Our heroes are continuing on with their journey with them heading towards Newmex City for Davis' seventh badge. The destination is getting closer and closer at hand.

"We're almost to Nexmex City." Cletus said as he looked over a map while they were walking. "Look there." He said as he pointed up to a montain. "If we can get over that mountain, we'll be at Newmex City."

"Awesome. My seventh gym is almost in reach. Let's go!" Davis said as he ran on ahead.

"Davis! Hold up! Don't go running off on your own!" Tetsu called, but Davis was too excited about his upcoming gym battle. Davis ran straight for the mountain, but at the last second, someone stepped in his way and he had to put on the brakes.

"Are you okay?" Davis looked up and saw it was a woman with wavy blonde hair and was dressed like she was going on a hike.

"Yeah. Sorry about that. I didn't see you until you pulled up in front of me." Davis said.

"I told you not to run off." Tetsu said as the others caught up with him.

"You really should be careful and learn to control that energy of yours." Cletus said.

"Are you boys heading up to that mountain?" The lady asked.

"Yeah. Are you heading up there too?" Davis asked.

"I am. There's something up there I'm looking for." The lady said. "If I were you, I be careful. I heard that there's something strange up that mountain. Scary forces are said to live somewhere on that mountain." Scary forces? Is she saying there're ghosts somewhere on that mountain? That can't be true, but weirder things have happened lately.

(Davis' voice) The Cursed Cabin

Despite the warning, they all went up the mountain so they could get to Newmex City. Still, the warning that lady gave them was on Imperialdramon's mind.

"You guys think what that lady says is true? Do you think there really is something scary up here?" Imperialdramon said.

"Don't tell me the big guy is actually scared." Tetsu teased. "I'm sure there's really nothing up here. That lady warned us and even she came up this mountain."

"Yeah. There's nothing to worry about up here." Davis said as they all thought it was safe.

"Hold on. There might be something." Cletus said and pointed up to the sky. They all looked up and saw some clouds rolling over. "It looks like it's going to rain soon. We've got to find a place to take cover." All of them got moving and hurried to find some shelter from the coming rain. "Anyone see anything?"

"Not yet. There's got to be something." Tetsu said.

"Hold on. I think there's a cabin just up ahead." Davis said. They all looked through the trees and spotted the cabin that Davis was talking about.

"Are you sure it will be okay?" Imperialdramon said as they didn't want to trespass, but it would seem that they have no choice. The rain started to come straight down and they had to take cover. They ran straight to the cabin and the door was luckily unlocked. They all went inside and were able to take cover from the rain.

"Hello! Is anyone here?!" Cletus called. "We only want to take cover from the rain!" He called for someone, but it didn't seem like anyone was home. "That's weird. The door was unlocked, but it seems like no one is here."

"That's weird, but it looks like no one has been here in years." Tetsu said as he looked around and didn't find all that much in the cabin.

"Guys, it's coming down hard out there." Davis said. "It doesn't look like it's going to light up any time soon, so it looks like we're stuck here."

"By the time it does clear, it might already be dark. It looks like we might have to spend the night here." Imperialdramon said.

"Time out for a second. You're saying we have to spend the night here?" Tetsu said as he didn't like it. "I don't know about that. This place is a little creepy."

"We might not have a choice." Cletus said.

"Ha. You're scared to sleep here? It doesn't look that bad. The place is just old." Davis said.

"I'm not scared!" Tetsu denied.

"Either way, we don't have much of a choice. Hiking over a mountain in the rain or at night can be dangerous." Cletus pointed out. It looks like they really are stuck in that cabin. "Let's have a look around to see if there's any clean water we can use." All of them had a look around the cabin to see if they could find anything. Davis went walking into what appeared to be a bedroom. He looked around for anything they might use, but he felt like someone was staring at him.

"Guys? That you?" Davis said, but he felt like it wasn't them. He turned around and saw a grinning smile. "Whoa!" He called as he fell and landed on the bed. He pulled himself together and saw that it appeared to be just a doll.

"Davis! Are you okay?" Tetsu asked as the others came in.

"Yeah. I just got spooked by that thing." Davis said as he pointed to the doll on a shelf. "At first it was spooky, but it actually looks cool."

"That thing looks cool to you?" Tetsu questioned as he thought it was just creepy.

"It looks like a Banette doll." Cletus said.

"Banette?" Davis questioned and pulled out his pokedex to learn more about it.

"Banette, the Marionette Pokemon. A ghost-type and the evolve form of Shuppet. It is said that strong feelings of hatred gathered in a doll and that is what helped give form to this pokemon."

"You know, that pokemon doesn't look all that bad." Davis said as he grabbed the doll and took a liking to it.

"Speak for yourself." Tetsu said as he didn't like it. "Put that thing away. Who knows how old that thing even is."

"Hey. Look what was under that doll." Imperialdramon said as he found a photo. It looked like a married couple with a little girl. "You think these people lived here?"

"Maybe... Take look at that girl." Cletus said as they saw the girl holding the doll. Cletus took a look at the back and saw a name written poorly. "I think the name is...Bridget. At least, I think that's what the name is. It's a little hard to read."

"Look, can you just put that thing away. What does it matter? It looks like it was years ago." Tetsu said as he wasn't interested in any of this at all.

"Someone is scared." Davis teased.

"Shut up. You're not keeping that thing either." Tetsu said as he cleared the room. Davis just laughed as he put the doll on the bed. They all just went on and was going to settle for the night here, but none of them knew was that there really was something amiss.

...

That Night

Since it's night now and the rain hasn't stopped, they had no choice. They had to stay in the cabin until it's clear enough for them to leave. Since they were stuck in that cabin, they were settling in for the night with Cletus making some dinner.

"Good thing the gas and the water still works." Cletus said as that was good. "I wonder how long it's been since anyone has been here." When he really start thinking about it, he didn't know what to think of the place. "Come to think of it, why is this all in good condition if no one has been here?" Cletus began thinking there was something off about the place. As he kept working on dinner, he didn't notice that there was something in the kitchen with them.

"Cletus! Is dinner almost done?" Davis asked from the other room.

"Be patient!" Cletus called. Then, he felt something tap his shoulder. "Huh?" He turned, but no one was there. Then, he started to hear noises like someone else was in the kitchen. He kept looking around, but saw nothing. "Guys? Is that you?" Cletus felt like there was something there, but he didn't see anything. Then, he heard the backdoor open up with a chill blowing against him. He moved carefully to see if there was something there. He carefully grabbed the door and then gain the courage to yank it open. He didn't see anything out there and could only hear rain. When he saw nothing, he just closed the door. When he turned around, he got spooked and saw the doll sitting on the counter.

"Cletus, are you okay in there?" Tetsu asked as he and Davis came in.

"Very funny." Cletus said with annoyance. "Don't try to scare me while I'm making dinner." He said as he grabbed the doll.

"I thought I left that thing on the bed." Davis said as he found that weird.

"Just don't bother me while I'm making dinner." Cletus said as he handed it back to Davis.

"I swear I didn't put it in there." Davis said. Tetsu didn't either. "Imperialdramon!" He called as he came back. "Did you leave this in the kitchen?"

"I didn't touch it." Imperialdramon said.

"Weird." Davis said as he looked right at the doll, but brushed the whole thing off and placed the doll back in the bedroom. That whole thing with the kitchen was weird, but they put the whole thing behind them and just get themselves settled for the night.

"Okay. I'm going to hit the bathroom then get ready for bed." Tetsu said. "Hopefully, it's decent enough to be used and not like a gas station." Tetsu went on ahead and went in the bathroom while the others were getting in their sleeping bags to sleep. It seemed the bathroom was okay enough. He turned on the faucet and splashed some water on his face. He looked right in the mirror and was beginning to relax, but that was when he noticed something in the mirror. He quickly turned around and saw the doll was sitting right on the toilet. "How did that thing get in here?"

"...ett... ...ett..." He could hear some sort of whisper in the air and he really didn't like this.

"Davis? Not funny." Tetsu said as he thought this was some sort of joke. Just then, he saw something shining behind. He turned around and saw a floating blue flame. "Is that what I think it is?" Then, another one appeared. Then, another. Another... Another... More and more of them keep popping up. Then, they started flying around him like a swarm of insects. Tetsu couldn't hold back his scream as he hurried out of the bathroom and smashed into the wall with him dropping to the floor.

"Tetsu?!" Davis called with the flames disappearing right when they showed up.

"What's wrong?" Imperialdramon questioned. Tetsu didn't know what to think. He just grabbed the doll out of there and threw it on the couch.

"There is something up with that doll!" Tetsu said. "Something weird is going on in here and that doll has something to do with it! In there, that doll just showed up out of nowhere. When that happened, these blue flames were floating around my head. It was one of those wisp things that ghosts use."

"Come on. It's just a doll." Davis said.

"An evil doll!" Tetsu called.

"You're just being a little edgy because you think this place is creepy." Davis said as he walked over to the doll and sat in front of it. "Nothing weird is going on, and it's just a doll." Davis was sure there was nothing going on with this cabin.

"Banette!" Suddenly, the Banette doll moved and grabbed Davis arm. It gave Davis a real scare and they saw the doll moving.

"That's no doll! It's a real Banette!" Cletus called as they all couldn't believe it. Banette then used its powers as it used Psychic to lift all the furniture around. Then, it used Will-O-Wisp and unleashed the blue flames at all of them.

"Imperialdramon! Get that Banette!" Davis said. Imperialdramon leaped at Banette, but Banette passed right through him.

"Yikes! That was creepy!" Imperialdramon claimed.

"Banette!" Banette unleashed its fury as everything went at all of them.

"What is with this Banette?" Davis questioned as they tried shielding themselves.

"Outside!" Cletus said. All of them hurried outside for safety. Thankfully, it stopped raining. All of them stood out there, but Banette chased after them as it wasn't done with them.

"Tetsu, maybe you should apologize. You clearly didn't like Banette when we thought it was just a doll." Imperialdramon suggested.

"Uh... Sorry..." Tetsu gave it a try, but that didn't stop Banette as it unleashed more its power. "Imperialdramon, you can understand it. Don't you have anything?"

"All it keeps saying is that it wants us to leave." Imperialdramon said.

"Why is it angry?!" Davis questioned.

"I'm not sure... Maybe..." Cletus tried to think of an answer, but then he thought about the picture earlier. "I wonder if it has something to do with the family we saw in the photo." Banette was ready to unleash more of it's fury on them.

"Banette!" They heard someone calling out for Banette. They all looked and saw the woman Davis nearly ran into earlier. "I finally found you."

"Banette?"

"Don't you remember me, Banette? It's me: Bridget."

"Banette!" Banette was quite shocked to hear that it was her. It got Banette to stop attacking and everything settled down.

"She's Bridget?" Tetsu questioned.

"She must be the little girl from the photo." Cletus said with Banette not sure what to think.

"I'm sorry, Banette." Bridget said as she got closer. "You must have been so scared and lonely being here by yourself."

"I'm sorry, but could you please tell us what is going on." Davis said.

"It all happened about twenty years ago." Bridget said as she shared her story. "This cabin belonged to my parents when I was a kid. We came here every Summer." Bridget remembered her time in that cabin from when she was younger. "One day, Banette came wondering in. Being a kid, I liked Banette instantly and my parents didn't mind that Banette was around since I was happy." The times Banette had with Bridget when she was younger were some of its great times. The two of them had a lot of fun together and they clearly loved each other.

"So what happened?" Cletus asked.

"Well, my family left and we didn't take Banette with us." Bridget said. "I wanted Banette to come, but my parents thought I wasn't ready for the full responsibility of being a trainer. They said that since Banette was a wild pokemon, it was better off here instead of the city. I told Banette I would come back one day, but I guess that took a lot longer than I thought. My parents ended up getting divorced. Since that happened, we stopped coming to this cabin."

"So, Banette must have been waiting for Bridget to return all this time." Tetsu said.

"The strange forces she told us about must have been Banette and this cabin. It must have been scaring people away because it believed this cabin still belonged to her family." Cletus said. It looks like they all hit the nail on the head.

"Banette, I'm so sorry you've been waiting for all this time. I've been wanting to come back and get you, but it took me longer than I thought." Bridget said. "I'm here now. We can be together again."

"Ba... Banette!" Banette cried as it ran straight to Bridget and Bridget held it in its arms. Banette was waiting in solitude for so long for Bridge to come back, and now the time has come for the two to be together again.

"Aw... That's nice." Imperialdramon said.

"Well, we're sorry we were trespassing, Banette." Cletus said. "We weren't aware of any of this. We were only trying to take shelter from the rain."

"Still, you're now back with your old friend. You're really a cool pokemon." Davis said as he really liked that pokemon. Banette sure looked happy itself.

"I'm just glad it's all done." Tetsu said.

"Sure. Now you don't need to be so scared." Davis teased some more.

"I was not scared." Tetsu said.

"That's why you were screaming and shouting earlier." Imperialdramon said.

"I was not!" Tetsu denied.

"Tetsu! There's another floating blue flame over you!" Davis called and that caused Tetsu to scream and run around.

"No! Get it away! Get it away!" Tetsu shouted as he ran around. Davis and the others couldn't help but laugh with how Tetsu was acting.

It seems that some ghost stories do have happy endings. Banette has been alone for so long, but it's now back with its friend. Our heroes might have gotten a little scared, but it looks like it all turned out for the better. Hopefully getting a good night's rest now, they'll be able to reach Newmex City for Davis' next gym battle.
