As the younger Alex finished packing her bag there was a knock on the door. Moving to it she opened it only to find herself pulled into a fierce hug.
"I have missed you so much." The older Kara said.
"Me too." The teenager said into hug.
"How are you doing?" Kara asked pulling away.
"Okay."
"You sure?" Kara probed.
"I guess."
The non committal response causing Kara to hug her again.
"It gets better." Kara said into the hug. As she released her once more she asked. "Do you want to do anything on route?"
"No. I'm fine just going home."
"You sure?"
"Yes."
"Okay then, let's go." Kara said.

As the pair entered the older Alex's house, the teenage Alex found herself being charged at by Chewie.
"Hey." Alex said picking up the dog who happily licked her. "I missed you too." Alex said to the dog.
"Hey." The younger Kara greeted her cousin before hugging her. "Why don't we go out?"
"Sure."
"We'll see you later." The younger Kara said to the older pair before leaving with her cousin.
"How is she?" The older Alex asked her sister.
"Still feels like an idiot." The older Kara replied. "Maybe Kara can help." She sighed before asking. "Any news on when MJ wants collecting?"
"J'onn is doing it." Alex said. "He'll get him and Martin at the same time."
"Is he sure?"
"Yes." Alex smiled. "You should spend time with Alex."
"Thanks. But is the real motive to have me act as a buffer when Eliza arrives?"
"I don't know what you are talking about." Alex lied.
"You are shameless." Kara said sitting next to her sister.
"How are you doing?" Alex asked.
"Me? Fine. Why?"
"So you are ignoring your feelings of helplessness over Alex?"
"It is Alex suffering, not me." Kara countered.
"You are suffering as well." Alex said as her phone buzzed. "It's mom." She said frowning.
"Everything okay?"
"Yes, but she has a plumbing emergency. She'll come tomorrow instead. Which means, tonight we get to have a competitive games night."

"Eliza!" Kara greeted before hugging her the next day.
"Hi Sweetie." Eliza said into the hug. "I've missed you."
"Me too." Kara replied.
"How's Alex?"
"Still feels down."
"Where is she?"
"Out with Kara."
"And your sister?"
"Still stubborn. But she's okay, or she will be if she rests."
"We'll make sure she does." Eliza smiled as MJ came down the stairs looking like he had just got up.
"What happened to the six am starts?" Kara asked.
"No rowing here." He shrugged before greeting. "Hi Grandma."
"Hello MJ." Eliza said hugging him.
"Is Alex around?" MJ asked his aunt.
"Gone out with your sister." Kara said.
"So early?" He asked confused.
"It's after eleven."
"And before twelve." He countered yawning. "But if Alex is going out that's good. She's been trying to be hermit like since Jeff. Even stopped showing interest in clubs." Seeing his aunt's frown he added. "Don't worry we have forced her to go out. Anyway I am going to see if I can catch them, I'll see you later." He said grabbing his jacket and leaving.
"Alex will be okay." Eliza said wrapping an arm round Kara.
"I hate seeing her so down. And I can't help thinking I should have done more to prepare her for heart break."
"And there are some things you can't protect them from." Eliza reminded her as they walked into the lounge.
"Why are you walking round?" Kara asked when she saw her sister.
"Because I am fine."
"You are meant to be resting."
"I am. Although for the record, being nagged by you is not restful." The older Alex said.
"Alex." Eliza warned. "Your sister has enough to worry about without you adding to it."

"Hi Kara." Lucy smiled as she saw her friend at the DEO.
"Hey."
"How's Alex?"
"Heartbroken and withdrawn." Kara said before noticing her friend's confused look. "You meant the other one. Well she is grumpy, stubborn, restless." Kara listed before offering. "Do you want to join us for Thanksgiving."
"After how well you just sold the quality of the company that will be there, it is hard to turn down. But I need to get back to dad." Lucy said as her inbox beeped at her.
"If you need me to fly you anywhere let me know." Kara offered.
"Thanks, but I'll be okay." Lucy said before frowning.
"What's wrong?" Kara asked.
"You need to see this."
"What is it?" Kara asked, moving round before reading the screen. "They are bringing criminal charges against me?" Kara asked eyes wide.
"They tried, but it was turned down by the County Prosecutor." Lucy said.
"But I don't understand, that area is not exactly supportive of Indomitable's plans." Kara said reading the full report. "They must have known it would fail."
"That actually works in Indomitable's favour." Lucy said. "I mean if non supporter does this it justifies any actions that may happen else where." Lucy said. "I know this is hard, but try not to worry about this. Worrying about this is my job." Lucy said.

"Hi." Kara called as she got back to the apartment where she saw her daughter lying on the couch with Chewie.
"Hi." The teen called back without moving.
"How come you aren't with the others?" Kara asked.
"Martin is on a virtual date, Diz is back so Kara is with him and MJ was catching up with some guys from high school."
"Why didn't you go?"
"Didn't feel like it."
"So you are free to hang out with me?" Kara asked.
"No, I'm going out tonight." The teen said.
"With who?"
"No one. I was going to the aquarium."
"Want me to go with you? We could sketch or paint?" Kara suggested.
"No. I just want some space." The teen said sitting up.
"Um, okay." Kara said.
"I'll see you later." The teen said grabbing her coat and leaving.

"I thought you were hanging out with Alex?" Eliza said when Kara entered the lounge.
"She wanted space." Kara said miserably. "Nothing I do seems to help."
"You always went full hermit after break ups." Alex reminded her.
"I wasn't this bad."
"Yeah you were." Her sister said.
"Fine I was, but that was for long relationships. It was one date she had with the jerk."
"Which was also her first date." Eliza said. "Plus, remember how miserable you were after junior prom."
"Well, I assaulted my date." Kara reminded her.
"At least that was memorable for the rest of us." Alex said.
"Is Alex the only thing bothering you?" Eliza asked.
"No." Kara said. "Copper County tried to bring charges against Supergirl. The prosecutor declined to prosecute, but Lucy thinks it will pave the way for more cases."
"Why am I only learning this now?" Alex asked.
"Because you aren't working." Kara reminded her. "Lucy is dealing with it."
"Someone should have told me." Alex complained.
"I just did. Besides there is nothing you can do." Kara said.
"Are you okay?" Eliza questioned.
"I guess. I just feel helpless." Kara replied.

"I know you had a bad experience with Jeff, but don't close off your heart." Kara said to her daughter the next morning.
"Why? I mean that is our one real weakness isn't it?"
"What do you mean?" Kara asked.
"Kryptonite hurts you but if something happened to me or Kara or MJ or Alex or Eliza, that would kill you. It's our connections to others that is our weakness."
"It's also our strength." Kara said. "If you close your heart off you will never reach your true potential."
"You have not dated in my lifetime." The teen said.
"Well I was busy raising you."
"You're not any more."
"We can discuss my dating issues another time, right now we are focusing on you." Kara said. "While I concede my lack of dating has maybe contributed to where you are now, what matters now is that you let yourself open your heart. If you don't you will never be truly happy."
"Okay."
"Really?"
"Yes, but there is a condition." The teen said.
"What?"
"You go on a date first. If it is not that hard and scary then prove it."
"It's a little harder at my age." Kara pointed out.
"How? You can actually afford to go on a date. So can Steve."
"What does Steve have to do with this?" Kara asked confused.
"Seriously?" The teen asked.
"Yes seriously."
"Great, so I get lectured, but it is fine for you to be blind."
"What are you-" Kara asked only for Alex to storm out of the apartment.
