"Everything okay?" Alex asked her sister the next morning when she entered the kitchen.

"I don't know."

"So no then." Alex stated. "Does this have something with you flying out of the house last night and then not returning my calls?"

"Yes." Kara said. When she didn't say anything else Eliza asked.

"Is Alex okay?"

"Yes. No. Maybe. I mean she is fine, but … it doesn't matter."

"Not what the crinkle says." The older Alex countered. "What's going on?"

"Alex wanted to meet with Frax alone in order to get hold of her inheritance."

"Is she wanting to buy something?" Eliza asked.

"Yes." Kara said. "She was trying to get her inheritance so she could buy Lobo's services."

"What?" Eliza asked.

"Alex figured she could just buy Lobo's services and then he wouldn't be a threat." Kara explained.

"I mean it's not a bad idea." The older Alex said.

"You can't trust Lobo." Kara said.

"Yeah, but occupying him with a contract was a smart idea." Alex said.

"We don't kill or have other people kill for us." Kara argued.

"Alex wanted to kill someone?" Eliza asked.

"No, she wanted the contract to state no killing. But you know Lobo will just do something far far worse, like eternal torture."

"At least she was trying you use her head." Alex said.

"Debatable." Kara countered. "I thought I taught her better."

"She was probably trying to protect you." Eliza said. "And protecting family is something you would have taught her."

"I guess." Kara said. "Anyway, I should get to work. Call me if you need anything."

"Did she seem okay?" Eliza asked once Kara had disappeared.

"Ignoring the stress of Alex trying to hire a bounty hunter and all that has gone before? I guess. Why?"

"I don't know something seemed a little off." Eliza replied.

"I'll talk to her at lunch." Alex assured her. "I better go. I'll see you later."

-00-

"You less stressed?" Alex asked when she met her sister for lunch.

"I guess. I don't know. I think I'm tired." Kara said looking at the sandwich she had purchased as they sat on the bench.

"Alex still not sleeping?"

"Actually it is more me not sleeping." Kara confessed.

"Nightmares?"

"In part. In part it is – I don't know. It doesn't matter."

"Didn't sound like it didn't matter."

"I don't know how to explain it. When I am alone, in the dark, it is like I can finally listen to all my inner thoughts and at the moment those inner thoughts are kinda dark and I can feel my anger growing. I don't like feeling like that."

"Lack of sleep probably doesn't help." Alex said.

"I know." Kara sighed. "I'll figure something out."

"Lena is itching for a girls' night out." Alex reminded her.

"I know. I just don't think I'd be good company. Also I want to spend time with Alex."

"To stop her life of crime?"

"Not funny. And no. I'm just worried about what she has been through."

"Why don't you restart training together. Since you got back from Argo you haven't done any. And I am sure Alex would like it."

"You're right." Kara said.

"I normally am." Alex smiled.

"So how is the investigation going. Any sign of Holtz?"

"He is back at his family home being home schooled. We don't have enough evidence to question him, but he is under surveillance."

"And his friends?"

"Two are out of hospital. But even they aren't right, they still crave the pills."

"How many did they have?"

"Only one dose."

"And they already have an addiction?"

"Looks that way. We are trying to figure out why."

"What about the other three?"

"No change. One is still in a coma and the other two are still ill in hospital. Hopefully they'll be seen as an example of why drugs are bad." Alex said before saying. "But this lunch is not meant to be about work, it is meant to be about you. You know you have never actually told me what happened when Tycho had you?" Alex reminded her.

"Does it matter anymore?"

"Yes. Especially if it is stopping you sleeping."

"Alex, I know you want to help, but I just want to move on. All thinking about it does is make me angry and I don't want to be angry."

"Okay. But is there anything I can do to help you with everything?"

"You already have." Kara smiled. "Plus your training idea was good."

"In which case I do have something for you." Alex said.

"You do? What?"

"I have turned one of the DEO training facilities into something useful for Alex. There are lots of obstacles and threats that will hone her different powers. It is not completely finished, but why don't you try it and I can make improvements."

"You are the best." Kara said hugging her sister.

"How come you're back so early?" The teenage Alex asked her mother when she entered the apartment.

"It's not that early and I was hoping we could hang out."

"Sure." The teen said. "What do you want to do?"

"Meal and ice skating?" Kara suggested.

"What about Chewie?" Alex asked.

"Your grandmother is home. I'm sure she'd like his company."

"Okay." The teen said.

"But before we go, I wanted to ask you something."

"What?"

"How about we start training together again?" Kara suggested.

"I thought you didn't want to." Her daughter said.

"Why would you think that?"

"Because you've not mentioned it since we got back to from Argo and when you don't talk about something that normally means you don't want it."

"That's not the case here anyway. I do want to train with you." Kara said. "And I'm sorry I put it on the back burner. So if you want we can restart."

"You sure you want to?"

"Of course I want to." Kara replied. "And Alex has worked up some training facility, so how about we start tomorrow?"

"Okay." Alex said smiling.

"Good. In the mean time, lets go out and get some dinner and you can tell me all about school."

"There are more exciting things to talk about." The teenager pointed out.

"Okay, you pick the topics, I'll pick the food." Kara grinned.

"Thank for the ride." The teenage Kara said to her DEO escorts.

"No problem." Agent Bodner said. "Seeing we have to go where ever you go anyway, it makes sense just to drive you rather then creepily follow you."

"So you are aware that you two look creepy?" The teenager asked looking from one Agent to the other.

"We are not above sitting in the nice, dry, warm car, following you as you walk home in the rain." Jones quipped.

"In fact we could say it was survival training and get bonus points from your mom." Bodner added.

"So you want me to tell mom I gave you the slip?" The teen asked looking innocent.

"You wouldn't lie to your mom." Bodner shrugged.

"I'm a teenager, I do it all the time." Kara grinned as she got out of the car.

"Have fun." Jones said. "But not too much fun. At least not enough fun to get us into trouble with your mother."

"No promises." Kara said shutting the door and heading over the road to the gym. As she entered she looked round for Diz, not seeing him she approached Wildcat.

"Hey Kara." He smiled.

"He's gone to get more gloves from my car. You can go hurry him up if you want."

"Okay." She said heading to the fire exit at the back and walking into the small parking lot.

Looking round she didn't see Diz, but she did she Wildcat's car so she started walking towards it. But as she got closer she saw Diz lying on the floor a man crouching next to him with a hand on his chest.

"Diz!" She called. In response the man turned towards her and moments later found herself collapsing to the floor with dizziness.

Trying to suppress the nausea she reached up and squeezed her necklace before passing out only vaguely aware of footsteps running towards her.
