"Hi." Kara said answering her phone an hour later.

"How's Alex?" Her sister asked.

"Okay. I hope."

"Where are you?"

"CatCo."

"With Alex?"

"Kind of. She is talking to Cat." Kara explained.

"Why?"

"Cat asked to see her."

"Well, what are they talking about."

"Don't know." Kara said looking over at the office.

"You could listen." Her sister reminded her.

"Cat would know." Kara said, glancing over at the office again and adding. "And Alex looks better then when I picked her up." She then saw the assistant approach the office carrying a bag and a drinks tray that had a coffee and a large milkshake. "Is that chocolate?" Kara asked.

"Is what chocolate?" Her sister asked confused.

"The milkshake."

"You know you aren't making sense?" Alex asked as the assistant left Cat's office and headed to Kara.

"I've got to go." Kara said hanging up.

"Ms Grant said you can go in when you have finished your article." The assistant said as he put a bag on her desk.

"Thanks." Kara said before opening the bag and finding a muffin in it.

"So what did you and Cat talk about?" Kara asked as they walked home.

"What happened and how to help you."

"Me?" Kara asked confused.

"Cat said you wouldn't be okay until you believed I was okay."

"That's true." Kara agreed. "Which why we need to focus on making sure you are okay."

"I can't forget what I saw." The teen said.

"I know." Kara said wrapping an arm round her as they walked. "I wish there was a way to undo everything you have been through. But there isn't."

"I know. Cat said I have to keep going or I will lose my path."

"That's kinda good advice." Kara said.

"I saw the stories." The teen said seemingly changing topics.

"What stories?" Kara asked.

"That Supergirl is dead."

"Prime example why you shouldn't believe everything you read." Kara replied.

"When you came to the school, why didn't you come as Supergirl?"

"I was too worried about you to worry about that." Kara said.

"Are you coming back?" The teenager asked..

"Back where?" Kara asked confused.

"As Supergirl."

"Oh, I don't know."

"Because you are worried about me?"

"You pay the price of me being Supergirl."

"But it makes you happy? I mean you like it right?"

"I like helping people." Kara agreed. "But you being happy is more important. And it makes you angry. You said as much."

"Not exactly." The teen said.

"Yeah you did." Kara said.

"No I didn't." The teen countered. "I said I was mad that you are always getting hurt and that you are always willing to put others first and that you never put yourself first. But that's not a Supergirl thing it's a you thing. All the years we were living on other planets you were the same and there was no Supergirl there." She said before apologising. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said anything."

"Yes you should." Kara said facing her daughter, placing a hand on either shoulder. "You have always told me everything. I don't want that to stop. I want you to tell me when things are bothering you. Promise me you will never stop doing that."

"I promise." The teen replied.

"You said something else back in the desert, you said that you don't want me to sacrifice myself and that will make me disappointed in you." She paused and waited for the teen to recall saying that before going on. "Firstly, you could never disappoint me. And secondly you do the same."

"What are you talking about?"

"When you were with Lobo you took the ring to save your cousin. You sacrifice yourself for others too." Kara said. "And I was both angry and proud that you did that. So I understand how you feel."

"I was wrong in the desert." The teenager said. "I'm not really angry at you. I'm scared. I'm scared of losing you, of being alone."

"I know." Kara said hugging her. "But no matter what happens you will never be alone. You have so much capacity to love, and people will always be drawn to that."

Eventually she pulled away and Alex said.

"You never answered my question about coming back as Supergirl. Do you actually have a choice? I mean Lobo will come regardless."

"You're right." Kara said. "But if I am going to be back as Supergirl I am going to have to train harder. Maybe some of that training could be together?" Kara said suggested.

"Are you going to freak out if I get hurt?"

"Of course." Kara said. "But I will try not to leave you in the desert."

"Can we start tonight?"

"Tonight?" Kara asked.

"Or do you need to rest?"

"I'm fine. Let's go train. But we are not using your aunt's house of horrors." Kara said, before pausing and adding while holding out her hand. "But if we do this you need to give me your inhibitors."

Nodding Alex removed the inhibitors and passed them to her mother who added. "From now on these are only for nighttime. And we are cutting down how many nights you use them."

As Kara taught her daughter how to channel her energy more efficiently they heard a roar in the distance that got louder and louder. As it did they could see a cloud of dust approaching.

Eventually the roaring stopped and once the dust had settled they saw Lobo climb off his bike and stride towards them.

"Hey Bastich!" Lobo greeted only to be punched in the jaw by Kara so hard he hit the deck. "I missed you too." He said standing only to be punched again, this time the punch was so powerful he went flying back into a large rock.

"Is that anyway to greet me after everything I did for you?" He asked shaking off the effects.

"You stabbed me through the heart and you gave me something that effectively killed me."

"Well I'm quite the giver. Genius wasn't it?" He asked standing. "Until the humans ruined it. If they had just buried you, I would have taken your body and by now we'd be starting our married life out there somewhere."

"You're sick." Kara said throwing another punch, only this time Lobo caught her hand.

"That's why yer luv me." He grinned, only for Kara to knee his groin with super strength sending him to the floor. "Love it when yer play rough." He squeaked from the ground.

"Leave us alone, I never want to see you again." Kara said.

"You probably mean that. But I don't care." Lobo said wincing as he got to his feet. But as he stepped towards Kara he was stopped by an invisible forcefield. "You two are a lot of fun." He said taking a step back and taking out a cigar. "But you need to work on your stamina." He said looking at the teenager. "In a few minutes you'll pass out and there will be no one to protect your mom." He pointed out causing Alex to encase him in the forcefield. Seeing he was beginning to suffocate Kara said.

"Alex, let him go."

"No." The teen said as Lobo struggled for breath.

"Let him go." Kara repeated.

"But-"

"Now." Kara said.

"Fine." The teen said releasing the forcefield.

After a few splutters Lobo looked at Alex and grinned as he said.

"Bet you wanted to kill me. You and me are-" He was cut off by Kara kicking him in the ribs hard enough to send him flying several feet backwards.

"Leave Alex alone. No one is like you, especially Alex."

"Getting nice and angry?" Lobo asked getting to his feet.

"I'm just working off some stress." Kara said. "Although cars talk back less." She said punching him again. This time he absorbed the blow and stayed on his feet before asking.

"How about it?"

"How about what?" Kara asked.

"The three of us, rampaging through the galaxy. Liven' up the joint."

"Not happening." Kara said as an alarm went off on Lobo's arm.

"Yer lucky. Need to go frag someone. But I'll be back." He said walking back to his bike. "Oh, before I go, I have a friend who wants to meet you." He said taking a large container out of box on his bike. Turning Kara saw the black slime in the jar and immediately froze.

"Hard to think this was powerful enough to defeat you." Lobo said looking at the contents. "He needs a new home. Any takers?"

The question causing Kara's eyes to start glowing.

"This side of you is so much more fun." Lobo grinned as the device on his wrist bleeped again. "He's so getting croaked." Lobo said looking at the device. He then turned back to Kara and Alex. "Don't worry we'll be back." Lobo said putting the jar back in the box before getting on his bike and riding off.

"You okay?" Kara asked looking at her daughter.

"Fine. You?"

"I'm fine." Kara said hugging her. "Let's go home."

-00-

"You two okay?" The older Alex asked the second her sister and niece entered the apartment.

"We're fine." Kara said.

"You sure?" Alex asked.

"We're fine." Kara repeated.

"Do you need to go under the lamps?"

"No." Kara said. Not believing her Alex looked at her niece and asked. "Does she?"

"No. It was Lobo who took the beating." The teen said.

"Really?" Alex asked.

"No need to look that surprised." Kara commented.

"Sorry, well the good news is we know he has left orbit." The older Alex said.

"We guessed." Kara said. "Why are you here?"

"I was worried about you."

"I promise you we are both okay." Kara said.

"Good." Her sister said, although she didn't move.

"Where are the kids?" Kara asked.

"Well Kara is off with Diz and MJ has practice."

"And Eliza?"

"J'onn took her to dinner."

"You want to hangout with us?" The teenage Alex asked.

"You sure that's okay?" The older Alex said.

"Sure."

"In that case I will go get some takeout. I'll be back in a minute." Kara said before looking at her daughter. "You okay with that?"

"I'm fine." The teen said hugging.

"Back soon." Kara said disappearing.

"You feeling better?" The older Alex asked her niece.

"I guess." The teenager said before looking at her aunt and asking. "Alex?"

"Yeah." Her aunt replied.

"Thank you for bringing mom back." She said hugging her.

"That was more your mom than me." The older Alex pointed out.

"But you didn't give up on her. If you had Lobo would have her. Thank you." She said, the comment causing Alex to wonder what exactly had happened with Lobo.
