Baratta jennifer - Thanks!

As MJ entered his cousin's dorm room the next day she pointed to the left.

"What?" He asked.

"Mel's room is next door." The teenage Alex said not looking up from her computer.

"I know. I wanted to see you." He said. "I'm sorry."

"For what?" She asked shutting her laptop and looking at her cousin.

"Last night. Mel."

"You like each other, so what's the problem? She's liked you from day one." Alex said. "Just don't screw it up."

"So you're okay?"

"Why wouldn't I be?"

"Well you kind ran off last night."

"I didn't want to get in the way. Plus I needed a way to forget everything that I saw."

"Sorry." MJ said.

"Let's just never discuss it again." Alex said.

"I can do that. Want to hang out?"

"Shouldn't you be with Mel?"

"Can't I want to hang out with you?" MJ asked.

"I have an assignment to finish."

"So you are mad at me?"

"No, I'm thinking of going to a club and I want to get this done before then."

"Sorry, you are going to a club? Oh wait, you don't mean that type of club do you?" MJ asked.

"How are we doing?" The older Alex asked Vasquez.

"Deadend after deadend. So situation normal." Vasquez said.

"Where's Kara?"

"In with Gizmo." Vasquez replied before warning. "You may want to keep an eye on her, she was talking about taking Gizmo home."

"Again?" Alex asked.

"Yes. Ruby did point out he'd eat Chewie, but she is definitely attached."

"I'll talk to her."

"Before you do there have been more reports than normal about violence against aliens."

"Provoked?"

"Well, depends who you ask. The reports are showing on social media and being used as justification to attack aliens. But it seems like a very one sided version."

"Can you find the owners of the accounts?"

"Well, many of them seem fake. But we have a couple of leads we are following."

"Keep me posted." Alex said walking off.

-00-

"You do know he will eat Chewie?" Alex said when Kara came out of Gizmo's cell.

"Who?" Kara asked confused.

"Your furry friend." Alex said nodding to the cell.

"I'm not taking him home." Kara replied.

"Chewie will be relieved." Alex commented. "So what's wrong?"

"How do you mean?"

"Your visits to Gizmo normally increase when you feel down."

"I was just thinking how frustrated I was feeling and remembered it is probably far worse for Gizmo."

"Gizmo isn't exactly innocent. I mean whoever enters his cell he attacks." Alex reminded her.

"He is probably scared." Kara countered.

"Or, maybe he is an overly aggressive little furball." Alex suggested.

"How can you say that after looking into his eyes?" Kara asked.

"When I looked into his eyes he looked like he wanted to eat me." Alex countered before adding. "Despite that we are still working on where he comes from."

"Thank you." Kara said before asking. "Did you need me for something."

"I was mainly checking that Chewie would be safe. But there is something you should know."

"What?"

"On social media there are increasing reports of alien violence."

"As in aliens attacking humans?"

"It is how it is being sold, but something tells me it was the other way round." Alex said.

As the teenage Alex walked into the room Matt had told her she saw several people assembled.

"Our newest team member." Jane said seeing her. But as Alex scanned the room she saw Jeff. On seeing Alex he stood up and demanded.

"That is my spot." Jeff said.

"No, it is Alex's spot." Jane said.

"Are you not picking me because of her? What has she told you?" He asked.

"Nothing. I didn't even know you knew each other." Jane said. "But unlike you she can code and is a decent person." As she spoke Alex left the room. Seeing her leave Matt and Jane took off after her.

"The jerk?" Matt asked catching up to Alex.

"Sorry?" Alex asked confused.

"He's the jerk you dated?" Matt asked.

"Yeah."

"Why would you date him? He's a jerk." Jane asked.

"I didn't know that at the time."

"Fair enough. Better question, where are you going?" Jane asked. "The source code is that way." She added pointing back down the corridor.

"I didn't know I was taking someone's spot." Alex said.

"You're not." Jane said. "There are several teams here, all in competition. Of them the big two are Robosoc which is us and Robotics Elite. Your ex is desperate to be in a team so is trying to get into all of them. He's trying to prove his worth to both by acting as a spy."

"Which you know how?" Alex asked.

"He offered to give us intel about the Elite's robot so we could beat them, in return for a place in the team." Matt said.

"You weren't interested?" Alex asked.

"The Elite are, as the name suggest, Elite, made up of the richest students and have unlimited resources. Where as we, we try to be inclusive." Jane said. "And while most of us are desperate to beat the elite, we still have a no jerk policy. So you coming back? Because we are desperate. The competition is in two weeks."

"Two weeks?" Alex asked.

"Didn't I mention that?" Jane asked trying to look innocent.

"No."

"Well, now I have. So you in?"

As Supergirl landed next to the alien she was met by a chorus of boos from the hostile crowd. Confused she looked round and saw that the alien was scared not angry. Facing it she tried to talk to it, but as she did she was hit by cans being thrown from the crowd.

"I need everyone to calm down." Supergirl said standing between the alien and the crowd.

"We don't want your kind here." One person shouted.

"We don't need you. We have Indomitable." Came from another.

"Humans for humans." A group started shouting.

Turning Supergirl grabbed the alien and flew it back to the DEO. As she landed she said.

"I don't think he did anything." Kara said to the awaiting DEO agents. "And I think he is scared." She added looking at the alien and offering a reassuring smile.

In response the alien said something in a language Kara didn't recognise.

"I'm sorry, I don't understand." Kara said as she signalled he should go with the agents. Reluctantly the alien walked off as Alex approached her sister.

"You okay?"

"He didn't attack me." Kara said.

"I know, but the crowd did." Alex pointed out. "But remember if Barry is right the crowd was probably being controlled by Indomitable."

"Not even he can generate that much hate." Kara said sadly. "Maybe they were right. Maybe humans should look after humans."

"If they want a human they can have one. But I need you." Alex said. "And all your alien ways."

"Thank you." Kara smiled.

"Why don't we go get dinner?" Alex suggested.

"I'm not very hungry." Kara said looking at her phone.

"That's not going to cut it." Alex said. "Let's go."

"Wait, I have a message from Alex, just let me listen to it."

"My office, five minutes." Her sister said walking off.

"Everything okay?" Alex asked when Kara joined her.

"Yeah, no, I don't know. Alex sounded a little down."

"It's too late to call back now." The older Alex said looking at her watch and trying to convert to Boston time. "So tonight we focus on you. Tomorrow you focus on Alex."

"Bu-"

"That wasn't a suggestion." Alex warned as she stood up. "Come on, let's go."

"I'm really not-"

"Kara, it is happening. Move."

"Fine." Kara agreed following her out of the office. "You don't need to be so bossy."

"Kinda do with you." Alex countered as she led her sister down to car. After a minute she added. "You know if you dwell on it he wins."

"Hard not to dwell." Kara said climbing into the car.

"I know." Alex said. "And I know it is hard and it hurts, but whether they know it or not the city needs you."

"I'm not so sure." Kara replied staring out of the window.

"Well I need you and I am part of the city." Alex tried as she took a left.

"Where are we going?" Kara asked noticing they had turned the wrong way.

"Lena's."

"Why?"

"Games Night. Plus Lena's purse extends further than mine so she can buy the food."
