Our heroes have finally arrived at Yorker City for the Centros League. Davis and all of his rivals have made it and are ready for a battle. Davis soon learns that his first opponent will be Shade.
"Going up against Shade in the first round. This is going to be one tough battle." Davis said.
"Well, I certainly don't plan on going easy on you." Shade said as he stepped forward to Davis. "I'm actually glad I get the chance to battle you, Davis. I almost lost the will to battle until I met you. Let's make this a good one."
"You got it." Davis said as the two of them shook hands to signify their upcoming battle.
A new adventure, another day
One more challenge that comes our way
Its up to me and you
I know what we've got to do
We are together now
Friends forever now
Whatever comes our way, we won't run away
Standing tall
And one for all
It's our destiny
Pokemon
(Davis' voice) Outplay the Analyst
The beginning of the Centros League was scheduled to start the next day. That day has arrived. Battles have already started and it was already exciting. Trainers have been winning one battle after another.
"Welcome back to the beginning of the Centros League. We are starting things out by going through the screening process to cut down on who will make it to the top eight. The first few rounds will be where the battles are completely random. It can be a battle style of any kind. From something small to just one-on-one to just about anything. Trainers have to adapt to the situation and make sure they choose the right pokemon." Battles have gone on of many different kinds that made this more fun and exciting. "We now move on to our next battle where we have Shade going against Davis." The two of them walked out on the battlefield and were ready for this battle.
"Shade vs. Davis... This should be interesting." Cletus said.
"When they battled each other before, thins took a turn against Shade." Tetsu said. "Still, Shade has improved and is a lot smarter than Davis. Do you think Davis will be okay?"
"I guess we'll find out soon enough. It's practically instincts vs. intelligence in this battle." Cletus said.
"We will now see what kind of battle these two young trainers will now be having." Everyone looked to the monitor and saw a spinner go off to determine what kind of battle this is going to be. It soon stopped where it said 3x3. "This battle is going to be a three-on-three battle. Substitution will be allowed with no time limit. The battle will be over when all three of one side's pokemon is unable to battle. Now, I say we get this battle rolling!"
"Get ready, Davis! I'm ready for you this time! Leafeon, you're up!" Shade called as he chose his first pokemon.
"Leafeon!"
"Leafeon... That's one of Eevee's evolve forms. Well, I know who to use here. Pidgeot, let's go!" Davis called.
"Pidgeo!"
"It's Leafon vs. Pidegot in the first round. Davis has the advantage, but will that be enough?"
"Let's get this started. Pidgeot, start out with Quick Attack!" Davis said as he was ready to go. Pidgeot started this battle as it dived straight at Leafon with speed.
"Leafon, Leaf Blade!" Shade said as he used his fancy goggles. "Aim straight for the center!" The leaf on Leafeon's head sharpened and it attacked. The two of them clashed together and the force of the attacks knocked each other back.
"What's with the fancy goggles that Shade guy is wearing?" Keen questioned as the competing trainers watched from a special area in the stadium.
"I heard that Shade's an analyst. Those goggles help him calculate where to attack as well as estimating his opponent's strength and remaining strength." Nathan explained. "He's trying to get a read on Pidgeot so he knows how to counter."
"Leafeon, let's confuse them! Double Team!" Shade said. Leafeon made illusions of itself as those copies were spreading through the field with Pidgeot having know idea where to attack.
"Talk about a green thumb. This field has turned green with Leafeon."
"Let's do a little garden work. Pidgeot, Air Slash right on the ground!" Davis called. Pidgeot did what it said as it used the attack and blasted the center of the battlefield. It picked up some dust and it gave away the real Leafeon's location. "There's the real one! Use Aerial Ace!" Pidgeot dived straight at Leafeon with the attack and smashed right at it with enough power that Leafon was taken out in one hit.
"Leafeon is unable to battle!" The ref called.
"The first win goes to Davis. That might have been an easy win, but I doubt it will be that easy."
"Not bad on finding the original, but don't expect that to work again. Clawlitzer, you're up!" Shade called as he chose his next pokemon.
"Clawlitzer!"
"Shade's second pokemon is Clawitzer. What's going to happen here?"
"Let's even the playing field. Use Aqua Jet!" Shade called. Clawlitzer surrounded itself with water and flew straight at Pidgeot.
"Dodge it! Give them a moving target!" Davis called. Pidgeot moved to the side and avoided Aqua Jet, but Clawlitzer was coming back around.
"Stay on Pidgeot's tail!" Shade ordered. Pidgeot flew around the field to try and get away from Clawlizter, but Clawlitzer was chasing her.
"I've never seen Aqua Jet used like this!"
"I didn't know you could use Aqua Jet like that!" Tetsu said.
"Shade has learned some new tricks!" Cletus said.
"Come on! Shake it off you trail!" Davis called as Pidgeot kept moving around, but Clawlitzer was doing a well job on chasing it.
"It's no good! Pidgeot can't shake it!" Imperialdramon said.
"Use Water Pulse!" Shade said. Clawlitzer stored power for the attack and blasted Pidgeot with it and some massive damage was dealt. "Finish it with Aqua Jet!" Clawlitzer crashed right into Pidgeot and pusher her down to the ground and smashed Pidgeot against the ground. When Clawlitzer moved away, Pidgeot wasn't getting back up.
"Pidgeot is unable to battle!" The ref said.
"It's now tied. Both sides have two pokemon left, but the battle could go either way."
"Pidgeot, return! You did great." Davis said as he brought her back. "Machamp, you're up next!"
"Machamp!"
"Davis now goes with Machamp as his second pokemon."
"A Machamp..." Shade said as he did a quick analysis of it. "It certainly looks like a strong one. Better be careful. Clawlitzer, Aqua Jet!" Clawlitzer flew straight at Machamp with its attack.
"Not this time! Machamp, Ice Punch!" Davis called. Machamp focused cold energy around one fist and smashed it right against Clawlitzer. Not only did it stop Clawlitzer's attack; it froze Clawlitzer. The ice shattered and Clawlitzer took some damage. "Now use Cross Chop!" Machamp crossed two of its arms and chopped them against Clawlitzer with more damage being dealt.
"Hang in there! Clawlitzer, Aqua Jet!" Shade repeated with Clawlitzer coming at Machamp.
"Do a repeat and stop it with Ice Punch!" Davis ordered.
"Not this time! Clawlitzer, lean thirty degrees to the left and circle around!" Shade said. Machamp tried repeating what it did earlier, but Clawlitzer was able to avoid it this time. Clawlitzer circled back around and smashed right into Machamp's back. Machamp tried reaching behind to grab it, but Clawlitzer moved away from it. "Now use Water Pulse!"
"No you don't! Machamp, grab it's claw!" Davis called. Machamp reached out for Clawlitzer and was able to keep Clawlitzer's claw shut.
"What the?!" Shade called as he didn't expect that.
"Look at that! Machamp grabbed Clawlitzer's claw and is preventing it from attacking!"
"Let's finish this! Seismic Toss!" Davis ordered. Machamp jumped into the air and it was quite a jump. Machamp threw Clawlitzer down with all of it's might. Clawlitzer crashed right into the ground. When the dust cleared away, Clawlitzer was taken out.
"Clawlitzer is unable to battle!" The ref called.
"Shade is now down to his last pokemon. What will he do here?" Shade brought Clawlitzer back to its pokeball and got his last pokemon.
"Gallade, you're up!" Shade called.
"Gallade!"
"And his last pokemon is Gallade!"
"I knew he was going to use Gallade." Davis said as he was ready.
"I assumed that you would, but you won't beat Gallade as easily." Shade said as he did something unexpected and removed his goggles. A sign he's relying more on heart than intelligence for this once. "Well? What are you waiting for?"
"Nothing." Davis said he liked where this was going. "Machamp, Ice Punch!" Machamp charged straight at Gallade to attack.
"Dodge it and use Psycho Cut!" Shade said. Gallade jumped straight up and avoided Machamp's attack. After that, it came straight down and slashed right against Machamp straight down the center. In that one attack, Machamp collapsed and was knocked out of the battle.
"Machamp is unable to battle!" The ref called.
"It's now tied up with both sides having only one pokemon left." Davis brought back Machamp and was getting his last pokemon ready.
"I'm ready to go, Davis." Imperialdramon said.
"No. Sorry, but I only got one pokemon that can take on that Gallade." Davis said. "Sawk, let's go!"
"Sawk!"
"Davis's last pokemon is Sawk. It's a battle between fighting-types."
"Why is he using a fighting-type against a psychic-type?!" Tetsu questioned.
"He must have a reason." Cletus said.
"Let's go, Sawk! Get that Gallade is Knock Off!" Davis ordered as Sawk went on the attack and got it's attack ready, but neither Shade or Gallade seemed concerned. They actually let the attack come.
"What's this? Gallade didn't even try to stop the attack."
"That's because we were glad it happened. Gallade, False Swipe!" Shade ordered. Gallade had energy flow through its blades and slashed right against Sawk with Sawk being knocked back hard. "You see, Gallade's ability is Justified. When Gallade hit by a dark-type attack, our power increases." Not good. Davis played right in their hands. "Now use Close Combat!"
"We won't back down! You use Close Combat as well!" Davis ordered. The two pokemon went at each other and were matching each other move for move. They were both going at each other with fierce speed and power.
"Wow! Look at them go out there! It's a fighting frenzy between those two!" The two of them kept going until they smashed their arms against the other and tried to push the other back.
"Use Low Sweep!" Davis ordered.
"Dodge it and Us Psycho Cut!" Shade ordered. Sawk broke away and tried sweeping Gallade's leg, but Gallade jumped and got it's next attack ready.
"Use Close Combat!" Davis called. Sawk attacked before Gallade could and attacked it as much as Sawk could with Gallade trying to block each attack.
"Wait! I get it now! He must have chose Sawk because of Sawk's maneuverability! It's able to match Gallade's attack move for move!" Cletus said.
"In other words, Sawk can match Gallade's movements!" Tetsu said.
"Gallade, False Swipe!" Shade called as Gallade got an attack ready and smashed its blade against Sawk, but Sawk was still holding on. "Finish it! Now use Psycho Cut!" Gallade slashed against Sawk again. It looked like that could be where the battle ends.
"Use Low Sweep!" Davis ordered. Sawk surprised them as it swept the legs again and landed a powerful strike against Gallade's leg.
"How is Sawk still battling?! That should have finished it!" Shade said, but then it hit him. Sawk knocked away Psycho Cut and cut some of the damage. It was so fast that he barely noticed.
"Finish it with Close Combat!" Davis ordered. Sawk attacked Gallade with fierce power in each of it's strikes. Sawk gave it one more good strike and knocked Gallade right to the ground and it knocked Gallade out.
"Gallade is unable to battle, which means that the victory goes to Davis!" The ref called.
"That's that! Davis is the winner and is advancing!"
"Oh yeah!" Davis called as he ran over to Sawk and wrapped his arms around him. "Way to go, Sawk! You are the karate master!"
"Sawk!"
"Impressive." Chase said as he was watching from a VIP section. "Davis surely knows how to bring out the best of his pokemon. Even from here, I can see the deep trust they have in each other."
"Yeah, Davis!" Tetsu called.
"Way to go out there!" Cletus called as the audience cheered for him. As for Shade, he walked right over to an upset Gallade.
"It's okay, Gallade. It was still a good battle and you did great." Shade comforted before bringing Gallade back to it's pokeball. Shade walked right over to Davis after that. "Davis, I owe a lot to you. Thanks for a good battle."
"Back at you." Davis said as the two of them shook hands. It was a good sight, and Davis enjoyed having the feeling of winning a battle in an official league, a feeling that he missed. The best part is that it's just getting started.
After a successful first match, Davis is moving on. What kind of battles can we expect from here? Who will be the one to win it all? Stay tuned to find out.
