"What is this place?" MJ asked as he and Frax teleported into a large hall.
"Our home." Frax said. "This way." He added leading MJ down the corridor.
"Just how rich are you guys, this is like a palace." MJ commented as they entered one of the rooms where a woman was sitting at a desk.
"Frax? What are you doing here?" She asked.
"I heard Lobo took Alex, I wanted to make sure she was okay." He explained.
"She is fine."
"Where is she?" MJ asked.
"And you are?"
"Her family." MJ said. The comment causing the woman to look at Frax who said.
"We have come to see Alex."
"She is in her room." The woman said.
"Alex has a room here?" MJ asked.
"Of course, she inherited all that her father had." The woman said.
"I'll take you." Frax said to MJ leading him out of the room.
"Who was that?" MJ asked.
"My mother."
"You guys really aren't close." MJ commented.
"I don't see how you can make that assessment from that interaction." Frax said confused as they walked down the corridor.
Eventually they reached a door and Frax pressed a button to the side. Not getting a response he pressed the button again.
"How do you open these doors?" MJ asked.
"Assuming they aren't locked, there will be a button of this shape." Frax said pointing to a different button. "Press it and it will open."
"Sweet." MJ said pressing the button.
"It is impolite to just go in." Frax said as the door started to open. Ignoring him MJ strode in calling.
"Alex?"
"MJ?" Alex asked jumping up. "What are you doing here? Is mom okay?"
"Your mom was hurt. Mom and grandma are trying to help her.."
"Then what are you doing here?"
"I didn't think you should be alone so I hitched a ride with Frax." MJ explained.
"Does your mom know?"
"No. Well probably. I left a note."
"She will kill you." Alex pointed out.
"I know. But I wasn't going to leave you here."
"How bad was she hurt?"
"I don't know for sure. I mean it sounded bad, but grandma said she'd be okay." MJ said.
"Are you okay?" Alex asked noticing how stiffly MJ was standing.
"Thanks to you. But Lobo still managed to break some ribs despite the forcefield."
"I'm sorry." Alex said.
"It wasn't your fault." MJ said. "And you saved me."
The teenage Alex then looked at her uncle and said
"Can we take your ship and go home?"
"If the danger on Earth isn't gone completely Lobo will bring you straight back." Frax pointed out. "For now it is safer to stay here."
"But-"
"As soon as it is safe to return I will take you." Frax said. "If you will excuse me I need to discuss things with my mother." He said before adding. "Alex, on Dakran things are different to what you are used to. Money is everything. That means the attention you will get is because of your money. Be careful."
"Your mother already warned me." Alex said.
"I'll look after her." MJ said.

"Alex." Eliza said walking into the infirmary.
"Have you got something?"
"Yes and no. We think we have a way to speed up recovery. But only by a few hours."
"Anything is better than nothing." Alex said.
"Lena is just making the dosage up now. It should be here in under an hour." Eliza added.
"That's good." Alex said glancing at her sister's pained expression. She then looked back at her mother and asked. "How are you holding up?"
"About as well as you."
"I need to check on MJ, he's been on his own too much. Can you let me know if there are any changes?" Alex asked just as Rose rushed in.
"Ma'am there are a whole bunch of rampaging aliens heading towards the city."
"You deal with that, I'll check on MJ." Eliza said.
"Thanks. Can you spend some time with him?"
"Of course." Eliza replied.
"Thanks." Alex said before squeezing her sister's hand once more and heading back to the control room.

"What have we got?" Alex asked.
"At least fifty aliens tearing everything in their way to pieces." Rose said.
"Any signs they are modified aliens?"
"Pretty sure at least two are modified."
"Any confirmed non-modified aliens?" Alex asked.
"No ma'am."
"So the chemical could be in play." Alex mused. After a moment she looked up. "There is a strong chance this is a distraction so we can't commit everyone." Alex said. "Plus that chemical could be in play so no Metas. Right now our job is to contain the threat."
"Alex, Lena is on the line. Say's it's urgent."
"Hi Lena." Alex said said taking the call.
"Alex, Voight and Marshall should be with you in less than ten minutes. They have the antidote."
"Thank you."
"There's something else."
"What?"
"Remember we found there was nanotech involved in the modified aliens?"
"Yeah."
"It offers a backdoor."
"You said you couldn't get in."
"I was wrong. I am working on it now."
"There is an attack happening so if it exists we need it."
"I'll let you know." Lena said ending the call.
"Ma'am." Cork called.
"What's wrong?" Alex asked.
"Someone has just released a video of the DEO evacuation of Supergirl and J'onn. They are claiming one of the bodies was Supergirl and that Supergirl is dead."
"They are probably trying to spark civil unrest. Coordinate with NCPD." Alex said.
"Yes ma'am."
"Alex." Ruby said approaching her.
"What it is?"
"We can handle this, go help Kara."

"How is she?" Eliza asked when she returned to Kara's room holding Chewie.
"There's no change." Alex said looking up from her sister before asking. "Did I fall to sleep, it feels like you only just left."
"I did." Eliza said.
"I thought you were going to get some rest?" Alex asked confused. "And why have you got Chewie?"
"This was waiting at the house." She said passing Alex a note.
Taking it Alex read MJ's note, then re read it before marching out of the infirmary.
"How's-" Ruby started to ask only for Alex to cut in.
"Do you know where Frax's ship went?"
"No."
"Do we have any way of making contact?"
"We think so. But there will be a delay. We wouldn't get a response for a few days, if at all."
"Find out where he is and if MJ is with him."
"MJ?" Ruby asked confused before deciding it was better to just roll with it and saying. "Okay." As she started to walk of Alex wait.
"Wait, were you after me for something?"
"Yes, the group of aliens are contained, but it will take awhile to capture all of them. Lena said she is close so we aren't directly engaging, instead we are waiting it out. But several pockets of alien and meta attacks are cropping up all over the city.
"Can we handle it?" Alex asked.
"Yes, just thought you'd want to know."
"Thanks. Get Cork and Kepler to review the locations, see if they can find a pattern."
"Yes boss." Ruby said.

"You actually have a palace." MJ commented as he stood on the balcony with his cousin.
"It's not mine."
"At least some of it is." MJ countered.
"Why are you here?" Alex asked.
"I didn't want you to be alone here. And I know we haven't exactly been friends recently, but I thought you might want some back up, or failing that a punch bag."
"You didn't have to come."
"I wanted to." MJ said.
"How'd you get Frax to bring you here?"
"Begged and said it was for you."
"Think that will work for getting us back to Earth?"
"I doubt it, but we can try." MJ said. "Or we can try stealing a ship."
"Can't. I mean we can't get out of here."
"You are a prisoner?"
"Yeah. Whenever I leave I get five guards. I can't go anywhere alone."
"I could act as a diversion." MJ offered.
"They'd probably shoot you." Alex pointed out.
"Want to go look for weaknesses? I mean I did become an expert in shaking my DEO escort?" MJ asked.
"Beats sitting round here."

"What's happening?" Alex asked.
"Lena delivered a pulsed weapon thing." Ruby said.
"Pulse weapon thing?" Alex asked.
"It releases a high powered EM signal that contains wave packet with a hack in that will break through the nanite security and allow it to be overwritten." Ruby said reading a note. "We have sent it into the field and it is ready to use. As soon as we know it works Lena said she can make some more portable units."
"What will it do specifically?" Alex asked.
"Didn't ask." Ruby confessed. "Want me to hold back using it?"
"No. We need to put an end to this. But until we know exactly what it does only use it on the group outside of the city."
"Yes ma'am." Ruby said before tapping on her radio and saying. "Team Cobra, you have a green light."
"Yes ma'am." Came back over the radio before all eyes in the control room looked at the screen that showed the aggressive aliens.
Moments later they saw nearly all the aliens drop to their knees, many writhing in pain.
"Why isn't it working on that one?" Ruby asked looking at the screen.
"It's a Krint." Alex said looking at the screen. "Their skins effectively act like a faraday cage, the signal can't get through." She then looked across the control room. "Cork, I want a full id of all aliens, look for any like the Krint that will make this plan not work."
"Sorry, I should have spotted that." Ruby said.
"You're doing fine." Alex said. "This was always a high risk plan." Alex said. "Prep the infirmary at the desert base, we don't know how many of those aliens will need treatment."

When Alex walked back into the darkened room she saw her sister, her face still contorted in pain, lying on the bed, Eliza at her side and Chewie lying on her lap.
"How is she?"
"No change. We gave her the antidote, so all we can do is wait." Eliza said. "How are you?"
"The main group is neutralised and the smaller groups are being contained. Lena's hack looks like it works in ninety percent of the cases, but there is a risk it isn't long term solution. But then again they will be in holding so if they do reactivate they shouldn't do much harm and-" Alex listed only for her mother to cut in.
"Alex."
"What?" Alex asked confused.
"I asked how you were, not how everything is going." Eliza pointed out.
"We have no idea where MJ is. Sure he says he was going to Dakran, but was that a lie? Can Frax be trusted? Even if he is on Dakran there is no way to know if Alex is there. And if Kara wakes up and we don't have Alex she is going to flip out and-"
"Alex, we will find the kids and your sister will be okay."
"You don't know that." Alex said.
"Yes I do and if you weren't so exhausted you'd know that to. You have to have faith." Eliza said standing, much to Chewies disgust, and hugging her daughter. For a minute Alex silently hugged her mother before eventually pulling away and saying.
"Sorry."
"Why are you apologising?"
"I'm meant to be strong."
"You are." Eliza said.
"I don't feel it right now."
"Being overwhelmed doesn't mean you aren't strong." Eliza pointed out. "You need to be not so hard on yourself." She added as Rose entered.
"Sorry." They said, realising they were interrupting.
"It's fine. What is it?" Alex asked.
"Ruby needs you in the control room."
"I'll be right there." Alex said.

"What's going on?" Alex asked limping into the control room.
"It's been an hour and none of the aliens are showing adverse effects. They aren't back to normal, but then again we don't even know if that is possible."
"So what's the problem?"
"NCPD are reporting multiple robberies."
"Where?"
"Pharmacies, pharmaceutical factories and hospitals."
"What does that have to do with us?"
"At least three of the perps are known to NCPD, and are known not to have powers."
"But now they have them." Alex guessed.
"Yes."
"How many of the nanite pulse generators do we have?"
"One long range. Five short."
"Get the five to the biggest hospitals that haven't been hit yet." Alex said before asking. "Any sign that chemical is in play?"
"No ma'am."
"But they could be holding it back." Cork said. "You know waiting for us to send in teams that might be effected."
"But we are happy to take that risk." Kepler said.
"I'm not. You've seen what it did to Supergirl and J'onn." Alex said.
"What if we split our squads?" Ruby asked. "Halve them and each half supports NCPD."
"Do it." Alex said as Rose turned back to them.
"Ma'am that was Meers. Supergirl just crashed."
