Baratta jennifer -Thank you.
"Where's Kara?" Alex asked when her sister came into the house alone a few days later.
"Saying hello to Diz." Her sister said. "They'll be in soon."
"She does remember there is still a DEO guard outside?" Alex asked.
"Pretty sure she doesn't care." Kara shrugged. "Where are the others?"
"MJ is coming back from practice and mom is at your place with Alex."
"Which reminds me, I should go as I am having dinner with Alex and Eliza so I'll see you later. Actually I'll wait until Kara comes in, and then I will head out. Bad enough hearing what is going on, so don't want to see."
"Don't need a commentary." Alex said as they heard the front door open.
"That's my cue." Kara said. "See you later." She added leaving the room.
"Hi mom." The younger Kara said walking into the lounge.
"Hi." Alex said hugging her daughter. "You okay?"
"I'm fine." The teen said pulling away. As Alex looked over her head she greeted. "Hi Diz."
"Hey." He smiled.
"So what's the plan tonight?" The younger Kara asked.
"Well your aunt is out for dinner with Alex and your grandmother, so a quiet family night?"
"Sounds nice." Her daughter smiled.
"I'll see you guys tomorrow." Diz said.
"Where are you going?" Alex asked confused.
"Back home to give you guys some space."
"Why?" Alex asked confused.
"You said it was a family night." Diz said.
"Diz, you count, especially after all you have done for MJ." Alex pointed out.
"Sure I'm not intruding?"
"Of course not." Alex smiled. "Besides, isn't Wildcat away?"
"Yeah."
"Then you definitely need to stay." Alex said just as MJ returned.
"Hi guys." MJ waved from the door.
"Hey." Diz replied as Kara hugged her brother.
"I saw you two weeks ago." MJ protested, but he still hugged her before pulling away and saying. "Thanks."
"Anytime." The younger Kara smiled.
"Can you two go grab dinner?" Alex asked Diz and her son.
"Sure." Diz said.
As Diz and MJ went to collect the order Alex asked her daughter looked at her daughter and said. "I've done something and I need you not to be mad."
"Oh my god, are you finally dating? Why would I be mad?" The younger Kara asked.
"What? No. Why would you think I was dating?" Alex said confused.
"M- nevermind, What it is?"
"I did a bit of redecoration." Alex said.
"You did?" Her daughter asked looking around not seeing any differences. "It's very … subtle."
"Not here. Upstairs." Alex said. "Your room."
Confused the teen jogged upstairs, followed by her mother. As she opened the door she saw her childhood bed had been replaced by a much larger bed.
"You aren't home often and when you are I get you want to spend time with Diz. This way you'll be here and comfortable and you can still spend time with Diz, but we'll see you as well."
"You're okay with this?" Kara asked.
"Assuming you are." Alex said.
"Thanks mom." The younger Kara said hugging her.
"You really okay?" Alex asked her.
"With the room?"
"No in general."
"Yes, why?"
"You've seemed a bit down recently."
"Which is why you set aunt Kara on me?"
"I did not set your aunt on you. She is also concerned."
"I know, but like I told her, I'm okay." The teen said. "I just miss you guys."
"We miss you too." Alex said.
"How's MJ doing?"
"Says he is okay, but is shutting himself more." Alex said. "Has Diz said anything?"
"Only what happens round an engine stays round an engine." Kara said. "But he did say he'd tell me if he thought there was a major problem."

"Morning." The older Kara said as she entered her sister's house with her daughter and Chewie the next day.
"Hi girls." Eliza smiled before hugging them as Chewie sniffed round the kitchen for food.
"Want any help?" The teenage Alex offered.
"The potatoes need peeling." Eliza said.
"Okay." The teen said taking the peeler from a drawer. As she got to work Eliza asked her daughter. "How are you this morning?"
"Looking forward to pie." Kara smiled.
"Hey." The older Alex said as she and MJ came into the house.
"Where have you been?" Kara asked.
"Out jogging."
"Why?" Kara asked.
"It's good for us." MJ said.
"No, hearts should not beat that fast." Kara countered before looking at her sister. "Are you even meant to be running on your leg?"
"My leg has been fine for months. I'm going to grab a shower." Alex said. "I'll be back in a minute." She added before heading upstairs.
"Any food?" MJ asked looking round.
"What would you like?" Eliza asked.
"Anything, I'm starving." He said as a peeled potato floated in front of his face.
"Not funny." He said plucking it out of the air and throwing it back at his cousin.
"You said anything." The teenage Alex said earning a glare from MJ who went to a cupboard and grabbed a snack.
"You could have breakfast." Eliza pointed out.
"This is quicker." He said grabbing another bar. "I'm going to get changed." He added before disappearing.
"Anything you want me to do?" The older Kara asked Eliza.
"Everything else is done." Eliza said.
"What time did you get up?"
"Early. It's a big turkey."
"We're back." The younger Kara called as she and Diz entered the house.
"Seriously, why is everyone up so early today?" The older Kara asked confused.
"It's not that early." Her niece said as Diz put a brown paper bag on the table.
"We got everything you asked for." The younger Kara said to her grandmother.
"Thank you." Eliza said taking out some of the contents.
"Anything else you need?" The teenage Kara asked.
"No, that's everything." Eliza smiled.
"Where's Wildcat today?" The older Kara asked Diz.
"He's out of town, a friend needed help." The teen shrugged.
"So we have you for the whole weekend?" Kara asked.
"Yes." He said.
"Good." Kara smiled causing Diz to look at his girlfriend and ask.
"Should I be worried."
"Probably." The teenage Kara said. "But I'm sure you can handle it." She added as her aunt started to look through the cupboards.
"Have you lost something?" Eliza asked her youngest.
"Just looking for food." She said, before adding. "For MJ."
"You suck at lying." Her daughter said.
"What?" Kara asked trying and failing to look innocent.
"What have you done?" The older Alex asked coming back into the kitchen, her hair still wet and seeing her sister's expression.
"Nothing." She protested. "I was looking out for my favourite nephew and yet you all doubt me."
"I would have thought you would have learned to lie a little by now." Her sister said.
"Don't bully your sister." Eliza warned.
"She is capable of looking after herself." The older Alex protested.
"Alex." Eliza said.
"Wow, you are starting really early this year." Kara whispered to her sister. "Normally you can smell the turkey before you get into this much trouble."
"It's your fault." Her sister pointed out causing another rebuke from Eliza just as MJ returned to the kitchen.
"Is there food yet?" He asked.
"Told you." The older Kara said to her niece just as the doorbell rang. "I'll get it."
As the door opened Steve said, while peering over a large box.
"Hi."
"Hi." Kara smiled. "Want me to take that?"
"No, it's fine." He said as he entered the house with Martin.
"Come on through." Kara said leading them to the kitchen.
"Hi Steve, Martin." Eliza greeted.
"Hi."
"What's with the box?" The older Alex asked.
"Kara said we could bring our own traditions." He said placing the box on the table before looking to Eliza and Alex and asking. "Is that okay? There are only two?"
"Of course." Alex said. "But still curious about the box."
"Right, well the first tradition is pie breakfast. Now I know we can not compete with the famous chocolate pecan pie, but I was also assuming Kara would eat it all so I brought a couple of others."
"Wait a minute." Kara said. "Pie breakfast?"
"Yes." Steve said.
"As in, eat pie at breakfast?" Kara asked.
"Yeah, instead of after lunch we have pie for breakfast with coffee." Steve said.
"How have we never done this?" Kara asked.
"I also have some fresh beans." Steve said passing Alex the bag of coffee.
"What's the second?" Kara asked.
"Well our family was kinda spread out so we only really got together for Thanksgiving, which meant we always missed people's birthdays. So we celebrate everyone's birthday's at Thanksgiving."
"These really your traditions or did aunt Kara bribe Steve?" MJ asked Martin.
"They're real."
"You have birthday cake and pie?" The teenage Alex asked as Steve removed a cake from the box.
"Yeah."
"How do you not have diabetes?" The younger Kara asked.
"So much judgment in this house." Steve said as the older Alex passed him a cup of coffee.
"So what about you guys? What traditions do you have, apart from chocolate pecan pie?"
"No one warned you about the fighting?" MJ asked.
"What fighting?" Steve questioned.
"Wow, this will be a baptism of fire." MJ said before looking at Martin and asking. "Want to game?"
"Sure."

Just as the group were about to sit at the table Alex's phone rang.
"Sorry, it's work, I need to take this. Might as well serve up." She said leaving the room.
"Some people will go to any lengths to get out of the thankful thing." MJ commented.
"Thankful thing?" Steve asked.
"We have to say what we are thankful for before we eat." MJ said.
"Should I have written a speech?" Steve asked.
"God no." MJ said. "Short and sweet. Emphasis on short."
"Good to know." Steve said as Eliza passed him the potatoes.
"Sorry about that." Alex said returning to the room.
"It's him isn't it?" Kara asked.
"If by him you mean Indomitable then yes." Alex said.
"What's happened?"
"Massive oil leak off the coast. Indomitable is clearing it up." Alex said before pointing out. "If you go he'll make you look bad."
"He'll do that regardless." Kara said.
"Like I said at the moment we are collecting lots of data on him. You just need to be patient." Alex said.
"You know I hate being patient." Kara said. "And while I am badly being impatient, who knows what he is really doing."
"Can't J'onn cheat? I mean he can read minds." Martin pointed out.
"Only if he gets close enough." The older Kara said. "And even then people can train their minds."
"Plus even if he did read it no one would believe him." The older Alex said. "For now we just need to ride it out until they make a mistake."
"For now we can grateful that we get a peaceful Thanksgiving for a change." Eliza said.

"You okay?" Kara asked joining her daughter in the backyard that afternoon.
"Yes."
"Then why are you hiding out here?"
"I'm not."
"Looks like you are." Kara said.
"I mean I am not hiding. I just wanted some fresh air."
"Which normally means you are stressing about something." Kara said.
"I'm not. Not exactly."
"Which isn't a denial. So what's wrong?"
"I've started to have nightmares."
"About what?" Kara asked.
"Lobo. What he did to you."
"Why didn't you say anything?"
"You've been stressed about Indomitable. I didn't want to make you more stressed."
"You should have told me. Actually I should have noticed. I'm sorry." Kara said.
"It's not your fault." The teen said leaning against her mother.
"I know what happened with Lobo was bad, but I am okay."
"What happens when he comes back?"
"Your uncle and grandparents have him tied up in a contract." Kara reminded her.
"Like you believe that will stop him."
"Your aunt and I are working on a plan, so I need you not to stress."
"It's not that easy is it? If it were you wouldn't still be having nightmares."
"Well no." Kara conceded. "But normally nightmares have triggers. My recent one was because I didn't have powers and was feeling vulnerable. So what caused yours?"
"I don't know. I mean nothing bad has happened." The teen said.
"You sure?" Kara asked.
"Yes."
"You still nervous about college?"
"Not really. I mean until offers or rejections come in it is not like there is much to get stressed over."
"That's one way of looking at it." Kara said. "I tell you what, why don't we start training every day, well except Tuesday when you have chess practice."
"You have time?"
"Of course I do. That is one of the good things about Indomitable being around. So what do you say?"
"I'd like that." The teen said.
"So would I." Kara said as they heard MJ yelling from above.
"Alex, get up here, we are getting wiped out."
"Sounds like you need to save your cousin." Kara smiled. "Go have fun."

"Everything okay?" Eliza asked as Kara came back into the lounge.
"I think so." She said sitting on the couch moments before Chewie jumped up on her lap.
"That wasn't very convincing." Steve said passing her a plate of pie.
"Well now I have a second pie session it is much better." She smiled before noticing her sister was missing. "Where's Alex?"
"Phone call." Eliza said.
"Let me guess, Indomitable has done something else?"
"Actually it was Lena."
"Is she okay?"
"Alex hasn't run off anywhere, so I assume so." Eliza said.
"Although it was a really weird conversation." Steve said.
"Weird how?"
"Pretty sure they were talking in code. Or had both had strokes." Steve shrugged.
"You'll get used to it." Eliza said.
"Such un-comforting words." Steve said as his phone rang. Seeing the display he said. "Sorry I have to take this." With that he left the room.
"So what's bothering Alex?" Eliza asked.
"Nightmares." Kara sighed. "Nightmares I missed."
"At least she is telling you now." Eliza said as Steve returned.
"Sorry, that was the hospital. I have to go. Can Martin stay here tonight?"
"Of course." Kara said.
