"Acid." Alex said as Supergirl walked into the command room.

"What?" Supergirl asked lost.

"Acid. If you want to get rid of bodies you can use acid." Alex said.

"Have the kids been upsetting you?" Supergirl asked.

"I'm talking about the missing Metas." Alex said. "Stagg owns several disused factories that used acid, and based on power consumption I don't think they are as disused as they are meant to be."

"So they are dissolving the bodies?" Supergirl asked pulling a face.

"I don't know, but it is a possibility." Alex said. "But before we fly in there without thinking let's take a step back. If Stagg is involved he has done a very good job covering his tracks. This is a connection that is hard to ignore. Would he make such a mistake?"

"If we are right he already has with the insurance link." Kara said. "We need to look."

"Only would we find anything there?" Alex asked. "I mean all evidence may have been destroyed."

"But if he is using it for disposal then that means the metas must be close by." Supergirl argued.

"Rose, Harris, I want you to monitor those factories and look for deliveries. Then work back and figure out where any deliveries come from." Alex ordered.

"Yes Ma'am."

"How does this play into the Kryptonite though?" Kara asked.

"I don't know. That's why I don't want any of us rushing anywhere until we figure it out. Even if this what we think it is, we are missing the bigger picture. We have to be careful. So for now we watch."

"Hi Martin." Kara said when she saw her daughter's friend sitting at the kitchen table.

"Hi." He said.

"You by yourself?" Kara asked not seeing her daughter.

"No. Alex is in her room getting a book. Steve is working late so Alex said I could come here." He explained, before frowning and asking. "Is that okay?"

"Of course." Kara smiled just as Kara's daughter emerged.

"Hi Mom." She greeted.

"Hi. How was school?"

"Another day, another test."

"Where are MJ and Kara?"

"Kara had a lesson with Wildcat and MJ had practice. So it is just us." The teenage Alex said.

"That doesn't look like homework." Kara said looking at the book. "Or is this the follow up to the murder project?"

"No. I don't think there will be a follow up." Alex said sounding disappointed. "And this isn't homework. We have already finished."

"In that case do you want to play Settlers of Catan?" Kara asked.

"What's that?" Martin asked.

"Wow, you have had such a deprived life." Kara said. "Tonight I will educate you."

-00-

"Hi." Kara greeted when she opened the front door a couple of hours later.

"Hi. Thank you for letting him hang out here." Steve replied.

"He's welcome anytime." Kara said letting Steve into the apartment.

"What's that?" He asked noticing the game on the table.

"Settlers of Catan" Kara replied.

"Which is?" Steve asked.

"Seriously, how can you never have played that?"

"I don't know a mis spent youth filled with hours of endless studying?" He suggested.

"I feel a little judged." Kara countered.

"I'm sorry." Steve smiled before looking at Martin. "You ready?"

"Can't we finish the game?" He asked.

"Sorry. I'm doing a double tomorrow so I need to get some rest." Steve replied.

"Fine." Martin said as he stood. "Thanks for the game." He said to Kara.

"Anytime." She smiled before watching the pair leave. Once the door had shut she started to clean up the takeout boxes only to stop when her daughter asked.

"Can we talk?"

"Sure, what's wrong?" Kara asked sitting on the couch.

"Last night MJ was being annoying and throwing stuff at me-" Alex asked only for Kara to cut in.

"Why?"

"To 'help' develop my powers. But the thing is one of the things he threw at me kind of bounced off me, but before it got to me." The teenager said. "I think it is a new power."

"Why didn't you say anything last night?" Kara asked.

"Both you and Alex seemed stressed. I didn't want to add to it."

"You aren't adding to my stress. Besides why would I be stressed by a new power? Are you stressed by it?"

"No." The teen said. "But you always get weird when I get a new power."

"No I don't. I just worry about you. I know how hard it can be to control them."

"You worry too much." The teen countered.

"It's kinda my job." Kara said.

"You don't need to. I'm fine. I'd tell you if I wasn't."

"Okay." Kara said. "Do you want to try and practice it?"

"Yes, but no. I'm already tired. Can we watch a movie instead?"

"Sure."

As the adult Alex fought the demons of her nightmares she was woken by her phone ringing.

Reaching over she grabbed her phone and tried to focus on the display. Finally reading the name she answered.

"Lois? Are you okay?"

"Alex thank god. I'm sorry, I didn't know who to call. After what happened last time I didn't want to call Kara, but I need help."

"What? You aren't making sense." Alex said looking at her clock and seeing it was three am. "What's going on?" She asked sitting up.

"It's Clark. He woke up twenty minutes ago with no memory. He's really freaked out and he can't control his powers."

"Okay, I'll get J'onn to meet you. Just try to keep him calm." Alex said hanging up.

-00-

"You look terrible. Did you go to bed last night?" Kara asked later that morning.

"Thanks." Alex said dryly as she drunk her coffee.

"She went out." The teenage Kara said as she entered the kitchen. "She only got back twenty minutes ago."

"Where'd you go?" The adult Kara asked as MJ entered the kitchen and grabbed some toast off his mother's plate.

"MJ!" Alex chastised.

"What? I'll be late." He said eating. "See you later." He added before leaving the kitchen.

"Bye." The teenage Kara said hugging her mother before she and her cousin followed MJ.

"So where were you?" The adult Kara asked once the kids had departed.

"You better sit down." Alex said.

"What's going on? Is Eliza okay?" She asked.

"She's fine." Alex said.

"Then what's going on?"

"Lois called."

"Kal?" Kara guessed.

"Is okay. But Lois called because Clark started acting strangely again." Alex said.

"Strangely how?"

"He lost his memory." Alex said. "J'onn took him to Lena's lab where he is in containment."

"Why not call me?" Kara asked annoyed.

"Just in case it was contagious. If it is a form of Kryptonite you could be at risk too."

"Can I see him?"

"As long as you stay on the right side of the containment field." Alex said. "Just let me finish this, then we'll go to Lena's lab."

-00-

"Lois." Kara said as she hugged her

"Kara." Lois replied.

"How is he?"

"Still confused."

"What happened?" Kara asked.

"He woke up really early this morning and had no idea who I was. And he had completely forgotten he had powers, which cost us a wall."

"Are you okay?" Kara asked.

"I'm fine." Lois said. "Just worried about Clark."

"Have you told the boys yet?"

"No. They'll come straight here and I don't know if they are at risk." Lois said as Lena approached.

"Have you found something?" Kara asked.

"His blood chemistry is off." Lena said passing the tablet to Alex and asking. "Do some of these markers look familiar?"

"Aren't some of those the markers associated with Gold Kryptonite?" Alex asked frowning.

"Looks like it and those ones are Red K." Lena said.

"Wait what is gold Kryptonite?" Kara asked.

"It is a radiated version of Kryptonite that removes your ability to process sunlight, effectively removing your powers." Alex said.

"Permanently?"

"Seeing Superman still has his powers no." Alex said, not giving any more details about when or how her cousin had been previously exposed.

"So someone has merged gold and red Kryptonite and now Kal has no memories?" Kara asked.

"It looks that way. I think you are right someone is experimenting and testing Superman's abilities." Alex said.

"But who and why?"

"I don't know. But we tracked down Max, I think we should consider going to talk to him." Alex said.

"What about Kal?" Kara asked.

"It's possible the effects will pass. In the mean time we can try to synthesise an antidote." Lena said.

"But before all of that, is it safe for Kara to see him?" Lois asked.

"Yes. The barrier will protect her." Lena said.

"Then can you talk to him. Maybe seeing someone else with powers will help him calm down."

"Of course." Kara smiled.

-00-

"Who's there?" Clark asked from where he sat in the corner, his eyes shut and his hands over his ears.

"I'm Kara. I'm your cousin."

"Cousin? So you have powers?"

"Yes."

"How do I stop them?" He asked.

"The key is staying calm." Kara said.

"How can you, when you hear everything?"

"We can probably screen the room you are in to stop as many noises getting through." Kara said. "But, and I know it is hard, you need to relax. We are doing everything we can." Kara said. "Can you hear my heart?"

"I can hear everything." He said.

"Okay. Well focus on my heart. Listen to it and only it."

"Okay." He said after a minute. "That's working."

"Good." Kara said. "Now, while still focusing on my heart, try opening your eyes."

"But-"

"Trust me." Kara said causing him to open his eyes. When beams didn't shoot out he looked at Kara and asked. "How?"

"Practice."

"I don't understand." He said. "When I woke up this morning I didn't have this and now I can't stop it."

"This morning you didn't know you had heat vision. Now you do it is hard to not think about it." Kara said.

"Who am I?" He asked.

"Your name is Clark, but I call you Kal."

"Why?"

"You and I are from a different planet, on that planet you were called Kal. Clark is your Earth name."
