As Kara waited for her daughter to get ready for their shopping trip her phone rang. Seeing it was her sister she answered.

"Hey Alex, what's up?"

"I know you are off with Alex, but I thought you'd like to know Thorn has woken up."

"When? Has she said anything?"

"She said she'll only talk to you." Alex said.

"What aren't you telling me?"

"She implied if you don't talk to her Alex will get hurt. I'm pretty sure it is an empty threat, but thought you should know."

"I'll be there in a few minutes." She said ending the call before turning to face her daughter who had come out of her room.

"I'm sorry." She said to the teen.

"Just go."

"Alex, let me explain."

"It's fine. Just go." The teen said sounding uncharacteristically stroppy.

"Not when you are like this. I know you are disappointed, but I'll be back soon."

"What's the point?"

"What's wrong with you?" Kara asked.

"When you want to do something we all have to do it, but when I want to do something it's a flat no."

"Like what?" Kara asked not sure where the outburst was coming from.

"Pretty sure it is impossible for you to get amnesia, but here we are." The teen said.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Kara asked lost.

"Whatever." The teenager said storming out of the apartment.

00

"You okay?" The older Alex asked when Kara entered the DEO.

"No."

"What's wrong?"

"I don't know. I upset Alex and then she whatever'ed me."

"She may be disappointed, which why I wasn't going to tell you about Thorn." Alex said.

"Let's just get this over with so I can go back to Alex. Or at least find Alex."

"I'll help you find her." Alex said.

"What are you doing here anyway?" Kara asked.

"You think I wouldn't be here?" Alex asked confused.

"I meant already at the DEO."

"I got called in as soon as Thorn showed signs of waking up."

"How long have you been here?"

"Since four." Her sister said. "It's been a long morning." She confessed. "We are just about set up. Come with me."

As Supergirl entered the infirmary with Alex, Ms Thorn looked over at the pair.

"You really are dumb." Thorn said from her bed. "I mean walking into a trap once is dumb, but twice? That was always a risk, how much of your brain would remain. It appears none."

"What do you want?" Supergirl asked.

"To see if it worked."

"Well Supergirl wasn't even connected when it activated." Alex said.

"You government people always so narrow minded."

"What-" Kara started to ask.

"She's messing with you." Alex said before looking at Thorn. "Supergirl is here, now tell us what we want to know."

"I'm not going to talk. I just wanted to see your face when you realised you were going to lose your daughter." Thorn said looking at Supergirl.

"You are locked in the DEO. You have been for weeks. If anyone was going to help you they would have done." Alex said.

"Yet Supergirl came here." Thorn said before muttering something.

"What?" Alex asked.

"I can't make it out either." Supergirl said stepping towards Thorn who clenched her jaw and breathed out smiling.

"Yeah, that's not going to work." Alex said to the confused looking Thorn. "This is just a hologram." She explained putting her hand through her sister's image. "Got the idea from you." She paused and said. "So whatever you breathed out, the chemical I assume, won't harm Supergirl." Alex stated. "Against my better judgment Supergirl suggested I gave you a pass on that, if you tell us what we want."

"Don't worry I'll talk. Any prisoner I see I'll tell them who Kara is, who Alex is."

"You seem to have mistaken this for Federal prison." Alex said. "You don't talk to other prisoners here." She added before signalling the doctor by Thorn who sedated her.

"For the record, we shouldn't sedate a recently recovered coma patient without tests." The doctor said.

"For the record I don't care." Alex said. "Okay everyone you know the drill, everything in this room, including us has to go through decontamination."

00

"I knew she was going to do something, but going full Dune?" Kara said when her sister finally appeared in the observation room. "Was there really the chemical in the tooth?"

"Yes. And there may well be more traps." Alex said.

"She was right she knows a lot and can do harm in other ways."

"Just because J'onn can't read her mind, doesn't mean he can't wipe it." Alex pointed out.

"I love the way you ignore ethics to protect me, but not sure you can, I mean she knows stuff we need to know."

"I know." Alex said. "Sorry your Saturday got ruined for this."

"Well maybe Alex will forgive me, although she'd actually need to answer my texts for that."

"Want us to find her?"

"No. That will just freak her out more." Kara said as Rose approached.

"Ma'am. Lobo has just been sighted."

"Of course he has." Supergirl said wearily. "Where is he?"

"In the desert, he has a hostage."

"Who?"

"No idea. Looks like he just randomly picked a guy off the street, while demanding you meet him."

"You think this is linked to Thorn?" Kara asked her sister.

"Timing is a pretty big coincidence, but I don't see how it can be." Alex mused. "Perhaps we should send another hologram."

"I'll go." Kara said. "If we send a hologram he'll probably kill the hostage."

"Hey Alex." Steve said when he saw the teen sitting on a bench at the harbour, staring at the boats. Not getting a response his nephew moved closer to her and called.

"Alex!"

"Martin?" She asked turning.

"You okay?" Steve asked immediately noticing she looked upset.

"I'm fine."

"I thought you were hanging out with your mom?" Martin said.

"No. We had a fight."

"In which case we were about to get some lunch, want to join us?" Steve suggested.

"I'm not very hungry."

"Before you say no, it is about to pour down with rain, so you could just sit at our nice dry table while we binge." Steve suggested.

"You'd be saving me. Steve found a Dad Joke book this morning and won't stop telling terrible, terrible jokes." Martin chipped in.

"They are good jokes." Steve said. "But if Alex comes with us I'll stop."

"See you have to come." Martin said.

"Okay." Alex said standing.

00

"Hey Skirt." Lobo grinned as Supergirl landed in front of him.

"What do you want?" Kara asked.

"More than you could imagine." He said lighting his cigar. "But right now I need you dead."

"What's with the hostage?" Kara asked ignoring the comment as she stared at a young man cowering by a rock..

"Something to get your attention. Plus a witness."

"Witness for what?"

"Your death." Lobo grinned.

"Aren't you meant to be protecting Alex?" Supergirl asked.

"That's kinda dull so took up new work. Don't worry, Mini Lobo will be safe."

"Mini Lobo?" Supergirl asked.

"After I kill yer, she'll need a dad." He grinned. "That way I can protect her." He added as Supergirl noticed all the drones hovering nearby, cameras and sensors pointed at her. "Don't worry about those. Or do worry about those. Don't really care."

"Why are they here?" Supergirl asked.

"I need the world to see you croaked. You can put on a show if you want. Make me look good." He grinned round the cigar.

"Are you doing drugs?" Supergirl asked.

"Just drink. But funny you should say drugs." Lobo grinned. "I kinda like humans. Dumb as they are they always find new ways to maim, croak and hate. My kinda losers. And like me they like chemistry. Like me they want you dead." He said before walking towards Supergirl and asking. "Easy or hard?"

"What?" Supergirl asked moments before Lobo's fist hit her face sending her flying backwards.

Before she had time to respond Lobo was looming over her kicking her, with enough force she felt her ribs crack.

Using her superspeed she flew out of range and tried to get her breath back.

"Forgot to say, you run, I go for mini-Supes." He grinned menacingly. "Also, your friends can help. But I am in a killing mood." He said approaching Supergirl once more who looked around for anything that would give her an advantage.

Seeing nothing she prepared herself for Lobo's next onslaught. This time parrying blows before kneeing him in the groin. As he dropped to his knees Supergirl took the cigar from his mouth and crushed it under her boot.

"That was a Metish. You have any idea how expensive they are?" He asked looking enraged before propelling himself towards Supergirl, who despite her cracked ribs, managed to dodge the blows before throwing her own punch, only this time Lobo caught her fist in his large hand, before squeezing hard. With her hand trapped she couldn't escape as his other hand grabbed her arm and flipped her over, wrenching her should as he did so.

Gasping in pain, Kara tried to put distance between her and lobo, but as she got to her feet she felt a sharp pain in her back before spasming and falling to her knees, then as the spasms kept racking her body as she fell to the ground.

Finding her self paralysed on the ground she saw Lobo's shadow move into view before the bounty hunter himself was in her eyeline.

"Gotta luv the sparky stuff." He said putting the suped up taser gun away. "You should be able to move in a minute, well you would if yer weren't dead." He said drawing a large blade. "Like I was saying. Gotta love the blood thirsty humans and their chemicals. Have to wonder if my genes ended up here." He said kicking Kara once more, who still couldn't move, but under the force of Lobo's kick her body rolled over. "It wasn't quite there, but for a bunch of vermin, they got close." He said moving the blade closer to Kara. As it got closer she felt nauseous and pain spread through her body. "I finished it. Made it deadly and, more importantly painful." He said driving the blade into Kara's torso.

As burning pain shot through her body Kara couldn't focus on anything despite Lobo's attempt to be in her face. Seeing his blurred face Kara had some awareness of her inability to breathe and started to gasp like a fish out of water.

"So long skirt." Lobo smiled removing the blade as Kara went limp. "This part, is the most painful." He said noticing the tear run down Kara's face as her skin turned her white and her lips bluely grey.

"Bet you wished you joined me now." He laughed kicking her once more. This time Kara's body was limp. Crouching down he said. "It's been fun." He then lifted Supergirl's lifeless body effortlessly into the air and looked at the cameras before grinning.

"Your hero is dead. Time to worship the main man." He grinned, allowing all the cameras to record the scene.

Enjoying his moment she dragged the lifeless body to his terrified hostage.

"She alive?" He asked the man.

"What?" The man said through a trembling voice.

"Is she alive?" Lobo asked.

"Um…"

"Test." Lobo snarled.

Terrified he put his hand on Supergirl'c cold lifeless skin.

"No … no pulse." The man said.

"Croaked it is." Lobo smiled.

As Steve, Martin and Alex walked towards the restaurant, the rain starting to fall, they heard what sounded like gunfire in the distance.

"What was that?" Martin asked.

"No idea, but let's get off the street." Steve said leading them away from the alarms and screams. "The car's over here." He added guiding them towards the road, every so often looking back to make sure there wasn't danger coming from behind.

Not seeing the curb Steve put his foot down and immediately went over on his ankle and fell to the ground in pain.

"Steve!" Martin said coming to a stop and going back to his uncle.

"I'm fine." Steve said before seeing a van swerving down the street. "Go get out of here." He ordered. Ignoring him the two teens tried to help him up. "Go." He said once more causing Alex to turn and see the van. As the van hurtled towards them Alex knew she had no choice and erected a forcefield causing the van to come to an abrupt halt a couple of metres from them.

"Did you do that?" Martin asked.

"I'm sorry." Alex said before sprinting off.

"Alex! Wait." Martin called but she was already lost in the crowd.

As the teenage Alex ran through the crowded streets she saw a large screen on a wall, with everyone crowded round looking on in shock. Glancing at the screen she saw her mother's lifeless body, being held aloft by Lobo.
