The Centros League has ended, but the adventure isn't over yet. Davis has decided to go to the Galore Islands to take part in a grand challenge called Pokemon Grand Orientation. A fun event where he can challenge four facilities and then take on a a great and mighty trainer.
Since the Centros League ended, Davis and the others returned to Columba Town and went over to Professor Maple.
"So? What do you think, Professor Maple?" Davis questioned.
"Pokemon Grand Orientation... I've heard of it and it's a rather fun challenge." Professor Maple said while she was working. "You also get to go from one island to the next to see many great places. Of course, it won't go as you think."
"What do you mean?" Cletus asked.
"The four facilities aren't the same as gyms. The challenges are different and there's no way of knowing what the challenges are." Maple claimed.
"I'm guessing that isn't going to stop you." Tetsu said as he knew Davis.
"Not a chance. Galore Islands, here we come!" Davis cheered as he was excited about something like this.
So you want to be Master of Pokemon
Do you have the skills to be Number One
I wanna take the ultimate step
Find the courage to be bold
To risk it all and not forget the lessons that I hold
I wanna go where no one's been
Far beyond the crowd
Learn the way to take command
Use the power that's in my hand
Hey
We all live in a pokemon world
I wanna be the greatest master of them all
We all live in a pokemon world
Put myself to the test
Be better than all the rest
So you wanna be a Master of Pokemon
Do you have the skills to be Number One
We all live in a pokemon world
I wanna be the greatest master of them all
Got the power right in your hands
Po-ke-mon
(Davis' voice) Sail Towards Galore
"Well, if you really plan on heading towards the Galore Islands, you can catch a boat right here in town." Professor Maple claimed. "It's not set to leave for a few hours, but why not use the time to gather supplies and other things you might need."
"Sounds like a good idea. Since we'll be moving from one island to the next, there's no way of knowing what is really out there." Cletus said as the four of them stepped out of her lab.
"You think you can do that, Cletus? I'm gonna head for the Pokemon Center to make sure all my pokemon are in great shape for this." Davis said. "I also want to give Professor Oak a call. If these checkpoints, facilities, or whatever they're called really hold different challenges; I want to have my other pokemon ready."
"I'll go with you. Since we're doing some island hopping, my water-types will love the ocean." Tetsu said. It all sounded good to them. They were all rather excited to see what the Galore Islands have in store for them.
"Okay. Just be sure you don't forget anything before we get to the ship." Cletus said with both of them understanding.
...
The Pokemon Center
"Nurse Joy, can you make sure all my pokemon are in decent shape?" Davis asked. "We've got a big trip coming."
"Sure. Just leave everything to me." Nurse Joy said as she took his pokemon.
"I don't need this. I'm perfectly fine." Imperialdramon said.
"Just do it." Davis said as he pushed him to go with Nurse Joy just to be sure. Imperialdramon just went along with it. "So, what do you think the Galore Islands are like?"
"I'm not really sure. I've never been there." Tetsu said. "You really think you're ready for something like this?"
"You worry too much." Davis assured as he was confident he can handle this. "If I made it all the way to the top four of the Centros League, I can handle this. Besides, if my other pokemon could handle themselves so well after not battling for so long in a competition like that, it can't be all that bad. This Pokemon Grand Orientation can't be all that bad." He was boasting about his accomplishments and it seemed like someone was listening in as it bothered them.
"Well, no one can blame you for feeling confident." Tetsu said as he just brushed the whole thing off.
"Yeah. Now, I need to give Professor Oak a call." Davis said as he was walking off, but someone held out their leg and caused Davis to trip and fall to the ground.
"Davis, are you okay?!" Tetsu questioned.
"Yeah, but who did that?" Davis said as they took a look. They spotted a guy dressed like a punk with him black top and grey pants with him having a brown mohawk with red highlights in it. "Please tell me you did that by accident."
"And what if I didn't?" The punk taunted as it seemed like he was looking for trouble.
"What's your problem?" Davis questioned as he got up.
"You competed in the Centros League? Big deal. It's not like you won it." The punk said. "Sounds like to me someone has a big mouth and an even bigger ego."
"What? I don't even know who you are, but I already feel like I want to throttle you." Davis said as he didn't like what this guy was saying.
"The name is Duke. You think you're something tough, how about you prove it to me right now?" He said as he took out a pokeball and was ready for a battle.
"I wish I could, but Nurse Joy is looking at my pokemon. Don't worry, I will battle you when they're ready." Davis said as he just walked away and acted like the bigger man with Tetsu following, but Duke already looks like he doesn't like Davis.
"I'm impressed. You handled that pretty maturely." Tetsu said.
"Just wait until I get my pokemon! That creep is going to get the old one-two!" Davis said as he was acting like a boxer.
"There it is." Tetsu said as he knew it was too good to be true. Putting what just happened aside, Davis gave Professor Oak a called and told him his plans.
"I see. Well, I was expecting you to return soon, but it sounds like you have a fun new adventure awaiting you." Professor Oak claimed.
"And I might need my other pokemon since I don't know what I'll be walking into." Davis said.
"No worries. You're pokemon are ready and willing to go whenever you need them. Just say the word and I'll send them over." Professor Oak said. "I think this calls for a poem. Sailing through the sea like Huntail, you are following your heart and surely won't fail."
"Isn't that just a rhyme, not a poem?" Tetsu whispered.
"It's sort of his thing, let him have it." Davis said.
"Good luck, Davis. I can't wait to hear from you again." Professor Oak claimed as he ended the call.
"Excuse me, Davis!" Nurse Joy called. "I'm glad to tell you that all of your pokemon are doing okay."
"I told you I was." Imperialdramon said as he came out.
"Thanks a lot." Davis said as he took his pokemon back. He was ready to get going until he saw Duke standing in his way.
"Looks like you're pokemon are up for battle now. What do you say?" Duke taunted. "You think you're so cool and tough just because you competed in the Centros League? Care to put that to the test?" Davis never backed down from a challenge and he surely won't from this jerk. The two of them stepped outside and stood facing each other to have a battle. That was right when Cletus showed up with supplies.
"Hey. What's going on?" Cletus questioned.
"Some punk ran his mouth off and Davis is taking him on." Tetsu said.
"We'll just use one pokemon." Duke said. "Let's see how tough you really are. Grimmsnarl!" He called as he chose his pokemon.
"Snar!"
"Who's that pokemon?" Davis questioned as he pulled out his pokedex.
"Grimmsnarl, the Bulk Up Pokemon. A dark and fairy-type, and the evolve form of Morgrem. It likes to cause misdeeds and pranks. Grimmsnarl have complete control over their hair and use it for muscle support."
"What a gnarly-looking pokemon. Imperialdramon, let's teach these guys a lesson." Davis said.
"Right." Imperialdramon said as he stepped forward for a battle.
"Let's start this out by using Dragon Pulse!" Davis called. Imperialdramon unleashed a powerful dragon blast, but it hit and Grimmsnarl had no effect on it. That didn't go the way Davis wanted.
"Davis, Grimmsnarl is part fairy-type! Dragon-type attacks have no effect!" Tetsu warned.
"You made it to the top four and you don't even know that?! You're pathetic!" Duke taunted. "Grimmsnarl, Dark Pulse!" Grimmsnarl attacked as it unleashed a dark blast and hit Imperialdramon hard, but he was able to endure. "Now use Hammer Arm!" Grimmsnarl went at Imperialdramon and smashed his arms right against him and that looked like it packed some weight behind it. "You think just because you competed in the Centros League that you're something tough, but there are plenty of other strong trainers who haven't even competed."
"Don't you think I know that?" Davis said.
"But you're going around acting all confident. You think it's all no big deal. People like you really annoy me." Duke said. "You think just because you took part in some big and fancy competition, you're something great and strong. Well, I think it's time someone puts you in their place." Duke is making it sound like Davis is overconfident and obnoxious, but Davis isn't going to stand there and let him talk to him like that. "Grimmsnarl, Hammer Arm once again!" Grimmsnarl was getting ready to attack once again.
"Focus Punch!" Davis called. Imperialdramon focused some power in his fist and smashed it right against Grimmsnarl, right in the gut. It looked like that did a lot of damage as Grimmsnarl looked like the wind was just knocked out of him.
"Grimmsnarl, are you okay?!" Duke called.
"Now use Brick Break!" Davis called. Imperialdramon took his arm and smashed it right against Grimmsnarl's head and knocked him right against the ground. They all took a closer look and saw Grimmsnarl was knocked out.
"It looks like that's that." Tetsu said.
"It would seem so." Cletus said.
"No..." Duke said as he dropped to the ground.
"I don't know what you're deal is, but I am confident. It's not just because I competed in the Centros League, but it's because I know my pokemon can handle whatever is thrown at us." Davis said. He turned away and thought he put that punk in his place.
"I wanted to compete in the Centros League too, trained really hard for it, but I didn't get all eight badges in time." Duke admitted. "I bet I would have won it if I had, would have made pretty far myself."
"So that's what this was about." Tetsu said as they could see the problem now.
"I get how frustrating that must be." Davis said as he kept his back to him. "Still, you don't need to compete in a big event to prove that you're strong. I'm just doing it because I think it's fun, but I still give it all I got. Don't forget that." That was all Davis said as he left Duke thinking about that. One can get as strong as they want, but don't forget to have fun.
...
The Port
Once all of that was over, Davis and the others made it just in time to catch the ship that's heading for the Galore Islands. As they were about to board, Professor Maple was seeing them off.
"I wish you all luck out there." Professor Maple said. "Davis, remember that you need to register for Pokemon Grand Orientation. You can do that at the first Pokemon Center you come across on those islands."
"Right. Thanks, Professor." Davis said.
"Let's go! This is going to be awesome!" Tetsu said as they were all a little excited with all of them climbing on board and the ship soon began to leave.
"Bye! All of you take care!" Professor Maple called as she waved them off. All four of them couldn't wait for the Galore Islands and could just imagine what's going to happen.
"This is going to be quite an adventure. I can't wait to see what the Galore Islands are like." Cletus claimed.
"Me either." Davis said as he kept thinking about the adventures and battles he might have, but he also thought about Duke and what happened so he won't forget something important. "No matter what comes our way, we'll have a blast and give it all we've got." He claimed as it's all just beyond the horizon.
A brand new adventure is awaiting our heroes as they set off for the Galore Islands. Just what kind of challenges do Pokemon Grand Orientation hold? We'll see soon enough. So stay tuned...
