Baratta jennifer - They will all be in for a rough ride.

As the older Kara came into the house a few days later she saw her niece in the kitchen and immediately hugged her.

"You okay?" The younger Kara asked, surprised by the hug.

"I'm fine. Just worried about you."

"Me? Why?"

"Everything that happened with Diz's parents can't be easy." Her aunt said releasing her.

"It's worse for Diz." The younger Kara said.

"I know, but I imagine it brought up a lot of memories for you." Her aunt said. "And I know you and MJ avoid talking to your mom about it, but you know I am here?"

"I know. And it isn't like we want avoid talking to mom. It's just that … "

"You don't want to upset her?" The older Kara guessed.

"Yeah."

"She's stronger than you think." The older Kara said.

"I know, but you didn't see her back then. She was so broken. I never want to see her like that again, and if that means avoiding a few topics I can live with that. I mean MJ and I talk."

"I know." Her aunt said. "And I know you want to protect your mom. But maybe talking would help her too."

"And if she ever brings it up I will talk, but I'm not going to bring it up."

"Okay." Her aunt said. "But if you ever want to talk to me, you know I am here right?"

"I know." The younger Kara said. "And I appreciate it. But I am okay."

"Really?" Her aunt pressed.

"Really." The younger Kara said. "But if that changes I will let you know."

"Make sure you do." Her aunt said.

"What about you?" The younger Kara asked.

"What about me?"

"How are you doing with everything?"

"I'm fine."

"Really? Because I heard you tried baking last night."

"Alex is such a snitch." The older Kara complained as the front door opened and closed before MJ and Diz came into the kitchen, dripping in sweat.

"What are you two up to?" The older kara asked.

"We were jogging." MJ said. "Although it may have got a little competitive. Well it did until Diz started showing his age." The last comment earning a tea towel to the face.

"Where's Alex?" MJ asked as he threw the towel back at Diz.

"At mine with Martin, waiting for you." The older Kara said.

"I'll head over."

"Might want to shower first." His sister said before looking at Diz. "That goes for you too." She added as her aunt's phone rang.

"It's the DEO. I have to go." The older Kara said. "I'll see you guys later."

"She okay?" Diz asked once the older Kara had left.

"Not really." The younger Kara replied.

00

"What's up?" Kara said as she approached her sister at the DEO a few minutes later.

"We found something we thought you'd want to see." Alex said.

"What?"

"Ruby." Alex called.

"Right, we were scanning the web looking for stuff on Indomitable-"

"What's he done now?" Kara interupted. "Apart from ruining my summer."

"This isn't him." Ruby said. "We found these videos. They are all voicing support to Supergirl."

"They are?" Kara asked surprised.

"They are, and while they don't get many hits, the number of videos are growing." Ruby said.

"You think Indomitable is trying something?" Kara asked her sister.

"No. And the fact you jumped straight to that tells me all I need to know about how you are doing." Her sister said.

"We showed you this to make you feel better, not turn you into, well, the boss." Ruby added.

"Sorry, it just feels like there is no good news is right now." Kara said as Alex nodded to Ruby who took the hint and left.

"Kara, we'll get through this. At some stage Indomitable will reveal his true nature and when he does we will stop him." The older Alex said.

"What if we can't?"

"What has ever stopped us?" Alex asked. "But if we are going to stop him, we need you and you need to believe. If you lose hope the rest of us are screwed."

"You're right." Kara said. "It's time to take control. I am going to keep the city safe and prepare for his screw up."

"Want to train?" Her sister asked.

"Yes. But first, I need sugar."

"Then let's go get some sticky buns." Alex said.

00

"Is it too late to ask for a new trainer?" Kara asked when she climbed out of her sister's car that evening.

"You'd prefer J'onn?" Alex asked.

"The pout works on him." Kara pointed out.

"Is that why he was always so much easier on you than me?" Alex asked.

"He wasn't easy on me." Kara said. "Especially when I first came out. I mean I still remember the whole keeping up with the Kryptonians thing."

"I still wonder what other TV secrets he was hiding." Alex said as they entered the house.

"You smell that?" Kara asked.

"Yes." Alex said following her sister into the lounge.

"What's going on?" Kara asked when she saw the group, which as well as the children included J'onn, Lena and Steve.

"We thought you'd want a distraction." Lena said.

"So we planned a Games and Movie Night." Steve said.

"There is loads of food. It will be ready in a few minutes." Her niece added.

"You didn't need to do this." Kara said.

"Well actually we did." MJ said. "I mean we still haven't really celebrated graduation and we need Alex to associate exams and parties otherwise college will be a drag."

"What does that mean?" His cousin asked.

"That for a genius you are still super dumb when it comes to having fun." MJ said to her cousin.

"Want me to hit him?" Diz offered.

"You wouldn't while mom is here." MJ shrugged.

"I would." His sister said punching his shoulder before they heard a beeping from the kitchen. "Come on, you can help carry." she said leading the younger generation from the room.

"Thank you for this." Kara said looking round the remaining adults.

"You're welcome." Lena smiled. "Although it was the kids who organised it." Seeing guilt and sadness wash over her friend's face she asked. "What did I say?"

"Sorry, it's just I have been so wrapped up in Indomitable and how miserable and powerless he has been making me feel I lost sight of how much I have. Seeing you all here tonight night made me realise how ungrateful I have been."

"You know I have a shrink who could really help with you guilt and imposter complexes." Lena offered.

"Why would I need a shrink? I have Chewie who is a very good listener." Kara said lifting the dog up.

"And she can comfort eat without the negative side effects." Steve pointed out as the kids came back carrying plates and plates of food.

As the teenage Alex put her plates down on the table she looked at her mother and asked.

"You okay?"

"I'm fine." Her mother said.

"Should we not have done this?" The teen asked frowning.

"No, this is perfect." Kara assured her.
