Davis has managed to win his sixth badge. With that, he's now just two badges away from entering the Centros League. At the moment, he and his friends are on the outskirts of Texstar City and was doing some training.

"Mightyena, Fire Fang! Galvantula, Poison Jab!" Davis said as his pokemon were sparing against each other. Mightyena jumped at Galvantual with Galvantual ready for the attack. The two crashed into each other with them trying to push the other back. Both were blown back, but still standing.

"Where does he get the energy?" Tetsu questioned as he and Cletus were getting ready for lunch. "He just got done with another intense gym battle. Can't he just take it easy."

"I'm not sure that Davis understands the meaning of taking it easy." Cletus said.

"Come on, Davis. Let me do some training." Imperialdramon said as he was ready to go, but he stopped as he sensed something. He looked off to the distance and could see some clouds coming in. "What is this? He could sense something out there and it was something not good.

(Davis' voice) Fight for Love

Imperialdramon just stood there as he could feel something. Mightyena and Galvantula took a moment and they could sense something themselves, but Davis and the others didn't get what was going on.

"Hey. What's with you? I thought you wanted to train." Davis said.

"Is something wrong?" Cletus asked.

"Uh... No..." Imperialdramon claimed, but he wasn't really sure what it was he was feeling himself.

"What was that about?" Cletus questioned.

"Hey. Check out those clouds over there." Tetsu said as he noticed them. "It looks like we might be getting some nasty weather." It looked like they might have to take some precautions about that, but there was no time. All of them heard some sort of engine as they saw someone riding on a dirt bike. It pulled right over near them with a woman riding on it. She had long blonde hair tied back with her having camouflaged shorts and top. She climbed off and looked serious.

"Which one of you is Davis Motomiya?" The woman asked.

"That would be me." Davis said as he stepped forward.

"So, you think you can come to town, beat Steel, and then just take off?" The lady said.

"Steel?" Davis questioned.

"What are you talking about? You mean Lieutenant Steel?" Tetsu said. "He's a gym leader and accepted Davis' challenge."

"Maybe, but I don't like it when Steel loses." The lady said. "He might be a gym leader, but no one beats him on my watch."

"Say what? Who are you anyway?" Davis said.

"My name is Frankie, and I just happen to be Steel's girlfriend." She claimed with pride.

"His girlfriend?" Davis said as they thought that was weird. Steel never mentioned her earlier.

"That's right, and I don't let anyone mess with my man." Frankie said. "I want to see if you really earned his badge or if it was just by luck. I heard you used cheap tricks or cheap shots to win."

"What?! You got a big mouth, lady! I won his badge with my skill! There's no question about it! No cheap shots, tricks, or luck!" Davis claimed.

"Really?" Tetsu questioned as he wasn't so sure about that. "If Escavalier's lances didn't break when they did, Mawile could have been in real trouble."

"Whose side are you on?!" Davis complained. "You came out here to battle me, right? You want to see if I really beat Steel with skill? Bring it on then!"

"That's what I like to hear. Let's see how tough you really are." Frankie said. "Falinks, let's take it to these guys!"

"Falinks!"

"What the heck?" Davis said as he's never seen a pokemon like that before. He took out his pokedex to learn more about it.

"Falinks, the Formation Pokemon. A fighting-type. The one upfront is the brass while the rest are the troopers. Teamwork and formation is how they battle with the brass making all the calls."

"Unreal. There's six of them, but they all count as just one pokemon." Davis said. "I doubt that one is every lonely. Imperialdramon, how about you take this new pokemon."

"You got it." Imperialdramon said as he stepped forward while Davis brought his other pokemon back. The two of them stood facing each other as the wind picked up like it was a real showdown.

"Let's just see what this pokemon can do! Focus Punch!" Davis said as he started this battle. Imperialdramon gathered energy in his fist and went straight for the attack.

"Protect!" Frankie called.

"Falinks!" Falinks took a formation with a barrier coming up and blocked the attack.

"Now use Headbutt!" Frankie called. The brass and the troops moved one by one as they smashed against Imperialdramon.

"Why you little..." Imperialdramon complained as he tried grabbing it, but the six of them kept moving around and was making it difficult. "How do you battle a pokemon like this?"

"Now use Close Combat!" Frankie ordered. Falinks attacked more as each of them surrounded Imperialdramon and then smashed against him like it was some sort of pinball game. "Ha! I guess it really was just luck that you beat my man."

"Now I'm getting annoyed." Davis complained. Imperialdramon was pushed back, but he was still going strong.

"Now use Focus Energy and then go into Headbutt!" Frankie said. Falinks gathered its power and then went on the attack. The six of them charged straight at Imperialdramon.

"There! Hit them all back with Focus Punch!" Davis said. Imperialdramon went through with the attack as he smacked each of the the Falinks away and finally did some damage. He knocked each of them away like they were a baseball. "Yeah. Now we're really getting our groove into this battle."

"Now we can..." Imperialdramon was ready to get back in the battle, but he stopped as he looked at the clouds again and saw them starting to hover right over them. Whatever he was feeling was much stronger than it was earlier.

"Imperialdramon? What are you doing? Don't stare off into space now!" Davis called.

"Davis... I sense something. Something...bad." Imperialdramon said.

"Something bad?" Davis questioned as he didn't like the sound of that. Suddnely, he noticed the wind was still blowing and getting stronger. "What is with this wind? It's getting a little crazy."

"Hey! Stay focus on the battle!" Frankie said.

"Hold up!" Cletus called as he and Tetsu didn't like how this was going either. "Something doesn't seem right."

"You're just saying that because I'm about to win." Frankie said as she was willing to keep battling. "Go, Falinks!" She ordered, but she noticed Falinks wasn't really doing anything either. It seemed Falinks sensed the same thing. "What's going on?"

"Davis!" All of them heard someone call and saw Lieutenant Steel running straight to them with Frankie getting a little nervous. "There you are! I found you just in time! Nurse Joy told me I would find you out here." It was then he noticed Frankie. "Frankie? What are you doing out here?"

"Well... I..." Frankie didn't seem to know how to answer that.

"Steel? What's going on?" Davis said.

"The whole city just received a report. There's a tornado heading this way." Steel said with all of them getting scared.

"A tornado?! A real tornado?!" Davis said as that wasn't good at all.

"That's what I was sensing earlier!" Imperialdramon said.

"Of course!" Cletus said. "That's why Imperialdramon and the other pokemon acted so strange. Pokemon are more in tuned with nature than humans are. They must have felt the tornado coming before we did."

"We need to take shelter." Tetsu said.

"There's no time to go back to town to find shelter. Everyone is already boarding up and taking cover, but I know a place we can hideout in." Steel said. It was a good thing he showed up when he did. With the threat of a tornado coming, everyone was moving fast to find a safe place to hide in. There really was a tornado coming and they all hide to get to safety. Many pokemon took cover underground and such. Davis and the others tried their best to follow Steel, but the wind was blowing against them rather hard.

"This wind is insane!" Tetsu called.

"Try to stay together! It's just up ahead!" Steel said.

"But this wind is fierce." Cletus said. This wind could be a problem until Davis got an idea.

"I know! What if we got in a formation like Frankie's Falinks!" Davis said. "If we walk like that, it just might cut the wind pushing against us!"

"That's not really a bad idea, but Imperialdramon will have to be up front since he's the largest!" Cletus said. "Less wind will blow against us."

"Good thinking, but let's hold hands so we all stay together." Steel said. All of them got into position and were holding hands, but there's a problem. Frankie seemed rather nervous to hold Franky's hand. She wants to, but is scared. "Frankie, what are you waiting for?"

"Come on. Just hold his hand." Davis said.

"You are his girlfriend." Tetsu said.

"Girlfriend? What?" Steel questioned as he didn't get it.

"Well... Maybe one day!" Frankie said as it seems she was lying earlier and was now all kinds of embarrassed. Steel wanted to know more, but he looked at the clouds and could tell the tornado was going to get closer.

"We'll talk about this later, but we need to get out of here now." Steel said as he just grabbed Frankie's hand with her blushing. "Get going. It's just straight ahead."

"Right." Imperialdramon said as they got going now. They were all finally able to take shelter as they ducked inside a cave and were safe now. They even had a fire going to keep themselves warm.

"Are we really safe in here?" Tetsu asked.

"As long as we stay away from the entrance, we should be fine. We just need to wait for the storm to pass." Steel said. He looked back and saw Franky was sitting all by herself. "Franky, come over here."

"No thanks. I'm fine here." Frankie said as she acted rather shy.

"I think she's embarrassed." Davis said.

"Well, she just admit that she was lying about being Steel's girlfriend." Tetsu said.

"I'm sorry about any trouble she might have caused." Steel said. "Frankie is a good person, but she can be rather eccentric."

"But maybe that's the reason why." Cletus said. "It's obvious she's into you. She might act that way to maybe try to impress you or something."

"Tetsu's got a point." Davis said. "I've got a girlfriend. Her name is Kari. I would have done anything for her, even if some of the things I did were something she didn't agree with. The reason she was even trying to battle me was for your sake, in her own twisted way. She's clearly willing to fight for you. I know that's like because I would do the same for my girl."

"Girlfriend... Right. You really have one of those." Tetsu claimed as he was being a little skeptical.

"Hey! Say that like you mean it!" Davis complained, it was certainly something for Steel to think about. He looked back at Frankie and was rather concerned. Frankie was rather embarrassed to sit over there with them, but she was freezing. Suddenly, she felt someone place their jacket over her and saw it was Steel.

"Come on. It's better by the fire than over here." Steel said as he helped her up and took her over to the fire. It certainly did feel better there than it did away from the fire. She still seemed rather nervous being around Steel. "Frankie, it's okay."

"It is?" Frankie questioned. Steel put his hand on her shoulder and tried to make her feel comfort.

"There's no reason to be shy or embarrassed. You're surrounded by friends." Steel said. Despite how she wants to be more, she did feel a little more at ease.

"Wow, Steel... You surely know how to handle any situation." Frankie said as that was one of the things she liked about him.

"Well, I train myself and my pokemon to try and handle situations." Steel said. "That's how I knew to take cover in this cave during that storm." It was a good thing he did or else they all would have been in real trouble. Frankie and the others were glad to have Steel help them.

...

Later

All of them waited it out in the cave until the storm finally passed. When they could finally see some sunlight, they all came out of the cave and felt safe again.

"It's over." Tetsu said.

"It really was safe. Steel, thank you so much for coming to help us." Cletus said.

"My pleasure." Steel said. Frankie was the last one to come out, but was still being a little bashful. Steel saw that and held out his hand for her. "Come on, Frankie. I told you that it's all okay." Frankie took some real comfort as she took his hand and climbed out.

"Look at that." Imperialdramon said as they could see the moment between them and couldn't stop snickering.

"Hey..." Frankie said as she came over to them. "Sorry about earlier, Davis. If Steel came all this way to help you, you guys must be alright."

"It's all fine." Davis said as they were putting the whole thing under the bridge.

"Of course, I guess you and I will have to work on that little attitude of yours." Steel said as he was implying it would be the two of them working together. It certainly sounded great to Frankie. "By the way, Davis. Have you thought about where you're going for your next gym battle?"

"Not yet." Davis said.

"Well, I think you should try the gym in Newmex City." Steel suggested. "Not only is it the closest gym from here, but the gym leader there is also an interesting guy. I think you might like it there."

"Newmex City... Sounds great!" Davis said as he now has the location for his seventh badge.

Although the beginning was a little stormy, Davis and the others are safe thanks to Steel. Also goes to show you that even when things seem bad, some sunlight can shine right through. Now, with Newmex City as their next destination, our heroes continue on with their journey.
