As Kara read the reports her hearing picked up on her daughter's heart rate increasing moments before she heard whimpering. Hurrying to her room she saw the teenager thrashing in her sleep crying.
"Alex wake up." Kara said sitting on the bed as Chewie jumped off. She then placed her hands on her daughter's shoulders and gently shook her until she woke up. When she did wake the teen sat up so fast Kara nearly fell off the bed.
"Mom?" The teen asked confused, tears streaming down her face.
"It's okay, it was a dream. You are safe now." She said hugging her daughter.
"Did you see it?" The teen asked.
"The inhibitors worked." Kara said. "But they won't stop the nightmares."
"But you no longer see them."
"No." Kara confirmed, causing her daughter to relax. "So what was the dream about?" Kara asked a few minutes later.
"I was in the lab." The teen said after a minute. "Lots of men were surrounding me. Then I see, not what happened, but what I was afraid would happen … It's stupid, I'm scared of things that didn't happen."
"No it's not stupid." Kara said holding her daughter tightly.
"Yes it is, it's just my imagination."
"When I was a prisoner they did things to me that caused me pain and I was scared. But no matter what happened to me nothing could ever compare to the fear I felt when you were taken." Kara said.

"You look terrible." The adult Alex said to her sister the next morning.
"Didn't get much sleep." Her sister said sitting on the couch next to her.
"Nightmares?" Alex guessed.
"Yes, Alex was up with them most of the night."
"I guessed. Alex didn't look great this morning."
"Did she say anything to you?"
"No. She had reverted to the teenage grunt state. I take it she hadn't talked to you?"
"Not really. She said she saw things she feared may happen, but didn't go into details. But she also didn't sleep afterwards."
"And that means you didn't sleep afterwards."
"No."
"Then you need to spend today resting."
"Easier said than done." Kara said.
"I know. But the DEO are still trying to figure out potential Lobo targets so there isn't anything you can do. So you can rest."
"Actually I need to do my actual job. I am way behind at CatCo."
"Fine. But no Supergirling today."
"When did I become a verb?"
"You know what I mean." Alex said.
"I'll be careful." Kara said. "I'll see you later."
-00-
"Where is she?" Lobo asked as he crashed through the roof of the DEO.
"Who?" Vasquez asked peering out form behind a workstation as dust filled the room.
"My one day bride."
"Who?"
"Supes." He said taking out a cigar. Seeing movement to one side he quickly drew his gun and said. "Try me."
Reluctantly the Agent backed down moments before Supergirl came through the Lobo size hole in the ceiling.
"There's my girl!" He grinned as she landed in front of him, making sure her body was blocking as many Agents as possible from Lobo.
"What do you want?" Supergirl asked.
"Time to make good on your promise." Blowing out smoke.
"What do you want?" Supergirl repeated as the cigar smoke and dust tripped the smoke detector and the sprinkler system activated.
For a moment Lobo didn't say anything, instead he stared at Supergirl waiting for her to explain.
"It's a no smoking building." She shouted over the alarm. "What exactly do you want?"
"Can't talk here." He said grabbing hold of Supergirl before they disappeared in a blur.
-00-
"Are you okay?" The DEO director asked when Supergirl flew back into the dusty and wet DEO a few hours later.
"Alex? What are you doing here?" Supergirl asked.
"You were kidnapped by Lobo." Alex reminded her. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. But we need to talk."
"That doesn't sound good." Alex said as she slowly limped to the briefing room. As soon as they were inside the room Alex asked. "Are you hurt?"
"No."
"Are you sure? We can do this in the lamp room, fortunately that is still in tact."
"I'm fine. All we did was talk."
"About what?" Alex asked.
"You know how aliens have been going missing?"
"Yes."
"One of those was an Atrillian. An Atrillain with a very powerful family who hired Lobo to kill those responsible. He has been going round trying to find the person responsible, killing everyone who gets in his way. But he still can't get to the person he is after. So he wants my help." Supergirl said. "If I help him my debt will be repaid."
"That's sounds good to me. Yet you are frowning. So what's the issue?"
"If I help him I will be condoning those responsible to death."
"After what they did to you I don't have a problem with that." Alex said.
"Well I do."
"Look at it this way. If we don't help he'll keep killing at random until he finds the person he is after." Alex pointed out. "You'd actually be saving lives." She added. "My bigger concern is can we trust him?"
"Lobo is known for keeping his word." Supergirl said.
"Doesn't mean we can trust him." Alex warned. "But maybe we can use this to our advantage. Stagg and Tycho must know Lobo is around. I'll let Kendell know what Lobo is after he can then leak it upwards. To save their own skins they are likely to sell out the other one."
"That doesn't get round what we will be helping Lobo to do." Kara said.
"You always find another way." Alex said. "There is no reason why this should be different."
-00-
"Director." Kendell said when he was shown into her office. "I was surprised to get your call. I mean I thought I was outside your circle of trust."
"I have had other priorities recently." Alex said.
"I heard. How is your recovery?"
"Too slow for my liking."
"I didn't think you'd be back at work for awhile."
"Well, there is a new problem and we are already stretched."
"What kind of new problem?"
"Have you heard any rumours about mass slaughters at research labs?" Alex asked, carefully watching the FBI man.
"When I first heard it I thought it was an urban legend. But when the second lab was hit I became a believer. Do you know who did it?"
"Yes. And it is not good news. I know the FBI feel excluded and that you have been working the investigation in the background, I mean I would to. But for your safety, your team's safety you need to stop and back away."
"Why?"
"The person responsible is an alien called Lobo. He is a bounty hunter and he is more than capable of taking on Superman and Supergirl. Your team wouldn't stand a chance. My team doesn't stand a chance. The damage to this building was caused by him."
"You said bounty hunter? Who is he after?"
"Some one has been kidnapping Metas and aliens. One of those aliens was a very important alien. His family want revenge. Lobo has been hired to kill the person responsible."
"So the deaths so far have been what?"
"Lobo seeking answers. He will stop at nothing to fulfil a contract."
"So what are you going to do?"
"One option is to work with Lobo. If we help him figure out who was responsible then we can save lives. Alternatively we figure out who he is after and try to protect them. Of course if it is the same person responsible for taking Supergirl there will be a certain irony as their best chance for protection is weaker due to what they did to her." Alex explained, dangling the lie in front of the FBI agent.
"She is?" Kendell asked.
"Yes. Between us, we are in big trouble. Especially as Superman is not faring much better at the moment. Which is why working with him seems safer." She paused, happy she had sown the seeds before going on. "Regardless, we need to figure out who Lobo will go after. Any ideas? Previously you mentioned Roulette's successor's successor."
"I thought you ruled that out."
"Right now I am not ruling anything out." Alex said.
"Okay, well if I find anything out I will let you know." Kendell said.
"Thank you." Alex said. "And Kendell watch your back."
Once Kendell had gone Supergirl entered the office and said.
"I'm not weaker."
"But he doesn't need to know that." Alex said.
-00-
"Mom!" Alex said greeting her mother with a hug that evening.
"What's wrong?" Kara asked.
"I saw you on the news with Lobo. Well that you had been taken by Lobo."
"Oh that. That's fine. We just talked."
"Is he making you do something?"
"Not exactly, but we are going to be working together for a few days."
"Why?"
"Because we are both after the same person." Kara said, but seeing her daughter frown she added. "Just try to relax. Your aunt will be looking out for me."
"I don't want you to get hurt." The teen said, clearly not trusting Lobo.
"I don't want to get hurt either." Kara said. "I'll be okay. But I'm going to need to concentrate on Lobo, so I need you to do everything that Eliza asks. Okay?"
"Okay." The teen agreed.
