"Thanks for last night." Kara said as the two sisters walked back over to Alex's house the next day.

"You don't have to thank me for being your sister." Alex pointed out. "I just wish I could help you more." She added as opened the front door. "Should we be worried about the silence?" Alex asked.

"It's still early." Kara said as they entered the empty kitchen.

"Still too quiet." Alex said opening a door.

"Every thing okay?" Kara asked as her sister looked through the cupboards.

"No, I am losing my mind." Alex said.

"What do you mean?"

"I'm sure I had flour, but I can't see it."

"Why were you looking for flour?" Kara asked trying not to look guilty.

"To make breakfast."

"Want me to go get some?"

"No, it's my screwup."

"Technically not really." Kara said.

"What do mean?"

"I may have borrowed a few ingredients and forgot to replace them. Sorry."

"You were cooking?" Alex asked confused.

"Eliza was." Kara said as Alex looked in the fridge.

"Well seeing we are out of milk-"

"Sorry." Kara chipped in.

"Let's just buy breakfast in." Alex said as they heard the front door open. Confused they looked up and saw Eliza and the teenage Alex walk in carrying several bags.

"We thought you were asleep." Kara said.

"No, we went out to buy food." Eliza said as the teenage Alex put down her bags before finding herself being hugged by her mother.

"You okay?" The teen asked.

"Yes, I just missed you." Kara said finally releasing her.

"Where are the others?" Alex asked.

"Diz went for a run and the others are asleep." Eliza said.

"Can you keep an eye on the kids today?" Alex asked her mother.

"Of course. Where are you going?" Eliza asked.

"Work."

"It's Sunday." Kara said.

"I know. But I don't think the Diasporans observe the sabbath." Alex pointed out.

"Have you found something?"

"Not yet. Hence I need to go in."

"Want me there?"

"No. You stay and rest." Alex said as Diz came back into the house. As he walked into the kitchen and saw the group of females he was about to do an abrupt turn when Eliza said. "We got your favourite protein shake."

"Oh, thanks." He said taking the bottle from her.

"Do you want breakfast?" Eliza offered.

"Thanks, but I think I'll shower first." He said backing out of the kitchen.

"Poor guy." Kara commented.

"What are you doing here?" Alex asked when Supergirl wandered into her office a few hours later.

"Well Alex is gaming with MJ and Martin so there wasn't much to do at home and seeing this mess is my fault I thought I should help clear it up."

"How is it your fault?"

"If it weren't for me Lobo wouldn't have drawn their attention to Earth."

"I don't know." Alex said. "We have a knack for drawing unwanted attention." Alex said as Harris knocked on her door.

"Ma'am, you have a visitor."

"Who even knows I am working this weekend?" Alex asked.

"A doctor Steve Keller." He said causing the sisters to look at each other confused.

"Show him up." Alex said to Harris before asking her sister.

"Any idea?"

"No. He didn't say anything about wanting to see you yesterday." Kara said.

"Hi Steve is everything okay?" Alex asked as a tired looking Steve was shown to her office.

"I don't know. I apologise for dumping this on you, but I know you are working on this. Well I think you are. I'd have checked with Kara, but I know she is dealing with things and I don't want to add to her stress." He then noticed the look Alex was given him and apologised. "Sorry, I've just come off a double shift and I am a little tired." He said moments before Supergirl passed him some coffee.

"Thanks." He said, feeling slightly unnerved that Supergirl was waiting on him.

"You haven't tried it yet." Alex pointed out. "So what's wrong?"

"Do you remember the incident at the school, where those kids took drugs and one of them ended up in a coma?"

"Yes." Alex confirmed.

"I think there are more cases. Kind of. Not exactly but they may be linked. That is I'm seeing a bunch of cased that I think are connected."

"I thought you were a surgeon?" Alex said.

"I am. And I have been maxed out doing cardiovascular surgery. This may be nothing, but something is off and it may not be connected, but if it was, you seem the person to tell." He said once again not making sense.

"Steve, I need you to start at the beginning."

"Right. Sorry. Okay, last week a college student was brought in having collapsed. He was in cardiac arrest. One of his heart valves had, this will sound crazy, broken, we tried to repair it, and had almost finish when his heart went into overdrive and he died on the table. At the time I thought he had taken Crystal Meth or something. But all the tox result came back normal. I know young people can die from heart issues, having never known there was an issue But something seemed different. But I went on with life. But then recently there have been a spike in cardiac cases coming into the hospital. Standard tox screens show nothing. But something isn't right. It is like their hearts changed. This morning I lost an eighteen year old." He said sadly. "What I am about to give you I'd prefer never got back to me." He said removing something from his pocket before passing a vial of blood to Alex.

"I'll run this now." Alex said.

"Thanks."

"Don't take this the wrong way, but you look terrible. Why don't you come down to the infirmary and get some sleep?"

"I should get back to Martin."

"Isn't he with MJ and Alex?"

"Yeah."

"Then leave him there. Get some rest." Alex said. "I'll tell mom that you'll be over later."

"Thanks for coming down." Alex said as Agent Bell walked into the lab.

"Of course, it sounded serious."

"It is." Alex confirmed. "The drugs are still hitting the street."

"I thought we were watching the shops that were selling drugs." Bell said.

"So did I, maybe they figured out we were and they moved onto different sellers."

"Are we sure they are being sold, I mean I haven't heard any chatter."

"Neither had I, but a local doctor came to me having noticed a spike in cardio cases where the heart kinda broke. The valves either broke or disconnected." Alex said. "While that could be coincidence, the blood sample from the latest victim confirmed the presence of the drug, well a modified form of it."

"How many cases are we looking at?" Bell asked.

"No way to say for sure. But tens if not hundreds. My team is looking for links between all the possible victims, but nothing is jumping out. Plus we have only scratched the surface." Alex said as they heard a crash from the adjacent room.

"Crazy alien?" Bell asked.

"No, a sleep deprived doctor." Alex said walking into the room where Steve was putting on his shoes.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to stay for so long. I've got to go." He said standing.

"Steve it's fine. The kids have gone to see some movie." Alex said. "As harsh as it sounds I doubt Martin has even noticed."

"That's probably fair." He agreed before asking. "Did you find anything?"

"Unfortunately yes. It looks like you were right." Alex said before adding. "This is Agent Bell, she is working the case with us. Can you tell us everything you have noticed, no matter how small the detail?"

"Sure. But are you sure Martin is okay?"

"He's fine." Alex said.

"Okay." Steve agreed.

"Let's go to the briefing room." Alex said leading the group out of the lab to her briefing room, where Supergirl was waiting.

"I thought we may need these." She said looking down at the tray of coffees she was holding. "I got everyone's favourites." She added as she passed them out. But as Steve took a sip he asked.

"How did you know this was my favourite?"

"Umm, this is the DEO." Supergirl said.

"And I thought it was less sinister than the CIA." Steve said.

"It is." Supergirl said. "I mean I have muffins as well."

"We're back." Alex called as she entered the house with Steve.

"Through here." Eliza called back from the lounge.

"Hi." Alex said.

"Where's your sister?" Eliza asked noticing her absence.

"Working." Alex said before adding. "On a story. But she is meeting us at a restaurant." She explained.

"What restaurant?" Eliza asked confused.

"An Italian." Steve said. "As a thank you for looking after Martin. It's a good mix of heart clogging food and vegetables. So something for Kara and Alex. You are more than welcome to come as well. I booked it for everyone."

"Where are the kids?" Alex asked.

"Upstairs."

"It's very quiet." Alex pointed out.

"They are doing homework."

"Voluntarily?" Steve asked surprised.

"There may have been bribery involved." Eliza confessed.

"Whatever works." Steve said.

"I'll go get them ready." Alex said.

"Did you get any sleep last night?" Kara asked when she and her daughter got home that evening and Alex just flopped on the couch.

"Right back at you." The teen said as Kara sat next to her. "Are you feeling any better?"

"I'm fine, don't worry about me." Kara said hugging her. The comment earning a snort from her daughter. "I am working through some things, but it's not your job to worry about me." Kara said. "Your job is to be a teenager and have fun. To test boundaries and figure out what you want from life, what you want be, what you want to do." Kara listed before noticing Alex had fallen to sleep. Looking down at Chewie Kara said. "Fine I will save that pep talk for another time." With that she scooped her daughter up and carried her the teen's bedroom.
