"Morning." Alex called entering her sister's apartment.
"Hey." Kara said looking up from her laptop.
"How was training?"
"Rough night for Alex."
"Why?"
"Diz, who has come on a long way."
"He is a hard worker." Alex said.
"Was that a compliment?" Kara asked amused.
"Maybe."
"Next step is to tell him that." Kara said.
"I can't. I mean I can't give him much praise, he gets a lot of flak for being my favourite."
"Geez, how badly do you treat the rest of them?" Kara asked.
"He gets the flak because he is dating Kara." Alex pointed out.
"What are you doing about it?"
"Nothing. He hasn't raised a complaint." Alex shrugged.
"But you know he is being hassled?"
"I don't know know, but I am pretty sure."
"Then why don't you act?"
"Because I have no proof. I need Diz to complain."
"And if he doesn't?"
"I trust his trainers to take the necessary steps." Alex said. "But part of the process is learning to ask for help."

"Alex, we have a problem." Vasquez said as she fell into step alongside Alex.
"What?"
"Dodds has just resigned."
"What? Why?"
"That's the part you won't like." Vasquez said. "To join Indomitable." She explained. The explanation causing Alex to come to a standstill.
"Recruited?" Alex asked,
"No. At least if they were they aren't admitting it. Apparently they believe in Indomitable's vision."
"Where are they?"
"Sent home on gardening leave, all access revoked." Vasquez said. Before looking at Alex and asking. "You okay?"
"No." Alex said walking off.

"You okay?" Kara asked joining her sister in the gym where she was killing a punchbag.
"No." Alex said throwing more punches.
"Is it that they joined Indomitable or that you didn't see it coming?" Kara asked.
"Both." Alex said coming to a stop. "What I don't understand is Dodds saw all we saw and yet they've been taken in."
"Do you think there is actually nothing to see?" Kara asked. "Maybe it is my insecurity and your paranoia joining in a bad way."
"No, pretty sure we are in the right." Alex said.
"Are you going to talk to Dodds? Kara asked.
"What's the point? It's not like I'd take them back." Alex sighed. "But if I had seen it coming, maybe I could have stopped them or understood the attraction. I just feel like I failed."
"You didn't. Everyone has free will. The DEO isn't actually a prison." Kara reminded her.
"I know, but I trusted Dodds. I trust all my people." Alex said.
"I know." Kara replied. "Don't let what happened stop that. We are stronger together." Kara smiled.
"I'll try." Alex said.
"Good. Now why don't we go get some lunch?"
"I'm not hungry."
"You need to eat and coffee and cake always makes you feel better."
"I think you are confusing me for you." Alex said. "But fine, just let me shower."

"What's that?" Alex asked as she returned to the DEO after lunch where her team were staring at a screen.
"The weekly count." Ruby said.
"What?"
"Number of metas signed up for Indomitable." Vasquez said.
"The black bar corresponds to Metas we had never heard of. The red are ones we knew of but had never really done anything and he green are ones we knew of and thought were on our side. As you can see the majority of joiners are the ones we had never really heard of. But the numbers of ones we thought were on our side, while still small is growing."
"And is one more now." Ruby said bitterly.
"These numbers are huge. The President was right. He has an army." Alex said.
"And it is across the country." Vasquez said.
"Why are people joining him?" Alex asked.
"That is the million dollar question." Vasquez said. "Like I said most of the joiners are new metas so it may be drug related. But the ones we know are natural metas, no idea."
"Any one else on our team approached?" Alex asked.
"Not that we know of." Ruby said.
"Any one else thinking of jumping?"
"Not that we know of." Vasquez said. "And to make you more stressed, the President wants a meeting."

"Director Danvers." The President greeted.
"Mr President."
"I put you in charge of the Indomitable issue, and while I did not give you any specific instructions I was expecting more than sitting and watching him build an army."
"There isn't a lot I can do." Alex said. "Technically he is not breaking any laws."
"But you don't trust him?"
"No. There is something very unnatural about this and the number of powers he has, it doesn't add up."
"But you have no way to prove he is up to anything?" The President asked.
"No. Whoever is behind him is smart." Alex said.
"So what are you going to do?"
"For now all we can do is investigate and make sure we are ready when he acts."
"You know what worries me?" The President asked.
"What?"
"His plans for Supergirl. I mean he has made it very clear she works for the DEO and me. He is at every scene, leaving Supergirl to only get involved when aliens are involved. But with every alien attack the anti-alien sentiment is growing. There will come a time very soon where Supergirl protects aliens and that will be portrayed as her attacking humans. She'll be seen as the enemy and so will we. You need a way to stop Indomitable."
"I'm working on it."
"I know. But make sure it works." The President said.

"Kara?" The latest CatCo assistant said approaching her desk.
"Hi Mo, everything okay?"
"Yes, you have a visitor? She seemed a little nervous so I put her in room 5."
"Thanks Mo." Kara said standing and walking to the meeting room.
"Kara Danvers?" The woman dressed in dirty and torn clothes asked.
"Yes." She smiled.
"Dr Keller said you might be able to help." The woman said.
"Of course, but when you didn't show I thought you weren't interested." Kara said.
"I was scared." She said.
"I can't promise you will be safe, but I will do what I can to protect you." Kara smiled as the pair sat down and Kara patiently waited.
"My friend is missing. Maybe taken. Maybe it is nothing. But it isn't right. And there are stories."
"What type of stories?" Kara asked.
"People, well Metas are going missing, kind of, it's hard to explain." The woman said playing with her sleeves.
"Take your time." Kara said. "Tell me about your friend."
"I don't have a home, I live in shelters or under bridges." The woman said. "And around Christmas Indomitable set up a charity to help the homeless. Food trucks would come round, to get access you had to register."
"How did that work?" Kara asked.
"They waved a wand in front of us and were given a band. Some got red some got yellow. They said it was based on vitamin deficiencies. Those with yellow were offered vitamins and food, those with red just food."
"What colour did you and your friend get?"
"Both yellow." The woman said.
"And did you take the vitamins?"
"I didn't. But Sally did."
"Did she change after that?"
"Yes." The woman said before whispering. "She got powers."
"What kind of powers?"
"She could change metals. Make them shrink and stuff." The woman said. "It freaked her out at first, but then she got happy."
"Why?"
"Cos of the fee."
"What fee?"
"Indomitable's charities offer a fee to Metas. A hundred dollars."
"For what?"
"To join. After that you get a roof and food."
"And she joined?"
"Yes and since then nothing. I asked at the food trucks they said training takes up all her time and she is fine. But I'm worried."

"Not fired?" Vasquez asked when Alex returned to the DEO.
"Not yet. But I am probably on borrowed time." Alex said. "We need to make progress."
"I may have something." Kara said approaching them.
"What?"
"A woman came to see me today as her friend is missing. A friend who developed powers after taking vitamins provided by one of Indomitable's charities."
"What exactly happened?" Alex asked.
"Apparently Indomitable set up a charity for the homeless. You get free food, but to do that you need to register and that involves them waving a wand in front of you after that you get a red or a yellow band. People with yellow bands get extra vitamins." Kara recounted. "The missing friend had a yellow band and had the vitamins. Soon after she developed powers. After that, due to a sign on bonus of a hundred dollars and a promise of food and a roof she joined Indomitable and hasn't been seen since." Kara said before adding. "This could be our break."
"Where did this woman come from?" Vasquez asked.
"Steve's clinic."
"You trust her?"
"Shouldn't I?" Kara asked.
"If what she said is true it is the first opening we've had, but it seems a little easy. And it is setting us up to go after a charity. If we are wrong it will be a PA disaster and play into Indomitable's hands." Alex said.
"So we do nothing?"
"No, we investigate, but slowly." Alex said.
