"You going to school?" Alex asked as her daughter came down for breakfast.

"I have a choice?"

"Yes." Alex said.

"My leg is fine. All in my head." The teen said.

"No one has said that." Alex said. "And you look like you didn't sleep much."

"Great so I am crazy and look terrible. This is going to be a fun day." She said said picking up her bag.

"Where are you going?"

"School."

"What about breakfast?"

"Not hungry." The teen said leaving the house only to walk into her cousin and aunt.

"Morning." The older Kara said. "Everything okay?"

"Sure. I'll see you later." The teen said walking off.

"Why don't you meet up with MJ?" The adult Kara said to her daughter. "I'll see you tonight." She added kissing her goodbye and chasing after her niece.

"Kara, wait up." She called.

"I'm fine." The teen said as she continued to walk.

"Good." The older Kara said falling in step along side her.

"I don't want to talk."

"Okay."

"Are you going to follow me to school?"

"I was thinking of it as walking with you to school. Following you is what your DEO guard is for."

"I'm okay."

"I can tell." The older Kara said. "What I don't get is you seemed fine when I picked you up from Diz's place. So what happened since then?"

"Nothing."

"Has your leg flared up?"

"No. It's fine, probably as it was all in my head anyway."

"No one thinks that."

"They should. I mean mom and Lena can't find any reason for it."

"Doesn't mean there isn't one." The older Kara said. "I know it is hard, but you need to not worry about it. Trust me your mom is doing more than enough for both of you."

"What if it happens again?" The teen asked coming to a stop and looking at her aunt.

"Then I will come and get you." The older Kara said. She then added. "Stay there a moment." She then disappeared in a blur before returning a moment later with a brown bag. "Seeing you skipped breakfast I thought you might need food. And before you say you aren't hungry, you can always have it for lunch."

"Thanks." The teen said.

"She made it to school safely." Kara said to her sister as she entered the house.

"Thanks. Did she say what was bothering her?"

"Not really. She's pretty stressed it will happen again."

"I wish I could promise her it wouldn't." Alex sighed.

"Still no ideas what caused it?"

"No. Lena went through the nanites but there is no indication they did something they shouldn't. The timing doesn't make sense, her bone is stable and back to full strength almost. There shouldn't be pain. But there was nothing in the tox results to suggest a chemical cause. And no signs of trauma. Plus her DEO escort said nothing happened while we were away. I'm at a loss."

"You'll figure it out. I mean you are almost a genius."

"Almost? Some pep talk." Alex said.

"You almost failed calculus." Kara reminded her.

"That's low." Alex said grabbing her bag. "I'm going to Lena's lab to see if I can find anything. Vasquez said she'll call you if any of our metas turn up. I'll be back at the DEO after lunch."

"Okay, I'll pick you up from the lab."

"I am capable of making my own way to the DEO."

"I know. But eating seems to have been a step too far for you recently."

-00-

"Have you found anything?" Alex asked entering the DEO the later that day with Supergirl.

"No. And that doesn't make any sense. I mean Kryptonite is traceable. And yet we can find nothing. We even expanded our search and still nothing."

"Expanded where?"

"Used every overhead at our disposal and have scanned most of the globe."

"If it was being stored in lead we wouldn't see it." Alex pointed out.

"So we have started to look, as in physically look, in lead mines and nuclear power plants. Still nothing. And no traces of those other spiders and according to our resident expert it is about time they breed."

"Has he come up with a way to contain them quickly and safely?" Alex asked.

"Not yet."

"Anything from Tycho?"

"Still refusing in person meetings, still attending virtual ones. Still blaming Stagg for everything. Meanwhile Stagg is denying everything and blaming Tycho from inside a prison cell. And before you ask his guards have been properly vetted."

"And the Metas?"

"Nothing solid, but there have been rumours."

"What kind of rumours?" Supergirl asked.

"The kind Kara Danvers might have more luck chasing down." Vasquez said.

"Email me the leads."

"Already on their way."

"I'll start chasing them down." Supergirl said as Vasquez left the office. Noticing her sister standing she asked. "Where are you going?"

"To check on the test results at Lena's lab, then home."

"Home?" Supergirl questioned.

"I want to be there for Kara." Alex said. "Seeing Alex has Chess practice, I was going to take the kids out for dinner." Noticing the look on her sister's face she asked. "What?"

"Sorry, I just thought you had forgotten what dinner was."

"Cute." Alex said rolling her eyes.

"I'll see you tomorrow." Her sister said before leaving.

-00-

"How was school?" Alex asked when her kids came home.

"Mom? What are you doing here?" MJ asked.

"I live here." Alex reminded him.

"Yeah, but recently you have been working late every night." MJ said.

"And I am sorry about that. But I am here tonight. So why don't we go out for dinner?" She then looked at her daughter and added. "You can invite Diz."

"Can I invite someone?" MJ asked.

"No."

"This sucks." MJ complained heading upstairs.

"Go on." Alex sighed looking at her daughter.

"Go on what?"

"I've already upset MJ, you may as well get it out of system too."

"Get what out?" The teen asked confused.

"How I'm ruining your life."

"Bad day?" The teen asked. "Is this about this morning? I'm sorry I stormed off."

"Are you okay?" Alex asked her.

"My leg is fine."

"That's not what I meant."

"I'm okay." The teen said before asking. "Have you found out what's wrong with me?"

"No. Not yet. The tests are all looking okay." Alex said. "But we are going to keep looking. We'll figure it out."

"Do you have time?"

"What do you mean?" Alex asked confused.

"You are maxed out at work."

"Work is busy, but you are more important." Alex reminded her.

-00-

"Hi Steve." Kara said as she approached him at the school gate.

"Hey." He said jumping as he turned round.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. But why are you waiting here? I mean the door is fifty feet that way." Kara pointed out.

"I didn't want to crowd Martin. And, McLean is by the door."

"Who and how do you know?"

"McLean, head of the PTA and she is always lingering at the first club meets of year. Looking for victims."

"Victims?"

"She calls them volunteers but they are victims."

"Victims of what?" Kara asked.

"The PTA. And McLean has very traditional values. I as the lone guardian, and male at that, don't meet her ideal parent stereotype so escaped. But no one escapes twice."

"She sounds formidable." Kara said before turning as she heard steps approaching. "But she can't-" She started saying only to see Steve was gone.

"You are Kara Danvers. You are Alex Danvers' sister?" A well presented woman greeted with an air of disapproval. Something about her reminding Kara of Lilian Luthor.

"Yes."

"I see. Well I am late."

"For what?" Kara asked.

"PTA business. Good evening." McLean said walking off leaving Kara confused. Moments later she heard rustling and turned to see Steve slide out form behind a bush.

"Sorry, but I didn't want to get caught." He said. "But go you escaping her clutches."

"Should I feel insulted by the fact she didn't ask?" Kara asked.

"Probably, but for now just consider yourself lucky."

"Why are you guys waiting over here?" The teenage Alex asked as she approached the pair with Martin.

"Avoiding the PTA." Martin explained for Steve before noticing the mud on his shoes. "Did you hide in the bushes again?"

"I prefer the term strategic placement." Steve said. "It sounds a little less cowardly."

"Not really." Martin said.

"Seeing I owe you dinner and I managed to get tonight off, would you like to grab a pizza or burger?" Steve asked Kara.

"Sure."
