containment at the desert base.
"Thank you and sorry." Alex replied.
"Sorry for what?" Supergirl asked.
"I know you are trying to spend more time with Alex, and being here for hours doesn't help that."
"It's okay. Besides Alex was okay with it. But it is late so unless you are cracking it open tonight I'm going to head back."
"Of course." Alex said. "We aren't going to open it until all the test results are back in, which will be tomorrow at the earliest. But seeing you carried me out here can you take me home?"
"Of course." Supergirl said picking her up and flying her home.
As the duo flew into Alex's house they saw Alex's two children siting on the couch, MJ holding frozen peas to his jaw.
"What happened?" Alex asked.
"It was my fault." Both teens said.
"What happened?" Alex repeated.
"I punched MJ." The teenage Kara confessed.
"What?" Alex asked as her sister quickly used her x-ray vision on MJ. She then used it on Kara's hands before looking at her sister and saying.
"There are no breaks. I'm going to leave you to it." The adult Kara said to her sister before leaving the house.
"Why did you punch MJ?" Alex asked looking at her daughter.
"I woke her from a nightmare." MJ said.
"Let me see your face." Alex said before examining his jaw. "How long have you been icing it?"
"Twenty minutes."
"Okay. I think it is okay. Go to bed, if it is bad in the morning I'll take you down to hospital." Alex said after a moment.
"Actually we were kind of talking." MJ said. "Can we finish?"
"Um, okay." Alex said confused, but gave her kids space.

"Everything okay?" The adult Kara asked the next morning as she approached her sister.
"I guess." Alex said.
"And all three kids disappearing for school before seven was enthusiasm?" Kara questioned.
"Or avoidance." Alex said.
"So what was with the punch?"
"MJ woke Kara from a nightmare and got hit as a result." Alex explained.
"That's better than Kara just using him as a punchbag." Her sister pointed out.
"I know. But that must have been quite a nightmare."
"Did she talk to you about it?"
"No and I was sent from the room so she and MJ could finish talking."
"At least she is talking to someone." Kara said.
"Yes, but I'm not sure MJ is the best qualified to help." Alex said. "Or maybe I am a little jealous she won't talk to me."
"We talked to each other more then we talked to Eliza." Kara reminded her.
"I guess." Alex sighed. "But I don't remember sneaking off to school at the crack of dawn so I could avoid talking to mom."
"You don't?" Kara asked surprised. "What about when you dinged the car? You made me leave for school before six the next day just to avoid Eliza."
"Yeah, but I was trying to avoid punishment. Kara hasn't done anything wrong, she is just avoiding me." Alex countered.
'Have you told her she isn't in trouble?" Kara asked.
"I haven't had the chance." Alex pointed out.
"The important thing is she is talking." Kara said. "She'll come to you when she's ready."
"And if she doesn't?"
"You can always throw her in an interrogation room."
"True." Alex said.
"I was joking." Kara said concerned her sister was taking the suggestion seriously.
"Sure." Alex replied.
"How are you doing with the ship?" Kara asked.
"So far it hasn't set off any alarms." Alex said. "But still no closer to figuring it out."
"What about when it would have got here?"
"Hard to tell, but best guess is over one hundred years ago."
"Probably just as well it crash landed." Kara said. "Aliens would have freaked America out one hundred years ago."
"Yes they would. But we don't know if they got out or are trapped in there." Alex said. "But if it really has been buried for one hundred years, there is no rush to get in there. So we are going to go very slowly."
"So you don't need me today?" Kara asked.
"No. So you could actually attend a staff meeting on time."
"Thanks. I'll see you later." She said flying off to CatCo.
