Opening her eyes Kara saw a blurry haze before seeing a shadowy figure move to her left.
"Welcome back." J'onn said moving closer.
"Alex?" Kara asked trying to focus.
"They are both fine." J'onn said not sure which one she was talking about. Seeing Kara trying to sit up he reached out to stop her. "Easy. You need to stay under the lamps."
"I'm okay." Kara said continuing to sit up before remembering what had happened and looked at her arm, which was now covered in bandages, while her uniform displayed burn murks at the shoulder.
"What happened?" J'onn asked.
"I found the cure?" She said although it was more of a question. "Are you sure it worked?"
"Yes, Alex is recovering. Her fever has gone, her organs are functioning and she is awake."
"Already?"
"You have been out of it for hours." J'onn said.
"Really?" Kara said standing, swaying slightly as she did so.
"Careful." J'onn said frowning.
"I'm okay." Kara said, looking anything but. "Where's Alex? My Alex?"
"At home."
"Alone?" Kara asked frowning.
"No. Ruby is with her."
"Good. I'm going to see Alex then go home." She said.
"Kara, your arm hasn't healed. You have trace amounts of Kryptonite in your blood. You need to stay here under the lamps."
"I'm okay."
"No you're not." J'onn said gently. "Until the Kryptonite is gone you can't see Alex. Your one."
"Okay." Kara said.
"It won't be long. It should be gone within an hour. After that hopefully your arm will fully heal." He said as he guided her back to the lamp bed. "Want to talk about what happened?"
"Not really." Kara said. "But a team should probably go to that facility."
"Already have." J'onn said.
"How?"
"When you disappeared we tried to find you. As soon as you started to fly back they got you on radar."
"Did you-"
"Find the Kryptonite compound? Yes. It is being tested."
"He said it would permanently wipe my mind." Kara said.
"But you weren't given it?" J'onn questioned, frowning.
"No." Kara said looking at her bandaged arm again.
"Are you sure you are okay?" J'onn asked.
"I think so." Kara said.
"Does it hurt?" He asked pointing to the arm.
"A little." Kara said before adding. "A lot."
"The doctor said it was healing, even with the Kryptonite. So hopefully it will be pain free soon." J'onn said as a DEO doctor came in.
"You are awake. That's a good sign." He said before running various scans.
"Well?"
"Still small traces of Kryptonite." He then pointed to the arm and asked. "May I?"
"Sure." Kara said holding it out. He then gently unwrapped it revealing the blistered and burnt skin.
"That's looking much better." He said. "But let's hold it under the lamps." He added. "I'll be back soon."
-00-
"You are meant to stay under the lamps." J'onn pointed out as Kara started to fidget thirty minutes later.
"They are uncomfortable." Kara said. "Plus my arm is fine." She said waving it at him showing the blistering was gone.
"You still need to rest." J'onn said as the doctor returned.
"I concur." The DEO doctor said as he started to run some scans. "While there are no more traces of Kryptonite, Kryptonian physiology isn't my speciality the damaged you suffered was extreme. I can't be sure if there is still damage under the skin."
"I'm fine." Supergirl said. "I need to see to Alex." She added standing and walking towards the door. J'onn following closely ready to catch her if she fell.
"Are you stupid?" Alex asked as her sister entered her room in the infirmary.
"Hello to you to." Kara replied.
"I mean it." Alex went on looking at her sister as her two children looked on.
"What?" Kara asked confused.
"It was a trap and you just flew into it."
"I did what needed to be done." Kara said. "How are you feeling?"
"Better, thanks."
"Really? You don't really look it."
"Thanks." Alex said dryly as Kara turned to her niece and nephew.
"How are you guys doing?" She asked only to find herself being hugged by both teens.
"Thank you." The teenage Kara said into hug.
"Of course." The older Kara said looking round the teens to Eliza who watched with concern.
"I'm fine." She mouthed to her before releasing the teens.
"I need to get home and see Alex. I'll see you later." The adult Kara said turning to the door.
"Kara." Alex called.
"Yeah."
"Thanks."
"Of course." Kara smiled as Lena entered the room.
"Kara? You're up. Should you be up?"
"I'm fine."
"I don't believe you, but good." Lena said. "And I have good news."
"What?"
"We've got him."
"Who?" Alex asked from her bed.
"Tycho." Lena said.
"He's real?" Kara asked.
"No. We've found his programme and isolated it."
"How?" Alex asked before Kara could.
"Technically it was thanks to Kara."
"It was?" The Kryptonian asked confused.
"Yes." Lena confirmed making Kara wonder if she had suffered a brain injury as she had no recollection of stopping Tycho. "When Alex got sick I guessed you would do something stupid so upgraded the Supersuit with some nanites. "
"Why didn't you tell me?" Supergirl asked.
"For it to work there could be no suspicion that anything was wrong. I decided if you knew you might act differently." Lena said.
"What did these nanites do?" Alex asked.
"While Supergirl was busy they sniffed out the network. Then they infected the link and tunnelled back to where it came form."
"Wait nanites are physical objects. Information travels at the speed of light, nanites don't." Alex said.
"True but the virus they carried does. And that virus made it to the main system where it cemented their position. Then it took control."
"Of what?"
"Tycho's systems. We are in." Lena said.
"How?"
"There's a lot of technical details in that-" Lena started only for Kara to cut in.
"When you say in, what do you mean?" Alex asked.
"There is now a backdoor that I used to take control. I located the Tycho programme and contained it."
"But how-" Alex started only for Lena to cut in.
"Alex, a lot, if not all of what I did would be deemed illegal. It is best if you don't ask anymore questions. The important thing is not only is Tycho contained, we control all his systems. Well its systems."
"So Tycho is no longer a threat?" The adult Kara asked.
"For now. It is possible there are backups which could come on line. But now I am in I will figure that out."
"Thank you." Kara said hugging her.
"Of course. And I have some other good news."
"What's that?"
"Tycho had no idea who you were until Duggin told him. That means it can't be Lex behind it."
"I don't know, better the devil you know." Kara said.
"She has a point." Alex said.
"If Tycho is over does that mean we're all safe now?" MJ asked.
"No." His mother said. "There are still a lot of drugs that give people powers, that may not have been controlled by Tycho."
"But I should figure that out soon." Lena said.
-00-
"Mom." Alex said hugging her tightly as soon as she entered the apartment.
"What's wrong?" Kara asked surprised with how strong the hug was.
"I thought you'd been taken again."
"I'm okay." Kara said. "I'm sorry I scared you."
"I was being stupid." Her daughter said still hugging her.
"No you weren't. But I promise you I am okay." Kara said.
"What about Alex?" The teenager asked.
"She's getting better." The adult Kara said as Ruby smiled at her and silently left the apartment. Concerned her daughter was still clinging to her Kara again said. "Hey, I'm okay."
"You promise?"
"I promise." Kara said causing Alex to finally release her hold. As she did her mother asked. "How's Chewie?"
"Still sad." The teen said. "The drugs they gave him makes him sleep all the time. And he doesn't like his cast."
"I don't blame him." Kara said crouching down in front of his basket before patting his head and saying. "It won't be for long. But until then you need lots of rest."
In response Chewie yawned and shut his eyes before going back to sleep.
"Why don't we go out?" Kara said to her daughter. "Isn't there that light show tonight?"
"Yes."
"Then let's go have fun."
"But Tycho-"
"Is contained. Besides, where ever we go we'll have our own personal army with us." Kara said.
"What about Alex?"
"She is going to be in the infirmary for a couple of days and Kara and MJ are staying with her."
"You don't want to be there too?"
"Alex is fine. Right now I want to make sure you are okay. So let's go out."
"What if they come after you?"
"The DEO will be watching us and Frax and track you." Kara pressed.
-00-
"You okay?" Kara asked as she stood next to her daughter watching the show.
"Just a little cold." The teen said causing Kara to stand behind her and hug her.
"This reminds me a little of Reefka." Kara said as they watched the lights.
"The music isn't as good here."
"Wash your mouth out. This music is from Star Wars." Kara pointed out as her daughter's phone buzzed.
"Who's that?" Kara asked looking over the shoulder.
"Eliza. Why does she think you are meant to be resting?"
"She worries too much." Kara shrugged as the show came to an end.
"How about a doughnut?" The teen asked.
"You want a doughnut?" Kara asked suspiciously.
"No. But I was guessing you did."
"Have I told you recently you are my favourite daughter." Kara grinned.
"I'm your only daughter." Alex countered.
"You'd be my even more favourite daughter if we got ice cream as well." Kara went on as they walked towards a food truck.
"Like I could stop you." The teen snorted as Kara placed the ordered.
"Here you go." Kara said eventually passing her daughter a tub of ice cream as she held a bag of doughnuts and a tub for herself.
"You do remember there are only two of us?" The teen asked.
"You think I should have got more?" Kara questioned causing her daughter to roll her eyes before they walked to a bench and started eating.
"Are you okay?" The teen asked after a few minutes.
"Of course." Kara said.
"Really? Because you are acting kind of weird."
"Weird how?"
"The super happy thing you do when you are super stressed."
"I just wanted you to have a normal evening and not be worried by anything." Kara said.
"So you're not okay?" The teen pressed.
"I'm okay." Kara said looking at her daughter. "But I am worried about you. Do you want to talk about what happened?" Kara asked.
"No. Not yet."
"Okay. But we will talk about it." Kara said. "In the mean time I need you to know that you going to get help saved me. I'm here because of you."
"I didn't think I'd see you again." The teen said causing Kara to pull her in for a hug.
"We're both safe now." Kara said, while wondering if the Tycho threat was really over.
"I love you mom."
"I love you too." Kara said looking down at the arm that had been submerged in molten Kryptonite.
