Baratta jennifer - There will be a steady trickle of information.
"What do you think?" Alex asked as she stood with Kara on the DEO balcony that evening.
"I don't know. It doesn't exactly match up with what I was told. But then again how many times do we ever get a straight answer from Kryptonians?" Kara said.
"Or he has had many years to perfect his excuses." Alex said.
"But you believe him?" Kara guessed.
"I don't not believe him."
"I guess I should talk to my mom."
"Now?"
"No. I'll wait to the weekend."
"Want me to watch Alex?"
"Actually, I think I'll take her to Argo." Kara replied.
00
"I'm back." MJ said walking into the house.
"How was therapy?" His mother asked.
"Okay, I guess."
"So I know Diz has DEO training this weekend. So are you doing anything?"
"No."
"Your aunt and cousin are going to Argo for the weekend so do you want to do something?" Alex asked.
"Like what?"
"How about camping?"
"When you say camping, is that campfire and smores or bootcamp?" MJ asked.
"I was thinking the former, we could take the telescope do a bit of star gazing." Alex offered.
"Sure."
00
"Kara! Alex!" Alura greeted before hugging them.
"Hi mom." Kara smiled.
"I have missed you." Alura said to Alex.
"Me too." Alex smiled.
"You have grown again." Alura said looking at teen.

"So, you finalised your college choices yet?" Alex asked her son as they hiked through the forest.
"Thinking of an EA to BU."
"BU?" Alex asked.
"Yes."
"Is your choice of college anything to do with your cousin?" Alex asked her son.
"She didn't even apply for BU."
"No, but she is going for MIT, which is down the road." Alex pointed out.
"Are you saying you don't approve of BU?"
"MJ, college choice is personal. All that matters is you have a good fit for you. And only you can decide that." She then added. "If you are doing it to help Alex, that's great, but make sure it is what you want too."
"It is." MJ said.
"Okay." Alex replied.
"But-" MJ started.
"But what?"
"Boston is on the other side of the country, are you really okay with that?" MJ said.
"As long as you are happy, I'm happy. Plus thanks to your aunt and J'onn it doesn't take that long to get there. Besides I am going to have a full time job looking after your aunt."
"That's true. Although we can't work out if she going to fly there daily."
"She didn't when you were in Midvale." Alex reminded him.
"That we know of." MJ countered. Noticing his mother had come to a stop he asked. "Why have you stopped?"
"Looks like a good place to camp." Alex said.
"But we have only walked a few miles."
"We can walk further, but this seems a good spot." Alex said.
00
"So what brings you to Argo?" Alura asked once it was just her and Kara.
"It's been hard on Alex recently." Kara said. "And I know she is seen as an outsider here, but I thought it would do her good."
"You are both welcome anytime." Alura said.
"But it causes you problems." Kara said.
"You are family and you are Kryptonian. You will always have a home here." Alura said. "But I sense there is more to your visit than what you have told me."
"We found Hals-Sa." Kara said.
"You did? How? Where?"
"Lobo. Long story. But I spoke to him."
"What did he say?"
"He left and wanted nothing to do with Kryptonian research and hadn't pursued it."
"You believed him?"
"I don't know." Kara said sounding lost.
"Where is he now?"
"Frax took him back." Kara said pausing before adding. "He said after he found the truth about Medusa he confronted my father but realised he wouldn't change his mind. After that he met with aunt Astra and Non. He said Non was no better than the council, but he believed in Astra. But once Astra had been sentenced to Fort Rozz he lost hope and left. He was pretty convincing."
"So far only I know what he told you. Maybe if he still has a connection to Argo, knowledge of you finding him will draw that out. I'll report that you have spoken to him to the Council. We'll see what happens after that." Alura said. "Why don't you find Alex and I'll join you both after I have talked to the Council?"

Noticing his mother watching him MJ said.
"I'm fine."
"You lie as well as your aunt." Alex said.
"I thought what we had was real. How am I meant to trust what I feel again?"
"I know it is hard." Alex said. "But you need to trust your heart."
"How can I, when it was duped to easily."
"MJ, you were manipulated." Alex reminded him. "Whoever Jess was was a bad person. Most people aren't. I know how you want to close your heart off, to save yourself from pain. But if you do that you will never be happy."

"We're back." Kara called walking into her sister's lounge.
"Hey." Alex said looking up.
"So MJ, how was camping?" Kara asked.
"Good."
"Did you get fed and watered?"
"And I could keep my phone." He said.
"Wow, you are going soft in your old age." Kara said to her sister who ignored her and looked at the teenagers.
"You guys want to go pick up some dinner?" Alex asked.
"Sure. We'll see you soon." MJ said taking the hint before walking out with his cousin and Chewie.
"So how was Argo?" Alex asked her sister.
"Okay. I mean it was good seeing my mom. But I didn't get any closer to the truth."

"Welcome back." Steve said when he saw Kara and the older Alex in the coffee shop.
"Thanks." Kara smiled.
"How's MJ doing?" Steve asked Alex before explaining. "Martin told me what happened."
"He's … okay." Alex replied before asking. "Is MJ actually talking to Martin about it?"
"I think so." Steve said. "Martin said MJ didn't want to burden Alex with it. But then again they are teenagers so I don't know how much talking there actually is. What about you?"
"What about me?"
"How are you holding up?"
"Dealing with one problem at a time and trying to channel my anger." Alex said.
"Well maybe the holidays will give you guys the break you need." He said before asking. "I take it you guys are heading to Midvale for Thanksgiving?"
"No, we are staying at home this year." The older Alex said. "What about you guys?"
"Just stay local."
"You guys want to join us?" Kara asked. "Eliza is coming down and cooking so it'll be safe."
"We don't want to intrude."
"You wouldn't be." Alex said. "Despite Kara's appetite we always have way too much food."
"You sure?"
"Absolutely." Kara smiled.
"Then great. Thanks. Can we bring anything?"
-00-
"You okay?" Kara asked as she saw her daughter staring out of the window.
"Sorry what?" The teen asked.
"You okay?" Kara repeated.
"Yes."
"You don't sound certain." Kara pointed out.
"I was just thinking."
"About?"
"Argo."
"What about it?"
"We went because you discovered some stuff about your father right?"
"How did you- Yeah." Kara said.
"And he isn't who you thought he was?"
"I don't know." Kara said. "When I was a kid I only saw the good. But there was a lot more to him than I saw."
"Would you have preferred to have discovered that earlier?"
"Discovering someone isn't who you thought they were hurts no matter when it happens." Kara said before asking. "What's with all the questions?"
"I was just thinking about my father."
"What about him?" Kara asked.
"The unknowns. What if there is something about him?"
"You still worried that it would effect who you are?"
"A little."
"Is that why you haven't been spending as much time with Frax?"
"No. Not really. A little maybe."
"Do you think I am a bad person?" Kara asked her.
"No, of course not. Why would I?"
"When Worldkiller-1 was in me I hurt you."
"You weren't in control."
"Maybe, but my father was at least partially responsible for Worldkiller-1 and he was involved in a lot of bad research."
"Doesn't make you bad."
"Then why would anything about your father make you bad?" Kara asked.

"I would ask if you'd seen the latest interview, but my crushed chair back tells me everything I need to know." The older Alex said approaching her sister.
"Sorry, he just makes me so mad."
"I know. But ignore him." Alex said.
"Easier said than done."
"Well I have a job for you if you are interested."
"Sure, what is it?"
"Home renovation." Alex said.
"Whose house are you demolishing?" Kara questioned following her sister out of the office.
