Our heroes are about to arrive on Sepedo Island for Davis to take on his next challenge in Pokemon Grand Challenge.
"There it is!" Davis said as they could see Sepedo Island coming up as they were all riding on a boat towards the island. "This is where our third challenge is, Imperialdramon. We're going to win it here."
"You better believe we are. I can't wait to see what kind of challenge this one is." Imperialdramon said.
"Juan said that the challenge on this island is simple yet poetic. What do you think he meant by that?" Tetsu questioned.
"I think we'll see soon enough." Cletus said. They soon arrived on an island and it appeared to be a rather small island with a large plateau in the center of it. "He said the person in charge of this point is named Val. I wonder where she could be?"
"She be up here!" They all looked up and could see a large pokemon flying right over their heads. They all saw something jump right off and landed right on the boat. It actually gave everyone a good scare with that entrance. That person was a girl with blonde hair tied over her shoulder. She wore a grey crop top with jean vest and wore green cargo shorts with black boots. "How's it going?! I'm Val!" That was quite an entrance.

(Davis' voice) Battle Triathlon
"Uh... You're Val?" Davis questioned as they were all taken back by that entrance of hers.
"That's right." Val said. "I saw you all coming and decided to come greet you. Are you all here to battle me?"
"I am!" Davis said. "My name is Davis. I came here to clear your challenge and earn myself the third Gem Pass."
"Third?! You already managed to get two of them?! Oh yeah!" Val cheered as she jumped right off the boat. "That means you got to be a tough trainer! I can't wait to see what you can do! I'm all set to go!" Val certainly seems to be restless and looks ready to go. Honestly, it had them all baffled with how she was.
"She's got an...eccentric personality." Cletus said.
"And I thought Davis was a little nuts." Tetsu said.
"Don't you think you should explain the rules. We don't know what we should do." Imperialdramon said.
"Oh yeah..." Val said as she felt a little embarrassed. "Sorry about that. I just love battling so much that I tend to get a little too excited. I've got a bad habit of putting my foot in my mouth."
"It's fine. I get like that myself." Davis said. "There's nothing better than a good and exciting battle."
"Oh great... Two peas in a nutty pod." Tetsu said as he didn't like how that was going to go.
"Here's how the rules of my challenge work." Val said. "We'll have three battles. The one with two wins will be the winner. Of course, it's not that regular. Our three battles we'll be taking place in three different locations. One in the sea, one on land, and one in the sky."
"Sea, land, and sky?" Davis questioned.
"That's right. It will make things more interesting." Val said. "You need one pokemon that can swim in the water and one that can fly. For the battle on land, it has to be a pokemon that can move on land, but does not fly."
"Three battles where Davis just needs to win two of them." Cletus said. "The theme of this challenge is quite interesting indeed. This must have been what Juan meant earlier."
"Luckily, you have pokemon that can do all of those." Tetsu said.
"Yeah. Whenever you are ready to go, Val, I'm ready." Davis said.
"Great. Let's go. Our first battle is going to take place in the water." Val said as the two of them were set for this battle. They moved to the site of the first battle and it was actually out in the water. Val and Davis stood on two rocks where they could face each other during this battle. "Here's where our first battle is going to take place. Remember, you need a pokemon that is suited for water. So, what pokemon will that be?"
"This one right here! Cloyster, I choose you!" Davis called.
"Cloyster!" Cloyster came out and splashed in the water.
"Cloyster... It might not move around that much in water, but I'll allow it." Val said as she was fine with the choice. "Here's the pokemon I'll be using! Let's go, Lanturn!" She called and made her choice.
"Lanturn!"
"Lanturn! Oh no! That could be a problem!" Cletus said as they all didn't like this knowing what kind of pokemon that is. Davis took out his pokedex and learned more about what he was up against.
"Lanturn, the Light Pokemon. A water and electric-type, and the evolve form of Chinchou. The light on its head can shine a blinding light that it can use it to create an opening for an electric attack."
"An electric-type might be a problem, but we'll battle either way!" Davis said. "Let's win this! Cloyster, start this battle off by using Ice Beam!" Cloyster started the battle as it unleashed a beam of ice, but Lanturn kept swimming around and kept avoiding the attacks.
"Lanturn, Thunderbolt and finish this here and now!" Val called with it unleashing the electrical attack.
"Iron Defense!" Davis called. Cloyster closed its shell and tried to block the attack, but that Thunderbolt still hit and was dealing some damage.
"Iron Defense might raise defensive power, but it can't protect Cloyster from those electric attacks." Cletus said.
"He's got to end this fast or there's no way that Cloyster is going to last that long." Imperialdramon said.
"Cloyster, Ice Shard!" Davis called. Cloyster tried fighting back as it unleashed shards of ice, but that Lanturn was too fast to land a clear hit. "No good! That Lanturn is too fast!"
"And your Cloyster is too slow! Lanturn, Confuse Ray!" Val called. Lanturn shined another bright light that affected Cloyster and got it all confused.
"Oh no! Cloyster, snap out of it! Use Iron Defense and raise your defensive power before Lanturn attacks again!" Davis called, but it was no good. Cloyster was just too confused.
"Thunderbolt!" Val called. Lanturn used the attack again and blasted Cloyster with Cloyster turning into a fried clam and it was knocked out of the battle.
"It looks like Cloyster lost this battle." Cletus said.
"That means that Davis lost the first battle, but it's not his fault. That Lanturn had the complete advantage." Tetsu said.
"Yeah! Yeah! Yay! Yay!" Val cheered as she danced around until she realized what she was doing in front of others. "I'm sorry about that. On to the next battle." They moved to the second battle that was happening on the land. If Davis' loses this battle, it means he loses the challenge. "Are you sure you don't want to back down? You lose here, you lose my challenge."
"Don't worry about me. I can handle anything." Davis said. "Here's the pokemon I'm using! I brought in a little help! Let's go, Hitmonlee!" He called as he chose his next pokemon.
"Hitmonlee!"
"Wow! Davis has a Hitmonlee!" Tetsu said.
"Hitmonlee's fierce kicks and jumping will be a big help." Imperialdramon said.
"A Hitmonlee... I think this will be another easy win for me. Dodrio, let's go!" Val called as she chose her pokemon.
"Aaaawwww!"
"What is that?" Davis said as he used his pokedex again.
"Dodrio, the Triple Bird Pokemon. A normal and flying-type, and the evolve form of Doduo. It can run distances without rest. It's three heads represent joy, sorrow, and anger."
"Hold on! You said our pokemon can't fly!" Davis said.
"Davis, take a good at it and use your head! Does it look like Dodrio can fly?!" Tetsu said.
"Dodrio can't fly, but it will win! Let's show them!" Val said. "Dodrio, Fury Attack!" Dodrio started the battle this time as it charged right at Hitmonlee.
"Dodge it, Hitmonlee!" Davis called. Hitmonlee tried moving around to avoid being attacked, but it was difficult as there were three heads and they were pecking at Hitmonlee rather fast and got pecked a few times. "Hitmonlee, Blaze Kick!" Hitmonlee fought back as his foot ignited in flames and kicked Dodrio right in his chest and knocked it back. "Now use Double Kick!" Hitmonlee charged at Dodrio and kicked against it a couple times.
"Dodrio, Tri Attack!" Val called. Each head of Dodrio opened its beak and fired a blast of fire, ice, and lightning with Hitmonlee getting blasted by all three as there was no way out.
"Dodrio is attacking using widespread attacks and making it difficult for Hitmonlee to dodge." Cletus said.
"That Dodrio is just so fast and strong. Davis better think of something or he's going to lose again." Tetsu said.
"I'm afraid this battle is already over. Dodrio, Aerial Ace!" Val said as she was aiming to end this battle. Dodrio charged right at Hitmonlee to end this attack.
"Jump!" Davis called. Hitmonlee jumped in the air and was barely able to avoid that Aerial Ace in time. Hitmonlee got some air and they were all amazed. "Great! Now use High Jump Kick!" Hitmonlee gathered power in its leg and smashed it right on the back of Dodrio with it looking like some serious damage was dealt there. When the dust cleared away, it showed that Dodrio was knocked out from that attack.
"Dodrio can't battle anymore!" Imperialdramon said as Davis' friends loved it.
"Yeah! Nice going, Hitmonlee!" Davis called as the two pounded it. "I knew it was the right call to bring you out here."
"Hitmonlee!"
"Pretty good, Davis." Val said as she brought back Dodrio. "The score is now tied one-to-one. The next battle will be what decides it. A battle in the sky...and it will be up there." She said as she pointed to the plateau of the island. It's the perfect spot for a battle in the sky.

The Plateau
Everyone moved up to the plateau for the final battle that will decide whether or not Davis will win this challenge or not. Since it's a battle to take place in the sky, they need a pokemon that can fly.
"Remember that you need a flying pokemon for this one, Davis." Val reminded.
"I'm ready." Imperialdramon said as he thought he was going to be the one to battle.
"No. There's someone else I want to use for this one. Someone I've been wanting to have a battle with for a while now." Davis said. "I choose you, Salamence!"
"Rrraaggghhhh!"
"Salamence! Hey buddy!" Imperialdramon called.
"I didn't know Davis had a Salamence! That's one impressive pokemon!" Tetsu said as he liked what he saw.
"A Salamence... That's one fierce pokemon, but this one can hold it's own in a battle. Fearow, let's go!" Val called.
"Row!"
"A Fearow... No disrespect, but that's not as impressive as a Salamence." Tetsu said.
"Maybe not, but that Fearow looks pretty healthy and strong. I have a feeling this one won't be so easy to beat." Cletus said.
"Well, I'm ready to win this! Salamence, let's do this! Give them a taste of your Dragon Claw!" Davis called. Salamence started this battle as it took to the sky and flew straight at Fearow with dragon energy flowing into its claw.
"Dodge it!" Val called. Just as Salamence swung it's claw, Fearow flew away and flew with incredible speed. That surely surprised Davis and the others. "Sorry, but you won't beat my Fearow's speed so easily. Fearow, Steel Wing!" She called. Fearow hardened its wings and smashed them right against Salamence.
"It's going to take more than that if you want to beat my Salamence! Try Dragon Claw again and nail that Fearow!" Davis called. Salamence tried chasing after Fearow as Salamence kept using its claws to attack, but Fearow was too fast for Salamence to land a decisive blow.
"I told you that you won't be able to catch my Fearow that easily. Fearow, give them a U-Turn barrage!" Val called. Fearow flew straight at Salamence once again and smashed against Salamence. It didn't stop there. Fearow turned straight around and kept the attacks going.
"I never knew U-Turn could be used like that!" Tetsu said.
"Normally, U-Turn would return the pokemon to it's pokeball, but a battle like this would mean it's pointless." Cletus said. "She found a way to improve with it."
"Break out of there, Salamence! Use Flamethrower!" Davis called. Salamence tried to fight back as it breathed out flames, but Fearow kept avoiding each attack. "Don't just aim recklessly! Try and follow Fearow's movements!" Salamence tried keeping its eyes on Fearow and follow it's movements. When it thinks it has it, Salamence tried Flamethrower again, but just barely missed. However, it did throw Fearow off balance. "Now is our chance! Give them your Hyper Beam!"
"Rrrraaaarrrgggghhhh!" Salamence fired it's best attack and unleashed it upon Fearow.
"Use Whirlwind!" Val called. Fearow was able to regain its balance and generated a powerful gust of wind. It acted like a shield as it was able to hold back against the Hyper Beam.
"No way! Whirlwind could be used like that?!" Tetsu said.
"Ingenious! Now Salamence won't be able to move for a while!" Cletus said.
"Now is our chance use Drill Peck!" Val called. Fearow started spinning like a drill and headed straight for Salamence. Fearow grinded right against Salamence with Salamence taking some serious damage and was being pushed back. It wasn't looking good for Salamence there. "That's it! We've got them now!"
"No way! Don't underestimate my Salamence!" Davis said. "Salamence, you've been wanting to fly since you were a Bagon! Don't lose in your own element!" He encouraged and it appeared to have worked as Salamence was able to fight back and push Fearow away. "That's what I'm talking about! Flamethrower!" Salamence breathed out flames and blasted against Fearow with some serious damage being dealt.
"Get out of there!" Val called. Fearow tried breaking away from the flames and tried flying, but Fearow appeared to be in pain and was moving much slower.
"What's with Fearow?" Tetsu questioned.
"Look there!" Cletus said as he spotted an injury right on Fearow's wing. "Fearow's wing is injured! It can't fly like it did."
"Now use Dragon Claw!" Davis said. Salamence was able to catch Fearow and get right over it. Salamence slashed its claw right against Fearow and knocked Fearow right out of the sky and crashed into the ground. All of them took a good look and saw Fearow was knocked out. That means Davis won two battles. "Yeah! We won!" Davis cheered with Salamence flying down and nuzzling against Davis. "You were incredible, Salamence! I knew I could count on you!" With help from his old pokemon, Davis pulled out another win and was being awared his pass.
"That was some great battling, Davis. You really know your stuff. Here's proof that you cleared my challenge. This is the Diamond Pass." Val said as she handed over another pass designed after a diamond crystal.
"Thanks, Val. Yeah! I got my third pass: the Diamond Pass!" Davis cheered.
"Yeah/Rraagh/Cloyster/Lee!"
"That's your third pass. That means you only need one more." Tetsu said.
"If I recall, the last pass you need is...the Pearl Pass!" Cletus said.
"The Pearl Pass?! You'll find the challenge for that one on Starlie Island." Val pointed out.
"Thanks, Val. Only one more pass to go now." Davis said as he was getting pumped.
Now that he's earned his third pass, Davis only has one more challenge to go before he can take on the head of Pokemon Grand Orientation. With only one challenge left, you can bet it's going to be tough and exciting. Don't miss a moment of it.
