"This doesn't make sense." Vasquez said.

"What doesn't?"

"Indomitable. He stayed off grid for years, but now he seems to have every power going?"

"Maybe it does make sense." Ruby said walking over carrying a tablet.

"This is a list of all the metas who have joined Indomitable." Ruby said displaying the list on the screen. "Next to them is a list of their powers." She then tapped the tablet and changed the display, this time showing a time line. "This shows when they joined on the left and on the right what powers Indomitable displayed."

Seeing that Indomitable's powers were displayed after a meta with those powers joined him Alex asked. "You think he is taking their powers?"

"Maybe, I mean there was Osmose who could do that."

"But only on a short term basis." Alex said. "But we did think they were coming up with a way to give powers to order. But can a human body even cope with all those powers? And if it could, how does he persuade the metas to give up their powers?"

"Remember we speculated the distribution of drug use implied white collars wanting to screw the system, what if the reason behind that was to perfect the mind control power."

"If what we are saying is correct, Indomitable is going to be undefeatable." Alex said.

"And the perfect host for Tycho, if Tycho is still alive and after a host." Vasquez said.

"Okay, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Indomitable keeps turning up, he must be dropping DNA, let's find it and figure out his weakness."

"What's this?" Kara asked stepping into the training area.

"This is the latest robot technology. It will mimic Indomitable and Lobo." Her sister said.

"The two people I can't beat?"

"You can beat them, we just have to be smart about it." Alex said. "At some stage Indomitable will show his true colours. When he does we need to be ready. That means you need to train for every eventuality. We aren't going to just chase our tails we are going to prepare."

"I so don't like the sound of this." Kara complained.

"We'll start easy."

"You and I have different definitions of easy." Kara said.

"What's wrong?" The teenage Alex asked when she got home and saw her mother lying on the couch.

"Your aunt." Kara said before muttering something into the cushion.

"So you are too tired to move?" The teen guessed.

"Yes."

"So I should cancel the potsticker order."

"Potstickers?" Kara asked sitting up.

"MJ is just picking them up. But I can call him and tell him not to bother."

"I can eat them." Kara said. "But I need a hug first."

"So you are okay?" Alex asked as she sat next to her mother and hugged her.

"Need food." Kara said. "And to hide from your aunt. But more importantly we need to go shopping."

"For what? I mean MJ is bringing the food."

"I didn't mean for food. We need to get you a dress."

"For?" The teen asked.

"Don't you have the winter ball coming up?"

"No."

"As in you aren't going or they have cancelled it?"

"I'm not going."

"Why?"

"Not dating anyone."

"You don't have to. You can go with friends."

"Martin isn't going, neither is MJ."

"He isn't? I would have thought it was up his street."

"It was before Jess. Not so much now." Alex said. "And Martin has no interest in it. So the three of us will hang out and do something."

"Something?" Kara asked.

"Still figuring that out."

"Well if you want me to fly you guys somewhere let me know. Or if you change your mind and want to buy a dress we can do that too."

"I have food." MJ said entering the apartment with a large bag.

"Hey MJ." Kara greeted.

"What happened to you? Has mom been training you again?"

"Yeah."

"Sorry."

"Agent Danvers, please take a seat." The President said the next day. "We have a problem."

"Indomitable?" Alex guessed.

"And his army."

"Army is a bit of an exaggeration. And none of them are aliens so technically it doesn't fall under the DEO." Alex said.

"A most political answer. But Metas kind of fall under you and Indomitable is a meta."

"We aren't the meta police. I mean we have a meta squad." Alex said.

"Yes you do, a hand picked squad. A group you believe can follow rules, or bend them as required, but motivations are inline with the DEO." The President said. "But I assume you would not hire Indomitable?"

"No."

"Well you have more sense than General Humes who wishes to employ Indomitable."

"Wouldn't that go against Indomitable's independent rhetoric?"

"True, but I believe Indomitable will change his rhetoric to suit whichever goal is more important." The President said. "At the moment the Attorney General is looking at legal options. Not that we actually have a prison that could hold him." He said before leaning forward and saying. "What I am about to say is completely off the record."

"Of course." Alex said.

"Our fear is he is assembling an army to take control of the US. We need a way to stop that happening. We could try passing bills though congress, but they may cause more harm than good. So we need to be in a position to act if and when needed. I am assuming you are working on plans, I don't want details. But if you need extra budget, you have it."

"You know this is likely to be a long term thing?" Alex asked.

"I do." The President said. "Officially we are concerned by Lobo and will fund you to do whatever it takes to stop the threat. Make sure that budget stops all threats."

"Yes Sir." Alex said.

"What's wrong with you?" Lena asked when she saw Alex that evening.

"The President basically said I can have whatever budget I want."

"And that is bad because?"

"He wants us to stop all threats."

"Can't you just get Lobo to stop Indomitable?" Lena asked.

"No. But I guess if Indomitable goes after Alex, Lobo may clean up our mess for us."

"I assume you aren't sharing that thought with Kara?" Lena asked.

"No."

"Doesn't Kara still have a request or two to use with Lobo?"

"Yes, but we both know she would never ask Lobo to stop someone." Alex said.

"Where is she anyway?"

"Special training." Alex said. "She should be back in an hour."

"And I assume she will be hungry?"

"And frustrated. Sitting around is getting to her."

"Anything I can do to help?"

"Come up with some new training?" Alex suggested.

"I'll do my best." Lena said as the front door opened.

"Hi mom, hi Lena." MJ said before heading straight to the kitchen as his cousin entered the lounge.

"Hi." She called. Not seeing her mother she asked. "Where's mom?"

"Training at the DEO. She'll be back soon." Alex said. "Everything okay?"

"It's fine." The teen said. "I'll take Chewie for his walk."

"I'll come with you." Lena said standing.

"So what's up with you?" Lena asked as they walked.

"What?" The teen asked.

"You aren't exactly your normal chirpy self." Lena said.

"I'm not normally chirpy." The teen said.

"You know what I mean." Lena said. "What's wrong?"

"What if I let you down?"

"With what?"

"MIT and after. You said I would make L-corp lots of money, but what if I can't?"

"Alex, I said that to wind your mother up. I know that you are capable of making lots of money for L-Corp, but I am not expecting you to."

"Then why sponsor me?"

"Partly to make up for not always being a good friend to your mom, but mostly because you deserve it. Being taken in by the Luthors did provide me with a lot of money, more money than I know what to do with. And if some of that money can be used for something good then it's worth it." Lena said. "And no matter what happens I have your back."

"Thanks." The teen said.

"Anything else bothering you."

"Lobo."

"Have you seen him again?"

"No. But he is still out there. What if he tries to kill mom again?"

"Technically he isn't allowed." Lena reminded her. "But even if he did, she has survived before, she will again."

"How do you know?"

"She is a survivor. And she has you to live for."
