A/N: Thanks for the reviews.

Guest - Thanks! There are still some more bad guys to come out of the woodwork and Kara will need help to defeat them, despite the amount of training she is about to undergo.

Baratta jennifer - Lena will have more wisdom later.

"Hi." The younger Kara greeted when she saw her aunt.

"Hey you." The older Kara said approaching her before noticing her new shorter hair. "You cut your hair. It looks great." She said before hugging her niece. "How are you doing?"

"Good. But looking forward to the holidays." The younger Kara said into the hug before pulling away and asking. "Everything okay at home?"

"It's fine, but you can see for yourself. Ready to go?" The older Kara asked.

"Got everything I need." The younger Kara said picking up her bag.

"Then let's go." The older Kara said grabbing hold of her and flying her back to National City.

"You sure you don't want me to fly you Diz?" Kara asked her niece when they landed at the house.

"He has DEO training."

"So we get to hang out?" The older Kara asked as they entered the house.

"Don't you have work?" The younger Kara asked as Chewie sprinted towards her. "Hey you." She said picking up the dog

"Wow, you sound like your mom, and not in a good way. But no. I have submitted all my articles so this afternoon is free to hang out." Her aunt said.

"Okay, well I'll go dump my bag upstairs." The younger Kara said before passing Chewie to her aunt and jogging upstairs.

"Looks like you are going to get a lot of attention this afternoon." The older Kara said to Chewie. "Don't worry there will be food as well." She added as the younger Kara came downstairs looking a little confused.

"Did you like them?" The older Kara asked.

"You mean the Christmas Pyjamas?"

"Yep. There is a pair for everyone. Obviously the bigger ones on the bed are for Diz."

"I guessed that. Did I miss a group chat on a Christmas Pyjama party?"

"No. I just thought it'd be fun and this year has been hard on everyone so we need fun. Don't worry I have sweaters as well."

"Of course you do."

"But I thought I'd save them until Christmas Eve."

"That's very measured." Her niece said. "Anything else I should know?"

"Still working on the final plan, you can help if you want."

"Final plan?"

"You know, gingerbread houses, carolling, tree decoration, tree cutting … "

"Out of interest, this burst of Christmas enthusiasm has nothing to do with Indomitable does it?"

"What? No." The older Kara said in an exaggerated way.

"Very convincing." The younger Kara said amused. "So what's on the agenda for today?"

"Christmas shopping. Want to come?"

"You do remember there is the internet?"

"In person is more fun, plus we can stop for coffee and cake." Her aunt said.

"Can't argue with that logic."

When the younger Kara finally returned home her mother was already waiting.

"Hey." Alex said hugging her and commenting. "I like your hair."

"Thanks." The teen said.

"Where have you been? I thought you were coming back at lunch?"

"I was and I did. But Aunt Kara had plans."

"And where is your aunt?"

"Gone to meet Alex." The younger Kara said before asking. "Out of interest how's aunt Kara doing with Indomitable?"

"Getting frustrated. Why?" The older Alex said.

"The Christmas pyjamas and her over the top excitement implied she wasn't okay."

"Like I said, she's frustrated. Hopefully we can keep her distracted over the holidays. But expect a lot of sugar."

"I always do." The younger Kara said.

"And questionable fashion choices." Alex warned.

"Got that." Kara said. "Anything I can do to help?"

"She just needs a distraction." Her mother said as the front door opened and closed. Moments later Diz walked into the lounge.

"Hi." Kara smiled before seeing her boyfriend who had a black eye. "What happened to your face?" Kara asked frowning.

"I lost focus in training. It's nothing." Diz assured her. "You okay?"

"I'm fine."

"I'll let you two catch up." Alex said leaving the room.

"You sure you are okay?" Kara asked Diz.

"I've had way worse." He pointed out before hugging her.

"Hey." Alex called entering her sister's apartment.

"Hi." Kara said from in front of her easel.

"You're painting." Alex said.

"Umm yeah."

Looking at the picture Alex said. "You are painting Krypton."

"Yes."

"You only do that when you are really stressed." Alex pointed out.

"Not true." Kara replied.

"But you are stressed?"

"Why would I be stressed? I mean I no longer have to fly off every five minutes because to do so would be a complete waste of time. I mean I am always beaten to the scene by one of Indomitable's people or Indomitable himself. Which makes me wonder how they are so fast or is it I have got slow?" Kara said making some furious movements with her paint brush.

"Let's put the brush down." Alex suggested. "And it could well be they are causing the accidents. In which case they know exactly where they need to be."

"I know we keep saying that, but people get hurt in those accidents. I know I don't like Indomitable, but surely he wouldn't deliberately hurt people?" Kara said turning to face her sister.

"I don't know, but I have less faith in his intentions than you do." Alex said before asking. "So is it just Indomitable or is it more than that?"

"I don't know." Kara sighed. "Maybe I am just restless, you know I don't do well with time on my hands."

"I do know that." Alex said. "But maybe Midvale will do you good."

"You have a minute?" Vasquez said entering Alex's office the next day.

"Sure what is it?"

"I have just heard from Captain Willis."

"At the White House?"

"Yes." Vasquez confirmed.

"And?"

"Apparently the President once again ordered Lane to pass on information about the journals."

"Did he obey?" Alex asked hopefully.

"No. But it did look he might be wavering. But as he left the White House he had a heart attack."

"Is he okay?" Alex asked.

"It was bad. And he is in surgery."

"I'm going to message Lucy." Alex said picking her phone up.

"The reason Willis called me wasn't him being cooperative."

"It wasn't?"

"No. He thinks Lane may have been targeted."

"Why?"

"There was a caterer he didn't recognise and Lane collapsed right after drinking coffee."

"But the President is okay?" Alex asked frowning.

"He is, but different cups. Willis collected the cup and has passed it to Secret Service."

"I'll chase up the results." Alex said.

00

"Any news on Lane?" The older Kara asked when her sister came home.

"Stable." Alex said.

"And the poison?"

"Potential poison." Alex corrected. "Results on the coffee came back negative."

"We trust them?" Kara asked.

"I did until Lane's bloodwork came back showing anomalies."

"So the coffee test was tampered with?"

"We don't know it was the coffee." Alex reminded her. "But there is a full investigation taking place." She added as Kara's phone buzzed.

"It's Lucy." Kara said reading the message.

"How is she?"

"Holding it together. Lois is there as well." Kara replied as she read the message before firing off a reply.

"Does she need anything?" Alex asked.

"Just asked." Kara said as her phone buzzed, as she read the new message she said. "No, she's okay." She then looked at her sister and asked. "Do you think this is connected to Indomitable?"

"I don't know. I mean those journals haven't been connected to him and Lane got them way before Indomitable came onto the scene." Alex said. "But I can't rule anything out."
