"Hey Alex are you okay?" The older Kara asked answering her call from her daughter. "And how are you calling from within school?"
"It was an emergency." The teen said.
"What's wrong?" Kara asked straightening.
"MJ is missing."
"What do you mean?"
"He wasn't in class just now and I checked with Tom and he skipped his earlier classes as well. No one has seen him today and he isn't answering."
"Okay, I'll find him." Kara said flying straight to her nephew's home.
"Kara?" Eliza greeted, confused to see her daughter.
"Have you seen MJ?" Kara asked.
"No. He's at school." Eliza said.
"When did you last see him?"
"Breakfast. He said he was going for a run and then was going straight to school. Why?"
"Alex called to say he never made it. If you see him call me."
"Of course." Eliza said as Kara flew off to the DEO.
Landing next to her sister she was about to speak only for Alex to say.
"I'm just heading into a meet-"
"Alex, it's MJ." Kara interrupted.
"What about him?"
"He's missing."

As the teenage Kara sat in her dorm room, trying to make sense of an assignment she heard a rapid knocking at the door.
"It's open." She shouted through the door before turning to see the door open, revealing her brother.
"MJ? What are you doing here?" His sister asked.
"I didn't know what to do." He said looking upset.
"What happened?" Kara asked, ushering him into her room. "Is mom-"
"She's fine." MJ said.
"Okay, well what's wrong?" She asked.
"I was out jogging this morning before school and I ran into someone, well someone ran into me." He started only to pause before finally saying. "He claimed to be Jess. And he knew stuff only Jess would know."
"She could have told him that stuff." His sister reminded him.
"I slept with her. Only maybe she wasn't a she or even a teenager and I-"
"MJ it's okay." Kara said hugging him. "We'll figure it out." She said holding him tightly. "But first, where does mom think you are?"
"I don't know. School?"
"Okay, I'm going to call her and let her know you are okay."

"MJ?" Alex called rushing into the room minutes later, her sister on her shoulder. On seeing her son she pulled him in for a hug. "Are you okay?" Instead of answering he just held her tightly.
"Why don't we go get coffee?" The older Kara suggested to her niece.
"Sure." The teen said leaving with her aunt.
"What's going on?" Alex asked pulling away from MJ.
"I saw Jess. Maybe."
"Maybe?"
"Whoever it was triggered my watch alarm. They knew who I was. What I had told Jess. They claimed to be Jess."
"But they didn't look like Jess?"
"No. It was guy." MJ said causing his mother to hug him again.

"How are you doing?" Kara asked her niece as they sat down in a coffee shop.
"Okay I guess. I just wish I could have helped MJ more." The younger Kara said.
"You were there for him." Her aunt said. "He'll be okay."
"I hope so. I haven't seen him that lost and conflicted and angry for a long time."
"MJ is a fighter, like you. He'll be okay." The older Kara smiled before asking. "How's college?"
"Okay, I guess."
"That wasn't a resounding 'great'." The older Kara pointed out.
"It's fine, I just miss you guys."
"We miss you too." Her aunt said. "But if you miss us, why I am I getting less calls from you?"
"I didn't want to bug you."
"You will never bug me." The older Kara assured her niece. "Plus you know I can fly you home anytime you want?"
"I know, but you have enough on. And I'm not sure being a taxi will help with the Indomitable situation."
"I don't know, that's kind of what he implies I should be." The older Kara shrugged.
"He'll lose his popularity eventually." The younger Kara said. "I mean he is up against Supergirl."

"Is MJ okay?" The teenage Alex asked when her mother finally returned to the apartment.
"He's shaken." Kara said. "Right now he is talking to your aunt, but tomorrow he is going to need a friend."
"What about you?"
"What about me?" Kara asked.
"You didn't see the interview then?" The teen asked.
"What interview?"
"The Indomitable one. I mean tonight's one."
"What's he done now?" Kara asked.
"Said you not showing up today was a sign you weren't up to the job and it was time the city moved on."
"What happened today?" Kara asked.
"Train derailment." The teen said. "And isn't that odd? They are pretty rare, then on the same day someone messes with MJ there is one? And what about all the Earthquakes?"
"Well there is no proof they aren't natural." Kara pointed out. "But if there is a pattern your aunt will figure it out. In the mean time you just focus on school and MJ."

"Hey, how's MJ?" Vasquez asked when Alex marched into the control room the next day.
"Still shaken." Alex said.
"We found the encounter on CCTV." Vasquez said.
"Let's see it." Alex said walking to a screen. Moments later she saw a video of her son jogging through the park. As he came to a stop and started to stretch a man approached him.
"That's him, her, Jess?" Alex asked.
"Yeah." Vasquez said as Alex saw her son's demeanour change before he sprinted off. "Whoever that is, we'll figure it out. We are pretty sure that wasn't Malaise. But we don't know who they were. MJ's watch reacted so they could be a shapeshifter, but we have no way to know for sure." Vasquez said. "Right now we are running facial recognition on footage before and after the encounter. No hits yet, but it could take a while."
"While I appreciate this, the timing could be meant as a distraction." Alex said. "We need to focus on Indomitable."
"We are." Vasquez said.
"Doesn't look that way."
"Some of us stayed on after our shift yesterday to dig into what happened."
"Thank you." Alex said.
"Of course. You know MJ is family to us." Vasquez said as Kara approached.
"Hey." Kara greeted. "How's MJ?"
"Still shaken."
"Alex thinks the timing wasn't a coincidence." Kara said.
"Alex as in your one?" Vasquez asked looking between the sisters.
"Yeah, she filled me in on what happened yesterday." Kara explained.
"What happened yesterday?" The older Alex asked.
"Train derailment and then Indomitable launched a media attack on Supergirl for not being there." Vasquez summarised before looking at Kara and asking. "Is Alex's thoughts based on anything other than hanging out with that Alex?"
"No." Kara said. "But she has a point."
"Ma'am, I have something." Rose said approaching.
"What?"
"Paul Agut."
"Who?" Alex asked.
"Paul Agut, age thirty one, lives on the East side."
"Links to Tycho?" Alex asked.
"None. Or at least none that we can find."
"Want me to pick him up?" Supergirl asked.
"No." Ruby said coming into the office.
"Something to add?" Alex asked.
"Yeah. Facial recognition also detected him across the city at the same he was talking to MJ."
"Which makes sense if a shapeshifter was talking to MJ." Vasquez said.
"Doesn't help identify who MJ was talking to." Alex sighed.
"Want me to investigate?" Her sister asked. "I mean as Kara, I could talk to the real Paul Agut, see if there are links."
"You have time?"
"For this? Absolutely."
"Thank you. But be careful."
"I will." Kara said leaving.
Once she had gone Vasquez turned to Rose and said. "I want you to check that both of those footages are genuine."
"Yes ma'am."
