Upon meeting Keen, Davis finds himself a new rival for the Centros League. Taking an interest, our heroes follow Keen to Wyom City to see if Keen can earn that eighth badge of his and see what Keen can really do.

"You guys don't have to come with me to Wyom City." Keen said.

"Yeah, but we want to. I have a feeling this could be interesting." Davis said as they all made their way to Wyom City.

"Is that why we're doing this?" Tetsu questioned.

"It probably will be. Davis would like to see what Keen can do, and those Z-Crystals in action." Cletus said. "There's something about Keen that caught Davis' interest. It's only natural he would want to see what he can do."

"Well, you guys are going to see me win that badge." Keen said as they were all a little pumped for this.

A new adventure, another day

One more challenge that comes our way

"So, do you guys even know what kind of gym the Wyom Gym is?" Keen asked.

"I'm not really sure about the gym leader, but I believe that this gym's specialty is with dark-type pokemon." Cletus claimed.

"A dark-type gym? I don't think I've seen one of those." Davis said as he likes the sound of that.

"Dark-types... Well, I think I know who I might be using in this battle." Keen said as he was looking forward to it. "Wait until you guys see my pokemon in action."

"Can't wait." Davis said as he was looking forward to this.

"Hey! Look just up ahead!" Imperialdramon said as they all looked ahead and could see Wyom City was right there. That means that Keen's gym battle is coming up really soon. Upon arriving in Wyom City, they all went straight to the gym.

"Here we are. This is the Wyom Gym." Cletus said.

"For a gym that's specialty is with dark-type pokemon, it doesn't really look so bad or creepy as I thought." Tetsu said. That was right when someone came walking out. The one that came out was a man and he was dressed a little similar to a classic vampire, but without the cape.

"Hello? Can I help you?" The man said.

"Are you the gym leader?" Keen said as he ran out on the field. "My name is Keen and I came here to challenge your gym to get my eighth and final badge."

"I see... Another challenger. Yes, I am the gym leader. My name is Callen. I be glad to take your challenge, but you'll have to give me a moment to make sure all my pokemon are up for a battle. It should only take a moment."

"Yeah. That sounds fine with me." Keen said.

"What about the rest of you?" Callen asked. "Are the rest of you here for a gym battle?"

"I would like that, but I already have all eight of my badges. The rest of us are here just to support our friend." Davis cleared up.

"Very well. Well, make yourselves comfortable. I shouldn't be too long." Callen said as he retreated back to his gym with the others allowed to go inside. Once in there, they had a look around to see a lot of antiques of vases and paintings.

"Look at this place. It's almost like a museum of art and history." Cletus said. "Mr. Callen must be quite the collector. These things appear to be priceless."

"He must have an interest in history and art." Keen said. "Cool! Here's one of Alola!" He spotted the painting and Davis saw it too. He noticed some pokemon in the painting, but they looked different than the ones he remembered.

"Hang on. I think the color is off on some of these pokemon." Davis said.

"Nope. That color is right." Keen claimed, but Davis didn't quite get it. He will soon enough.

"Keen!" Callen called as he stepped forward. "I'm ready to go if you are. The battlefield is just outback."

"Great." Keen said as he was liking he was going to get his eighth badge. They all walked out on the battlefield with it being outside and surrounded by water.

"Kind of sunny for a dark-type gym." Tetsu said.

"Perhaps, but it's a beautiful sight when it becomes night. Much more fitting for my pokemon. Still, timing of the battle doesn't matter." Callen said. "Shall we begin, Keen?" Keen was looking forward to this. The two of them went out on the field and stood facing each other with Davis and the others watching.

"This is going to be cool. I can't wait to see what kind of pokemon Keen uses." Davis said as he was excited. "I just can't shake this feeling we're going to see something cool."

"I guess we'll find out soon enough." Imperialdramon claimed.

"The gym battle between Callen, the gym leader, and Keen, the challenger will now begin!" The referee called. "The battle will be two-on two! The battle will be over when both of one side's pokemon are unable to battle! During the battle, only the challenger is allowed to substitute pokemon! You may begin!"

"Let's begin, Keen. I choose Weavile!" Callen called.

"Weavile!"

"Cool! It's a Weavile!" Tetsu said as Davis pulled out his pokedex.

"Weavile, the Sharp Claw Pokemon. An ice and dark-type, and the evolve form of Sneasel. By using teamwork, Weavile are capable of bringing down larger pokemon like a Mammoswine."

"Since he's using dark-type pokemon, I know who I'm using. Zorua, just sit back and watch." Keen said as Zorua was sitting this battle out. "Vikavolt, let's go!"

"Vikavolt!"

"Who's that pokemon?!" Tetsu said.

"He said it's called a Vikavolt." Cletus said.

"Vikavolt?" Davis questioned as he aimed his pokedex at Keen's pokemon.

"Vikavolt, the Stag Beetle Pokemon. An electric and bug-type, and the evolve form of Charjabug. By storing power in its abdomen and releasing it through it's jaws, Vikavolt can fire powerful beams of electricity."

"So it's a bug-type as well as a electric-type?! It's just like my Galvantula!" Davis said.

"A bug-type would have the advantage over dark-types." Cletus said as it looks like this was what Keen meant earlier.

"Well, I think it's time we begin this battle. Weavile, Ice Beam!" Callen ordered.

"Weavile!" Weavile started this battle as it fired a beam of ice, but Vikavolt kept flying around and avoided each shot thrown at it.

"Vikavolt, X-Scissor!" Keen ordered. Vikavolt flew fast at Weavile and used its jaws to slash at Weavile with a lot of damage being dealt. Vikavolt was able to knock Weavile down, but Weavile was trying to get back up. "Finish this with Charge Beam!"

"Vikavolt!" Vikavolt stored up power and fired a powerful beam of electricity just like the pokedex said. The beam blasted against Weavile and did some real damage, so much that Weavile was already defeated.

"Weavile is unable to battle! Vikavolt wins!"

"Wow. He took Weavile down like it was nothing." Tetsu said as he was a little impressed. "That Vikavolt has some power to it."

"And if he wins his second battle that easily, that badge is his." Imperialdramon said.

"Weavile, return. It was a good effort." Callen said as he brought Weavile back. "I wasn't expecting you to bring down my first pokemon so easily, but I'm afraid my next pokemon won't be that easy to beat. Come out, Honchkrow!" He called as he brought out his second pokemon.

"Honchkrow!"

"A Honchkrow?!" Davis said as he used his pokedex again.

"Honchkrow, the Big Boss Pokemon. A dark and flying-type, and the evolve form of Murkrow. Honchkrow can command a flock of Murkrow which can cause a curtain of darkness to form in the sky."

"A flying-type gives it an edge of a fighting-type and a bug-type. This could be a problem." Cletus said.

"We'll take that pokemon down in one strike! Vikavolt, Charge Beam!" Keen ordered.

"It won't work! Honchkrow, conceal yourself with Haze!" Callen ordered. Honchkrow formed a dark cloud and hid itself. With Honchkrow hiding in there, Vikavolt doesn't know where to aim.

"Where is it?" Keen said as this wasn't looking good.

"Now use Sky Attack!" Callen called. Honchrkow surrounded itself in an intense aura and flew straight at Vikavolt. It smashed right into Vikavolt and did some serious damage that Vikavolt was taken out in one strike.

"Vikavolt is unable to battle! Honchkrow is the winner!" The ref declared.

"No way! In one hit like that?!" Keen said as he and Zoura were shocked by that.

"You see, my Honchkrow's ability is Super Luck, which makes it more likely for critical damage to be dealt." Callen said.

"Pretty smart. Using Haze to conceal yourself and striking with Sky Attack is qutie effective. Especially when Honchkrow has that ability." Cletus claimed.

"So, what's Keen going to do now?" Tetsu questioned.

"He'll find a way to win." Davis said as he was sure of it.

"Vikavolt return." Keen said as he had Vikavolt come back. "In that case, we'll battle dark against dark."

"Does that mean he's going to use Zorua?" Imperialdramon questioned.

"Doesn't look like it." Cletus said as they saw Keen reaching for a different pokeball.

"Here we go! Go, Persian!" Keen called as he chose his next pokemon.

"Persian!" Keen chose his second pokemon, but there was something off about it.

"Hold on! That's a Persian?!" Davis said as he and the others were shocked by the appearance. "I've seen Persian before and they don't look like that! Is that really a Persian?!" He questioned as he used his pokedex to confirm it.

"Persian Alola Form, the Classy Cat Pokemon. A dark-type, and the evolve form of an Alola Meowth. It is claimed that the bigger plumper their faces are, the more beautiful the Persian are."

"You mean Persian and Meowth look different in Alola?!" Tetsu said as none of them have seen anything like this before.

"That must have been what he meant!" Davis said as he remembered what Keen told him about the painting. "Some pokemon in Alola must be different than they are here."

"That's right." Keen claimed. "In Alola, some pokemon look different than they do in other places because of the climate and they adapted to the climate. Persian is just one example. Persian are usually normal-types, but they're dark-types in Alola."

"Amazing! Regional forms! This is the first time I've seen something like this!" Cletus said as they were all amazed.

"Interesting. I've never battled against a pokemon like this before. Let's see how it does." Callen said as even he was interested. "Use Steel Wing!" Honchkrow readied its attack as it flew straight at Persian.

"Use Fake Out!" Keen called. Persian jumped up and clapped its paws together. It created a soundwave that caused Honchkrow to call the attack off.

"What happened? Why did Honchrkow stop its attack?" Tetsu questioned.

"Fake Out works if its the first attack used. It can cause an opponent to flinch and the attack is stopped." Cletus explained.

"Use Night Slash!" Both trainers said. Both pokemon used the same attack and kept slashing against each other. The damage might have been minimal, but it kept adding up with how they just kept attacking each other.

"Now blast Persian with Power Gem!" Keen called Persian fired a beam from it's gem and blasted Honchkrow with it. "Now use Night Slash again!" Persian charged right at Honchrkrow and slashed against it once again.

"Not a bad combo there. Power Gem is a rock-type move and very effective against flying-types." Cletus claimed.

"Now use Dark Pulse and let's finish this!" Keen called. Persian attacked again by firing a dark beam, but Honchkrow was able to fly up and dodged the attack.

"Let's see how you battle when you can't see. Honchkrow, Haze!" Callen called. Honchkrow formed a dark cloud surrounding Persian with Persian having no idea where to attack.

"Now what are they going to do? As long as Honchkrow is in that cloud, they can't attack. They also don't know where the next attack is going to come from.

"Honchkrow, get ready to use Sky Attack!" Callen called. Honchkrow was charging its attack and they still didn't know where to attack.

"Guess we don't have much of a choice now. Persian, we're doing the big one!" Keen called with Persian getting ready.

"What does that mean?" Tetsu questioned.

"I think we're about to find out. Look!" Davis said as they saw Keen place a Z-Crystal into place and began to unleash the power inside with dark power flowing through him and Persian.

"Now, be swallowed up by the darkness." Keen called as intense power was being unleashed. "Use Blackhole Eclipse!" Persian howled out as the attack was form a dark orb was forming and growing. It was an actual blackhole with how everything was being pulled in. All of them couldn't believe what they were seeing. The cloud was pulled inside and it showed Honchkrow was being pulled in as well.

"Honchkrow, get out of there!" Callen called.

"Too late!" Keen called. Honchkrow tried to resist, but the the gravitational pull was too strong. Honchkrow was pulled inside. When that happened, an explosion went off. All of them tried to resist the force and power that came from the explosion, but it was immense. When it finally settled down, they all could see that Honchkrow was defeated.

"Honchkrow is unable to battle! Persian wins and that means that the challenger is the victor!" The ref declared.

"Oh yeah!" Keen called as he and Zorua ran over to Persian and started petting it. "Nice going out there, Persian."

"That last attack was amazing. Was that really a Z-Move?" Callen questioned.

"Sure was. That was the dark-type Z-Move. Any pokemon can do that as long as they know a dark-type attack." Keen claimed.

"Z-Moves are incredible and powerful!" Tetsu said.

"No wonder they're hard to come by. Just imagine what would happen if everyone could get their hands on one." Cletus said as he thought that kind of power being used all the time by everyone would be intense and maybe a little horrific.

"That was a splendid battle." Callen said as he was handing his badge over to Keen. "Here is proof that you won here. This is the Dusk Badge." He said as the badge was a black circle with a crescent moon around the edge.

"Thanks a lot." Keen said as he gladly took the badge. After seeing that battle, Davis could see that Keen will be a tough rival to beat, but he's looking forward to the battle.

Later

"Well, I have all eight badges now. I'm going to do some training and head over to Yorker City for the Centros League." Keen claimed as he and the others were parting ways.

"Just make sure you don't miss it." Davis teased. "I'm serious, Keen. I want to be able to battle you in the Centros League. Until then, right?" He asked as he held out his hand.

"Until then. I'll see you there." Keen said as the two shook hands promising to battle each other in the Centros League. With that, they all parted ways.

"That battle surely was incredible." Tetsu claimed. "I'm glad we saw it, but why did you want to in the first place, Davis?"

"Call it a feeling I had." Davis claimed. "Something in me knew I had to see that battle, see Keen in action. I can tell Keen's going to be quite the opponent. I don't know if I should be nervous or excited. I'm so looking forward to the Centros League now."

After witnessing a new rival battle, Davis is getting more and more excited for the Centros League. You should be too. It will be a fierce competition that will be coming up soon. You don't want to miss it when the time comes. Stay tuned.
