Our heroes continue on with their journey through the Galor Islands. At the moment, they are heading for another island, where another adventure awaits them.
"There's the next island!" Cletus said as they rode a small boat and was heading straight for the next island. "That's called Variety Island."
"Why is it called that?" Tetsu questioned.
"I'm not sure, but there's a Pokemon Center we can stop at." Cletus said.
"Sounds good to me. I wonder what kind of pokemon are on this island." Davis said as he had a good feeling about this island.

(Davis' voice) Wings of Variation
"Hello and welcome to the Pokemon Center." Nurse Joy said as she greeted Davis and the others as they came in.
"Hi, Nurse Joy. Mind taking a look at our pokemon?" Davis asked.
"Of course not. Just leave them with me and I'll take care of them." Nurse Joy offered. That all sounded good to them as they were leaving their pokemon with them.
"Nurse Joy, can I ask something?" Tetsu said and got her attention. "Why is this island called Variety Island?"
"That's because this island is well-known for the Vivillon's migration." Nurse Joy said.
"Vivillon migration?" Davis questioned.
"Yes. Just take a look." Nurse Joy said as she referred to the screen above them and saw all the different kinds of Vivillon. "This island is known for all the Scatterbug and Spewpa. When they evolve into Vivillon, it's a beautiful sight as they all begin to migrate. The variety of different pattern wings makes you feel like you're looking at the largest rainbow. For reasons we don't know, this island is capable of allowing Vivillon to evolve into different patterns when that normally depends on the location of where they evolved."
"Vivillon..." Davis said as he remembered seeing one before. "My old traveling companion, Ross, had one. I battled it. Hold on." Davis took out his pokedex and looked it up with the right pattern. "This was the pattern on his." He said as he showed it with Polar Pattern.
"Vivillon, the Scale Pokemon. A bug and flying-type, and the evolve form of Spewpa. The scales Vivillon spread can be quite toxic. The pattern on it's wings after evolving depend on it's location."
"How come Vivillon have different wing patterns?" Tetsu questioned.
"That all depends on the location as to where they evolve, but Nurse Joy said that there's something about this island that allow all the different patterns to come out." Cletus said.
"It be pretty cool to see something like that." Imperialdramon said.
"You're free to go take a look." Nurse Joy said. "There are plenty of Spewpa and Scatterbug on the island. The migration doesn't begin for another couple days."
"Cool. Let's go check it out." Davis said as they all like to see something like this Vivillon mirgation. Looks like Davis' feeling was right.
...
The Forest
All of them went up to the forest so they would be able to find the pokemon that are part of the Vivillon migration. It actually didn't take them very long to find them. They soon entered a part of the forest where there were Scatterbug everywhere.
"Wow! Look at all the Scatterbug!" Cletus said as they saw a lot. "They're the first stage in the Vivillon evolution line." Seeing them, Davis pulled out his pokedex and learned more about them.
"Scatterbug, the Scatterdust Pokemon. A bug-type. It is immune to any poisonous roots or food it eats for the poison will turn into black ash."
"They look a little creepy, but cute at the same time." Davis said. That was right when they all noticed something. Many of the Scatterbug began to glow and were already beginning to evolve. Seeing so many pokemon evolve at once was already incredible. The Scatterbug grew bigger and took on the form of Spewpa.
"Spewpa!"
"They're all Spewpa now! I can't believe they all evolved at once like that!" Tetsu said as they were all amazed. Davis used his pokedex to learn more.
"Spewpa, the Scatterdust Pokemon. A bug-type, and the evolve form of Scatterbug. It can make its fur quite sharp and spread poisonous powder."
"It doesn't really take that long for Scatterbug to evolve into Spewpa. We'll be seeing the start of that migration in no time." Cletus said as it seemed like there was going to be no worries.
"Scatta..." That was when they noticed a single Scatterbug climbing out of the bushes.
"Uh-oh. One of them didn't evolve." Tetsu said as that meant it would be left behind. That was already happening as Scatterbug tried moving closer to the Spewpa, but the Spewba spread their fur and shot out dust. It was enough to scare Scatterbug away as it crawled over to Davis and hid behind it's leg. That small action was enough to cause it to shake with fear.
"That didn't seem very nice." Cletus said.
"Are you okay?" Davis asked as he dropped down to it and tried to comfort Scatterbug. Scatterbug began to calm down, but the Spewpa are leaving. "It looks like all your friends are leaving you behind."
"That's not good. If Scatterbug here doesn't evolve into Spewpa, it can't evolve into Vivillon. If it doesn't evolve into Vivillon, it will be left here while all of it's friends are gone." Cletus said.
"You don't want that to happen, do you?" Davis questioned. It seemed like Scatterbug didn't want to, but it just won't evolve for some reason.
"So, what do we do now?" Imperialdramon questioned.
"That's easy. We'll just help Scatterbug evolve into Spewpa and help it become a Vivillon." Davis suggested.
"You think we can do that? Nurse Joy says that the migration will start in a couple days." Tetsu said as he wasn't sure that's not enough time.
"It might take a little work, but I think we just might. We'll have all of today and all of tomorrow." Cletus theorized.
"Yeah. So, let's get to work. You're not going to be left behind by your friends." Davis said as they all set to help Spewpa out. Of course, they need to train Spewpa and get stronger. That's exactly what they're all going to try and do. "Ready, Scatterbug? The first thing we have to do is get you stronger to help you evolve."
"Scatta!"
"Growlithe, I choose you!" Davis called.
"Growl!"
"Davis, I thought you want Scatterbug to get stronger?" Tetsu said.
"I do. Facing a tough pokemon that has the advantage will help." Davis said. "You hear that, Growlithe. Just try to endure whatever Scatterbug throws at you. We're trying to help Scatterbug evolve." Growlithe understood and stood ready for anything. "Okay, Scatterbug. Give us your best shot!" Scatterbug looked ready for a battle, but all Growlithe did was glare at it and Scatterbug lost all nerve. "Huh? We didn't do anything."
"Oh boy. This Scatterbug scares pretty easily." Imperialdramon said.
"Scatterbug, you can't be afraid." Davis said. "If you're going to get stronger to evolve, you've got to attack." Scatterbug understood what it had to do and tried to do just that. Scatterbug tried tackling Growlithe, but it was so soft and Growlithe barely felt it.
"Oh boy... This might be tougher than we thought." Tetsu said. "Scatterbug isn't really a fighter."
"Scatterbug, you can't be afraid. You've got to do this if you're going to evolve in time." Davis reminded. Scatterbug tried to work the courage to battle, but what really happened was that it's appetite grew as it saw a bunch of leaves to eat and went to get it. Scatterbug ate away, but that wasn't helping. "Hold on." He said as he tried getting Scatterbug to quit eating. "You need to focus on training. If you're serious about evolving, you need to grow stronger to do that. You can't just by eating."
"This might take a while." Tetsu said as they might have their work cutout for them.
"Okay, let's try a little running. Nothing scary about that." Davis said as that sounded like a good idea. Davis and his pokemon started running, but they looked back at Scatterbug and saw it was already asleep. "Come on!"
"No wonder that Scatterbug hasn't evolved yet." Cletus said as the problem becomes more and more clear. This Scatterbug is just lazy and cowardly.

Later
Davis and the others tried helping Scatterbug as much as they could, but Scatterbug didn't make it easy. They were at it all day and didn't make much progress. Scatterbug just simply wouldn't be cooperative.
"It's no good. Scatterbug just doesn't want it bad enough." Tetsu said, but Scatterbug was denying all of it. "At this rate, Scatterbug won't make it in time."
"But if it doesn't, all of it's friends will leave it behind." Cletus said.
"Scatterbug, if you're serious about evolving, you need to be able to put in the effort. You can't just slack around and not want to battle." Davis said, but Scatterbug can't seem to help it. "You need to want it. You need to show that you want it. I get that you might be scared and not easy, but that's the point. If you don't do this, you'll never become a Vivillon." That got Scatterbug feel bad it's not putting in the effort, but it just doesn't know what it can do. "It's getting late. Let's go back to the Pokemon Center and we can try again tomorrow."
"But tomorrow will be our only chance." Cletus said.
"We'll just have to hope we can make it in time." Imperialdramon said, but that all really depends on Scatterbug.

The Pokemon Center
It soon became night and everyone was asleep. The only left awake was Scatterbug. Scatterbug wants to evolve, but it needs to will itself to do that. Little Scatterbug stared up at the moon and was amazed by how big and bright it was. Just imagine what it would be like to fly up there and be in the same sky as it. That's what Scatterbug wants, but Scatterbug needs to work for it. With that idea in mind, Scatterbug tried to work the courage it needed to do this.

The Next Day
Today was their last chance as the Vivillon migration begins tomorrow. That means they have a lot of work to do. Davis and the others got up early to try and work with Scatterbug, but Scatterbug surprised them all with a brand new attitude. Scatterbug was putting in the effort this time as they all ran their way up a hill.
"Wow! What got into Scatterbug?!" Tetsu said. "It's acting like a different pokemon!"
"I guess Davis got through to it!" Tetsu said.
"You're doing great, Scatterbug! You just need to make it up this hill!" Davis said as they all kept running and Scatterbug was doing rather well as they both made their way up to the top and saw a bunch of berry bushes. Seeing that, Scatterbug helped itself to some food. "I guess you deserve it. That run did build an appetite." Davis was quite pleased with Scatterbug, but he soon noticed something with the trunk of the bush and saw a large claw mark in it. "What's that about?"
"Claw marks..." Tetsu said. "Sometimes pokemon leave marks like that as an indication of their territory."
"Wait! Whose territory are we in?!" Davis questioned as he knew it had to be a large pokemon. He soon got his answer as he felt something breathe against his back. All of them looked to see the pokemon was a Druddigon...and it looked mad.
"Druddigon!" It roared and gave them all a good scare. Davis grabbed Scatterbug and they all ran for it.
"I thought Druddigon usually live in caves?!" Tetsu questioned.
"They do, but it must have claimed this area because the sunlight warms it's body!" Cletus said.
"Who cares?! Just keep running!" Davis said as Druddigon was right behind them. It was at that moment that Scatterbug had the courage to battle as it saw Druddigon was about to attack Davis. Scatterbug used String Shot and tried tying Druddigon up, but Druddigon pulled Scatterbug right out of Davis' arms. "Scatterbug!" This was bad as Druddigon was about to attack Scatterbug, but Scatterbug actually fought back as it spread Stun Spore and it all hit Druddigon.
"Scatterbug just used Stun Spore!" Cletus said.
"It was scared of Growlithe, but it will take on a pokemon like Druddigon?!" Imperialdramon said as he was impressed. Scatterbug kept attacking as it constantly used Tackle against Druddigon.
"Scatterbug, it's all good! Let's go!" Davis called. Scatterbug hurried over to Davis and they all ran out of there and managed to give Druddigon the slip. When they all felt they were far enough away, they all stopped to catch their breaths.
"That was a little scary." Tetsu said.
"Maybe, but that was awesome, Scatterbug. I knew you had it in you." Davis said as he held Scatterbug right in his arms.
"Scatt!" Scatterbug felt rather proud of itself. That was right when Scatterbug began to glow and was changing. Soon, Scatterbug became a Spewpa right in Davis' arms.
"You evolved!" Davis called.
"Spewpa!"
"I knew you could do it!" Davis said.
"This is great! There's a chance after all!" Cletus said.
"But do you think we can get Spewpa to evolve for tomorrow? Just because it's a Spewpa now doesn't mean it will become a Vivillon by then." Tetsu said.
"Why do you have to be a wet blanket?" Imperialdramon questioned.
"I'm sure we can make it." Davis said as he was still confident. Now that Scatterbug has become Spewpa, it was only a matter of time until it became a Vivillon for the migration. Davis is sure they'll make it in time and that's why they worked with what they could to get Spewpa ready for that moment.
...
The Next Day
They did what they could, but now it was time to see if it all really worked. Today was the day of the migration.
"Nurse Joy says this is the spot." Tetsu said as they arrived at a clearing where the migration should begin. Spewpa moved into place and they all hoped it would work. Then, they all saw other Spewpa arriving. That means it's not too late. Davis and the others just hope all their efforts were enough. Once all the Spewpa gathered together, they all began to glow and they were all evolving. One by one, the Spewpa all evolved into Vivillon.
"Vivillon!" All of the Spewpa were evolving and every Vivillon had a different pattern on their wings. As soon as they all did, the Vivillon began to fly and it looked amazing. The boys all certainly agreed.
"It really is like a rainbow!" Tetsu said.
"It's beautiful!" Cletus said as it was like a beautiful rainbow curtain came over the area with the fluttering wings of butterflies and the sunlight reflecting off the wings to add to the shine. Then, they saw one Vivillon with it having the Marine Pattern fly over to them.
"Hey! I bet you're the one we've been helping! You really have evolved!" Davis said as they were all so glad that it really did it. "I knew you could do it."
"Vivillon!"
"Well, you better get going." Davis said as he saw the other Vivillon flying away. The one they helped was most grateful for all their help, especially since it found the strength to make it happen itself, and flew off with it's friends. Just like an actual rainbow, they arched over the sky with Davis and his friends taking in a beautiful sight.
Change to one's self is never easy, but with real commitment and effort, it is possible. Our heroes will sure to put in that same kind of effort and commitment into the rest of the journey. You surely don't want to miss any of it.
