As our heroes continue towards Oriburg City for Davis' next gym battle, they're on their way to another interesting sight that's only going to be around for a short while.
"Here we are!" Cletus said as they stood at the entrance of an amusement park called Battle Utopia.
"Wow! Look at this place!" Imperialdramon said as it was huge with rides, stands, and there even places to battle. It was like paradise for those who love to battle.
"We made it just in time. I'm not sure how long this place would have remained open." Tetsu said.
"What are we waiting for? Let's go!" Davis said as he can't wait for all the fun that lies inside just waiting for them.

(Davis' voice) Rotating Switch
Davis and the others were able to go inside the amusement park. Once they got in there, they all went on all the rides and ate all the food they could. A place like this was just to great to ignore. They rode the roller coasters, the bumper cars, even a bungee ride. When they weren't riding, they enjoyed the food that was amazing with the games so much fun. This place was the perfect combination of thrill and pleasure.
"Oh man! This place is awesome!" Davis said as he stuffed his face with cotton candy. "I'm so glad that we came."
"And I heard there's going to be a great firework show tonight. We can't miss that." Tetsu said.
"We'll see it all, guys. We have all day." Cletus said.
"Well, what I want to check out are the battlefields. You can battle here and I need to find someone to battle." Davis said.
"Hey, check that out." Tetsu said as he spotted something interesting. They spotted a Grotle, a Monferno, and Prinplup all helping out around the amusement park as they carried some boxes to some stands.
"A Grotle, a Monferno, and a Prinplup! Those are the evolved forms of the three starter pokemon from Sinnoh!" Cletus said as it was amazing to see the three of them together. Wanting to know more, Davis pulled out his pokedex.
"Grotle, the Grove Pokemon. A grass-type, and the evolve form of Turtwig. It's shell is hardened soil and many pokemon feed on the berries that grow on its back."
"Monferno, the Playful Pokemon. A fire and fighting type, and the evolve form of Chimchar. The blue on Monferno's face indicate how powerful they are. It's fiery tail is just one of the weapons it can use in battle."
"Prinplup, the Penguin Pokemon. A water-type, and the evolve form of Piplup. Its wings are strong enough to cut through trees, and they can also be used to help swim through frigid waters."
"I can't believe we're seeing all three together like this! It's incredible!" Tetsu said. "Do you think they're all under one trainer or they each have their own?" They were all curious as to why all three of them were here, but that would wait for a box fell off Grotle's shell and all the contents scattered everywhere.
"Oh man!" That was when a guy came out. He had tanned skin with messy blonde hair under a red hat that had a pokeball sign on it. He also wore a white shirt with the same symbol in the corner and wore jeans.
"Grotle..." Grotle felt bad about dropping it.
"It's okay, Grotle. You didn't mean to." Its trainer said as he tried to clean it up.
"Hey. Need a hand?" Davis offered as he and the others came over and helped him out.
"Thanks." The guy said.
"No problem. Are all three of these pokemon yours?" Tetsu said.
"They are." The trainer said as his three pokemon introduced themselves. "My name is Nathan."
"It's nice to meet you. I'm Davis."
"And I'm Imperialdramon."
"My name is Tetsu."
"And I'm Cletus."
"So, do you work here or something?" Davis asked.
"Uh... Not exactly." Nathan said as they cleaned up the mess. "I was passing by here a couple days ago while they were setting this place up. I offered if I could help out and they said I could. The people who run this place were grateful for my help that they allowed me to crash here until I hit the road again."
"Sounds like you caught a lucky break. This place is awesome." Tetsu said.
"You need any help carrying these boxes?" Cletus offered.
"That would be nice. Thanks again." Nathan said. Davis and the others were glad to help him out as they grabbed the boxes and carried them to where they needed to go. Once they got the last of the boxes there, all of them sat together and just tried to enjoy themselves. "That's the last of it."
"It must take a lot of work to keep this place running." Tetsu said. "Hey, can I ask you something, Nathan?"
"What is it?" Nathan asked.
"How did you manage to get all three of your pokemon here?" Tetsu asked. "It's rare a trainer to have a set like this."
"I like to hear that myself." Davis said.
"Well, I suppose you could call it chance, faith, luck, or whatever you like." Nathan said as he remembered how he met his three friends well. "When I started out as a trainer, I chose Turtwig as my starter, and it recently evolved into Grotle. Around that time, we found ourselves lost in the woods." He remembered how he and his newly evolved Grotle searched around the woods and tried to find their way out. "Neither of us were really sure where to go. That was until we found Monferno. When we did, Monferno was hurt and hungry." Searching through those woods, the two soon found Monferno in pretty bad shape and just had to help it. "I treated Monferno and gave it some of our food. In exchange, Monferno showed us the way out. Monferno was so grateful that it decided to stick with us. Isn't that right?" He said as he petted Monferno's head.
"Monferno!"
"That's an interesting story." Cletus said.
"What about Prinplup?" Imperialdramon asked.
"That's a different story." Nathan said. "I was out fishing and caught myself an oddly colored Magikarp. When that happened, another trainer came around." He remembered catching a yellow Magikarp and that caught the attention of another trainer. "Red was the trainer's favorite color, and hew a Magikarp like that would become a red Gyarados. When saw Monferno and Grotle, he offered to trade for his Prinplup." When the trainer offered the trade, it seemed too good to pass. "That's how I got Prinplup and it was a great deal."
"Prinplup!" All three of those pokemon clearly loved Nathan and Nathan loved having all three of them.
"Seems like all four of you are great together." Cletus said.
"Yeah. That is either lucky or was fate." Tetsu said as they were all impressed by Nathan's story.
"Having all three of these guys is awesome. Especially since they'll help me win the Centros League." Nathan claimed. That part caught Davis' attention the most. "With a team like these three, we'll win for sure."
"That's not going to happen." Davis claimed. "It won't happen because I'm the one who is going to win the Centros League."
"Is that so, Davis?" Nathan said as the sparks of rivalry were already forming between them. "You think you can beat us? I already got three badges thanks to these guys, Davis."
"That's fine because I have the same amount." Davis said.
"Oh boy. I think I see where this is going." Tetsu said.
"What do you say we have a battle. Then, you can see just how tough my team really is." Nathan said.
"I never back down from a battle." Davis said as he was ready to go.
"In that case, what would you say to a rotation battle?" Nathan said.
"A rotation battle? What's that?" Davis questioned as he never heard of it before.
"It's when we battle using three pokemon, but only one at a time." Nathan said, but Davis wasn't getting it. "I'll show you once we get a battlefield." Davis wasn't sure what kind of battle this is, but he isn't going to back down from a battle.
...
A Battlefield
They all moved to a battlefield that was placed near a park-like area of the amusement park with everyone watching. The two of them stood facing each with Nathan having Grotle, Monferno, and Prinplup out with Grotle up front. The three pokemon Davis was using were Imperialdramon, Poochyena, and Shellder with Poochyena up front.
"Cletus, have you ever heard of a rotation battle?" Tetsu questioned.
"Yeah, but I've never seen it." Cletus said.
"So, how is Davis going to battle if he doesn't know what kind of battle this is?" Tetsu questioned.
"Okay, in a rotation battle, we battle using three pokemon." Nathan explained. "However, we can only attack using one pokemon. We can rotate our pokemon at any point during the battle. The battle will be over when all three pokemon can't battle."
"I don't get how this rotation battle works, but I'm going for it." Davis said.
"Then what are you waiting for?" Nathan said. "Let's get this started! Grotle, let's start this with Razor Leaf!" Grotle started the battle as it launched razor-sharp leaves at Poochyena.
"Dodge it and use Fire Fang!" Davis ordered. Poochyena moved its way around the leaves and moved closer to Grotle with fire around its teeth. Poochyena jumped right at Grotle and was ready to attack.
"Rock Smash!" Nathan said. Grotle's body glowed and smashed against Poochyena with a lot of damage being dealt. "Rotate left!" His pokemon changed positions with Monferno taking the lead. "Monferno, Mach Punch!" Monferno moved with incredible speed and smashed its fist right against Poochyena. With two attacks like that, Poochyena was knocked out.
"That was incredibly fast!" Tetsu said.
"I think I get it now." Cletus said as he already figured it out. "Rotating is the same as switching your pokemon, but it's faster and that means you can act sooner."
"This might be tougher than I thought, but that's not stopping me." Davis said.
"My turn!" Imperialdramon said as he stepped out.
"Go and use Brick Break!" Davis ordered.
"Dodge it!" Nathan ordered. Imperialdramon tried attacking Monferno, but Monferno moved out of the way in time.
"That Monferno is fast!" Davis said.
"Now use Fire Punch!" Nathan said. Monferno had fire form around its fist and smashed it against Imperialdramon. "Rotate right!" His pokemon rotated again with Grotle back in the battle. "Grotle, Leech Seed!" Grotle launched a seed right on Imperialdramon. When it planted on him, small vines wrapped around him and he could feel his energy being drained out of him. This wasn't looking good for Davis. "Rotate right!" His pokemon rotated again with Prinplup taking its turn. "Prinplup, Water Pulse!" Prinplup launched a blast of water and Imperialdramon got hit by the attack.
"This isn't looking good." Cletus said.
"Nathan keeps switching his pokemon around and attacks then next moment." Tetsu said. "He's timing this all pretty well."
"It doesn't matter! Imperialdramon, Dragon Pulse!" Davis said. Imperialdramon fought through and unleashed the attack and blasted Prinplup, but Prinplup endured the attack.
"Metal Claw!" Nathan ordered. Prinplup pushed the attack away and went at Imperialdramon with Prinplup slashing its wings against him. That Leech Seed was draining more and more of Imperialdramon's power. Davis didn't like this.
"Imperialdramon, switch with Shellder! With that Leech Seed, you can't keep going." Davis said. Both of his pokemon switched positions, but Leech Seed continued to drain Imperialdramon of his power. "Shellder, Ice Shard!" Shellder formed a shard of ice and tossed it at Prinplup.
"Prinplup, Pluck!" Nathan ordered. Prinplup's beak glowed and grew with it smashing right through the ice.
"Iron Defense!" Davis said. Shellder duck inside its shell as Prinplup plucked away at Shellder's shell.
"Rotate left!" Nathan called with Grotle taking the lead again. "Razor Leaf!" Grotle unleashed the attack. Shellder braced itself as the leaves slashed against it, but Shellder was still taking a lot of damage from those attacks.
"Hang in there! Shellder, Ice Beam!" Davis ordered. Shellder launched the beam and it blasted against Grotle, but Grotle was able to endure against it.
"Razor Leaf again!" Nathan ordered. Grotle unleashed the leaves again with Shellder getting hit by those attacks and Shellder was knocked out from it.
"Now Shellder has been taken out." Cletus said as this wasn't looking good for Davis.
"It's three against one and Imperialdramon is still feeling the effects of Leech Seed. I hate to say it, but this battle is almost over." Tetsu said. Imperialdramon stood alone with his power being drained more and more.
"Rotate left. Monferno, let's end this." Nathan said as the two of them switched and was set to end this. "Monferno, Mach Punch!" Monferno went at Imperialdramon at great speed and smashed its fist against Imperialdramon, but he blocked it. If he's going down, he's going down fighting.
"Now use Brick Break!" Davis ordered. Imperialdramon attacked and smashed his arm against Monferno. "Now use Focus Punch!" Imperialdramon gathered whatever power he could and tried attacking Monferno again with Monferno taking some damage.
"Impressive that you still have that kind of power, but it's time we turn up the heat. Sunny Day!" Nathan ordered. Monferno unleashed energy into the sky and increased the power of the sunlight. "That increased our fire-type power while Leech Seed drains your power. This is the end, Fire Punch!"
"We're going down with a fight! Focus Punch!" Davis called. The two pokemon used their attacks and went right at each other. The two of them collided against each other with a fierce explosion going off and brining this rotating battle to an end.

Later
"Oh man! I can't believe I lost!" Davis complained. Since the battle was over, they all jumped on the Ferris Wheel to get a good sight of the fireworks that are suppose to go off.
"So you keep complaining. Get over it." Tetsu claimed.
"It was still a great battle, Davis. You just need more practice with rotation battles." Nathan said. "Anyway, you might have a chance to get even with me in the Centros League."
"True... IT was still a lot of fun." Davis said as he still had some enjoyment in the battle.
"Here it comes!" Cletus said as the show was beginning. They all looked out and saw fireworks being released into the sky and it was an amazing display. It ended up being a great day in the end.
Davis gains himself a new rival while having a fun day at the amusement park. Being introduced a new style of battling, Davis can't wait for the next time he gets to battle Nathan. There's more interesting battles to come...as the journey continues.
