Kara woke up to whimpering from the floor. Looking round she saw Alex lying on the ground on what looked like a nest of blankets, while Chewie slept in his basket that had ended up in the corner of the room.

"Alex, wake up." Kara said moving to the floor.

As Alex opened her eyes she saw her mother and started talking in an alien language.

"I'm okay, so are you." Kara said in English as she soothed her daughter before carrying her daughter to bed in a split second, leaving a confused dog on the floor.

When Alex had finally calmed down Kara asked. "Why were you on the floor?"

"I didn't want to wake you."

"Still doesn't explain you being on the floor."

"I was worried about you."

"I'm okay." Kara said pulling her in for another hug. "We are safe now."

"For how long?" The teen asked.

"What do mean?" Kara asked pulling back.

"Tycho may not be dealt with, even if he was there seems to always be someone who wants to hurt you." The teen pointed out. "So how long are you really safe for?"

"I can't answer that." Kara said. "No matter where we are there will always be danger. But we will always look after each other."

"I don't want you to get hurt any more." The teen said.

"I don't want to get hurt anymore either." Kara said. "But here is the important thing. We can't live in fear. There is nothing wring with being scared, but our hope has to outweigh our fears."

"What if it doesn't?"

"When that happens to me I think about all the things that matter to me and all the people I love and what I hope for them and I draw strength from that. From you."

"What if I can't do that?" Alex asked.

"Why wouldn't you be able to do it?" Kara asked. "You are strong and smart. You can do anything you put your mind to. Just remember you are never alone."

"Hi Sweetie." Eliza said entering the infirmary, holding a tray. "How are you feeling?"

"Okay." Alex said sitting up, wincing as her shoulder moved.

"Can I get you anything else?" She asked putting the tray down in front of her daughter.

"No, but can you take those two home?" Alex asked pointing at her kids with her good arm.

"Sure." Eliza agreed.

"You can't make us go." MJ said.

"Yes I can. On so many levels." His mother pointed out.

"But-" Both teens started.

"Guys, I'm fine."

"You said that when you got home and you weren't." Her daughter said.

"Well this time there is a doctor that agrees with me." Alex said. "But if you insist on staying I will discharge myself. So if you want me to stay, go. In fact shouldn't you be at school?"

"It's Saturday." MJ said.

"No it's not."

"Yes, it is." The teenage Kara said. "You've been here for days."

"Morning." The older Kara said entering the room.

"Why aren't you under the lamps?" Alex greeted.

"I'm fine."

"Pretty sure you aren't. I saw you in that cell. And that's ignoring the whole weird molten Kryptonite thing you did." Alex said.

"I'm fine." Kara said wondering where her sister had got the intel, before looking at the two teens and saying. "Alex and I are going on a day trip. Do you two want to come?"

"You go or I go." Alex said to her kids.

As the DEO Agent drove the two Karas and MJ back to the house the teenage Kara asked her aunt.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, why wouldn't I be?" The older Kara asked turning to face them.

"We saw your arm." MJ said.

"It's fine." Kara said waving it. "And I'd appreciate you not mentioning it to Alex."

"You want us to lie?" MJ asked.

"No. I just don't want her more stressed than she already is."

"Sound like lying." MJ said.

"No, if Alex asks don't lie, but if she doesn't just try not to make her stressed."

"You know she is going to ask?" The teenage Kara said.

"I know, just try to help her not stress out." The older Kara sighed before asking. "How are you two doing?"

In response she heard two non committal grunts causing her to say.

"Your mom will be okay."

"This time." MJ said quietly.

"Your mom is tough and too stubborn to get beaten." The older Kara pointed out as the car pulled into the driveway.

As they got out of the car the older Kara said.

"Okay, can you guys hang out with Alex for a couple of hours, I just need to do something."

"Cryptic much?" MJ asked.

"While you are hanging why don't you think about what you want to do today?" Kara suggested.

"Is that a bribe?" MJ asked.

"That's an offer." Kara countered. "I'll see you soon."

"Kara? How are you feeling?" Frax asked as she walked down the corridor of his ship.

"I'm okay." Kara said. "Thank you for finding us."

"Of course. I'm sorry I could not help more."

"You did plenty." Kara replied.

"Is Alex okay?"

"Shaken, but okay. I'm sure she is looking forward to your next session."

"I'm glad. And I am happy to spend as much time with her as you, as she wants."

"I sense a but?"

"I know this isn't the best time, but-"

"You're leaving?" Kara guessed.

"No, not yet." He said. "But I received a message from my parents. They want to meet Alex and are coming here. I told them Alex may not see them but they were insistent. They can be single minded when they want to be. They will be here soon."

"I won't force Alex to see them." Kara warned. "But I will give her the choice."

"Thank you."

"I'm back." Kara called entering her sister's house before seeing an extra teen and saying. "Hi Diz."

"Hi."

"Have you guys thought about what you want to do today?" Kara asked.

"We might just hang at home." The teenage Kara said, using 'we' to indicate her and Diz.

"I guessed." Her aunt smiled before looking at her daughter and nephew and asking. "And you two?"

"You choose." Alex offered her cousin.

"How about the space centre?" MJ asked.

"Sure." Kara said.

"Isn't that out of state?" Diz asked. "And more of an overnight trip?"

"We're friends with a billionaire who has their own fleet of fast vehicles." MJ said after a moment of watching his aunt floundering for an answer.

"Hi." Kara called as she returned to the house that evening with her daughter and MJ.

"Hi." Eliza called from the kitchen.

"You're back?" Kara asked. "Who is babysitting Alex?"

"J'onn is keeping an eye on her and she has promised not to leave the infirmary." Eliza said. "Did you guys have fun today?"

"It was great." MJ said. "I'm going to take this stuff upstairs." He added before carrying his bags to his room.

"Did you buy the whole gift shop?" Eliza asked.

"Not quite." Kara smiled.

"Did you enjoy yourself?" Eliza asked her youngest granddaughter.

"Sure."

"Good. Well dinner will be ready in an hour if you want it." Eliza said.

"Sounds good." Kara said before turning to her daughter and saying. "Why don't you say hello to Chewie and then we'll take our stuff back home?"

-00-

"If you are tired you can go back over the road. I'll put this stuff away." Kara said as her daughter stood quietly in the corner as Kara unpacked the souvenirs that had picked up.

"I'm fine."

"You sure? You didn't get much sleep last night and you have been quiet all day."

"I'm okay." The teen said. "What about you? You have been acting weird all day."

"I haven't." Kara said. "But I did want to talk to you."

"Sounds bad."

"It's not. Well not exactly. But I talked to Frax this morning."

"And?"

"Your grandparents are coming to Earth."

"Why?"

"They want to meet you. I told him it is your choice."

"When are they getting here?"

"I don't know. I didn't ask. But I think very soon. I know after everything that happened the timing sucks but-"

"I'll meet them." The teen said.

"You will?" Kara asked.

"Yes, but only if you are there too."

"Of course I'll be there."

-00-

As the group sat round the table eating Kara asked. "So what do you guys want to do tomorrow?" Getting non committal shrugs she said. "I mean there are plenty of chores that need to be done if you'd prefer that."

"No." The trio said before Diz said.

"My boss is looking for volunteers."

"Wildcat?" The older Kara asked as she subconsciously rubbed her arm.

"No my summer boss. The mechanic." Diz said.

"That sounds like hard work." MJ commented.

"He's opening a Go Kart track and wants people to try it out. We could do that."

"What's a Go Kart?" The teenage Alex asked.

"A small vehicle that you race." Her mother explained.

"Aren't I at a huge disadvantage?" MJ asked.

"How?" His sister questioned.

"You can drive and Diz has probably been involved in actual chases." The comment causing his sister to kick him.

"Alex can't drive." His aunt pointed out.

"Still think I need a head start." MJ said rubbing his shin.
