Our heroes hurry as fast as they could to Pennsila City for Cletus was told that there was some sort of situation at his family gym.
"Hurry! We're almost there!" Cletus said as he was leading the way and they all ran as fast as they could to the gym.
"Cletus, what do you think is going on?" Davis questioned.
"I'm not sure, but it sounds like it's something important. I've been wanting to return home, but not something like this." Cletus said as he was most worried. "I just hope there's nothing too serious going on." Once they saw his gym was in sight, Cletus ran straight for the door. "Dad! Clyde!" He busted right through the door and was expecting something bad, but it wasn't that at all. It all looked rather normal for a restaurant.
"Uh... This doesn't look like it's some sort of emergency." Tetsu said.
"Uh... I'm home..." Cletus said as he wasn't sure what else to say after just barging in. What exactly is the problem with the gym?
So you want to be Master of Pokemon
Do you have the skills to be Number One
I wanna take the ultimate step
Find the courage to be bold
To risk it all and not forget the lessons that I hold
I wanna go where no one's been

Learn the way to take command
Use the power that's in my hand

(Davis' voice) Where We Say Farewell
"Cletus! You're home!" Clyde said as he went to greet his brother.
"Cletus! Good to see you again!" Cletus' father said. "Davis and Tetsu, good to see you as well. Glad you're here because we could use a little help with the tables. I'm sure you and your friends are hungry as well." They're all acting like everything is normal, but this makes no sense to them.
"Hold on! I came back because I was told there was some sort of situation at the gym!" Cletus said. They had a feeling he might say something like that.
"Yes. I'm afraid we do have a situation." That was when Nurse Joy stepped forward.
"Nurse Joy? What are you doing here?" Tetsu said.
"Let me make something clear. I'm not the Nurse Joy that works here in Pennsila City." Nurse Joy said as she pulled out a government badge. "I work for the Pokemon Investigation Agency." When Cletus saw that, he knew that it was trouble.
"The what?" Davis questioned.
"They basically investigate gyms to make sure they are operating well and are functioning by the rules that all gyms have to follow in order to stay open." Tetsu explained.
"Which means her being isn't good for the gym." Imperialdramon understood.
"I don't understand. What's a member of PIA doing here? What exactly is the problem with our gym?" Cletus questioned.
"The problem is that this gym doesn't seem to have an official gym leader anymore." Nurse Joy said. A gym without a gym leader? Cletus wanted to know more about this matter, so they went to discuss this matter in private. Nurse Joy explained to them that the gym doesn't seem to have an official leader because there's some sort of mix-up.
"I don't understand. When I left the gym, I left Clyde in charge. He was the one to fulfill the gym leader obligations." Cletus said.
"Yes, but we are receiving reports that you are still the gym leader, Cletus." Nurse Joy informed, but that made no sense to him.
"I don't get it. How can I still be the gym leader when I left Clyde in charge?" Cletus said.
"I can answer that." Cletus' father said as he stepped forward. "The reason is well... It's because of your mother, Cletus." Cletus' mother is the cause of this? If his other parent is involved and the cause of this, there must be some sort of problem. Knowing his mother was responsible for this, Cletus knew he had to talk to her.
...
The Office
"Mom!" Cletus called as he arrived at her office and went right on inside. "Mom, I'm home."
"Just second." His mother said as she was in the middle of putting up a portrait of herself. "There we go. It really gives the feeling that this is the boss' office." She then turned around to see her son. His mother looked like a serious business woman with her wearing a power suit and had pixie-cut with blonde highlights. "Cletus! You're home!" She said as she went over to her son and hugged him. "Look at you. Have you been eating well? What about little Sandile? I heard you have it fully evolved now."
"Mom, I'm fine." Cletus said as he got her to look at him. "Mom, what is this about? The PIA is here and they're saying there's some sort of mix-up. They're saying I'm still the gym leader when I left Clyde in charge of the gym."
"That? It's nothing. Now that you're home, you can resume your responsibilities as gym leader and help run the restaurant." His mother said.
"Mom, I can't go back to being gym leader just like that." Cletus said.
"Of course you can." His mother said as she got to work on some paper. "It's obvious this journey of yours is over, so you can resume being gym leader."
"But what if I don't want to?" Cletus questioned. That seemed to be the big question that triggered something.
...
The Gym
While Cletus was trying to deal with his mother, everyone else went to the back of the gym. They were in the house where all the pokemon for the gym was being used and saw all the pokemon looked healthy and well.
"Cletus will be glad to see all the pokemon he left here are still in good shape." Davis said.
"You better believe it. I've taken good care of all his other pokemon since he left, and I've been doing my best to keep this gym running." Clyde said.
"Nurse Joy, is the only problem with this gym really that there's not a clear gym leader?" Tetsu asked.
"Basically. I had a look around the rest of the gym while I was here." Nurse Joy claimed. "The only problem is that we don't have a clear indication as to who the current gym leader really is. Many trainers say that Clyde has been upholding the position, but we keep getting reports that Cletus is the one running this gym. That's why I came down here. I need this to be cleared up. If there's no official gym leader properly running this gym, I'm afraid it's not good."
"I don't get it. Why is Cletus' mother claiming he's the gym leader when he's been with us the whole time?" Imperialdramon questioned.
"Well, my wife has always been set in her ways." Cletus's father claimed as he fed the pokemon. "Dominique has always been a busy woman. It's not easy running a gym and a restaurant, but that woman finds ways to make it work. That's why she wasn't here when Cletus left, but I have a feeling there's more to it than that." All of them wondered what he meant, but that was when Cletus came walking in.
"How did it go?" Davis asked.
"Let me guess. Mom didn't exactly go along with it." Clyde said.
"Nope." Cletus said.
"Didn't you tell her you don't want to run the gym anymore and that Clyde can handle it?" Davis questioned.
"It was one of those situations where your mother gives you a look and you just can't say no to her." Cletus shamefully admitted with all of them understanding what that was like. "I don't know what I'm going to do. I want to keep going on journeys, but I can't run the gym while I'm doing that. I don't understand why she's doing this."
"How about Tetsu and I talk to her?" Davis suggested. "If we tell her what a big help you were to us on our journey, she might reconsider."
"It's worth a shot." Imperialdramon said.
"Yeah. Maybe we can convince her." Tetsu said. It certainly couldn't hurt, but Cletus had his doubts knowing how determined and stubborn his mother could be.
...
Dominique's Office
Dominique tried to continue on with her work as it seemed like the matter was resolved to her and that Cletus would continue being gym leader. That was when Davis knocked on the door and the others came in.
"Excuse me, ma'am. Can we talk to you?" Tetsu said.
"We're friends of Cletus. We were traveling with him." Davis said.
"Oh! You're the friends he was traveling with! Please come in!" Dominique offered and allowed all of them to come in. "It's so nice I finally get to meet you boys. I'm sorry I wasn't around when you all left, but I had an important meeting I had to be at."
"It's fine, but that's actually what we want to talk to you about." Tetsu said.
"Yeah. It's about how you're making Cletus continue being the gym leader. He left his brother in charge of it." Davis said. "Don't you think Clyde does a pretty good job running the gym himself?"
"Of course, but Cletus was the original gym leader. You can't just resign like that." Dominique said.
"He didn't really resign, but he wanted to go on a journey like many trainers." Tetsu said.
"And he's been a big help to us." Davis said. "He was a great cook, helped us take good care of our pokemon, and he helped us find our way around."
"That's all nice to hear, but I'm afraid it's over now and he's coming back to where he should be." Dominique claimed.
"But his father and brother were supportive when he left." Imperialdramon pointed out.
"After his gym battle with Davis, Cletus was inspired to go on this journey." Tetsu said. "He wanted to learn more about trainers and pokemon, see more of what the world can offer, and he still wants to keep doing that."
"It's also not fair to Cletus. He had a lot of fun and we had a lot of fun with him." Davis said. "You can't just say he's going to be gym leader again when he doesn't want to be." They're trying to get their point across with her, but she just stood straight up and she looked rather upset with them.
"Let me make one thing clear. No one is keeping my son from me!" Dominique claimed. "He is my boy, I hardly saw him enough because of how busy I was, and then just leaves on this journey when I didn't even get to say goodbye! He is coming home and that's final!" She claimed and just stormed out of there, but they saw it looked like she was about to cry. When that happened, none of them were sure what to say.
"I feel like I just got kicked in the gut." Davis said as they all feel really bad about what just happened. The three of them just walked out of there and met up with Nurse Joy and Cletus.
"What happened? I thought heard yelling." Cletus asked.
"She misses you, Cletus." Davis admitted.
"This isn't about wanting you to run the gym again. She just misses you and wants you home." Tetsu said and that got Cletus feeling bad for her.
"Oh my... I could understand that. I guess she thought claiming you were still the gym leader would give you an excuse to come home." Nurse Joy figured. Now that he knows what's going on, Cletus might have an idea on what to do about this.
...
Dominique
Dominique needed a moment to cool down. That's why she stepped outside and got some air and tried gathering her thoughts together. Cletus let her do just that before walking out to her.
"Mom... Are you okay?" Cletus asked, but she didn't really answer. "Mom, my friends told me what you said. Is that was this is all really about? Do you really just want me to come home?" She still refused to answer, but it looked like he was hitting the nail on the head. "Mom, just talk to me. Tell me the truth."
"Of course I want you home!" Dominique cried as she turned to them. "Cletus, you left without even saying goodbye to me. I had to hear about it from your father and your brother. Do you know how that might have made me feel? I've been so busy running a business and a gym that it seems I drove my son away!"
"Mom, it wasn't like that." Cletus said as he took her hands. "I left because I wanted to expand myself. It had nothing to do with you. I wanted to see more of the world, see more pokemon, and learn more about everything I could. I'm sorry I left without seeing you, but my friends had to get going and I wanted to go with them. I'm sorry if what I did upset you. Still, naming me gym leader just so I could come home wasn't the way to do that. You know that, right?"
"Yes, but..." Dominique said as it was hard for any mother to be away from their child.
"I don't want to give up on my journey just yet, but this is still my home." Cletus said. "You're still my mother. Even if I'm not here, it's not going to change."
"You're... You're right..." Dominique said. "As much as I want you home, I know I can't stop you from going on journeys. It's not fair to you, and it wouldn't be fair of me to ask you to do what I simply wanted. It's just not easy for a mother not being able to see her own child when it seemed like we were always close."
"I know, but everything is going to be okay. I promise." Cletus said as he hugged his mother to assure her nothing was going to go wrong. It certainly did feel nice for Dominique to hold her son. As for Cletus' friends and Nurse Joy, they saw things unfold and liked what they saw.
"So, is everything okay with the gym?" Davis asked.
"I can't fault a mother for missing her child. I'm sure this matter can be resolved." Nurse Joy claimed. As Cletus separated from his mother, he spotted his friends.
"Davis! Tetsu!" Cletus called as the friends joined together. "As much fun as we had on our journey, I think I need to stay here until things clear up. Once they do, I'll hit the road again."
"And I think it's time I go back to my gym and become the official leader." Tetsu said. "Davis, what are you and Imperialdramon going to do?"
"I still don't know." Davis said as he was still undecisive. "I guess... I guess we'll just go back to Kanto until we figure out our next move."
"Which means... I think the time has come for us to part ways." Cletus said. None of them liked it, but they all knew this was bound to happen at some point. The time to say goodbye.
...
The Docks
After getting that whole mess in Pennsila City resolved, they all headed for the nearest port. The ship that was leaving for Kanto was set to go. With the sun setting, it was finally time for the traveling companions to part ways. They even unleashed all of their pokemon so they could say their goodbyes.
"Well... This is it..." Davis said.
"You guys were great. We really appreciate all that you did for us while we were here." Imperialdramon said.
"I never met anyone like the two of you before." Cletus said. "Hopefully, we'll see each other again."
"Yeah. It was a lot of fun." Tetsu said as he was trying not to cry at this moment.
"Tetsu, are you about to cry?" Davis teased.
"No! Some water splashed against me!" Tetsu said. Despite that, the three of them held out their hands and placed them together to symbolize their friendship in hopes they'll see each other again. Their pokemon also managed to say their own farewells. Then, the boat sounded that it was about to leave and Davis and Imperialdramon had to leave. Once they were on, all of them waved farewell.
"Bye, Davis! Bye Imperialdramon!" Cletus called.
"We won't forget you guys!" Tetsu called as they all kept the goodbyes going.
"We won't forget you guys either!" Imperialdramon called.
"Tetsu! Cletus! Thanks for everything!" Davis called as they got further and further apart. He wasn't just saying goodbye to his friends, he said farewell to Centros as well. His time there has finally come to an end.
As he parts ways with the friends he traveled with, Davis' journey in Centros has finally come to an end. Now that it's over, there is only one thing left unanswered. What is Davis going to do now?
