(Our story opens, as it typically does for Nathan Drake, in the thick of the adventure. Right now, he's running through a marsh carrying what looks like a miniature coffin. And he's consistently looking over his shoulder, seeing something that scares even him)

Nathan Drake: OH CRAP!

(Without a second thought, Nathan Drake starts running. And soon afterwards we see why, he's being pursued by a tank.)

Nathan Drake: How do I keep getting myself into these sorts of situations?!

(Nathan Drake keeps running, knowing he's dead if that tank gets any closer to him. But soon enough the tank starts closing the gap. And Nathan Drake runs out of places to run, cornered by the giant mushrooms growing all over the place. At first, Nathan Drake panics, realizing nobody is coming to help him.)

Nathan Drake: (With a sigh of reluctant acceptance) Well, it's been a good run. (Under his breath) See you soon, Sam.

(And just when it looks like Nathan Drake's luck has run out, a shadow swoops down over the scene and grabs him by the shoulders, pulling him out of the way as the tank rolls through, and as they fly away, we see exactly who it is, a familiar ebon-scaled dragoness)

Nathan Drake: Cynder?!

Cynder: Sorry to keep you waiting, Nate. Did you get it?

Nathan Drake: (Showing off the miniature coffin without dropping it) Right in hand. Now let's get out of here before those creeps catch up to us.

Cynder: Gladly, hop on!

(With that invitation, Nathan Drake climbs onto Cynder's back as they appear to be getting away, but then he notices the tank isn't done with them, aiming it's cannon at them.)

Nathan Drake: Oh crap. LOOK OUT!

(But it's too late, the tank fires a shot. But we don't see what happens, instead fading to black as we flashback to see how we got into this mess.)

*Five Days Earlier*

(The story picks back up five days ago, in New Orleans, where Nathan Drake and his wife, Elena, appear to be looking over multiple documents, apparently doing their taxes of all things)

Nathan Drake: I never would've expected my life would've taken this mundane a turn.

Elena: After all the madness we went through in hunting Sir Francis Drake and his legacy, I figured a bit of ordinary would be welcome.

Nathan Drake: Touche.

Elena: (Finishing up the document) Well, there we go. Looks like we're getting a refund this year.

Nathan Drake: For once.

Elena: $900 in a refund doesn't exactly make up for owing the past few years.

Nathan Drake: Still better than nothing.

Elena: Fair enough.

Nathan Drake: (Putting his records down) You know what? We should really get out a bit.

Elena: It's not like either of us has much family left to visit anymore.

Nathan Drake: Not like we usually do, I'm thinking we need a vacation. I've got 10 days in vacation time saved up from the salvaging gig, plus you've got some backpay from when your show was on air. We can make it work, I'm sure.

Elena: It seems like every time we go anywhere, it turns into one of your crazy adventures.

Nathan Drake: I swear, that's not going to happen this time.

Elena: Don't make promises you can't keep. So, where were you thinking? Considering we've been pretty much all over the world.

Nathan Drake: There's one place I've always wanted to go, but never had a reason to visit. The Dragon Realms.

Elena: (Thinks about it) Honestly, that doesn't sound half bad. Great stretches of shoreline, lots of history, amazing cuisine and culture, that actually sounds like a great idea.

Nathan Drake: Well, I'll just call up Sully and that'll cut travel costs considerably, if not entirely.

Elena: Assuming Sully's up for it.

Nathan Drake: Something tells me Sully of all people will be up for a vacation. He's always talking about going somewhere warm, joints and all that.

Elena: You know what? I'm in. Give him a call, and I'll start booking a hotel.

Nathan Drake: This is going to be a great time. You won't regret it, I swear!

Elena: So long as we don't run into any tales of ancient treasure.

Nathan Drake: Come on, Elena. What could go wrong?

(And as Nathan Drake asks the question you should never ask, our tale ends for today)

And that looks like a good spot to end for today. So, Nathan and Elena are going on vacation in the Dragon Realms. And it looks like we already know how that turns out. I won't give too much context for the tank chase, yet. You'll see how that turns out in time. That scene, by the by, was inspired by the opening of Uncharted 4. I figured it made for a heck of an opening, before we explain how we got there. So, what happens when the Drakes get to the Land of Dragons? Tune in next time to start finding out!
