"We are still alive so that's a good sign." Vasquez said.

"I don't know, this could be hell." Alex said dryly.

"Ma'am, the EWR is reporting huge explosions from the location of the fleet." Harris reported.

"So it worked?" Alex asked.

"It looks that way. No repo- wait."

"What is it?" Alex asked.

"There was a large explosion picked up from Earth."

"Where?" Alex asked. "Did we miss one?"

"Trying to narrow it down now. Adding magnetometer data to the radar data." Harris said as the screen showed a map that started to narrow down the location until finally it settled on Lena's building.

"Lena's lab." Alex said.

"The kids." Supergirl said grabbing her sister and flying off.

Slowly coming round the teenage Alex tried to remember what had happened. As she sat up she looked down at her hand and saw the lifeless looking ring on her finger. Immediately she tried to remove it, partly assuming it would be welded on somehow. Yet, it easily slid off and she threw it to one side. Confused she looked round the room and saw her cousins and Diz lying unconscious in the cell. What she couldn't see was Lobo. Before she could dwell on it she heard a familiar voice shout.

"Alex?"

"Mom?" The teenager said getting to her feet.

"Alex? Are you okay?" Her mother said running to her and hugging her, as the older Alex went to the other teens who were starting to stir.

"You're okay?" The teenage Alex asked.

"I'm fine. Are you hurt?" Kara asked pulling back and looking for damage.

"No."

"What happened?"

"I think I destroyed the lantern ring." She said as her aunt ran the other teens who were starting to come round in what was left of the cell.

"Mom?" MJ asked groggily before suddenly exclaiming. "Alex?"

"She's fine." His mother said.

"How? That explosion was huge. Actually how are we okay?" He asked looking round.

"Maybe the cell's forcefield protected us." His sister said as she helped Diz sit up.

"How are you feeling?" The older Alex asked.

"Okay. Where's grandam and Lena?" The teenage Kara asked.

"I don't know. But we'll find them." Alex said as she suddenly heard her niece cry.

"Mom!"

Turning Alex saw Kara facing her daughter as Lobo stuck a large blade so far through her sister's back it protruded through her chest.

Locking eyes with the teenage Alex Lobo smiled and pulled the blade out of Kara who fell to her knees.

"This is only the start of your regret." Lobo said walking off.

"Mom! No." Alex cried as she dropped down and cradled her mother.

"S'kay-" Kara said struggling to breathe.

"Mom?"

"Need you … to list … listen to me." Kara said fighting to remain conscious. "I'm so proud of you."

"Mom, no."

"There will … will always be light in your heart … let it guide you."

"Ieiu!" The teenager cried when her mother went limp.

"Help her." The teen pleaded to her aunt who arrived at her side.

"Kara!" The older Alex called searching for a pulse. "Kara, don't do this." She ordered, only to be met by silence. "Kara." She said again looking at her sister's unmoving chest and seeing the wound that had gone through her heart. "Kara!" She shouted tears running down her face as her brain accepted what her heart couldn't.

"Do something." The teenage Alex pleaded.

"Kara!" Alex pleaded while slowly accepting that her heart had stopped and she wasn't breathing.

"Save her." The teenager begged.

"I can't. The blade, it went through her heart. She's gone." Alex said.

"No." The teenager said pushing her aunt to one side and clinging to her mother's body.

"What's-" J'onn said leading Eliza and Lena into the room before seeing Kara motionless on the ground. Looking to the older Alex he saw her sadly shake her head and realised it was over.

"Kara!" Eliza cried rushing to her daughter's side.

"It was Lobo." Alex said. "He may still be around. Can you take those three home?" She asked J'onn, looking over at the other three teens who sat too shocked to move.

"Of course." J'onn said, leaving the two Alexes and Eliza by Kara's dead body as Lena stood to one side.

"Alex, we have to get you somewhere safe." The older Alex said. "There is nothing else we can do for your mom. I'm sorry."

"No." The teen sobbed clinging to her mother.

"Alex, above all else your mom would want you to be safe. So I need you to come with me." Eliza said.

"No." The teen cried, clinging to her mother as if it would magically revive her.

"I'm so sorry Sweetie." Eliza said wrapping her arms round her crying granddaughter and lifeless daughter.

"We have to go." The older Alex repeated. This time her words seemed to get through the teen who finally released her mother's body and Eliza pulled her into her arms and silently held her until J'onn returned.

"Take them home." Alex instructed J'onn who silently grabbed hold of Eliza and the teenager leaving the older Alex, Lena and Kara's body.

"Are you hurt?" Alex asked Lena who still stood motionless. Getting no response Alex said. "Lena?"

"Sorry what?" Lean asked.

"Are you hurt?"

"No. I'm fine." She said.

"You're bleeding." Alex pointed out causing Lena to touch her forehead.

"It must have been from the grenade. I'm fine." Lena said before suddenly shaking off her shock and moving to Kara's side. "She has to be alive. She can't die." Lena said searching for any sign of life.

"The blade went straight through her heart." Alex said as Vasquez came over the radio.

"Alex we have a problem."

"Not now." Alex snapped.

"Yes now. The Diasporans who were in Alaska have just launched attacks on several cities. There are over six hundred in National City, we need Sup-"

"She's gone." Alex said, her voice quivering with emotion.

"What?" Vasquez asked.

"She's gone." Alex repeated before killing the radio link, knowing any more words and she would break down.

She then turned to Lena and was about to speak when J'onn flew in.

"What now?" J'onn asked.

"Take her to the DEO. Tell Vasquez she knows what to do." Alex said looking at Kara's motionless body.

"What about you?" J'onn asked.

"I need to make sure Lobo isn't still here." Alex said unsheathing her gun and walking off.

As Alex walked into the lounge a couple of hours later she saw her family, less her niece, sitting silently on the couch.

"Hi." Alex said. On seeing their mother both her children jumped up and hugged her. Silently she returned the hug offering them as much support as she could. When they finally pulled away she asked. "You okay?" In response she was met by two non committal shrugs and she hugged them again.

Finally she released them and asked. "Where's Alex?"

"Upstairs. We put her in your room." Eliza said. "But She hasn't said anything to anyone since she got back." Eliza said. "Other than she wanted to be alone, which she was pretty forceful about."

"I'll talk to her." Alex said before looking at her kids again. "I'll be back soon." With that she left the room and headed upstairs and walked into her bedroom, where her teenage namesake was lying on the bed, her back to the door. Chewie, loyally at her side.

"Hey." The older Alex said walking to the bed. Not getting a response she sat down on the bed next to her niece and asked. "Can I get you anything?"

"No." The teen replied as the older Alex realised the teenager was still wearing the same clothes she had been wearing earlier. Clothes that were soaked in her mother's blood.

"Okay, well you need to get changed."

"I don't want to." She said with such conviction it was as if she believed taking off the bloodstained garment would confirm recent events as real.

"I know. But I need to check you out anyway."

"For what?"

"Injuries. That was a big explosion and unlike the others you weren't protected by the force field."

"I'm fine."

"No you're not. Neither am I." The older Alex said going for a different approach.

"It was always just us." The teen said. "I don't know what to do now."

"No one will ever be able to replace your mother." The older Alex said. "But we will always be your family and you will always have a home."

"How did she do it?"

"Do what?" Her aunt asked.

"Keep going. After she got to Earth. She'd lost her parents, her family, her friends, her planet. How did she keep going?"

"She was strong and special. Just like you." Alex said.

"I don't feel either of those."

"I know. But you are." Alex said. "And just remember you aren't alone."

"I miss her." The teenage Alex said crying.

"I know." The older Alex said. As the teen sobbed hysterically the older Alex pulled her into her arms and held her.
