A/N: Thanks for the reviews.

Baratta jennifer - Thanks, hopefully there won't be any long gaps for a while

"How was Argo?" Alex asked when her sister stepped through the portal a few days later.

"Okay, I guess."

"Any answers?"

"No. Yes. Maybe."

"Let's go to my office." Alex said leading her out of the portal room.

"Is Alex okay?" Kara asked as they walked through the DEO.

"She's fine. Mom has been spoiling both of them. But she is looking forward to seeing you." Her sister said as they entered her office. As they sat down Alex slid a box of doughnuts across her desk at her sister. When Kara didn't take one Alex asked.

"What happened on Argo?"

"My mother recognised some of the work as projects my father worked on. So we went to the lab and all of the marked pages were from his work. But those particular pages were failed projects."

"Any connection between the projects."

"No."

"But?"

"My father's work wasn't exactly all squeaky clean was it? Maybe what it is recorded as being used for isn't what it was planned for."

"It could also be a distraction." Alex reminded her.

"Here is a list of the projects and what their purpose was. Or at least the purpose I was told about." Kara said handing her sister several sheets of paper.

"I will have the team here look at them." Alex said.

"Do you have any more information about when the journals were marked by my family crest?"

"No, we still can't age the ink and General Lane is being obstructive." Alex said. "But we'll figure it out." She added before looking at the untouched box of doughnuts and suggesting.

"Why don't you get the kids?"

As Kara flew to Midvale she heard her daughter's heartbeat and followed it to the beach. Landing behind her she called.

"Hey."

"Mom?" Alex asked before jumping up and hugging her.

"I've missed you so much." Kara said hugging her daughter tightly.

"Missed you too." The teen said hugging her mother just a tightly as Chewie ran up to them and jumped up against their legs.

"Missed you too." Kara said looking down at the dog before finally releasing her daughter. "You okay?"

"I'm fine. What about you? And how was Alura?"

"She's fine, misses you though." Kara said guiding her daughter to her house as they reached it MJ and Eliza walked towards them.

"Hi Sweetie." Eliza said hugging her. "You okay?"

"I'm fine." Kara smiled before looking at her nephew and asking. "Do I get a hug from you?"

"I have a choice?" He asked before hugging her.

"So you guys ready to go home?" Kara asked pulling away. "Your mom has really missed you." She added looking at MJ.

"Can't we have dinner here?" Alex asked.

"Why don't I take MJ back first, then I'll come back, we can have dinner here then we'll go home?" Kara suggested to her daughter.

"Okay." Her daughter agreed.

"Great, then I'll be back soon." Kara said before flying off with MJ.

"Where's Alex?" Kara asked Eliza when she returned to Midvale.

"Walking Chewie, she should be back soon. How are you doing?"

"Okay."

"Very convincing." Eliza said. "What's wrong? Is Alura ill again?"

"No, she's fine. It's not that."

"Then what is it?" Eliza pressed.

"We discovered another possible connection between my father and all things bad."

"Could it have been planted to make you lose faith?"

"Maybe." Kara said. "But there is no way to know for sure. And what if it wasn't a plant? What if my father was bad? What does that make me?"

"Kara you are the kindest person I have ever met. Your heart is so full of good and love." Eliza said. "And remember, even if your fears do prove true, there are always at least two sides to every story."

"I guess." Kara said.

"Also, everything probably seems worse because you missed Alex." Eliza said.

"I did miss her." Kara agreed as they heard the door open moments before Chewie charged into the room and jumped up on Kara.

"I missed you too." Kara said to Chewie as her daughter said.

"Pretty sure he is after food not affection."

"Don't be so cynical." Kara said as Eliza stood and said.

"Dinner will be ready in twenty minutes, I'll let you catch up." As she walked to the kitchen, the teenage Alex sat next to her mother and asked.

"What's wrong?"

"What do you mean?"

"You seem sad."

"I just missed you." Kara said hugging her.

"Any plans for today?" Kara asked the two teens the next morning.

"Enjoy my last few days of freedom." MJ said.

"You not looking forward to school?" Kara asked.

"No." MJ said.

"The other kids may have forgotten." The teenage Alex said.

"They haven't." MJ said as the front door opened moments before a familiar voice called.

"Hi."

"Kara?" The older Alex asked confused before hugging her daughter. "What are you doing here?"

"Bad weather started to move in so we came back last night."

"Everything okay?" Her mother asked pulling away.

"It's fine."

"So how was the trip?" The older Kara asked before hugging her niece.

"It was nice. And no invasions or kidnappings or crazy drill sergeants." She listed.

"And you found that fun? It's like you are no longer part of this family." MJ said.

"So where is Diz?" The older Kara asked.

"Getting supplies."

"For what?"

"We are going to the new indoor adventure centre just out of the city."

"The one with climbing, karting and laser quest?" MJ listed.

"Yes." His sister said before offering. "You two want to come with us?"

"Yes." The duo said enthusiastically before the teenage Alex looked at her mother and said. "Unless you want to-"

"Go." The older Kara said.

"Thanks." Her daughter said hugging her.

"Did you want to come?" Her niece offered.

"Yes, but I have work." The older Kara said.

"Has Thorn said anything?" Kara asked her sister as they reviewed the latest reports at the DEO.

"Still silence."

"Any one try to rescue her?"

"Nope."

"Then maybe it is over." Kara said.

"Except the city's sewage shows plenty of evidence of drugs." Alex said.

"So don't want to know how you know that. But could that be a plant to toy with us, I mean no one is out there using powers. I mean they are, but they are normal metas." Kara said. "Could some one just be flushing the drugs?"

"We've not considered it, but it will be easy enough to test we can-"

"Yeah, I don't need details." Kara said. "But even if this was just to toy with us, what about Malaise and Jess? They have to be somewhere? And tattoo guy, even if he hasn't got Tycho in him, where is he?"

"Unfortunately the world is a big place, it is easy to hide. No matter what the media implies we don't have eyes everywhere."

"Can't we use the Marshalls' service?"

"The Marshalls?" Alex asked.

"Yeah, I mean that's what they do right? You know find people."

"Umm yeah, but … wait, what did you watch last night?"

"Justified and you were right I should have watched it thirty years ago." Kara said. "But my point is, can't they help?"

"I guess." Alex said. "I mean they are better equipped for man hunts."

"And if they find something I can go back them up." Kara added.

"I'll talk to them." Alex said. "But they can't help with Jess. I mean we have nothing to go on."

"How's J'onn's investigation going?" Kara asked.

"About as well as ours." Alex sighed. "What about the Cam search?"

"Dead end after dead end. But I still think Cam is the key."

"Then let's focus on that."

"Really?" Kara asked.

"Yes."

"You don't want to focus on Jess?"

"Yes, but we don't know who she is, if she is a she, or what they look like. Cam we do. We know more about Cam than any of the others, let's start there." Alex said

"Hi." The older Alex greeted as she entered the house that evening.

"Hi." The younger Kara called back from the couch where she was sitting with Diz.

"Did you lose the other two?"

"No, they are upstairs with Martin." Her daughter explained.

"You two staying for dinner?" Alex asked.

"Are you cooking?" Her daughter asked.

"I was thinking take out, so it is safe."

"Want me to collect it?" Diz offered.

"Sure." Alex said.

"I'll be back soon." He said leaving the house.

"Should I be worried?" Alex asked her daughter.

"About what?"

"Diz suddenly disappearing, you looking serious."

"I just wanted to check that you were okay." Her daughter said.

"I'm fine." Alex said. "You really don't need to worry about me."

"So you were okay last week by yourself?"

"I wasn't by myself. I had your aunt."

"She went to Argo." Her daughter reminded her.

"Well I also had Lena and J'onn." Alex reminded her. "Right now you need to worry about yourself. College years are meant to be fun."

"They are."

"But?"

"I miss you guys."

"And I miss you so much." Alex said hugging her. "But you don't need to worry about me." She added as they heard thumps coming downstairs.

"Everything okay?" Alex asked releasing her daughter and looking at her son who had come into the kitchen.

"No, I'm starving." He said going to a cupboard.

"Food will be here soon." Alex said. "Don't ruin your appetite."

"I won't." He said opening some potato chips. As he started to eat he looked from his sister to his mother and asked. "Everything okay?"

"It's fine." Alex said. "But you had better eat your dinner."

"Did someone say dinner?" The older Kara asked walking into the house.

"It is being picked up as we speak." Her sister said.

"Wait, who has gone to pick up the food?" Kara asked frowning.

"Diz." The younger Kara answered.

"Thank Rao."

"Why?"

"I thought you were going to say Alex and that would have involved vegetables." The older Kara said taking some potato chips from MJ.

"How come you are back so late?" Alex asked her sister.

"Fire down town." She said taking more chips. "So what are we doing tonight?"

"I assumed we were being thrown out after dinner." Alex said looking at the teens.

"So sisters' night?" Kara suggested.

-00-

"What's on your mind?" Alex asked her sister later that night.

"What if this is all connected to my father? I mean it isn't just the virus it is? It is Worldkiller-1 as well. And all his research in the journals."

"It is just as likely someone got access to your father's research." Alex said.

"But who? I mean the only ones who could are Kryptonians. So even if it isn't my family it is my species."

"I don't think you can assume responsibility for your entire species." Alex said. "Well obviously you will try, but you shouldn't."

"Why not? Humans blame me for the other Worldkillers."

"Do you blame me for Tycho or Lex?" Alex asked.

"No."

"Then don't take responsibility for all Kryptonians." Alex argued. When Kara didn't say anything she added. "Your stubbornness is your most annoying super power."

"Not as bad as yours. And did you just call me annoying?"

"No I called your stubbornness annoying." Alex said.

"Fine, right back at you." Kara countered.

"I'm not stubborn, I'm strong willed." Alex pointed out.

"Uh huh." Kara said.
