Baratta jennifer - Lena's support won't necessarily pay off for her
"Hey." Alex said as her sister entered the DEO the next day.
"Hi."
"I hear they did well yesterday."
"MJ told you?" Kara guessed.
"Yeah." Alex said. "Although he said it was almost as bad as watching chess. He also mentioned Alex had inherited your cluelessness."
"What do you mean?" Kara asked confused.
"Something about a guy called Matt." Alex clarified.
"Oh, yeah. Even I could see he was interested. But Alex said they are just friends. After thanksgiving I don't want to push."
"Or you could date and set an example?" Her sister said.
"I have bigger concerns right now." Kara reminded her.
"You can't put your life on hold forever."
"Said the kettle to the pot." Kara muttered before saying louder. "I'm not putting my life on hold, that is why I am planning spring break."
"You are gatecrashing Spring break?"
"No, Alex is coming home for it."
"Everything okay?"
"Yes, she just doesn't see the attraction of illegally getting drunk on a beach." Kara explained.
"Like mother, like daughter." Alex said as her phone rang.
"Danvers." She answered. "Where? … She'll be right there."
"What's going on?" Kara asked.
"An alien has just taken out part of a building. Multiple causalities. The DEO team will meet you there."

"Part of the underground parking lot roof collapsed. There are multiple casualties trapped in there. There could be a further collapse so we can't send anyone else in." The fire chief said. "And king alien is still pounding round over there."
"I'll rescue the trapped." Supergirl said before looking at the DEO squad. "You stop the alien."
"Yes ma'am." They said before Supergirl flew into the parking lot.
"Alex, something seems wrong." Supergirl said over the radio.
"Define wrong." Alex said.
"The sprinklers are still working but I don't think it is water."
"Why not?"
"It's not clear for starters. It has a red tinge."
"Get out of there."
"I can't. I can hear a baby crying."
"It could be a trap." Alex warned.
"Not risking it." Supergirl said looking round.
"Ma'am, there is something wrong with her suit." Rose said.
"What do you mean?"
"All the sensor readings are corrupted."
"Supergirl, it is a trap. Get out of there." Alex ordered.
"Not yet. I'm nearly there." Supergirl said pulling a beam off a car. "There is a baby." She said grabbing hold of it before flying it to a hospital.
"The second the doctors have it come back here. It is not negotiable." Alex said. She then looked at Vasquez.
"Get the iso team set up and ready to go. I want her scanned for everything."
"Already set up." Vasquez said.

"There could be more people in that parking lot." Supergirl said as she paced the iso lab.
"And you could have been exposed to Red-K or worse." Alex countered.
"My suit would have activated."
"Only it isn't working properly." Alex said. "Something in that parking lot effected it."
"I'm fine." Kara said sounding agitated.
"That is what we are testing." Alex said calmly.
"That doesn't help the people in danger."
"My team has it." Alex said.
"So you are replacing me." Kara asked angrily.
"See comments like that make me think you aren't okay." Alex replied.
"I'm fine." Kara snapped.
"No she isn't." The DEO doctor said from Alex's side. Having seen the results Alex slammed her fist on a button and gas filled the room her sister was in moments before Kara passed out.

"How are you feeling?" Alex asked when her sister woke up an hour later.
"Alex? What happened?" Kara asked trying to sit up.
"Take it easy." Alex warned. "You were exposed to Red-K."
"Did I-"
"No, it's fine. We got you here before you showed symptoms." Alex said, unsure how much Kara would remember.
"The baby?" Kara asked.
"Is fine and reunited with his parents."
"If I had left when you told me to the baby would have died." Kara said.
"And if you had stayed longer you would have attacked the city."
"It was a good trap, screw me over either way." Kara said.
"Well they failed." Alex said. "And you are free from Red-K so you can go home."
"You sure it is safe?"
"Absolutely." Alex smiled.

"Hey have-" The teenage Alex started to asked as she approached MJ, but on seeing him and the way he held his side, she asked. "You okay?"
"Yeah, I got taken out on court. Just a little bruised." He said before noticing his cousin's expression. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." She said. "But do you know where Kara is?"
"College?"
"Funny. I meant more specifically."
"No. Why?"
"I need some advice and Kara isn't answering."
"You could ask me. Unless it is clothes related, in which case, ask Mel."
"Ask me what?" Mel said approaching them.
"Alex needs advice." MJ said. "I said if it was fashion she should ask you."
"Ask me regardless." Mel said sitting down next to MJ. "I can send MJ away if it helps."
"Wouldn't you tell him anyway?" Alex asked.
"Well yeah, unless you really didn't want me to." Mel shrugged. "So what's up?"
"I got a message from Matt."
"Okay." MJ said.
"Wait, was he asking you out?" Mel asked.
"Yes, kind of. I think." Alex said.
"You think?" MJ asked.
"Where's the message?" Mel jumped in.
"I don't want to ruin our friendship, but I really like you. I hope you know I am not a jerk and you feel the same way. But I don't want to pressure you. So if you aren't interested just ignore this message and pretend I never sent it and it will be like normal. But if you are are interested I'll be in Joe's from six on Friday." Mel read out.
"You like him?" MJ asked.
"Yes."
"Told you." Mel said to MJ.
"So what's the problem?" MJ asked his cousin as he took the phone from Mel and read the message himself.
"Jeff." Alex said.
"Matt isn't Jeff." MJ said. "Look, I know more than anyone how hard it is to trust someone, but if you don't you won't be happy." He said gripping his side again.
"Are you sure you are okay?" Alex asked.
"Just bruised. Don't worry I'll take it easy. More importantly, what are you going to do?"
"I don't know. That's why I wanted to speak to Kara." Alex pointed out.
"If you go and it doesn't work out, if he really is a friend things will go back to normal, after a bit of wierdness. But by the end of exams you'll be fine." Mel said as MJ typed on Alex's phone.
"What are you doing?" Alex asked.
"Telling Matt you'll be there. Well pretending to be you telling Matt you'll be there tomorrow."
"What? Why?"
"Because you need a push. Watching you and Matt do the same dance your mom and Steve has been doing will get old real fast. If I thought Matt was a bad guy I'd tell you to stay away, but he is nice guy, so go have fun." He said as the phone buzzed. Tossing the phone at Alex Mel asked him.
"Aren't you going to read it?"
"No. I've done my part." MJ shrugged.

"I have emergency Kara snacks." Steve said peering over the box he was carrying.
"Good, we need them." Lena said.
"Why? The news made it sound like it was a success story. Well for Supergirl, obviously the DEO guys who took so long containing the alien didn't come across so well."
"Don't mention that to Alex." Lena warned. "Besides the truth is a little more complicated." Lena said. "And dark."
"Dark how?" He asked as he put the box down.
"The sprinkler system in the parking lot had been rigged with a liquid that damaged Kara's suit and exposed her to Red K."
"Is she okay?"
"Yes. She got treatment in time."
"That's bad, but not dark."
"The dark part was they used a baby as bait."
"Seriously?" Steve asked.
"Yes."
"How's Kara taking it?"
"Angry. Alex is trying to talk her down. They'll be back soon."
"At least spring break is round the corner. Having Alex back will help." Steve said.
"As long as Indomitable doesn't target her."
"You think he will?"
"I don't know." Lena said. "It wouldn't surprise me. Especially after he used a baby as bait." Lena said as the front door opened.
"Lena? Steve? What are you doing here?" Kara asked confused.
"We thought you'd need cheering up." Lena said.
"I'm okay. Just a little tired."
"Which is why we have sugar." Steve said.
"I appreciate this, but you don't need to." Kara replied.
"We want to." Lena said. "And we'll even let you partner Alex for Games' Night."
"Hang on, I don't remember agreeing to that." Steve said.
"You are such a wimp." Alex said to Steve.
"I partially object to that." Steve protested.
