Welcome back to Uncharted Beyond Realms. Last time, Spyro and Cynder got into a little bit of an argument over where the next pendant is. Spyro thinks it might be in the Mountain of Malefor, while Cynder thinks that's nuts. As the group decides to at least check it out, Nathan Drake delays their leaving for a moment to see what's going on with Cynder. So, what's up there? Read on to discover, at least in part...

(Our story resumes with Nathan Drake having followed Cynder into a giant training area hidden deep within the fortress of Concurrent Skies. And in the room, we see Cynder beating up on a training dummy, venting her frustrations.)

Nathan Drake: Cynder?

Cynder: (Ceases beating up the dummy) What are you doing here?

Nathan Drake: I came to talk

Cynder: Here I thought you were busy following Spyro's nutso theory.

Nathan Drake: We will be heading out, once I get done here.

Cynder: And what exactly are you trying to do here?

Nathan Drake: Figure out what's going on with you and Spyro.

Cynder: (Clearly frustrated) That has nothing to do with this.

Nathan Drake: If it interferes with our ability to work as a team, then it does.

Cynder: (With a frustrated exhale) Fair point.

Nathan Drake: So what happened?

Cynder: It's a long story.

Nathan Drake: If it works for you, I'll just take the condensed version so we can get on the mission.

Cynder: Agreed. Let's just say it started when I entered the Guard and Spyro started doing his thing.

Nathan Drake: Go on...

Cynder: Let's just say we didn't quite agree on our paths, as you noticed. What very few know is, at first, I did try his current life. I figured it made sense. We'd been in the spotlight for so long, stepping away would make sense.

Nathan Drake: But something happened didn't it?

Cynder: I never quite felt right in the background. But can you blame me? I was raised as a weapon of war. It's all I know. Even when the fighting is done, I felt out of place without it. So I signed up for the Guard, started as a Bounty Hunter and worked my way up through the ranks.

Nathan Drake: Sounds like people didn't get it.

Cynder: Most people understood. Spyro didn't. He just assumed a peaceful life was right for both of us. That's what the "you just have to be right" thing was about. I'm surprised we didn't break up over that. We came close.

Nathan Drake: Feels like you're still teetering.

Cynder: He still doesn't like it. I don't get what's up with him? Does he just not want me to be happy?

Nathan Drake: I really doubt that's the case.

Cynder: He's not doing a very good job of disproving my point though.

Nathan Drake: Look, I'll talk to him. But I need to know that you'll still be there should things go wrong.

Cynder: My duty is to defend dragonkind. If I'm needed, I'll be there.

Nathan Drake: That's all I ask. But... I have to ask. Why are you so violently opposed to this theory?

Cynder: I know my father. Terrador never set foot in that Ancestors-forsaken place.

Nathan Drake: (Thinking of something on the fly) What if this Hunter person was the one who put it there? Like, when he came to find you two.

Cynder: (Ponders that for a second) That... would make a bit of sense. Not much more, given enemy forces were still swarming the place.

Nathan Drake: Admittedly, I've got to say I'm more for your theory of the two. Maybe "nightmare's womb" meant somewhere different at first, like where Malefor was born.

Cynder: Maybe. Now, if I'm not mistaken, you've got a voyage to get on with.

Nathan Drake: Yeah. I better get moving.

Cynder: I'll be behind you.

(With that reassurance behind him, Nathan Drake leaves the training room as Cynder resumes beating up the training dummy as the scene ends)

That looks like a good spot to end for now. So, now we get some explanation as to the relationship problems Spyro and Cynder are having. And yes, before anyone complains about it, we will hear Spyro's side of the story in due time. I just had Cynder's side on the brain first. So, what awaits as Nathan Drake and company head straight to Malefor's former base of operations? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
